The Gifted: Insurgency

Setting
After the impeachment of President Callahan the system that was established to exterminate metahumans has been removed. Today humans and metahumans live together with equal rights. However in the city of Los Angeles a new threat is rising. A Gifted supremacist group "The Scions of Divinity" has established their presence in LA and many other cities. You are a Sentinel, a highly trained agent of the CIR whose task is to destroy The Scions and protect what so many have worked so hard to create.
About Gifted
The Gifted have been categorized by most governments into three groups:
- Type 1 Gifted- Psychologicals, are individuals with subtle abilities, powers that aren't immediately seen(an example would be a Gifted having the power to mesmerize others by singing or causing people great discomfort when in their vicinity). Due to this group being the most common species of Gifted the Type 1s are often killed off or sold into slavery if captured.
- Type 2 Gifted- Physicals, Type 2 Gifted are individuals with visible powers such as manipulation of fire, ice, earth, etc. Type 2 Gifted are not as common as Type 1s and are often sought after by the government.
- Type 3 Gifted- The rarest of Gifted, Hybrids are Gifted with both Type 1 and 2 powers. Type 3s are hard to find as most who aren't in hiding are have already been captured or killed.
- Type 4 Gifted- About as uncommon as Type 2s, Trackers are Gifted with the sole ability of being able to sense other Gifted. As the only way to find a Gifted is be identifying if they have heterochromia Trackers are often used by Hunters to help them find other Gifted.
Organizations
- The Center for Interspecies Relations- Built off the original purpose of the DMA, the CIR employs both human and metahumans to act as peacekeeping force between the species. The main body of the CIR is The Enforcer Corps, the agents who patrol major cities and wherever a CIR building is established. Every applicant goes through a set of aptitude tests before they are inducted into the Corps. Once inducted and depending on whether they are human or metahuman they are partnered with an individual of the opposite race.
Then there is the upper echelon of Interspecies Law Enforcement, The Sentinels. A more humane version of The Warden Program, Sentinels are chosen from amongst the best Enforcers in the CIR. These candidates are put through extensive mental and physical training. Depending on the candidates choice, they are even given cybernetic augmentations to improve their field performance. The Sentinels are mainly used to deal with problems to big or too sensitive for regular Enforcers.
Lastly is the Research & Development Department. This branch of the CIR focuses on forensic analysis of crime scene evidence, development of new technologies, and researching the metahuman genome. - The Conclave- Once acting as a means of sanctuary and escape from persecution, The Conclave is now a global organization focused on teaching metahumans to control their abilities. The Conclave has many schools and universities around the world and has become a prestigious organization for its advanced facilities, numerous available fields of study for both humans and metahumans, along with its affordable price. Due to it being a key factor in the promotion of interspecies peace, The Conclave receives funding from hundreds of companies, organizations, and even governments. The most renowned of all Conclave Universities is The Manhattan Memorial Institute for Interspecies Advancement. Established in 2040 as a tribute to the small group of Gifted who began the revolution, The Manhattan Institute has become the most well known and most prestigious Conclave University in the world with many students finding jobs within a month of graduating regardless of their major. Today the CIR looks to MI for the recruitment of the next generation of peacekeepers.
- The Scions of Divinity- Many of its members were originally MRF members who continued the fight long after it was over. The Scions have grown in number as they tend to recruit metahumans susceptible to indoctrination such as the poor, the harassed, and adolescents. The Scions wre originally believed to be a cult promising paradise for the metahuman people but after the Las Vegas bombing it became more than a strange cult. The Scions are armed through black market deals and have access to some cybernetic enhancements not available to the public however these are for the high ranking members. The Scions typically wear white or black cloaks with a mask of the member's choosing. They also wear arm bands with different markings to distinguish rank. An eye represents new members who act as informants or couriers. A blade represents members who are not new but are not veterans and are mainly used as soldiers. A crow to significantly that they are a veteran whose purpose is to kill high priority targets, they are the scions' assassins. Lastly is the open palm which represents officers and leaders.
Rules
1.While there are visual powers like fire, water, lightening, etc. your character's abilities shouldn't be anything overly flashy. We'll work out a way to let you have the power you want without sacrificing the feel of the RP if the power you choose is OP or too flashy.
2.Fighting in OOC is not allowed but it is allowed in IC but lets not make it the center of the RP. The idea is to balance action with drama.
3. Your characters can swear but keep it to a minimum, gore as well. As for if your characters decide to get freaky under the sheets lets just have it fade to black or something. You can take it to PM if you want, we don't judge.
4. This should have been number one but oh well, what I or my Co-GM says is law(rispek mah authoritaay!). If there's a problem we'll solve it, if you have ideas for the plot of the RP then message us and we'll see if we can work it in.
5. Once your character is accepted DO NOT post their CS in the characters tab. I will do that for you to keep everything neat.
6. Post spamming is a no, try to include others in the character interaction.
7. Posts should be at minimum two paragraphs in length. This is a casual RP a post should have some meat on its bones.
