Argus had been enjoying himself on the local ale. It tasted great, not like the waterd down ale he had been drinking all this time. He was just about to take his fourth keg when an nice looking elf lass walked into the bar. She didn't look half that bad to be honest but there was something else that drew Argus attention. The clothes she wore where that of the Templar order. And before Argus could look away she was already approaching him.

"I couldn't help but notice your sigil and that you aren't from here. I too am a member of the Knights of the Dawn. I am knight corporal Tabetha Lockwell. What brings you here?"

Before Argus could respond in anyway Glodin took over. "Oi, Young'in, seems you have an admirer that outclasses us both, in rank and looks."

Argus chuckled amused that an elf would bear any interest in him.

"An admirer? Well as my rank is greater than yours it wouldn't be in both parties interest to have a romantic getaway. Just think of the drama, it'd be scandalous! Though to be fair, both of you don't strike my fancy." Argus laughed at that last comment. For an elf she sure had some humor in here.

"The only thing that caught my eye was this sigil of yours. Who leads your party?"

Argus noticed that here rank was a little higher than here. But since he was a little drunk already all sorts of code and conduct had long flown out of the window."The leader of my still alive party members. Are lead by our oh so sweet Captain Evelyn Sunderland. The name's Argus by the way." Argus then reached out with his left hand.

"Tabetha," she repeated as she shook his hand, noting to herself that it was barely noon and already the dwarfs were a little bit tipsy. That last sentence made her hesistant. From the sounds of it, they lost a good number of people traveling here. How far exactly did they travel to get here and for what purpose? She looked carefully at Argus as she shook his hand. She gave a tiny smile.

"Where did you come from? It must have been a tough journey coming here," she said as she released her grip.

Two mugs of ale slam down on the table of Argus and Glodin, "Well, while I wasn't at the keep, I was close by and from what I saw. Well actually I'm not gonna say anything I'll let these two stone brains tell you." A female dwarf with golden hair and a bright smile sits herself down next to Argus, slightly eyeing Tabetha the dwarf reaches out her hand, "While I'm only Knight-Seragent, I can hold my own. The name Kylie by the way, Kylie Bronzeblade." Using her free hand Kylie chugs down one of the mugs of ale, retracting her hand and slamming it on the table with a loud thud. "Ahhhh..., not as good as true dwarven ale but it does the trick." Slamming down next to Glodin, with bottle and mug, a very drunk Karl appears,"Well, now ishn't that shweet. *hic* Nice to meet you Kylie." Karl's body flops down slamming into the table then instantly straightens. "Woah! What a wake up!"

Glodin waits his turn to introduce himself, "Glodin Stonequarry, Knight-Templar and blacksmith. Will do more work to keep your blades and hammers keen than I will out in the field but dont let that fool you, I can hold my own in a battle." The dark bearded dwarf nodded to the two ladies that he just had the pleasure of meeting and reached out his hand to shake just as Karl came in in a drunken stupor. "Wake up call, huh? Come with me lad, I'll make sure you are wide awake." Glodin lifts the man up by his collar and to his feet, before bringing him closer to the bartender and asking for some cold water. The moment the dwarf had the glass in his hand he splashed Karl in the face. "That ought to 'elp sober you up lad. Don't wanna be completely shit-faced infront of company." Glodin waited a moment for Karl to gather himself before he rejoined the group a few feet away. "Sorry about tha', some of us are taking what happened harder than others."

With a sigh and a chuckle Marco turned around after he heard Evelyn's voice behind him, jokingly saying "and i try so hard" taking his hand off the stab wound which had already stopped bleeding. "You look like you've had a rough day Evelyn" his smile faded to a more concerned look "I do hate to add to what i'm assuming to be a growing list of problems but Landeel has gone missing and, well...perhaps we could find somewhere else to dicuss the rest" he grimaced and rubbed his side "somewhere with a chair..."

"Rough is putting it mildly, come let's talk in my quarters. Times like these the walls have ears", Evelyn looked down the hall to see if there were any suspicious characters. Satisfied by the sight of a couple of guards on patrol she headed back towards the quarters.

On the way towards her chambers Evelyn couldn't help but notice the new patrol set up. The order to pair up had spread quickly and now each patrol was comprised of two king's guard, suspiciously watching themselves and any passers-by. The atmosphere of the castle was tense as many were wondering as to why these orders were given. The suspicion of a conspiracy was kept secret but that didn't stop the men from formulating theories of their own.

Once inside her room Evelyn once again checked the space for any signs of intruders. Once her search revealed no signs of another she, quickly closed the door to the room and pulled up a chair by the table. "You said that Landeel was missing. I thought he was with us this whole time? I assume he went missing after our audience with the king, correct?"

Marco followed Eveyln back to her quarters and watched with a slightly amused expression as she checked the room, followed quickly by another sigh and him murmuring 'we can't even trust our own beds' to himself. Once she was apparently satisfied that they were alone in the room he pulled up a chair of his own and sat down at the table "Yes, he dissappeared somewhere in the city...and I have a dreadful feeling that I know where he's gone..."

"You do? Care to explain?", that last part caught Evelyn's attention. What about where Landeel went would give Marco a dreadful feeling? It was then that Evelyn had a moment of clarity. She remembered what she had heard of Landeel and his past. Of his betrayal of The Order and now things started to make some sense. The deaths of Bartuc and Ruinil, she'd previously thought it to be the work of that assassin but now a new theory revealed itself. It could be possible that Landeel remains an enemy of The Order, working in secret to dismantle the organization from within. But to work for a creature such as Sar'than, to bring about the collapse of an entire world...for now she'd say nothing, further investigation was needed but as of now Landeel would be a suspect.

"Aye, I do, I could see it in him on the journey here but i wasn't sure" he paused for a second "you remember the civil war, yes? The knight-commander that betrayed the order. He was...never caught, he escaped during the last months of the war and went into hiding, I fear that, with the order weakened as it is, that he will come back to finish the covenant, that's what I wanted to talk to you about before... I believe that one of his agents had something to do with the deaths of your templars...and that Landeel was involved as well"

There was a long silence which gave way to an overwhelming feeling of tension in the air as Evelyn eyed Marco. Her gaze was stern and unmoving as she watched Marco with her mind hard at work. "You realize what this means? If what you say is true then Landeel is an enemy of The Order, if he is responsible for the deaths of Ruinil and Bartuc...I can only promise a fair trial. Nothing more. He will have to answer for all of this and if found guilty...his majesty will decide his fate", Evelyn got up from her seat and walked over to her armor stand "So where is he? You and I are going to find him and return him here for questioning"

"I know who he's gone to but I don't know where they are" He watched Evelyn go for her armor "even if we did track him down he'd die before we captured him" He stood up and walked behind her "He's not my worst concern anyway, I know Ghislain will try something with what's going on here in the capitol, you ordered us into pairs let me be your partner"

Evelyn's hand had just grabbed one of her gauntlets when Marco asked for them to partner up. "Let me ask you this. How is it that you know so much of Ghislain? Many believe him to be dead but you claim otherwise", Evelyn turned to face Marco with a hand on her hip..the side where her dagger was sheathed.

