[OOC] Never Back Down (MMA RP)

Welcome to Shinjuku Academy!

Here at Shinjuku Academy we take pride in our culture and traditions and strive to become the best at what we do by holding ourselves above the standards. So we expect no less then our students. Our standard uniform consists of a black/grey/white collared shirt with a Velcro patch on the right sleeve to designate the students year (single silver for freshman, double silver bar for sophomore, single gold bar for junior and double gold bar for seniors. sophomores through senior may customize their patch however, the bars must be visible). Student must also wear black/blue/grey slacks with black/grey dress shoes. Uniforms for classes vary depending on the style in which you learn.

The ground rules for our school:
1. If you challenge a student you must have a proctor or sensei willing to advocate for the fight.
2. When the fight is over, you may NOT challenge that student AGAIN the same day during school hours.
3. THERE IS NO FIGHTING IN THE DORMITORIES!
4. You may challenge a student in the student government for a position during school hours but must have approval by student government president or school president/principle.

Any and all martial arts are fine. If I'm not mistaken boxing IS a martial art form.

Ok, right now I'm researching different wrestling styles form around the world, once I find one I'll get to working on the Cs. My dude will specialize in bare-knuckle boxing, whichever wrestling discipline I end up liking the best (just saw a video of Turkish submission wrestling, might end up going that route) and aikido, to supplement the wrestling.

Personality:

Confident but cautious. Neither in life nor battle does he act without a plan or advantage. And if that means not acting at all until he can come up with a plan or find said advantage, then so be it. Naturally social, but only in a superficial level. Doesn't gets too close to most people, only letting them see the epidermis of his soul, if you will.

Fighting Style:

Slow, calculated. Prefers to let his opponents wear and tire themselves while he studies them, staying on the defensive. Once the opponent seems tired enough, he moves in with the offensive.

Martial Arts:

• Catch-as-catch-can (Catch Wrestling)

History:

Born and raised in the United States. His mother (who's surname he uses) is a Cuban immigrant and his father an English tourist-turned-resident. When he was just a young lad, a friend of his father called Fred moved state-side hoping to "make it" as a prizefighter. Although he wasn't too successful, he did see potential on Mikhail and started teaching him how to box.

After several years of consistent, continual training, Vlad's family moved to his father's homeland, England; but before doing so, Fred asked Vlad to contact an old friend of him who practiced Catch-as-catch-can, seeing the new opportunities in knowing varied fighting martial disciplines. Vlad trained with Fat Eddie, Fred's friend, for several more years until one fateful night he heard about a series of open auditions by the Shinjuku Academy...

Dreams and Fears:

Vlad dreams of a day when he has lived an interesting and varied enough life that he can write a book about it.

He fears waking up one day and feeling that all his training has been for nothing.

Xu Liang

Name: Xu Liang
Age: 15

Personality:
He is a calm and fair person, normally seen with a slight smile. He always tries to see the light in most situations and is a prime spectator, but will fight if he has too. He does not entirely detest fighting but tries to avoid unnecessary fights if he can. Don't mistake him for a weakling though he will never back down from a challenge and always finishes what he starts. Xu is that friend that always has nice things to say but has a whole different side to him that most others have never seen.

Fighting Style: He has a very fluent fighting style, it is like fighting with a currents of water. He always wears a smile while he fights, and only loses it when he gets serious. He sticks close to his techniques and sometimes tries to refine them mid fight and try new things. Most think he is some kind of master by the way he fights, calm and wise, but he is far from it. This calmness is usually just his childish antics and lack of seriousness in a fight. It is when he gets serious that he is dangerous.

History:
Xu was born in a hill side temple in northern china. His parents left him in the hands of the Bagua master Chi Song. As a boy he would watch and study the masters movements and try to copy him. One day Chi caught him and began teaching him his art. They would train day in and day out and soon Xu became quite strong. He became ambitious and cocky because of his new found skills, Challenging anyone who came to the temple, no matter who they were. Chi Song could see the boy had a gift but he lack ed the mental and spiritual connection to his art. In response to this he sent Xu south to learn from the rougher side of Chinese martial arts.

Xu arrived on the out skirts of Hong Kong and began staying with the twin masters Gin and Bao. Gin was a master in Zui Quan, an sly man who was also a dunkard, his words of wisdom always came in a slur and he never stayed sober for long. While his twin brother, Bao, was a master in Hang Gu, the man was brash and filled with anger, but his strength was unmatched and he was a ladies man. Both owned a shop were the sold shoes, and made Xu work there. When he arrived, Xu challenged both of them to a fight and lost horribly. After the brothers refused to teach him at all and would only let him stay with them. Xu was a stubborn little boy so every day for his 2 year stay he would challenge both ,and lose each day up until the day he left. This was their way of teaching him, instead of with words they used fist and it worked.

When Xu returned to the north he no long had that ugly air around, and he smiled more. He traded his stubborn, prideful and ambitious attitude, for a calm, flexible, humor and bright way of life. He could always be smiling and tried his best to make a joke out of anything, he no longer wanted to rush into any fight, but let them come to him. When Chi Song said he had nothing left to teach him, he recommended that Xu move on with his life so he sent him to Shinjuku Academy, some plce were he could use his skills and still make friends with students his age.

Dreams and Fears:
His greatest dream is to create his own southern form of Baguazhang. It has never been adapted in the south due to the long time rivalry of northern and southern school. He wants to change that and find a way to untie the North and the South in Bagua.

His greatest fear is the death of his master. The two who raised him in the south gave Xu their legacy right before they passed away and this shocked him to his core, death. He hates watching people go away forever and fears that in his masters old age he will be next. The death of master Gin and Bao are what inspired such a change in his ways.

Hey guys! While I'm going to try and not be too biased on which styles you use, it's really much more realistic and practical to study 1 or 2 styles! For example, it'd be better to choose between a striking or a grappling art if you're a freshman or 2nd year, and maybe be proficient in two at junior, and learn a third if you're a senior.
