Maggie starts talking as soon as everyone has gotten a seat in their makeshift guild room. "First off, I'm glad all three of you can do this job. I mean, we're almost a true team of thieves, but we're really just a couple of people that happen to work together on a regular basis. Nothing serious. Anywho, I found this-" slapping down a piece of paper with a gem printed on it "-beauty which is being held in an uptown manor. Now, it's heavily guarded, and there's magic involved with the defences, too. Oh, which reminds me. Scouty dude, this-" digging around, Maggie finds a decently weighted coin purse and sets it in front of the analyst "-is your pay for your scouting work. And good catch with the magical barrier. So, long story short, this one gem could sell for enough money for each of us to be set. For. Life. So, how do we get it? We gotta break through magic by using magical technology. Which we can find here."
Pulling out a map of the city with a building circled and many arrows pointed at it. "This, dear friends, is the institution of magical technology. IMT for short. So, the way this works is we sneak in there, get something that can disable or break through magic barriers, and then snag the gem. Then we're set for life!" Ending with a wide smile, she scanned the room's faces for reactions to her grand master plan.

"So what should I do? I could try and figure out more of the security system. But, I mean, over all the plan sounds really good," Lila said, adjusting her outfit. This wasn't totally her style. But she guessed that it was time for an upgrade in jobs. She ran her fingers through her hair in anticipation. This would be fun.
Lila looked at the map, wondering exactly how they would steal this. She then looked around at the other people in the room. These people would be fun to work with. Lila assumed that they would work pretty well. They had a scout. And probably at least one pick pocket and Lila. They should be a pretty good thief team. But she wouldn't know till they started.

Rand listened to the leader of their group, Maggie, attentively. It did indeed sound like a good plan, he hoped that the other people in the group were as skilled as he in their perspective areas. He then heard the girl next to him, who was running her fingers through her hair, wonder what she would do with herself and he smiled. It was true, that sometimes it was hard to find a role for yourself, especially when your working with new people, but Rand knew that all he needed, was to be confident-and so when Maggie and the girl brought up security, that's exactly what he was.

He hefted his bag of equipment with its strap, making sure that it was in the perfect position to carry, as he added his two-bits in, "The security should not be a problem, even if its magical. I have experience with security systems before, true they weren't magical, but how it works should run off the same basic idea." He smiled as he continued. "It has to have a power source to run the barrier, and yeah I agree having some kind of magic technology-", the word sounded odd in his mind "-would definitely help to break through the barrier, and the easiest place to break through the security, is where it is the least bit supported by wires, current, people or whatever is maintaining that barrier." He explained.

"Aha, and that, sir, is where you're... less correct. Not wrong, exactly, but the magic shield system is opened by glyphs. A runic glyph is etched into the hand of the accessor and can only let that person in. Now, for a guest, that guard would have to go in to the magic-barrier-control-room-place and use something that opens the barrier for a few seconds. Thus, I'm afraid to say, is why we can't force our way in. The glyphs stop working if the hand is detached or the guard is dead. Possession won't work either, so I've been told. I was told by my info broker that the barrier also cleanses the entrant of enchantments. And that the control-room-place is near the middle of the mansion. They keep this place on a tight leash. And the closest public event is nearly a year from now. We don't have that kind of time." Quickly explaining the bad news and all of the 'we can't's, Maggie continues with good news.
"So, instead, my info broker also mentioned a tool that could tear a hole in the barrier is being moved to another place at the end of this week. We can either catch it in-transit or at its destination. Either will work. There's roof access, so Luck, you'll have no problem getting in. The hard part is gonna be getting out. It's pretty hefty. It's about the size of a crossbow, so we can't exactly hide it. We'll need to transport it quickly to the magic mansion, cause if we wait, word gets out. Security increases. Yadda yadda yadda. So till then, either we can be a more permanent team, since we call on each others' talents regularly anyways, or we can go our separate ways till the end of the week. Whadda ya guys say?" Maggie ended with a huge smile, looking around at her, dare say, friends. Most frequent partners? Really good acquaintances? No matter the title, they could all be set for their own individual lives with this one heist.

Click, click, click-click-clack.
Luck opened and closed her Multi tool repetitively, her nerves showing through that small gesture.
She listened wordlessly from her place leaning against one of the walls.
Tugging a flask out she took a swig of the nearly cold coffee, Garr she grimaced, she really should have drunken that when it was hot. She glanced up grinning slightly at the mention of her name. When Maggie had finally finished speaking Luck pushed herself off the wall, eying the others, "Okay, I know I've seen a few of you before, but can you introduce yourselves? And I don't mean with aliases. I'ma Luck, you can just call me Luck." She grinned, "And I'll be your roof runner for this evening." Bowing fancy-like, Luck closed her multi tool one last time, letting it clack solidly, before clipping it to her belt.

Lila liked the Luck's idea. Introductions were always good for a team to work together.
"I'm Lila. And if you can find a nickname for me, then go ahead, but I doubt you can. But, I'll be your People Person for the evening."
Lila was good with people. Whether it was deceiving or seducing or anything of the like, people were Lila's specialty. And distraction was her best trick. But, then again, you can't ask a magicians daughter to take up sewing very easily. She'll be used to magic around her. And distraction carbines perfectly with magic.