"I've been after him since his disappearance, his escape was my fault I wasn't able to stop him, I hesitated" he looked away for a moment before staring straight back at Evelyn "He's my father, how was I to kill him then?"

Evelyn stood there for a moment, unsure of what to say. Finally with a sigh she put down her gauntlet before answering, "I'm sorry Marco, but as I said before I can only promise a fair trial. Should he appear again I will have no choice but to bring him in. Right now, what matters most is getting to the bottom of what's going on in this city. Lieutenant Taegen is currently assisting me with the investigation and tonight we plan to meet with an informant. You're free to join us if you wish". Evelyn side stepped Marco to head for the door, "In the meantime we're going to speak with the royal family, see if any of them knows anything and possibly deduce who's the conspirator". Evelyn headed out the door before immediately re-entering, "I just remembered I'm not in proper attire for an audience with the king. Please step out for a moment".

"I understand Evelyn, I intend to help however I can" He stepped past her and went for the door, saying "I'd preferr if we kept the bit about Ghislain being my father between us for now, please" before stepping outside and waiting just by the door for the Knight-Captain.

Marcus / Theodore

The trip from the Isles was easier thanks to aid from the Ocular, a portal had been created for expedience for the party heading to Farendar, a joint task mission that involved the continued support of Marcus Deadeye and the new addition of Theodore Doubleblade, whom had been been wanting to go on this adventure since Marcus has first brought it to light. The motivation for this was within his grasp as the 10 strong group exited the rift on the outskirts of Farendar.

Marcus issued orders to the Wraiths and Revenants to protect Evelyn Sunderland and her soldiers, keep eyes on them at all times and report back regularily to Marcus if they found anything of important or even noteworthy.

"Master Doubleblade, I am off to find Sunderland. I suspect she is in the castle. Do you wish to accompany me?"

"Sorry lad. I've got an errand I have to run. Been ages since I've seen a tavern that wasn't attached to a damn alchemancers workshop. Half the drink in the isles is poisonous for no good reason."

With a shrug they both parted ways with promises to contact one another that same night.

-------------------------

Theodore Doubleblade strut through the streets with his head held high, drawing the stares of everyone to his ashen skin and great grey beard, the seemingly lifeless eyes scanning everyone around him looking for his target. Theodore had asked frequently about the capture of Tyr, asking what this Argus creature looked like and promises not to harm the lad in any way, trying to make a good first impression.

Theos armor shone in the low light, polished black steel with plated greaves and gauntlets etched with various runes into the rare obsidian and mithril mixture he had created at great expense, creating a deep blue tint and strong resistance. The gauntlets alone may cost a kings randsom to recreate, but to the deep dwarf it was worth the extravagance.

"Now then..." Theo rubbed his beard as he scanned the taverns lining the street, asking around had gotten some results as more than a few had informed the deep one that 'a pair of rowdy bearded folk came runnin' this way not too long ago' as they put it. Which to Theo meant they were being tactful about saying the pests were out in force tonight.

Theodore grinned and readjusted his belt, a golden affair featuring a set of jaws snapping shut. It was time to make an appearance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Marcus Deadeye

The door to Evelyn Sunderlands room closed, Marco on the other side likely waiting patiently, but the watcher had more important things to do. Discipline allowed him to go unnoticed, where he was hiding was not important, what WAS important was the news overheard. Landeel a traitor, Marcos desires, Evelyns suspicions, all of it was forming a bigger picture in his mind. Time would show the hands of this enemy once and for all so it was time to show his support.

The swirl of smoke that was Marcus materialized without a sound behind the knight captain and he spoke softly with the softest click of his pistol, ready to be fired, but was not pointed at the her. "You fear spies yet talk so openly. I'm in awe. If I could get in, what is to stop others?" Marcus put his finger to Evelyns lips before she could say anything and urged her to be quiet, pointing back at the door.
A short check of the room revealed nothing alarming or ominous, so he holstered the firearm and gave a shallow bow. "Apologies. I cannot stay long but I have news."

He motioned for her to sit and began. "Allies watch the shadows of your templars now, and your own most of all. A strange dwarf in black armor walks the streets, looking for one of your own. There will be blood but this black armored warrior is no enemy."
Marcus was ordinarily a level headed man, but this woman had earned a measure of his faith from their admittably short time together. "The prisoner at Thanremere was released by me." He held up his hand to stop the inevitable tirade that would no doubt have sputtered forth, instead he urged her to remain calm. "She is more of an ally to the Order than I am, but she is the one who works where nobody watches. She has information on everything that happens in Farendar, of this I do not doubt, but I must find her. I tell you this now in complete secrecy, Sunderland. If word of our meeting is leaked it will be both our heads that roll. I will see to it that you and 'red' meet in private soon. Until then," He touched his weapon and put a finger to his lips with a soft shhh and turned to smoke, gone without a trace.

Truly Marcus wished to tell her everything but could not risk it.

----------------------------------------

Theodore Doubleblade

Four taverns later the old Dwarf finally found what he had been searching for. A damnable seat! Walkin' around lookin' for trouble isn't as fun as it used to be. Whole darn city smells like the ass end of a griffin after lunch time. An hour of searching and he had not caught so much as a beard hair of any dwarves, let alone the ones he was searching for. Theo promptly took a seat at the bar counter and slid a silver coin to the tender, two ales placed in front of him with a nodded thanks.
With both hands he threw back the tankards one at a time, emptied the contents in a single gulp, and slammed them down on the counter with a contented sigh.

The fellow beside him got splashed with water, a very familiar tone of voice caught Theos ears. Theo spun in his chair to get a good look at the crowd and wouldn't you know it, at a table not 10 feet away sat two dwarf lads, an exquisite female elf, and a piece of arse so refreshing you could clean a dusty cellar with it.
The thought occured to him that his target was likely sitting there with this group of templars was really an afterthought as he motioned for the barkeep to bring a fresh pitcher of ale, a bottle of whatever the elf was drinking, and the strongest pitcher of ale in the house for the Dwarf Woman.

"Time ta see if ol' Doubleblade still knows his way around." His grin was almost predatorly as he hopped from the stool and approached the table, the drinks already being placed by a hostess with a gesture to the approaching figure. Grey bearded, ashen skin, and black steeled, Theo dropped the pretense of formality and grabbed Kylies hand, placing a kiss on it real gentle before tossing a playful wink. "Your drinks are on me. Maybe when I'm done workin' I can get somethin' else on me." Besides the chains they were gonna place him in when he finished his business.
He glanced at the table and met everyones eyes briefly. "Names Theodore Doubleblade. Deurgar Dwarf. Any of you war boys go by the name of Argus Starcrusher?" His smile was extremely polite and he stood unthreateningly.

Argus looked up when his name was mentioned. He then looked at Theodore and said." Aye that is my name what can i do for ya?"

Theodores fist crunched into his nose with a resounding CRACK, but didn't stop there. With a growl Theo leapt across the table to tackle Argus to the ground, left hand firmly pinning him to the ground while the other struck in in the face and chest. "YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THAT TO ME GIRL DO YA? ILL TEACH YOU WHAT IT MEANS TO KIDNAP A LADY"
Of course Theodore had no idea the real events that had transpired between Argus and Tyr, all he knew was the Dwarven explorer here had knocked her out and locked her up.

