The Chronicles of Dosei: Chapter 1
A Medieval Roleplay by EWillden.
Setting: This chapter begins on the fifth day of the week, the time is set at noon in the season of winter. The story takes place in a country called Itari. The country has a bit of a cold climate in the winter. Snow is on the ground and the sun seems to nearly blind anyone unprepared for its reflection upon the white floor below them. Those who lived in the country were used to it ,but still managed to keep warm with furs or thick clothes covering their bodies. Some even wore hoods, but not to keep their heads warm but to shield their eyes from the bright rays of the sun that seemed to bounce of the surface of the snow.
Life went on though in the country. Whether you lived in the city or villages or the country side. You always managed to survive. Your adventure however starts not in the country or some fancy city with a battalion of armed guards. It starts in a small fishing village to the far south bordering that of another country. The village has gone by the simple name of Reisui, which means Cold Water. The lake in general was always cold all year around. However, the oddest thing about it, was that it never froze. Rumor has it, that a nymph lives within it and that is why it never freezes yet always remains cold and abundant with fish.
The small village consists of ten houses, a longhouse big enough to fit the lord of the village, one smith, one lumber yard, and two stores. The two stores sell different goods from each other. One store sells odds and ends from weapons to trinkets the owner claims to be rare, whether or not they are actually that is yet to be proven. The other shop a couple houses down is a shop belonging to a old wizard, in his shop he sells alchemical goods as well as a few scrolls. Nothing to fancy, just minor healing scrolls.
The Village also houses a tavern with room for fifteen guests with ten tables and a bar counter, and one barracks housing about twenty guards. The Tavern goes by the name of Karasu, which means Raven. The owners of the tavern is a drow elf named Vivian and her sister Cassandra. Every so often they take turns going out and exploring. By exploring I mean they take a wagon of food and a couple bags of gold to a secluded mountain. Why they take it there is unknown to the lord. He does not know, and with dragons being common in the region. He did not want to know. For all he knew they could be bribing one to either not attacking our village or protecting it. Most likely both actually.
Plot: Your character will start in this village, and by saying start I mean your character will either be in the village or just entering it. There are three entrance points to the village. Other then that it is walled in. The walls are made of timber and are often occupied and patrolled by the guards stationed here. The three entrances consist of a northern entrance, a western entrance and a southern entrance. As far as story goes, the story will go as you make it from conversations between the villagers or guards.
Your can travel alone or in a group does not matter. What quests you take up on is determined by you or the group you decide to join. The country and world has many Japanese influences and cultures but do not yet live by them. You can follow a Japanese deity if you wish though.
