The Blacklions' motives were not driven to accumulate funds, or obtain a high social status in Outremer's criminal hierarchy. They sought to lay waste to institutions, not to uphold some political agenda, but to satiate their carnal lust for destruction. This in turn made them greatly feared and unpredictable to calculate. The governing powers that be sought to crush their charade with a swift blow, and thus, a joint BESC-CGB operation was mandated to bring the Blacklions down. After a long and grueling process, Gideon Hyde was eventually caught and detained at Babylon's High Profile Security Ward Sector. Irrevocable evidence of the crimes he committed made it an open-close case. The BESC high courts ordered immediate execution, unless Gideon was willing to divulge key information about the criminal underworld. He had one week to decide.
Then, two days after his sentence, a second chance at life paid him a visit.
When a War Priest named, Raphael Ignatius, came into his life, it changed everything. At the blink of an eye, Gideon accepted Raphael's nefarious invitation into the Knight's Cross. To show his commitment to the cause, Gideon revealed critical details about the Blacklions, essentially ratting them out for almost every illegal operation they've helmed for the past decade. As a political delegate of the Knight's Cross, Raphael Ignatius managed to overrule Gideon's sentence, officially enforcing an old law that the BESC had overlooked. As one of the most oldest institutions in Outremer, the Red Cross (public domain name for Knight's Cross) had instilled several constitutional amendments when they reached the apex of their political power; specifically, the penance law. This hundred year old law allowed the Red Cross to recruit any registered civilian into their ranks, overruling all judicial power, regardless of the crimes committed.
To avoid irreparable damage from the public backlash that would result in Gideon's release, the high courts coerced a theatrical farce. Using the information Gideon revealed about the criminal underworld, BESC diverted the public's attention toward the capture and execution of several Blacklion Generals. Their criminal records were fluffed up, making them appear to the public as men of greater evils compared to their own leader, Gideon Hyde. And on top of that, the High Priest of the Red Cross himself, released a public statement that supported the retribution of Gideon's soul. His moving speech ensured the people that Gideon's past transgressions would not go unpunished while in service to the Knights.
Narrowly escaping public execution, Gideon was released from prison with a clean slate. Leaving his sordid past behind, the former convict began his march down the Templar's path toward vindication. At least that's what the official record states. Off the record? Well, that's another story entirely. Let's just say that Gideon Hyde sold his soul to a new, more powerful devil, leaving his old pack of demons to burn in the hellfire of his betrayal. As an Acolyte, he holds no official title in the hierarchy of knights and priests. His station, though unofficial, is tasked with completing assignments that the Templar cannot risk to perform; tasks that would otherwise cause public revolt. For the sake of their reputation, Gideon Hyde exists as the willing executioner, further dirtying his hands for a cause he has yet to adopt as his own.
Augmentation: Since Gideon's inception as an Acolyte, he has received multiple genome treatments for muscular and cardiovascular reconditioning, hyaline/fibro/elastic cartilage reinforcement, bone density enhancement, and improved neuronal-synaptic reflexes.

Nickname: When he made an example out of the first rival gang leader that tried to kill him, Gideon surgically removed his heart, while still conscious, and digested the entire organ on a live underground stream. A still picture of blood flowing from his mouth (the one shone in the appearance image) went viral, and the name Blacktongue stuck ever since.
Tattoos: To show extreme affiliation of his gang, Gideon is covered from head to toe in tattoos that was intended to make him appear like a ghoul. Each tattoo represents rank, affiliation, and crimes committed. He denied the Knight's Cross's offer to laser them all off his skin, claiming that they serve as, "wonderful reminders." However, if his presence is required in the public eye, he will wear a thin sheet of dermal covering that acts as make up, covering all of the ink shone around his face and skull.
Weapons: The blades of an Acolyte are manifestations of past sins, refined by state-of-the-art Templar smithing, and advanced technologies. The Executioner is actually a refined bludgeoning axe that was Gideon's signature tool for public executions in the past. Equipped with a sharpened vibroblade, the blunt end on the opposite side also has a gravimetric pulse emitter that can cause shock-wave damage to surrounding tissue/objects upon impact. The Sinner's blade is a standard issue Acolyte weapon. It is equipped with a dual vibro-thermal slicing mechanism that can cut through almost any weapon.
Acolyte Suit: The Acolyte Suit is designed primarily for infiltration and scouting. Compose of light, black-matted derma steel that can withstand projectile impact and standard blade punctures. The helmet's battle mode has a large spherical sensor at the forehead section that relays all necessary data of the surrounding environment. The sensor can also transmit and interpret several frequencies of sound, able to translate foreign languages, and calculate the physics of any moving object that is within a ten foot radius via echo wavelength tech.
