Parts of the guild are scary and I don't know why

Ok so like, I haven't group rpd for years. That makes me feel casual. My posts however tend to make the best of what I'm given, which makes me feel like I'm higher than causal. But then I realize that in dumb and English is hard. So I feel casual. But then the casual rp section makes me (usually) want to acquaint my face with the nearest wall. But the thought of going advanced...

It scares me? Like, ima let them down n shit. I guess I come from the good ole days when advanced was pages and pages a post at at least a college level? But holy shit something about that part of the guild scares me and I don't know why or how

Any one else feel the same?

Also yes I know we all fear the spam section.

It used to scare me too. Best advice is just throw yourself in the deep end. Some Advanced want 5 paragraphs, others don't mind a little less, depending on their specifics mentioned in the rules.

Try to find middle ground. I find that a very long page can be off putting and that most people wont read it anyway, especially if they are not involved in that post. So you're efforts are wasted. Whilst for conversations, reactions can be limited as you can only explain a characters actions so much in one paragraph without trying to mod the other roleplayer.

Most Advanced members I've met are quite easy going though. :)

With the players joining our advanced RP, we care about what they write and what they achieve with it, not how long they write. Sometimes, a post can be nigh-essay length, other times it can just be the two-three decent paragraphs. We don't even worry about how much of the setting lore they know before joining, so long as they are willing to learn and don't have trouble looking things up and/or asking questions.

So long as the grammar isn't atrocious, we generally won't point out problems with that IC, unless the player has made it clear (s)he wants such errors pointed out for the sake of self-improvement.

We personally tend to be strict on players' sheets so we can relax more when they get approved for writing IC. We've barely had any IC posts that needed to be rewritten using that system, and we've got a lot of players.

Advanced isn't so fearsome a beast as many seem to think. So like @Angel Vicky said, jump in the deep end, @BeanieBaggie. Advanced might bite a little, but those teeth are all freshly brushed, so the bite won't be septic, nor will any limbs be bitten off.

I feel like most advanced RPs have a 'quality over quantity' policy. I was freaked out by advanced at first, but then I realized it actually fit me way more and I'm far more comfortable there than in casual. I've never seen someone get called out on post length, really. As long as it's over 2 paragraphs but not a memoir and you keep a watchful eye on spelling and grammar then you should be fine.
