A thousand times sorry for how odd this post is. I'll do better in the future. It's just that its getting late over here, and I wanted to make absolutely sure I had this up before hitting the sack.

FyI: The world our characters are going to start in is a place called "Hub ZZX97" and its basically a multi-dimension crossroad where individuals have set up a city.

We'll have to set up a power set, which I suddenly find myself a bit confused about.

If anyone needs anything explained, or feels maybe some changes should be done with my post before we go any further please let me know and I'll try to oblige as best as I can :)

i Should have explained it better. You See, how I visualized it, was that we would choose a basic powerset that's not based on a character to start, putting it here just so the other players can have reference.

That would be the "holdout" ability set, so to speak. And at the end of the hub world, we'd get a glove like device called a resonator that would serve to be our key between the different worlds, and how we use the powers gained from those worlds.

Naturally, the first ability set would be basic, like fire control, or some kind of thing that can be as utilitarian as it is combative.

Oh okay. I get it now. So would the starter ability be open like for instance complete pyromancy, or would it be like an actual move set like (flamethrower, fire burst, burning touch, fiery aura,) OR would it be a set list like us making a list of moves that characters could choose from? Sorry if I'm over complicating things :(

*sneaks in*

Wow, the kind of multiverse I had in mind was completely different from what I'm seeing here - it's not much of a problem once I get the gist of everything.
Though being sleep-deprived and then trying to read @malmshodes starter IC is a bad idea.

"Hub ZZX97" can be something like a crossroad leading to the other universes beyond, unknown to our characters until they jumped into any one of them.
(Why am I repeating myself lol)

I'm not so certain about going in with a powerset, but some sort of intelligence-storage device that can help initiate dimension-traveling is something worth going for.

For me, instead of going with preset power, I think the device can have something that allows the characters to be able to learn and utilize different powers from each of the worlds they arrive in. Like, in each of these worlds they have their own set of rules with regards to the abilities unique to them.

EDIT: ...Or I'm probably not making any sense here. Feeling cranky when insomnia kicks in...

Well if you guys would like we could do a storage device. Maybe go with the special glove idea, or maybe something that looks like a cell phone, but is able to morph into something symbolic of the power we'd use in whatever universe we're in?

I'm not sure if you've ever heard of the manga Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and the anime Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha...or how about the popular RPG Kingdom Hearts?

Most of my inspirations are from TRC and KH with regards to the idea of multiverse: each world has their own set of laws and rules, which will apply to the possible abilities and powers in the respective worlds. For example, in KH's Peter Pan part, Sora and his friends can fly just like Peter Pan and co. after being doused in Tinker Bell's powder - but this doesn't work on any of the other Disney worlds they travel to.

As for the intelligent-storage device idea, it's from Lyrical Nanoha - the device can have a built-in AI with limited degree of autonomy that can act as a guide to our characters. The storage part is for our characters to be able to record and process the data required to gain and use the powers/abilities they learned from each world they arrive at.

Not sure if you get what I'm trying to say, but yep here's are my thoughts on this multiverse idea?

I've only played the first Kingdom Hearts, but I think I get what your saying. So each universe will have its own set of laws and we'll have a device which'll be our character's keys to using abilities in whatever world we're in? So does this mean our characters will be in some kind of computer? That's kind of what I'm getting out of the idea.

Not the character! XD The characters are still themselves (unless you intend to plunge them into hell later on as IC progresses) - the device they have is the "computer" to use the abilities they learned from each world + sort of a guide + a "key" to jump to the next world.

Oh okay(But hell, at lease one of them, would be a nice place to stop for a good rest XD)
But I get what you mean with regards to how the device is going to act.
Let's see what else?...
Mmm should there be a main villain, someone pulling the strings from behind, or would it be a matter of us going from one world to another, fixing things as we search for our own world?

How about both? (This seriously reminds me of TRC - travelers going from world to world in search for something while fixing/destroying these worlds, a bad guy pulling strings in the shadows but also meeting interference by other parties, major dark mind-screw/deconstruction thrown at the characters when the time for revelation comes.)

Setting wise, we need to come up with some worlds our characters can start off with, then make more along the way as RP progresses.

For characters, do you have a specific cast in mind - for example, the species, gender and whatnot - that you would like to see in this RP? Or we use ourselves instead?

