The sun was something that Shayushi hadn't seen in some time as she had been in the dark underground for so long, but now she was following the rest of the tribe as they streamed out of their homes beneath the earth by the hundreds. She made sure to stick close to Asosk as they marched because she knew that he would be cross with her for wandering off or falling behind. He liked to keep her close by whenever he wasn't out hunting or fighting with the other males. Shayushi preferred it when he wasn't around because when he was he usually only wanted one thing from her.
She longed to escape from him, but that wouldn't be easy and she would be risking death if she tried to do so, but she could never forgive him for taking her sons from her and giving them away to some fat sow of a female to raise for him. She hadn't seen them since and feared she never would. But now that she was leaving the underground, perhaps there were new opportunities to be found as well.
