Full Name: Lil(Lily) Ashbourne

Appearance/Looks:
Currently missing her left pinky...

Age: 15

Gender: Female

Birthday: 12/7/2000

Spieces: Mutant

Power: Ice Manipulation

Coates or Townie: Coates (not a bad kid but she has trouble focusing)

Personality: Lil is the spitting image of innocence. If someone were to tell her a dirty joke there isn't a chance she would get it. If someone were to jump out and scare her, she would scream. When it comes to bullies, she is the always the one that's ducks her head and tries to avoid the situation. Basically everything that is Coates Academy isn't her.

Brief History: Lil was born in San Francisco. Her mother was Elizabeth, Jack's younger sister. Before Lil was born, her father walked out on them, leaving her mother to raise the baby on her own. Elizabeth had always regretted moving away from Perdido Beach and her dead brother, so before Lil turned one she moved back. While Lil grew up it became evident of two things. Lil was quiet and shy. It took her a long time to say her first word. Elizabeth always put it off to her father having left before she was born. The second thing was that Lil was diagnosed with inattentive ADHD. She could never focus in school and thus was sentenced to Coates Academy.

Hi, @wintergrey. Just a question, and an observation...

Does Lily have ADD or ADHD? Does she have hyperactivity within her behavior? That's important, because while they may be connected to the same thing, there is a difference of having hyperactivity and not having it. I wanted the clarification.

Lils condition is probably closer to innatentive ADHD. I'll fix it in a bit.

I will post soon.

@wintergrey sure, that works, although ADHD itself is inattentive and hyperactive, in short... That's the premises, the only difference is that there's hyperactivity. :)

well there are different types of ADHD. True the most common is with both but it is possible to get only one or the other.

It might be wise to do a little bit more research before you give a character a disorder.

I don't believe in 3 types of ADHD, it is, a disorder of inattention, difficulty in concentration and focus, and hyperactivity/impulsivity. I don't see why it has 3 types. My abnormal psychology book's DSM doesn't break it down like that. Can you please just call it 'ADHD?" if she experiences hyperactivity and 'ADD' if she's not? A disorder is a disorder, if there is a symptom that's not welcomed, well, it is there and it will never go away. It's almost like saying "are you depressive-fatigued?', or 'depressive-restlessness?' no, they're a bunch of symptoms within the disorder.

Sorry but I dont see why everyone has to fall under one category. Every single person is different, every time they get an infection or are born with a disorder it is different, even if it is in such a slight fashion that we cant tell. And I can't really change it to include hyperactive because that would ruin the shy innocent look that i'm going after with the character.

Ill let the GM decide

People certainly act different with disorders, sure, granted they do. However, they all have symptoms that falls under one category of that disorder. If there is one symptom unpleasing to someone, well, too bad - it's not going away. People with ADHD can sure as heck be shy and innocent. That has nothing to do with it, winter. ADD/ADHD is about inattention and hyperactivity/impulsive, not being shy and innocent.

Dear winter grey, dear, dear, winter grey.... There are many people who are like that and I have met them. ADHD is a complex disorder; it does not affect your shyness or innocence whatsoever.

I agree there are people like that. The world is full of complex people. I'm just saying I'm not nearly a good enough writer to be able to capture the idea of that kind of person.

This is a disorder that should not be glamorized or written to be "cool". It is a disorder that millions of people suffer from, even doing the smallest bit of activities. This disorder is called a disorder for a reason - the definition itself is "a state of confusion", or "disrupt the systematic functioning or neat arrangement of". Their daily lives are disrupted and normal tasks easy for persons without disabilities is harder for them.

You can always improve upon your writing, too. Don't set yourself short. :)

I know it is a serious disorder and im not trying to make it "cool." I'm only using it as an excuse for Lil to be in Coates. Her being there is important for how i want my characters to develop. If you can think of a better reason for her to be there that doesn't go against the shy innocent look im interested in, please let me know and ill consider changing it.
