I was under the impression that's -how- it stops a concentrated attack though, by dispersing that force across a larger surface area, unless you mean a sustained attack, like someone forcing a knife through it. In which case the armour would only be good at reducing kinetic impacts of projectiles, like Rilla said.

Does anyone know if an arrow would pierce a Kevlar Vest? Apparently an arrow can punch through bullet proof glass so I was wondering if the same logic applies to a vest.

Also it worth noting that there is a limit to what it can reduce trauma wise across a wide surface. Your basic war hammer would ignore any protection the great clock gives.

I'm guessing a large part of Kevlars effectiveness relies on the relatively low weight of the bullet as well, once its momentum is cancelled out (by dispersing it) it can't really penetrate anything.

Hard armor basically works by resisting the force of the bullet or shrapnel with the same degree of force.

Well each character has their own way to overcome the armor. Some hard hitting others more precise and focused.

Or just avoid said armor of course. But that's complicated. It's mostly useful against back-stabs.

Contrary to its size and weight, spider silk is naturally capable of absorbing a huge amount of energy. Spider silk has a natural stress distribution when struck btw, since you asked how it adsorbed energy from a blow.

Dude that armour is like T7-8 (maybe earlier was a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much) at least. Look at the advancement humanity has made in armour construction, we've gone from a plate of mail to a Kevlar vest, which is more than five times as effective. That took like 1000 fucking years, imagine how far ahead technology is that's 50x Kevlar.

Also problem with the multipliers is that they are only really relevant in reality for specific situations.
The only universal protection is density (at least when it comes to impacts, particle radiation is a whole different issue).