Rand nodded sadly at Maggie's clarification of how the Mansion's security actually operated. It did seem to be well thought out and in turn well protected. He was going to have to ponder it for a while longer, to find a solution to getting in. It was all very well, when Maggie told Luck that she could get in through the roof. But, Rand would also like to get in himself so as to be able to see the place from the inside himself.

"I think we'll see how the mission goes first.", rand replied to Maggie about the permanent team thing with a slight smile.

Then having heard Lila and Luck introduce themselves he followed suit. Putting his bag from his shoulder to the ground, he knelt on one knee with his hand across his chest, facing the three ladies next to him. "I'm Rand, and I am a security specialist." He said with a friendly smile.

"Right. Maybe I should've introduced you all to each other. Well, it's done now, other than our analyst over there, Cooper. He's most definitely not going to be out running with us. He'll be checking things out ahead of time. Especially magic-based stuff. Just so ya know, all of you are free to stay here if you need between tonight and the mission at the end of the week. I even have a few jobs to do during the week. Anywho, each of you are the best I know at what you do, and have personal recommendations based on the fact that I've seen each of you do your thing expertly. So, that's all I have to say about the mission. You guys are all free to stay or go. Socialize or not. I was gonna hop over to the tavern for a little while, so if any of you wish to come along, you're more than welcome."
With that, she smiled across at the team. Her... frequent partners with whom she's acquainted. They're all the right people for the job, and Maggie knows it. An analyst, security professional, break-and-enter specialist, people person, and herself- the item-lifter. It was simple compared to how complex the magical monkey wrench that was thrown into the mix is. All they needed was that magic-barrier-open-sesame thing and then it's a simple robbery. There's still the wait time for the end of the week for them before they can even lift the thing. It'd be worth it, though. All five set for life with one measly heist. The perfect heist. Maggie nods to herself as she thinks she'll write about it once she's middle aged or elderly. No one could do anything about it at that point.

"Hey, who says I can't go out on a mission?" Cooper asked with a grin. "You need another hand to help with anything, I'm more than willing to help out. Though, my specialty is scouting a place out. Guards, traps, security, all that jazz - that's my job." He then sobered up. "Though, if we're going to rob IMT, that's another place I'm going to have to look over. And that means another sleepless night." He shuddered at the thought.

"I'm going to need a stiff drink. I think I'll tag along for the tavern. Oh, right, I'm Cooper. Like Maggie said. So... yeah," he finished lamely.

He'd just finished scouting out the manor, and Cooper was nowhere near ready for another night of silently taking notes. He could still feel the strain in his eyes, not to mention the five cups of coffee he'd drunk over the course of the day. Yeah, a nice drink to unwind sounded just fine.

"You could just do your stuff tomorrow night." Luck commented, glancing over at Cooper, "I mean, we've got a whole week, right?" Thinking of that, she'd need to get some sleep, running off coffee alone was never a good idea especially when sneaking places. Stretching, Luck gave it a thought, "Yeah, I could come to the tavern, yep sounds good." Getting to know the others seemed like a good idea right then. Yawned massively, she hooked out her coffee and downed the last few mouthfuls, "Blargh" she quietly commented at the gritty grinds she had just inhaled.

Rand grinned, at maggie as the Tavern sounded like a fantastic idea. "Sure I'll come with you guys." He said to the group. Then turning to Cooper in time to hear that he didn't want to stay back and not go with the rest of them when they took on the mission together, he shrugged, not knowing how to respond to that.

He then opened his bag and resumed reading a book on electrical systems, waiting for the rest of them to head out and then he'd follow.

Maggie smiled at all the company that had agreed to come with her. It's good to know that at least some people in the group thought of them as more than just another group of thieves taking on a job. If she's lucky, some may stay and be a more permanent part of her life. Having steadfast friends would be a nice change of pace, since the nicest people she knows are all black market vendors whom she deals with often enough. It still wasn't much in the way of company, but familiar faces were better than strangers. All these people working for the heist of the century, as Maggie hopes it will be.
"Awesome! Well, may as go now. No better time than the present, I guess. And, again, thanks for agreeing to help with this operation. I know there was a lot of money for you, which probably helped a little, but still. None of you really had to, since it's gonna be a tough one. So thanks." With a wholehearted smile around the room, she leads the group of those going to the tavern out the door and to the downtown area and into the tavern.

"S'alright Maggie, anything for a friend." She grinned, although it wasn't technically true, anything for a friend like Maggie, sure, but only cause she trusted and respected her, others? only a little.

Slipping outside after Maggie, Luck slipped away from the small group, finding a way up to the roofs and following them from there.

The tavern itself looked a little rundown from the out side while the inside was …… pretty much the same. Having rejoined the group, Luck fished a single muted copperish coin, about the size of a hole in an egg cup, out of a small tightly latched pouch at her side. Technically it was a fake purse, with only a few coins, used as a distraction, a bluff if you will, so anyone trying to nick her money with sticky fingers only ever got a tiny amount. Striding up to the bar she placed the coin on the counter, holding it down with her middle finger. "Coffee, thanks love." She asked of the slim girl behind the bar. Twisting to glance over at Maggie she used her free hand to beckon her over, "Hey, what do you want?" she asked, only offering to get Maggie a drink. As she had said; anything for a friend like Maggie, and anyway, Maggie was the one who came up with the whole heist in the first place.