Alrighty. I can do that :D

As for the first world I still like the idea of our first world be something of a nexus. Maybe a town surrounded by a random warping field so there are things from everywhere. Maybe, in this world, we'll get our device after doing something for a group of mutliverse travellers?

I kind of figured we'd go through the worlds as ourselves, but I'm open to something different.

I've never played as myself in a RP before, so this is new to me - hoping that this would be a fun experience for my first attempt!

That can work - something like a beginner quest in most online or video RPGs.

Me too!

Yeah exactly and then from there we'll start getting into other worlds and facing new enemies.
So, was there any particular worlds you'd like to see?
Also, any ideas for a first quest?
I was thinking maybe going after some kind of bounty could be our beginner quest?

If you don't mind a mix of original and fandom-based worlds, that is? I'm sure there are some of those fandom universes we would love to experience them...

That can work, like instead of getting the device right from the start (something like a starter pack in most RPGs), maybe we'll have to go through a test to see if we're worthy enough to get one. :P

Oh yea, where did the other guy go? Do I assume that this RP is just between you and me? ^^;

A test? Mmm I like the idea of a test. Any ideas on what you'd like to see?

Yea, I think we're on our own. :(

Which world would you like to go to after we finish with the hubworld? I know at one point I want our characters to pass through the marvel and DC universes.

Before that, we need to establish how and why we ended up in the hubworld. From there, maybe someone who maintains that place or the one who brought us there would issue the starter quest for us to do in order to obtain the device as a reward.

As for the quest itself something simple enough for us to complete without any major trouble. I'm thinking along the lines of "treasure hunt" of some sort for the NPC, or a basic test to prove our worth to the NPC.

Yea, I think we're on our own. :(

Hmm, if that's the case, maybe you can change the status to full and this becomes a 1x1? Unless you still want to look for more players?

I have no probs with that - actually, I'm thinking of expanding the fandom universes we can cross into as much as possible - be it comic books, literature, movies, animanga, games...anything we can think of (without messing up the core plot of the RP, of course).

@malmshodes

Hey there, I saw you're bumping the interest check for this RP in 1x1 section. So can I take it that this thread is officially dead then? :)

This is what I thought I posted earlier which I guess didn't go through for some reason.

I kind of like the idea of it Almost being a random occurrence. My idea was someone, or something was causing problems in the multiverse and that was leading to rifts where things just sort of spontaneously went from one plain of existence to another.

So the actual quest would be really simple. Hmmmm... What if the guy was attacked by some kind of bandits. The thing is he doesn't really know what they stole since it was kind of like a storage war scenario were he bought all the stuff from an unpaid for storage locker and then one of the people who lost the bid took everything. He doesn't really care about what's in there he just wants us to get the stuff back from whoever stole from him(He plans on getting revenge on his own.) Since he doesn't know what's in there he won't care about the devices we'll get. Idk I just like this idea because I can't think of many ways our characters would get devices like the ones were talking about as a reward for a really simple task.

Welp - apologies for the late response! Been trying to clear RP backlogs accumulated from the delay due to haze in my region...

Anyway.

This reminds me of Dissidia FF, which has a similar concept: the heroes/villains from the various main titles were brought together into an omniworld; the cause of the problem is the fight between Cosmos and Chaos. Something like that?

I'm not trying to say it has to be that simple - it IS a device that allows the user to jump across the parallel worlds freely, of course there must be some decent obstacles that we have to get through to prove themselves worthy to get it.

As for me, I was thinking along the lines of something with a bit of fun: some creature (or bandit) stole an item from one of us - we would chase it to its hideout, where we found out there's a mountainous stash of stolen treasures hidden inside. We would probably met a NPC who was also a victim like us; in exchange for reclaiming back his stolen possession, he would give each of us the device--- Ok, I'm really thinking along the lines of those starter quests in most video/MMO RPGs. ^^;

Also noticed the thread bump in the check - maybe we can get more people to do this together? Tbh this idea works better with more players but maybe keep that to a max of 4?

Just to let you know that I'm not able to be online that often, bi-weekly frequency is the best I can manage for now. If you feel that a 2-week wait is too long then I'm afraid I'll have to really drop this... :/ I cannot keep up with speed-posting, and I like to spend time to do a good IC response rather than churning out a pointless post just to keep the game going on to nowhere.