Argus was completly caught by suprise. The hit to his nose stunned him for a moment as Theodore started wacking on him.Argus felt nothing of that all he felt was his nose broken and swelling up. He looked at Theodore his left eye twitiching." You broke my nose." he said with no emotion in his tone.

"Yeah and you chained up my neice! Drugged her! You stick your business where it don't belong?!" He threw another haymaker to the side of the Dwarfs head.

The hit stung a little but Argus wasnt really concerned with that all. All he was thinking about was how he was gonna fuck him up! Argus raised his feet and with a roar that sounded more animal that men kicked Theodore away from him with such a force that he flew for a moment before crashing into a table. Argus then stood up and ran at theodore. giving him a haymaker in his left jaw. " YOUR GONNA APOLOGIZE FOR BREAKING MY NOSE! YOU FARRUKING BLACKSHIT !!

Theodore hit the table with a thud and the sound of snapping wood under his weight, tossing civilians and ale not just all over himself but everyone seated at the table. As he stood up to charge again the wild dwarf hit him square in the jaw with a haymaker to make his forefathers proud. Stars flashed in his eyes as Theodore staggered back a bit before he spat a droplet of blood on the ground.

"AFTER YOU APOLOGIZE FOR TREATIGN MY NEICE LIKE A CRIMINAL, STARFLUFFER"
Theodore struck a quick low jab with his left hand, a faint Argus fell for expectedly as he turned to step to the side of it. Theodore put all his weight into his right hand and twisted with the punch directly to Argus' chest with the force of an ogre. But it didn't end there.
With a muttered oath too horrible for human ears he struck Argus with a kick to the side of the knee and grabbed his face. A roar had Argus in both hands flying through the glass window nearby onto the empty streets.

Theo was quick to jump out the window after his target, a madman in pursuit of victory. On the stone walkway lay the dwarf. "Oh ye' fall down once and give up for good eh, starnothing?" Theo didn't bother to check if the man was concious or not, gloating over the fallen dwarf.

Argus had a slow motion moment as he flew through the air. There was nice classic music in the background as someone sung a beatifull ophera. That moment quickly disappeared though as he flew through the window crashing into the hard stone street. The cold rain was falling on his face. taking the pain away from the punches he had recieved. Then the black dwarf looked at him with a face so smug he seemed like a fat merchant fuck who had just ripped someone off.Argus face was not angry anymore. Now it was a face so angry that the raindrops that were falling on it disapeard in puffs of smoke.
Argus stood up and looked at him before running at him with great speeds bear hugging him.First they crashed through the door the wood flying everywhere. Then he started crashing through chairs and tables roaring the entire time. Then he crashed Theodore's face into on of the giant kegs at the bar. And the best thing about all this? He was smiling the entire time.

Theo saw the young brass move with astonishing speed. Normally this would be a point where the smug old bastard realized he might have over guessed his own against the youngling and done something fancy but that wasn't why they were here. Kid was MAD. Theodore was having more fun now than in the last 100 years on that island with those uppity trainees learnin' ta be something they weren't supposted to be.
The tackle drove Argus' shoulder just below the chestpiece and blew Theos breath away the same as he'd done to the youngster earlier. Felt good to fight again! By the GODS was it exhilerating!
Theo had stopped focusing on the fight too long and returned to the forefront just as his face connected with the oak and steel ringed barrel of ale rested at the bar. Metal bend out of shape and the cask exploded under the weight of the hit, dropping Theodore to the ground in a daze. For the first time in what felt like a century someone had dropped his ass in a fair fight.

Stars danced over his eyes as he tried to recall what had brought this on. Did he say sorry? "TA' HELL WITH THAT" He roared, furious for a reason he couldn't quite remember at the moment but he DID remember this no good beardling had rammed him bodily into good beer. Sacrilege!
"You fight like a gnome, son, and thats as low as it gets." Picking himself off the floor with a shake of his head sent beer flying from his beard.

Argus knew what a gnome was. and knowing that it was a pretty bad insult. So Argus started wacking Theodore's head with a keg and screamed." A*smashPO *smash LO smash* GI *smash ZE!! He then threw the keg away grabbed Theodore by the head and smashed his face into the bar. He then proceeded to ram his face accros it crashing into every bottle before sending him flying against a wall." And for the record! That oh so nice of a niece of yours threatend to kill me!! You should have taught her better. What are you the drunken uncle who sits in the corner all day!!
Argus was standing on the bar and ready to jump on him.

Theodore landed in a heap again, beer and shards of glass all over his face and beard. The indignation from this junkyard little BASTARD! Theo rolled onto his stomach and shook his head again, AGAIN removing the beer and glass from his majestic facial hair. "You fixin'a put me to SLEEP boy! STEP UP YOUR GAME."
Argus crashed into the black armored dwarf in a heap of fists and facial hair, both woozy and angry and probably more than a little drunk, a dozen cuts between the two. Both had regained their feet and were grappling one another with a growl when Theo let go and took a step to the side while pulling Argus forward, slipping under the wild grab for support from Argus before the son of a gnome crashed headlong into the wall. Theodore kicked him in the rump so hard the dwarfling came out the other side in a heap.

"For your INFORMATION, you disrespectful clump of troll sweat, I AM HER UNCLE. You better thank your stars she didn't kill you the moment you made eye contact." Having been a part of her training, Theodore knew full well what Tyr was capable of and had seen her do such things up close and personal on more than one occassion. That girl was as fiery as her hair!
Theodore took his two-headed axe off his belt and threw it, embedding in the wall above to barkeep. No sense letting instinct make this fight a murder.

"GET UP, boy, I ain't through with your sorry pale ass. Gonna pay tenfold what you did to her purity!" By this time he was beginning to sweat and patrons had long since fled into the night. The sound of guards on the march caught his ear but that didn't bother him in the slightest.

" I just thinks she likes me. Argus said with a grin before giving Theodore a resounding headbutt." And if you must know you lovely bastard i never laid a hand on her. At least not that she wanted it anyway. Hell she was basicly flirting with me at one point!! Also she really needs to work on her attitude. I mean its not like you go threatening someone who was taking a bath in a hot spring!! With that said he punched Theo in the face dropping him on the ground. He then grabbed one of Theos feet and started spinning around." NOW DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GET OUT OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT !! He then let go and saw Theo flying through the other window. That was now also broken." AND STAY OUT!!

A piece of stone struck Argus in the nose bang on from the window, the sound of grunt as Theo rose to his feet once more. "Fuckin' kids tossin' me through windows." Theo placed his hands on his hips and stretched back with a crack. "Gonna give myself a hernia.."
For a few tense moments it seemed like the raging dwarf had really wandered off into the night until the sounds of shouting could be heard. The guards had come in force to the sound of commotion. Half a dozen well armed soldiers had come to the sound of a drunken outburst, believing those numbers to be sufficient to deal with two fighters.

