Howdy! Howdy! Hopefully this introduction finds you all well. I must admit, I fear that as someone well over 20, with a degree, and a full-time job, I may be the oddball up here. Yes, I'm of the "older set" who watched Star Wars: A New Hope at a drive in, and cut my teeth on Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. I hope this doesn't detract any interest. *look of concern* Honest, I did happily escape from a cubicle farm, and am now living the better life at a university.

As the handle says, I'm a Game Mistress (as opposed to Dungeon Master, or Game Master), and I've had the exceeding good fortune to both run regular table-top games for friends over the years, as well as one-shots at gaming and sci-fi/fantasy conventions. I've also written collaboratively over the years with some great folks, and have even seen one work become an e-book (though I still desperately want to re-work it).

Sufficed to say, I work full time (though I get a lot of down time), am married, have a school-aged kiddo, a dog, and two house-rabbits. We are not "normal" at all, being that we're the kind of folks who go to opening nights for Marvel and LOTR movies, are members in a "maker/hacker" group (think 3-D printers, etc. built from scratch), and *gasp* I've given a bulk of my Star Wars stuff to my kiddo to play with; I didn't collect for money, I collected because I liked something.

So, as I said, I like fantasy stories and role-playing games, adore Sir Terry Pratchett's work, as well as Neil Gaman's writings. I've been a fan of Doctor Who since Tom Baker, and I'm thrilled that all sorts of fandoms are up and running on Tumblr (I remember when all we had was typed newsletters and fanzines). I like anime, though I'm far from current on it due to just sheer lack of time to watch the stuff (if it's not Studio Ghibli, or Ghost in the Shell, I probably haven't seen it).

And I just write.

(good to meet you all!)

Hello! Welcome to the guild! I'm sure you'll find likeminded individuals in the big ol' clump of users that are here. That sounded weird, but I'm running with it. We'er a clump.

@tobiax Gathering, Gaggle, Murder (which is used for crows), Pride, Tribe, Pod, they'd all work. :-) Clump works, too. Kinda makes me think of atoms, and how they clump together, and the clumping keeps going until the universe.

I knew about the crows, not so much atomic clumping in specific. I'm typically either looking for something to join, or players for an rp I'm running if you don't mind my mentioning. I wouldn't mind being looked up for such an occasion, hope I'm not being rude. Looking for something that'll really take off, although an interesting one-shot isn't out of the picture.

@tobiax I'm up for a one-shot. I've found it helps me shake out an idea to see what works, what doesn't, and modify it from there. I can sling around a few ideas if you don't mind something in the fantasy genre, which means we could set it in any historically inaccurate time (sorry, I have neither Krynn, nor Forgotten Realms maps emblazoned on the backs of my eye lids).

A group of pandas is an embarrassment. ^.^ Welcome to the Guild, though.
I've never played Dungeons and Dragons before. Sounds fun.

Ah, I see. I've been toying with the idea of starting one myself recently, as I've had a surge in interest for something specific, but I just recently started a rather long term one, or rather, am gathering players for it. I don't mind fantasy, actually tend to prefer it. Aren't those the best? (I'd have to admit I'm less familiar than you at those. I'm relatively new to tabletop style/dice using/mechanics wielding systems/rp's. I have read a large portion of the D&D 3.5 manual though. There's actually one of those that I've made/am making myself, the core-book really. Very version 1. Needs testing, and it dawned on me that a one-shot might do as well as a full campaign. I have a full campaign started, but posting has been slow, and the system is naturally slow to being battle-ready, and I'm not sure what could be done to expedite it for testing purposes.)

Wow, could I be more parenthetical? Looks like an early 2000's college research paper, haha.

@PajkaNight I'll have to keep that in mind, an embarrassment of pandas. It makes me think of a group of pandas blushing after getting caught doing something they didn't want to be seen. That, and your hiding hider is a hoot.

I have to admit that I've enjoyed Dungeons and Dragons because of the people I've played with, and the settings for the games, the plots. I have a soft spot for gold dragons, my own opinion about how magic should be run in a game/story (but I understand why they have the rules the way they do in the game system). I've also enjoyed taking it out of pre-made settings and instead just using what I wanted in a completely original world or tale.

That's kinda how I work, "Take what you like, change what you need, and just leave the rest behind." Needless to say, I'm neither a statistics or rules lawyer.

@Game MistressThose who make it to the end of my hiders are rewarded, but not many make it alive.
