The Beat

"In the past, we'd secretly enjoyed putting down a local insurrection or two. They kept the troops sharp and the Empire feared, but these Rebels were different. They were organized, they were growing, and they were everywhere."

It is the age of the Empire. The Seperatists and their leaders have been crushed, and have returned to the fold of the Empire. Only minor pockets of resistance remain. The Jedi traitors have been purged from the Galaxy. It is the age of the Empire. It is the age of peace.

But we all know thats a lie. Thats why the we're here. We are the Emperor's fist. We patrol the Galaxy enforcing peace on planets that would otherwise be a chaotic mess. We are the first ones in the thick of battle when the Emperor's enemies rear their ugly heads. We face the enemy when they are at their strongest, and we don't stop until we achieve our objective. We are the Empire's finest. We are the Stormtrooper Corps.

Welcome to the 121st Battalion, trooper, around here we call ourselves 'The Fists'. Specializing in enforcing martial law, domestic subservience, quelling uprisings, "adjusting" governments, or even toppling civilizations, the 121st is a military division of the STC that largely patrols the Outer Rim. The 121st a dreaded sight for any world to have the misfortune of harboring anti-imperial sentiment.

Please Read:

Hello everyone and welcome to the interest check for "The Beat." This particular Star Wars RP will follow the adventures of a group of men and women from the infamous Stormtrooper Corps. I will be accepting up to 4-5 other players- not including myself or any co-gms, so this is not first come first served. Be aware that my own knowledge of the Star Wars lore is not as in depth as some of yours may be, and I am in fact looking for a Co-gm who has considerable knowledge on Star Wars lore as well as the ability to manage players.

This RP will play out in a militaristic style, and will also be taking several creative liberties- such as the omission of the idea of the Stormtroopers' unbreakable loyalty and lack of individuality. Common fan speculation in regards to the ineffectiveness of Stormtroopers will also be omitted.

Plot:

We the players will play the role of stormtroopers from the 121st Assault Battalion, a group of stormtroopers patrolling the Outer Rim. What appears to be a routine deployment quickly takes a turn for the worse as our characters take for granted what appears to be only a small pocket of resistance. Our characters will face daunting challenges, testing their wit and willpower, as well as their morals as they are pushed to their absolute limits in this RP that shows us the perspective of the "bad guys".

Technology and Organization

Organzation:
The Players will play as members of single squad within the 121st Battalion, the Order of Battle is as follows:
- 121st Battalion
- Bravo Company
- 1st Platoon
- 2nd Squad

Equipment
Standard gear available to the 121st:
Stormtrooper Armor
E-11 Blaster Rifle
SE-14r Sidearm
Thermal Detonators
Limited availability Equipment:
T-21 Repeating Blaster
DLT-19 Heavy Blaster Rifle
E-11s Sniper Rifle

Player Roles

I am a personal fan of smaller scale RPs, as such, I will only be accepting 4-5 other players to join me in this adventure. While you are free to make your character however you like, acceptance to this RP will be judged by me, and is not on a first come, first served basis. While not necessary, there are several roles I would like to see filled:
  • The Veteran - This player will be the oldest member in the squad. He/she will likely be the most jaded and cynical member of the team. He will have first pick when it comes to any of the Limited Availability Gear (and any gear I may have failed to mention). He will be the backbone of the team, providing courage to the squad, and guidance to the younger squad leader throughout the RP.
  • The FNG (The Fucking New Guy) - This player should be among the youngest members of the team, as well as the least experienced. He has likely just recently graduated from Academy and is on his first assignment- he will probably be somewhat cocky and headstrong, and definitely extremely green. He has many roles, and will likely have a brighter, likely more positive outlook than the rest of the members that make up the rest of the team. He also serves as a convenient reason for characters/npcs to explain and describe the lore that, while known to the characters in the world, is otherwise new or unknown to the players themselves. There can be up to 2 FNGs.
  • The Squad Leader - This player will be the leader of the PC squad. His/her character will likely be the most experienced (aside from the veteran), and will have the most combat experience and skill. This player will have responsibilities as the Team's leader, and will have to make important decisions throughout the RP, along with managing and dealing with the clashing personalities of the squad- as well as the difficulties some of the NPC soldiers may give him/her.