There was a muffled sound outside the bar before Theodore kicked open the door, panting, all six guards laying on the ground as some sort of greenish mist swirled around his body. "Nothin' serious. Takin' a non-lethal nap. Now!" Theadore cracked his neck from side to side as he approached slowly with balled fists. "This ain't over till one of us is on the GROUND for good." Not DEAD obviously, but he imagined neither of the stubborn folk were about to let this matter rest.

Theodore wondered in the back of his mind, the front of it was focused on hitting the impertinent youngling, what had happened to the group this one was with. Didn't matter to him at that moment overly much.

His backhand caught Argus on the chin even as a booted foot took out Theodores knee, dropping him down but not out. They locked arms in a tackle and thrashed about the room in a flurry of shouted oaths and curses.

"Ye don't TALK about me neice that way, moontickler, she is a woman of royalty! You sully her name with your slanderous talk!" He scoffed, spitting another wad of blood and a tooth onto the dirty floor. "I heared different from your superior officer, Marcus Deadye. Said you went above and beyond on this one! Hope you enjoyed it!"

Argus was panting sweat falling from his face. He was stunned by what the black had done to the guards who had intervened. In Argus'es drunk mind one thing was certain. Ifyou fuck with the guards you better have an army with ya. Then The old man started throwing the usual barrage of insults his way. Argus shrigged not really carring that much about it. Argus was imppressed by the blackskin to be sure. It had been years since he had a good old bar fight. And this one was one given by the gods. However before Argus could punch back he heard boots clattering in unison. And from what he was hearing it was a lot of boots. So Argus, still in Theodores clutches, looked at the man with a bit of panic on his face." Unless you can do that trick of yours again i say we get the hell out of here before that small army takes us.

Theodore sighed and looked to the door uneasily. "I could but that invites MORE trouble. Mark my words, we ain't finished but I ain't spendin' my first time in this city in a damn jail cell!" He laughed at the raucous idea the other dwarf was likely already thinking. Time for a good old fashioned getaway! "Lead the way boy!"

Argus laughed and padded Theo on the back." You're not that bad for an old drunken uncle. He said before running out of the bar grabbing his hammer. Theodore, having retrieved his axe, running just behind him. Argus looked around and to his despair saw what seemed to be an entire bloody army walking to them. Argus had the most craziest idea a dwarf could have. He saw a cart loaded with ale, tied to a single rope." Follow me if you want to live! He ran up to the cart smashed the rope and started pushing the thing towards the one street that wasnt closed up. He then jumped into the cart and had immediate regrets once he saw the steep hill.

Theodore put his back into it, shoving the cart and jumping into the back, realizing at the same time Argus did where this thing was headed. the main gate to the inner city! A steep decline, no less. His heart raced frantically at the thrill of it all! The rain poured on the streets with dull smacks as the cart accelerated down the hill getting faster and faster.
"Hold onta yer gems lad this is gonna be a bumpy one!" He shouted, turning his head to see the guards on the run to catch sight of the escaping offenders and aid the other sleeping guards. Lets pray this crazy dwarf doesn't get me killed along side him!

Argus screamed a long scream as they came down the hill. He then saw all his moments in his life flash by. It wasn't that long so it was over quick. He then prepared to jump away not wanting to crash into the gate.
On the count of three!! One! Two! FUCK IT JUMP!!

Both dwarves bailed at the same time, hitting the ground in a roll as the kart of ale crashed into the city gate with a deafening crash, the barrels of ale exploding in a spray. "This way!" Theodore took off in a dead sprint with Argus in tow, making for an alleyway. "We gotta dissappear! Fast!"

Argus looked around frantically trying to find a way out. The he saw it. A small sewer grate and there freedom behind it." That way !! He said drawing his warhammer. For a moment Argus focused as The hammer started to glow. He then readied himself to smash the grate.

Theodore grabbed his arm before he could bring the warhammer down. "Big no no, kid. Damaged grate shows we went down there." Theodore bent down and tugged hard trying to lif the weight himself to no avail. A little help from Argus had the grate cleared and both dwarves into the dark sewers, with none the wiser.

Deurgar were creatures of darkness, born in the underdark and raised in the infinite void of light so the sewer almost seemed lit to his eyes but Argus would not likely have any such advantage, "Strike up that hammer now. Glow can light our way."

Argus nodded and after a moment the hammer glowed. They walked through the damp caves the smell of waste and garbage was everywhere. At one point they made it to the main sewer where the smell wasnt that bad. Argus the leaned agiainst the wall and started laughing." ha ha ha oh man Evelyn is gonna kill me.

"I've heard o' this Sunderland character. She really all that great? I come from a land ruled by an ancient dark elf. What makes her so worth followin'?" He had not meant the question to be rude but merely to strike up conversation as they continued further and further through the sewer system, eventually depositing them in the open streets far from the tavern and front gate.

Argus simply chuckled as he looked up at him." Simple really, no one else wants to take command. That and her noble birth give us tons of privilliges. Still she can be a total bitch sometimes. Which is understandable considering the fact that she is our leader. That and she isnt ugly so that's a plus.

"Ah, beauty before brains for you then? I must be a grim sight then." Theo laughed from his belly and slapped the young dwarf on the back. The two dwarves made their way through the city alleys as best they could. The guards had spread out looking for the black armored dwarf, others not quite recalling Argus' features.

A White cloak he swiped from a clothesline wrapped around him, Theodore and Argus made their way back to the outskirts of the Tavern without being spotted hoping to find the other templars and clear this mess up.

Karl watches as a grey skinned dwarf and Argus have a bar fight for the ages. The fight lasts for a few minutes, then the guards came, and an idea formed in drunk Karl's mind. "Hey you *hic* guards, I know one of the dwarfs your looking, loooking, licking? Looking for. His name is, is, Argus." Walking up to one of the guards, Karl is drunkenly talking to them, then in a burst of speed he punches the guard out cold. "Oops!" The other guards start to arrest Karl, but drunk Karl is a slippery bastard, and within minutes the guards are knocked out flat. Then drunk Karl, punches Glodin in the face,"Now that guards are out the way. TIME FOR THE BIGGEST BAR BRAWL EVER!" And in a flurry of movement Karl is boxing the other patrons and Glodin. Kylie looks on in awe, as this drunken elf templar fights and knocks out guards and starts to fight an entire bar, placing a hand on his shoulder trying to stop him earns her a bunch in the face. The smile on her face widens, "Well then if you're gonna punch a superior officer then I'm gonna apply justice here and now." throwing a haymaker at Karl, that he unwittingly dodges, she ends up hitting Glodin,"Oi quit moving ye skinny bastard!" Karl turns and faces Kylie and then a fight almost as epic as the one between Theo and Argus ensues, but not just between Karl and Kylie but also most of other patrons of the tavern. The fight between Karl and Kylie spills out into the street with a half unconscious Karl, one arm pinned behind his back, lays face down with Kylie pinning him to the ground,"Now if I remember correctly your from Captain Sunderland's troop, she and I are gonna have a talk."

