A bowl would have to be enormous but if it's Discworld-style it could possibly work.

... And I might as well make my suggestion, um...

Basically it's a villain idea, only they're kind of an abstract evil. It's an enormous black tower in its own plane of existence called the Inverted Black Tower, which is pure evil that casts a shadow into the living world but has no sentience. It's just raw malignancy.

Not the only villain obviously but figured I might as well suggest it.

i like the bowl idea but how about we have it so that inside the bowl there is another planet and this one is a globe and like all the mountains hold that one in place

That just sounds... bizarre. And not in an interesting way. It's something that wouldn't be particularly workable--and would take away from any bowl shape by introducing a more normal world in the middle of it (also the gravity headache)

Well, what if it was... hmm. A normal spherical planet, but with the inhabitable area on the inside.

Hm. Trying to think of how that could actually work. Maybe if the planet is inside a gravity well that's trying to pull it apart, and only the united magic of the great mages of all the races is holding the planet together. Or something. xD I don't even know.

This is Fantasy, leave physics at the door. :P

And being pulled from all directions wouldn't work anyway, since it would essentially establish the planet as being in a LaGrange point, with a total gravitational force being exerted on it of nil.

@Raineh Daze how about there is demon trapped in the Planet which keeps it in place

If we do make the world a bowl putting another world on top of it seems kind of... weird? It'd be dividing the world up into two worlds when I really think we need to stick to one.

Also, honestly, we need to figure out a lot of things before we decide if demons are a thing and one would be stuck inside of a smaller planet floating above the other one.

The only reason I suggested the Inverted Black Tower is that it's kind of its own thing.

How about the whole 'Bowl Idea' is what the mortals of our world believe that's what their world looks like?

Hmmm... Building on that, maybe the "bowl" is the main continent of the world, and the mountains surrounding it are so tall that everyone just assumes it's the edge of the world? And the people outside the "bowl" initially don't really try to get inside because they believe it was made by the impact of a falling deity or something and thus is cursed land. Hmmm...

Just random ideas, I guess.

That could be kind of interesting, but it unfortunately kind of restricts having interactions between continents and stuff. Hmm.

It could be interesting, we'd just need two or three other continents.

Pertus sounds cooler. Isn't Marduk that named after a Mesopotamian Religion/God or something?