Character Enlistment Form

Appearance: How your character appears outside of his/her armor. I prefer art images as opposed to real life images.
Name:Last name, First name
Identification/Serial Number: Imperial identification number. ex. AB-1234
Rank: Your trooper's rank, the majority of the team should be Privates and Corporals, with a single Sergeant for the squad leader, and perhaps an Lieutenant attached.
Role: Marksman, rifleman, etc.
Age:The minimum age is 20
Gender:Your trooper's gender
Nickname: An optional nickname given to your trooper by the rest of his/her squad. Nicknames like "Wraith" or "Kingslayer" because your character is "super cool" is a no-go. A nickname that would make sense in this setting would be "Fives" if your ID number was TK-555, or "Giggles" because you laugh too damn much. A nickname that makes a pun or joke off of your name is also acceptable ie Donald "Duck" Rasmey.

Psychological Analysis: Fancy talk for 'Personality'. Give me a good paragraph or so describing your character's personality. Rule of thumb: the more detail, the better.

Military Record: Your Character's background. Again, give me a few good paragraphs describing your character's history. Again, the more detail, the better.
Equipment: Equipment carried by your character. Any specialty equipment should have reasons be given for possessing.

For the squad leader, do we need to do something special to get it, or can we just have our character be It?

What I mean, is, do we have to do something OOC to get it?

Um... The edit button is a thing. Please avoid spamming my notifications.

And no, you do not have to do something OOC to get it. However, as the squad leader plays a relatively important role in this RP, I will be more strict when reviewing said character for acceptance.

I like this. I've always felt that the Empire actually was the best thing for the average galactic citizen. (I mean the Jedi keep assassinating senators/emperors on what authority? Is being a sith even a crime?) And that killing Palpatine/blowing up a death star would have likely amounted to minor victories (There had to be SOMEONE waiting to take the throne, and they can always build more death stars)

Heck, even after the rebel victory they were going to do what to keep peace on all those planets? I digress.

I will love to throw my interest behind this, it's giving me serious "All guardsmen party" vibes.

Well I mean the Vong would show up shortly after the destruction of the empire and it's highly implied that the emperor knew about them. Things would have certainly gone diffrently for the galaxy had the empire still been around.

Regardless I'm nearly done with a CS so.... glory to the emperor?

Quick question. What's the actual year? I'm trying to figure out if I could write in a veteran as one of the aging Fett Clones that's just miserable over the state of the new recruits.

The year is around ~4BBY, I would personally prefer there to be relatively few clones, especially Fett clones.

Appearance:
Name: Harold, Norman D.
Identification/Serial Number: FB- 2758
Rank: Corporal
Role: Riflemen
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Nickname: "Stormin' Norman" D.

Psychological Analysis: Apon leaving the academy Norman could be described as eager and disciplined, ready to serve the galactic empire. However, his stationing on Felucia during the final reclamation of the the planet which began with end of the clone wars turned him into a less disciplined trooper but much more resilient and effective one. His relatively short time of eight months saw Norman passed between seven different squads and put together with greener and greener recruits being thrown into the maw that was that brutal planet. While still intensely loyal to the empire Norman will not hesitate to break regulations if it means him surviving a little bit longer. While he was reprimanded several times and given a psych evaluation it was determined he no longer cares for indigenous people nor new recruits. He was deemed fit for service and rotated off world but kept in the outer rim as his attitude is one that imperial commanders like to have in the corps. He severely distrusts droids, recruits, and any of those not within the imperial hierarchy due to his time on Felucia.

Military Record: Norman was born on Coruscant during the Republic just before the on-set of the the Clone wars. As a child most of his time was spent at a boarding school near the senate building. For most of the time he can remember the Clone wars were in full swing and he was fed propaganda relating to the war. He was actually visitng the senate building as part of a school trip when chancellor Palpetine was given full emergency powers by the senate and later watched from his dorm as the jedi temple began smoking. In the time following these events Norman began to aquire an extreme distaste for the jedi and what they stood for. He also gained a fascination for the clone troopers and their distinction in combat.

When he was of age and the stormtrooper corps were opened up to non-clones Norman was the first person he knew to sign up. He was sent to the Academy of Carida for four years and endure brutal training as part of his induction into the corps. While he didn't graduate at the top of his class he was in the upper percentiles. For his early years of duty he saw little combat as he was station aboard a star destroyer in the core worlds. While this time is relatively of little note in comparison to his service on Felucia the star destroyer he was serving aboard was disabled by a explosion of unknown origin. It is speculated that the pacification of the ship was actually sabotage but no one in his platoon ever actually found out.