Glodin managed to avoid most of the fighting, but not when the two behind him started swinging. Karl landed an elbow into Glodin's shoulder, and Kylie nailed him in the back of the head. Glodin drew his hammer amd turned quickly ready to dish out some punishment, but when he realized who hit him he quickly reholstered his hammer and followed the two as they fought their way across the bar. Ducking, weaving, and dodging are what keep you standing in a bar fight, and Glodin was experienced to the scene from his younger days. He wasn't the most graceful, but by the gods did he manage to almost follow them out into the street without so much as a scratch. He stood behind Kylie as she spoke and kindly waited for her to finish her statement before knocking her in the back of the head just hard enough to get the point across. "Now we're even lass, and the captain and you will be talking pretty soon. Not to mention she will probably have my head for not stopping this before it escalated this bad."

Glodin looked around at the carnage and sighed. There goes any chance of promotion... Glodin went to speak but saw Argus and the deurgar making their way back and was instantly filled with rage at the sight of the spark that started the flame. Glodin grabbed his hammer and hurled the enchanted warhammer at Argus and felt satisfaction as the hammer slammed into Argus' chest. The hammer landed behind the deurgar and began to glow a faint blue as it lifted off the ground and began flying back to Glodin, with the deurgar dirently in its path.

Theodore barked a laugh at Argus' expense when the hammer struck the poor fool in the chest. Evidently the lads comrades weren't as up to his tom foolery as Theo was. Likely his outburst had caused this group a fair bit of trouble, but that wasn't really Theodores issue. The hammer took off on a repeat journey to its master with a direct course through the Deurgars body. Theos hand shot out and grasped the handle firmly, resisting the call to return to its master with brute strength as he inspected the weapon. Theodore had spent his formative years crafting weapons and armor that would tickle the surface dwellers green with envy but the hammer was exquisite to be sure.

Theo stepped back and released the hammer back to its master and observed the older dwarf, though still a youngling compared to himself!, and approved the stern look in his eyes. Hardy folk these two even if the younger was a bit of a hot head. Not that his own behavior had been all the better. "Strong weapon you have. Tell me, stranger, did you do the runic work yourself? Or is that an heirloom from a time when the surface dwarves were more capable?" Not intending that to be an insult, he realized as he spoke that it may be taken as such. Theodore still frequently made weapons and arms for the Isle guardians and had forged his own suit of the finest mithril and obsidian he had painstakingly managed to meld together. Well enchanted, durable, and coated in spiraling runes, it was a suit of function and form. A masters work.

Glodin caught his hammer and sheathed itbefore walking over to the deep dwarf. "My father made this hammer, and it has helped me out of a bind plenty of times. Even broke a demon's jaw with it just the other week." Glodin smiled as he walked closer to the other dwarves. "Seems you know your way around a forge cousin, did you come all this way to start trouble? Or is there more behind why you would risk returning here?" He stroked his beard as he spoke and observed the deep dwarf carefully, not just his appearance but his body language.

Rising behind a knocked over table, Tabetha seethed with anger. Not only did some dwarf interrupt her conversation, that very dwarf caused a commotion of epic proportions. Not only would the Order be implicated in this, she would too. Though she had nothing to do with the fight, she was member of the Order and one who failed to stop the the situation from escalating. She would have her share of responsiblities.

Before she could say or do anything else, it wasn't long before guards came in to arrest the perpetrators. As she readied herself to explain what happened, a drunk elf with the Order's symbol came in. "Who's that?" she said to herself.

"Hey you *hic* guards, I know one of the dwarfs your looking, loooking, licking? Looking for. His name is, is, Argus. Oops!" A guard was knocked down. Then another and then some more. Walking over to the other dwarf the elf suddenly punches Glodin in the face. "Now that guards are out the way. TIME FOR THE BIGGEST BAR BRAWL EVER!"

"I don't believe this!" Tabetha said astounded. "Are these really men of the Order? They act more like ruffians!" As she looked on, fighting erupted everywhere with the main focus between the elf, Glodin and the female dwarf. The fighting quickly went outside and cursing vehemently, Tabetha slipped outside and followed the three just in time to see Glodin grab a hold of his hammer.

"You there!" She yelled pointing at the dark skinned dwarf "What is your problem? Have you lived under a rock for too long? If you got a problem the first thing you should not do is punch someone in the nose! Look at this mess you created! I don't know what it is with you dwarfs and your inclination towards violence in the bar but if you insist on murdering each other at first sight, find a place elsewhere preferably AWAY from other people and then have your stupid fight."

She looked at the other Templars with disapproving looks. "You call youself templars? Scoundrels more like it. And what were you thinking hitting the city guards? Think of the reputation of the Order. Sunderland was it? I'll be sure to report this incident to her."

She walked towards the dark skinned dwarf, stopping some twenty paces from the dwarf with her right hand ready to draw her short sword. "I can see you are no ordinary dwarf but you've caused too great a commotion to be let off. Will you come quietly?"

Theodore turned his head slowly to size up this newcomer edging towards her sword. The pleasant look on Theodores face turned sour as he stared at the offending hand with a look that could be considered both a threat and a challenge. If there was one thing the ferryman hated it was being threatened by an underling that did not know its place. He waved at Glodin to wait a moment for his response before he walked right up to Tabetha and puffed out his chest, hands on hips in easy reach of his two headed ax.

"Ye' got a problem with how Dwarves do business, miss? I can assure ye' that the bout of unpleasantness just now is a far cry from what I am capable of and far from the worst thing I'm willing to do. So do me a favor, lass, and go cry ta' yer superior officer. I ain't the type ta just go quietly when I've done nothin' wrong."

He glanced back at the wreckage of the bar and coughed a bit uncomfortably.

"Ok so that, I agree, was a wee bit wrong, but the stone brain over there," pointing a stubby plated finger Argus' way, "He's the one what drugged me niece. You expect me ta lay down and let an insult like that pass? I owe the girls father that much at least."

Again he puffed out his chest and turned his back on Tabetha, an inviting smile on his face as he felt the poisonous flow of his being itch for release. A single wave of his toxic miasma would likely kill or incapacitate the lot of 'em but there was no honor in murder like that when honor only demanded Theo rough up the offender a bit. Dwarven culture was interestingly more tolerant and yet more strict on many subjects. Thieves lost their hands and had them put on display, while humans locked up petty thiefs and gave them 'due process'. A joke to him really.
Dwarves also answered slights with fists and either earned an apology or a feud. Argus and himself had earned an apology, one for the niece treatment and the other for having his nose broken.

Theodore walked past Glodin, all but shoving Tabetha to the side without a care for her dignity or rank.

"Glodin was it? Marcus mentioned a dwarf craftsman. I risk what exactly by returning? We're all in the thick of it together anyways!" He slapped his knee in a raucous laugh. "Hammer like that oughta do more than just break a demons jaw, beardling, shoulda taken the durn jaw off!"

Theodore offered his gauntlet clad hand to Glodin for inspection. The metal was flawless, even after a rough scuffle, dirt didn't even bother trying to cling to the polished black steel. A closer inspection would reveal the meticulously etched runes along the rim of the gauntlet, powerful protection from the elements aligned to create a breathtaking display of skill in their placement. Not a single marred line or the slightest difference from one rune to the next, all perfectly etched.

