@HaltingBlooper It basically just acts as if Autism is this evil predator or something, this thing worse than cancer and aids or something, something that is shameful and dream crushing and something that should be eradicated rather than something that needs to be supported and that we're all above it or something and that's it's inferior in the name of familial love and it's gross it's so terribly gross.
@HaltingBlooper It's infamously stupid, it looks like an SNL parody of the kind of thing Autism Speaks makes. It starts out with a black and white screen (of course) and shots of various, apparently autistic people just sort of... standing around. This ominous voice starts telling you about all of the various horrible things autism will do to your life, and then a bunch of people start speaking up in the most corny, self-righteous way possible about how they're going to 'cure' autism. The video is blatant propaganda, like a first year film student could have made something better.
@21308 Affgndfgdfkkgdfkgdkf oh my gosh Spinna > W < I cannot even describe how it feels to hear that...I really do think that the special thing about art, regardless of the form (visual, musical, literary, etc) is that even if you try to imitate another's art no two people's are exactly alike, just like no two people; everyone's art has something to offer that another's can't. I can't wait to see what you make! In time I'm sure you'll be able to make truly amazing art, and hopefully one day I will as well. ' w '
@HaltingBlooperWhat M Night Shyamalan Movie? He never made a hideous movie about Avatar The Last Airbender that literally had the main actor cast because he sent M Night a small Kung Fu demo video?
@Loony You're right, hopefully withe enough hard work I'll e able to have my own decent art style. And as of right, I'm not really sure what I'd want to make. Maybe if I can learn to draw decent faces I can make those little square face avatars that used to be all the rage out of everyone's gem like I did with Spinel?
@21308 Intentionally or not, you'll begin to build your own unique style. Or if you're like me, a bunch of styles so you have art identity crises because what is my style. And it's all what you want to start with. Me, I started off with Earthbound-styled chibis and over-the-top animu because those were what I liked at the time, and though it took a long time to grow out of the Earthbound-esque-ness (pun not intended...probably, and animu died pretty quickly) even then you could see there's was something unique about it as well. It'll develop on it's own, I assure you, slowly but surely. It may end up totally different from what you started off with, and that's fine, and probably a good thing. You could do the square icons, it's a good of a start as any other. I'd suggest studying anatomy if you ever want to be serious about your art because if not you're going to be doomed to styles with unrealistic porportions like me and never understand what an actual human body looks like even in your mind. Seriously, I imagine almost everything in cartoon and chibi it's sorta scary. XD Luckily for me realistic art never appealed to me but there are definitely times where I regret not having studied anatomy. Seriously, do it and do it early, because the later you learn the worse it is. X______X
Now I have like 10 different chibi styles, 5 cartoon styles, 2 weird abstract styles, and now Eve art to add in. XD
@Loony That's all really useful to know, a quick glance shows me that there's a lot to learn about basic anatomy but there are at least plenty of readily available references for it. So does the stuff you start off drawing have a big impact on your style? I really like your art but I don't want mine to be a rip off of yours, so maybe I'll practice by drawing bugs.
@21308 Not really? I mean, it will in some ways, especially in your earlier art, but eventually you grow out of it. I mean, look at my art now;
doesn't really scream
or
does it? XD
It's good to do a large variety at first though but sticking with one thing won't ruin your style forever, but it's good to try a lot of variety first so that you don't cling to a certain sub-category like a security blanket and have a hart time transitioning, like I did when I went from years to chibi to suddenly cartoon. It'll make you more comfortable with certain things but definitely not dictate. And I'm honored that you like my art enough to want to start from there! No need to feel like a rip-off! And even then I'd be super flattered by anyone trying to be a rip-off for my art. XD You can definitely do that if you want, but it's good to have some variety, and probably base your art on a more...experienced and skillful artist who knows what they're doing, rather than my art? ^ ^" Seriously though angkfdngkdfngkdfngkdf I can't even.
ALSO SUPER IMPORTANT TIPS:
-References are your friends. Use them.
-Draw as often as you can, even if you don't finish the drawing or if they're crappy doodles. Just. Do. It. It helps sooooo much. Every day at least try to get one doodle done.
-Tracing is great as a learning tool, but don't trace artwork and pass it off as your own, that's different. XD
- Draw in as many different styles as you can
-Don't be like younger me and withhold from drawing something because it's daunting, because five years in the future you're going to be like 'I want to draw hands in my new style. How the bloody hell do I draw hands?' and you'll end up with these super perfected everything but the things you've avoided and it'll show like hell it's horrible don't do it save yourself @___________@
-There's more but my brain has gone poop brain on me. ^ ^"