After the relatively uneventful stationing on the star destroyer his platoon was redeployed to Felucia to assist in a campaign against a reactivated series droid factories. It turned out that the factories could not be remotely deactivated due to the signal blocking properties of the indigenous mushrooms. The droids were the same that were fought during the clone wars and were thus reading all stormtroopers and those nearing the facility as the clone troopers they were made to fight. While all the troops were equipped with modern weapons and armor the equipment and vehicles were all surplus left over from the original clone siege of the planet. The most notable equipment was the now obsolete AT-TE's which their platoon was given several of as well as a plethora of "droid popper" EMP grenades. The initial attack which was supposed to take a week and knock out the B2 droid production was quickly stretched into a month long endevour which resulted in nearly half the platoon being wiped out by constant droid attacks. After being given fresh troops and an attachment of clones the next three months would play out relatively the same. The biggest change was however apon the second deployment against the droids when the indigenous peoples began participating in raids on the at this point several company sized assault.

Managing to make it out of all of these assaults by the skin of his teeth and the subsequent quelling of an uprising by Felcuians Norman was rotated off the planet but not before gaining his nick name. When the now near full recruit platoon was nearing the end of it's deployment they were sent into a set of villages to seize any weapons the aliens might have. Norman was always the first stormtrooper into the town and the first one into a building clearing it out. He was reprimanded for "storming" off ahead of the main force. The nickname stuck for the remainder of the deployment and he was then given a prompt psychological evaluation after his service there. It was decided that while still fit for duty he should be moved away from his current platoon given his disdain for the new guys that now filled the platoon.

Equipment: Stormtrooper Armor - Orange left shoulder Pauldron
DLT-20A blaster rifle (given to him during time on Felcuia out of necessity.)
SE-14r Sidearm
"Droid poppers" Electro Magnetic Pulse grenade
Occasionally a backpack with extra ammo for the squad.

Quick poll for a trooper that's tall and slightly overweight. What sounds like a better nickname? PB (Because they're chunky style) or Gammy (The squad's Gamorrean)

Name: Kitchens, Gayla
Identification/Serial Number: PB-1337
Rank: Private
Role: Automatic Riflewoman
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Nickname: Gammy
Psychological Analysis: A great man once put forth that there are people that go cradle to grave having never read a great book, gone on a great adventure or thought a beautiful thought. They live whole lives without the presence of profundity: Happy, carefree, joyous in their nescience. Then one day, with a smile on their lips, they expire. Private Kitchens would have been smack dab among them were it not for her enlistment, and even so isn't likely to skim anything denser than a training manual. Exactly the sort of gung-ho 'for the empire!' backworlder that eats up propaganda with a smile. And smile she does, an eternal optimist and all-around morale booster. She has a soft-spot for children and grievous misunderstanding of just what she's signed on for.

Military Record: A Raw recruit Gayla will be seeing her first deployment with the 121st, having scored remarkably well on all physical aspects of her evaluation. Dubbed Gammy by her peers (because being paired with her for drills was like wrestling a gamorrean) the irrepressible cheer with which she bore their japes eventually won the class over. It's a good thing too, as truth be told she's a bit of a dull bird and wouldn't have scraped by the written assessments without the help of a few friends. Big and tall she's best stationed as a deterrent, since few subversives are eager to stir up trouble with that much woman on patrol; an effect that would be ruined if her helmet didn't do the frowning for her. Her role in the squad can be divined at a glance, practically built to keep a T-21 from bucking.

Equipment:
Storm Trooper Armor
T-21 Light Repeating Blaster with Tripod and Continuous-feed Power Generator
SE-14r Sidearm
Thermal Detonators
Non-regulation Candy Bars

They can, evidence they can't pl0x?

Don't include the DS1 battle as they were missing on purpose, and on Hoth they were hitting their targets.

On Bespin they also had too let Luke get to Vader.

I'm in obviously @Vietmyke and offer my SW knowledge freely.

Was worried that my military service section was a little light--but with this being her first foray into the proper nit and grit of stormtrooping there wasn't really much to say. (Wasn't sure if you wanted a big preamble about what they were doing before enlistment) In that regard however, she was just a picker on some backwater grow-world that used allot of migrant labor, singing the praises of the Empire day in and day out. Finally someone got fed up and said "If the army's so great why don't you go join it." She took that at face value and did.