"You surface folk don't get ta see the pure veins o' mithril I seen in my homeland. Strong as a fortress and just as expensive." His armored fist struck the chest plate with a muffled clang. "Reckon' I might be able ta' show you some tricks yet lad. Been forgin' steel inta weapons o' death afore your clan likely learned what a sword even was!" He gave another raucous laugh and patted Glodin on the shoulder as a sign of acceptance.

Tabetha glared at the pompous dwarf as he shoved her aside. Right then and there she wanted to bring her sword down his stubby neck but she stayed her hand. A chill went down her spine. This was no ordinary dwarf and something about his demeanor was extremely dangerous. She released her grip on the sword.

"Though I do not know what is the circumstances of your grievances with Argus except that he apparently drugged your niece and dishonored you, the fact remains that you've assaulted a member of the Order among other crimes. It's not within my means to mete out punishment, especially for one as dangerous as you. As you said, I'll report this incident to my superior."

She looked at Glodin and Argus with a puzzled look. "Are you friends now? If you are, you'd best be prepared to explain why. Now if you will excuse me..."

Tabetha turned around and sprinted towards the castle. "Taegan is not going to be happy when he hears of this. Knowing him, I'd probably be admonished too for failing to stop the fight from happening. I wonder if he's meeting with this knight captain now?" Upon entering the castle, Tabetha began her search for Taegan.@The Emperors Blade

@Zelosse Kylie had been watching the deep dwarf, well it was more like inspecting the armor worn by the deep dwarf, since she had seen him outside. Dragging Karl, who has fallen asleep and doesn't seem to be waking up, over to Argus propping him up on a nearby wall. Then sauntering over to Theo she begins to meticulously inspect his armor, she was an armor smith but she never let anyone see her work, or see what she had created she liked keep what she did private. Taking out a small notebook she began to trace some of the runes on Theo's armor she was amazed by the near perfection of it all. "So if you can make armor this good what about weapons? I dabble a bit in forging but I was never any good at weapon smithing, but armor smithing now thats my passion. There is also a place around here that can get dwarven quality ores, and the owner of the establishment, well lets just say she and I go way back."

Earlier that day...

The King's Court was crowded with petitioners and ambassadors, nobles and knights, each present to hear the wisdom of their Lord on matters of the realm. Some hoped to hear his response to word of attacks in the north. Rumor had spread throughout the castle of a battle at Starguard and within a day it has seemed to have infected the city. But the topic on everyone's mind was whether or not the king would announce an heir soon. Of course the title would go to the eldest but succession would only be made clear with the declaration of such. Without such an announcement, were his Majesty to pass suddenly any of his children could lay claim to the throne of Farendar.

One such noble was Lord Cambden of Demit, a small region in the hinterlands. Lord Cambden was rather insignificant in terms of influence. He played The Game rather passively, tending to his lands mostly and only involving himself of matters that would directly affect his territory. "My King, I speak for many of us when I inquire as to whom you may choose as heir to your throne? Tis only fair we your subjects may know who we shall swear fealty to in the far future", Cambden bowed deeply, hoping he'd not offended his Lord though Gregor was not known to be easily offended. Another example as to Cambden's outcast solitary lifestyle.

"The passing of my son, Aundair, has left me at a wonder of the remains of my time on this world. Since their births I've watched my children grow to be the noble lords and ladies that they are. Such a decision is not made easily and I do so with the utmost care and forethought. I know that whomever I so choose, the others will not question as they are kin and honorable in not only birth but in stature. And so I've decided to announce my successor on Ancestors Night, that we may celebrate to honor our past and our future!", the court cheered in response to Gregor's speech but among them Evelyn stood as stoic as ever, watching the crowds for anything suspicious. Her eyes darting from nobleman to nobleman she scanned for anyone she might suspect to be involved in this conspiracy. As she examined the Lords and Ladies of the court, Evelyn couldn't help but think of her own family. To her disappointment they were not present but then again why should they? The nobles here were those eager to kiss the boot of the king, hoping to gain land and greater prestige. House Sunderland had no interest in this, their house oversaw the care of South Farendar, which was enough power.

As the crowds began to calm and quiet, Evelyn stepped forward, ready to bring her concerns to his Majesty. "My Lord, I apologize for bringing such news to you but I've something urgent to inform you of", the crowd went silent as they'd learnt at this point in the day of Evelyn and her Templars. They all were anxious to hear what news from the north she may have brought to the capital. As for King Gregor, his eyes grew serious as he knew Evelyn not to be a woman who spoke of trivial things. "By all means, Lady Sunderland, your words are most welcome in my court", King Gregor's words made what Evelyn had to say even harder to voice. "Forgive me, Your Grace, but I believe what I have to say is meant for your ears alone. If we may-"

"Say no more, I understand", Gregor gestured to those in attendance to exit and with some low grumbling they obeyed, shuffling out of the court with envious eyes aimed at the Knight-Captain. "Now, Evelyn, what is it you wish to tell me?", Gregor's children were the only others in the room besides the king and Evelyn. Vanessa looked on with worry in her eyes as she feared her suspicions may be true. Aedan merely looked on in curiosity, "She must have quite some influence to have our father empty the court for her...she may prove useful in the future". As for Rodrick and Davon, they were more than irritated at the nerve of this woman to dare demand a private audience. Who was she other than a mere Knight-Captain? Highborn or no, she was in no place to demand from the king, their father.

"Thank you, my lord. It has been brought to my attention that you've fallen ill as of late, yes?, Gregor was puzzled by such a question. Was this what she requested privacy for?

"I must admit that I've grown out of sorts recently but what does that-"

"Forgive my interruption, my lord, but do you remember coming into contact with anything or anyone that may have given you such an affliction?"

"Despite being King I'm barely allowed to leave the inner castle. All the food is cooked in the royal kitchens, my clothes and linen are washed within these walls with our own water source, and all who serve here are given quarter here?...why do you ask?"

"My Lord before attending this court I had your personal doctor bring me a list detailing your symptoms. With such I paid a visit to the royal alchemist, with this list we deduced that these were the symptoms of something more than disease. This was created with the intent to render you into such a state. A poison.", upon hearing this Vanessa began to sob. Her worst fears were made reality, now she could only hope that the culprit was not amongst them.

"Evelyn...do you mean to tell me-"

"With deep regret, yes, my lord. Someone works to end your life"

"...Do you have some suspicion as to whom it may be?"

"Not at the moment, my lord. My assumption is that whomever is conspiring against you aims to place another on the throne. Seeing as your children are still in good health their goal does not seem to end the bloodline. Whomever is behind this hopes to place one of your children on the throne, possibly to manipulate them or their hope is that their rule will leave the realm weak to the invasion"

"This is the work of the Dead God then?"

"It is a possibility-, at this point Prince Rodrick was furious. To hear that some whoresons planned to murder his father threw him into a rage. Rodrick bolted up from his seat and eyed Evelyn harshly. "What do you mean 'it is a possibility'? Is it not clear enough who our enemy is?! What else would dare to do such a thing? The Elves?! Or is it those dirt eating dwarves in Uldgori-"

"The Merfolk have nothing to do with this!", Evelyn snapped back at Rodrick and he quickly sat back once he saw the anger in her eyes. The only reply came from Prince Davon who smugly answered, "Then who?"

"...Before we ventured to Loringrad, two of my party were murdered. I believe it to be a former member of The Order. He's gone missing as of late and from what I've gathered he's gone to his true leader...former Templar Commander Ghislain. The leader of The Rebellion during my order's civil war"

Prince Davon grew a sinister smile as he stood forth, "So you mean to say, even the Templars are our enemy?"

"Davon you know damn well that's not what I mean. The traitor infiltrated our ranks years ago, he left the order the moment he sided with Ghislain!"

"Then how can you hope to restore your order? Gods know how many more of his kin work to sabotage it from within and with the coming threat in the north...The Templars seem to be reaching their final days"

Evelyn glared at Davon who glared right back at her from across the room. The resulting silence of their stare down prompted King Gregor to speak before a fight broke out. "Evelyn, if what you say is true. I bid you to further investigate this. You have free reign about the castle and the city guard will be alerted of your task", Gregor's eyes were sullen and tired as he looked to the Knight-Captain. "For now I believe it is time I returned to my duties. I've many more voices to hear, more issues to be addressed", King Gregor gestured for the guards to open the hall doors and as the nobles began to flood back in Evelyn bowed before leaving. "Fucking Davon.."

The Meeting

The hour had finally come, night fell over the land and with it came the promise of knowledge. Evelyn gathered Marcus before heading down into the catacombs of Loringrad Castle. The entrance was a large pair of doors, ornate and bearing the family crest of King Gregor and his children. Evelyn paused for a moment to check if they'd been followed before entering the tomb. Pushing against the old and heavy doors, Evelyn dreaded the loud creaking as the way was opened for them. A long set of steps descended into the dark, illuminated in segments by torches left lit by another. Down the three Templars went, into the home of the royal dead before reaching the end. The main chamber was large and provided a number of good hiding places.

"Be on your guard", the Knight-Captain ordered Marco but a voice from within the darkness countered. "You've nothing to fear, I come as an ally", whoever it was that spoke owned a voice which was coarse and carried an air of suspicion about it.

Evelyn immediately reacted by preparing a lightning bolt in her hand. She scanned the room looking for where their informant was hiding. It did not take long before he revealed himself...and several others. Out of the darkness came several individuals wearing black cloaks, each with their faces hidden but it was clear they were all armed. It was clear now that coming here was a mistake, the two of them had fallen into a trap.

Just as their attackers began to approach, their apparent leader dropped to the floor. The others stepped back in surprise as they realized he was dead. Before anything could be done another had fallen, then another, and another, until ever last one lay dead on the floor with their blood pooling on the floor of the royal tomb. Evelyn watched carefully, her eyes going wild as she tried desperately to located the cause of this. It wasn't until a familiar voice echoed through the chamber did she realize who it was."It seems we meet again, Captain. Much like our prior encounter if I recall. Hopefully this time on better terms", the assassin Red revealed herself as her invisibility spell dissipated. Evelyn sheathed her sword but kept her hand on the hilt. Giving Marcus the signal to be at ease she spoke, "I was told we'd meet again, though I did not expect this soon"

Red did not give that familiar smile she once bore so often. Now she was dead serious as her face was just as stern as Evelyn's. "Marcus' work I bet. I hope he did not speak too much. That'd be unfortunate for the both of us", Red said calmly as she walked over to one of the Dead bodies. Grabbing it by the head she revealed the body to have had its throat slit, rather slashed open, by a very precise blade. Evelyn remained where she stood, getting a good look at the assassin's handiwork. "Why would that be unfortunate?", she asked "We only stand to gain through mutual sharing of knowledge".

"Not true, captain. While you know nothing of us we know practically everything about you and your men. My leader, he values secrecy, believing that by working through the shadows we are more efficient. Should word of what we really are get loose, you, your men, and anyone involved with the leaking of such information will be killed. Including myself and Marcus", Red flipped the body over on its back before searching the contents of its clothing. "That being said, I shall tell you of what we are in the hopes you have enough sense to grasp the severity of such information", Red pulled a strange object from the pocket of the cultist before putting it in a pouch of her own. Satisfied with her search she stood up and faced the three knights, "My name is Tyr, and I am a member of The Watchers of Serenity. We are an order that was created from your own. Our goals are the same but our methods are different. While you lot fight the monsters who stalk the wilderness, we hunt the monsters who prowl the royal courts. Our influence stretches from the nalrokar islands to the western forests and we ensure the sphered of influence are kept under "

"Why have I never heard of you? Surely someone must have discovered your existence"

"A good number have over the years. They're all dead because of it. However none of this is important, what is important is what you plan to do in the following days. I've been watching you during your investigation, good work in discovering the poison by the way. However you may have set yourself back by bringing it to the king"

"His children can't possibly be responsible, that's insane, he's their father!"

"And you believe that to be enough? This is the throne of Farendar, whomever sits upon that throne controls half of the world. His children are just as, if not more likely to be the culprits for their succession won't be questioned.

Evelyn became sullen at the thought of one of her childhood friends plotting to murder the king. "What do your propose then?", she asked, letting her hand off of her sword.

"To put it bluntly we find out who and deal with them. More specifically we shadow their activity, discover what backing they have if any, and work the chain until we have considerable evidence to bring to the king", Tyr walked back to where one of the bodies lay still leaking blood. Unsheathing her sword she cleaved the head clean off of the body before bagging it and tossing it towards Evelyn. "Bring it to his Majesty, tell him what happened here but leave me out of it. I don't need to retell the consequences should you do so", Tyr ripped a part of the cloak off from the dead cultist to clean her blade of the blood before sheathing it. "In the meantime I must get to work, hopefully I will find something to hurry this investigation before our enemy's plan comes to fruition". Tyr began casting her invisibility spell, in truth it did not take much effort as a single hand sign activated the magic.

"Wait! You haven't told me how to contact you", at this point Tyr was gone but her voice could still be heard. "I'll find you when the time is right", with that the Watcher was gone. Evelyn turned Marco with a look of worry and bewilderment. "The King has gone to sleep already, what in the hell are we to do with this?", she said with annoyance as she held up the bagged head.

Finding Taegan wouldn't be too difficult for Tabetha, in fact she would find him standing in the hall berating two of his knights cat calling the servant women. “We are a knightly Order. We are the dawn Covenant, and here you two are acting like common lechers floundering in a brothel. I have to say that these washing wrenches have more honor than you. Perhaps I should take you armor, and cloaks and put it on them instead?!”

As he turned to Tabetha he frowned a bit, Taegan was fully decked out, wearing his green armor, cloak, now, sword, and even carrying his polearm. Seeing that she had been running his brows furrowed deeply. He moved towards her one hand on his hip, and stopped before her planting the butt of his polearm against the stone floor.

Taegan immediately assaulted Tabetha with an onslaught of questions. His tone and demeanor expecting complete obedience, clarity, and all haste in her answers, not letting her speak till he was done. “Corporal, why are you in such a hurry? Where is your partner? Have you not gotten myself and the Captains orders? Who else has not received my orders?” He stopped sharply as he stared down at her with cold eyes awaiting her answers with a fierce calm even as he ignored the man floating behind her burning with angry yellow flames that only he could see.

It was dark. It was late. It was long after dinner, and even the bars had settled down in their ruckus. It was in this time, obscured by darkness, that a cloaked figure on horseback rode in slowly from the city's main gate. Hood drawn up, it could have been a priest, a poor man, a noble, a traveler who had met with delays, or some weary soldier. The clops of hooves hardly went noticed as their rhythm lulled along in the background.

As the figure approached the castle, the two guards at the entrance to the main courtyard grew suspicious, as was their duty, and sought to bar the stranger's entry.

"I'm sorry my lord, but the castle is closed for the evening."

"Identify yourself good sir."

The horse came to a halt, and only then as their eyes could focus on it up close, did the guardsmen see that the horse's eyes were pale white. Wounds covered the mare's body, long emptied of blood. It's jaw hung open bearing white teeth and bone against a useless bit and bridle. It was already dead.

A fear hit the two men, locking their legs and silencing their voices in their throats. In magical terror, they could only stand and witness as the mounted figure then proceeded to walk past them into the courtyard, heading down the middle road until the castle entrance itself.

Kicking his boots out of the stirrups, Damien dismounted in a swift, smooth motion and began walking wearily up the steps. The area was uncannily vacant, but he was heading toward Teagan and Tabetha. He carried a sword at his waist and had on a plainly styled breastplate, but was otherwise clad only in dark grey cloth. The Templar order symbols decorated the clasps for his cloak on either shoulder. Long, black hair was hanging out from either side of his hood, but his face was in shadow.

The horse, its use finally ended, collapsed with a sigh into a pile of flesh and bones on the ground behind him. Damien Mithias Varomere had returned to the kingdom of man once more.

“Corporal, why are you in such a hurry? Where is your partner? Have you not gotten myself and the Captains orders? Who else has not received my orders?”

There it was, the ice cold words that stung. Tabetha saluted and in a sharp voice began her report. "Apologies! I was doing rounds outside the castle when I came across other members of the Order. They were not from this area and I believe they were travelers! You've mentioned a captain, I think it is that person who leads them!"

"And? What are you getting at?" Taegan replied.

"As I entered a tavern, two of the templars I saw that I did not recognize were dwarfs their names were Argus and Glodin. They were under command of Evelyn Sunderland, a knight captain. Before I could ask anything else, a third dwarf wearing all black armor attacked the one named Argus. It was an unprovoked attack, completely out of nowhere and a huge brawl broke out. There was another incident with the city guards too. A drunk elf with the Order's mark attacked the guards that tried to stop the commotion and that elf had a scuffle with a female dwarf who incidentally also carries our banner."

Tabetha paused briefly to gather her breath before continuing not quite believing what she was saying either. Taegan's face looked forlorn as always. Would he even believe how absurd this situation sounded?

"The fight between Argus and the other dwarf spilled outside and I only arrived in time to see them stop their fight. There I learned that Argus drugged the mysterious dwarf's niece and the unprovoked attack was for that reason. Whatever happened outside, I do not know but the mysterious dwarf was satisfied with the outcome and stopped fighting. I've tried to arrest him but he merely pushed me aside and threatened that he was capable of much greater harm. My instincts told me he was someone I could not handle alone. His armor was filled with strange runes and they were of exceptional quality."

"When I left, that mysterious dwarf was inspecting the hammer of one the dwarfs and striking a conversation with both Glodin and Argus. Come to think of it, he mentioned someone by the name of Marcus. They may know each other by proxy. As for the drunk elf and the female dwarf, I did not see them when I left. I don't think the city guards that were knocked out nor the tavern owner are too happy. There's also a lot of witnesses too so this isn't something that will stay quiet."

"There is a matter of containing the fallout that will ensue and also this dwarf that attacked the Order. That concludes my report."

Tabetha's hand fell to her sides as she awaited for Taegan's reaction. Think I'm gonna get chewed out she thought to herself.

Theodore Doubleblade

Theodore scoffed at the notion of surface ore. It had been so long since he had worked with the inferior product most human settlements could produce he had nearly forgotten how brittle the useless scarp could be if not treated proper. "Tell ye' what, Lass. I see you givin' the shine on me chestguard. You want a taste you had better come up with a convincing trade." He barked a laugh and strode towards the downed and sleeping elf, looking around for the one who had ran off before giving a shrug. "We're leavin'. I don't care how many guards come looking but I won't be hassled on some nowhere street in the middle of the royals backyard." An Idea struck him as a mischievous grin took his face from ear to ear.
Theo bent down and grabbed the downed elf, lifting him over his shoulders like a light sack of potatoes.

"How many of you feel like finding the backdoor to the castle?" His grin had not dissipated in the slightest.

Karl slung over his shoulder the grey beard took off in a sprint before the others could answer, despite his armor and the added weight of his new shoulder armor the older dwarf seemed to have no problem pacing ahead steadily, his armor barely made a noise as he sped along the streets and alleyways towards his goal. Karls head bobbed up and down every step of the way breaking any kind of tension Theo felt about his rather odd activities. First the fist fight, then the flirt, and now a break in of the most heavily guarded fortress on the continent. Memories of his wild younger days on the Isle with the Ocular fluttered through his mind at the rush of adrenaline over the sheer prospect. In 400 years of life Theodore had seen the rise of a secret nation and had a firm hand in the taming of such a wild world but the building of its monuments, becoming an integral part of the society while remaining respectfully distant. He had overcome the Turning and earned his poisonous gifts, he had conquered trolls and ogres, mountain giants, colossal insects, and even an ancient pale worm that had nearly taken his life!

The castle would be no challenge if he willed himself to infiltrate it. But the younglings would not understand that need for adventure he craved in his older years, lost in their own worlds. They swept up the dark alleyways until the fortress was in sight. Guards patrolled the area heavily, and other such traps were likely waiting. "Any ideas?"

Karl's "unconscious" mind was a flutter with something, he couldn't quite place it but it was there and it was growing. Then a voice floats through his mind, soft and beautiful, like a soft Spring wind after a rainy day."Hello little one, I am not the only one here but I am not here to tell you what to do. A light to guide you against the gathering dark." The voice fades, leaving the smell of rose's in Karl's mind, then a wave of heat like a great fire bursts forth across his mind."And I am an agent of that gathering dark. The two of us, light and dark, will be joining you on your adventure. I will be trying to convince you to join The Dead God. While the "other" one will be trying to keep you on your current path." The last sentence was said with scorn. Then a darkness filled his mind, then a light as Karl wakens from his "slumber". "What? Where? When? Who?" Karl's eye opens to see the backside of a dwarf and the street. "Hello sir could you put me down."

Kylie watched Theo pick up the drunk elf and carry him with little effort. Following him with the others Kylie was shocked when he suggested breaking into the palace, but she quickly warmed up to the idea, "Ohh this gonna be fun! But what are we gonna do?"
