Upon leaving their home territories in Scandinavia, a fleet of Vikings set out to find new land to conquer. After being at sea for days the fleet is torn apart by a massive storm. As the storm grows stronger and more wild, a ship is pulled away from the rest of the fleet. They find themselves being sent in the opposite direction in which they had been traveling with the others. After many hours, and countless miles, the storm begins to die down. The ship of tired conquerors try to find their bearings in this unknown place. In the distance a island can be seen. However, this mysterious island cannot be found on any of their maps. The captain orders them to sail to the island to investigate. As they are reaching this mysterious island the water begins to churn as if something is trying to break through the dark waters. Those aboard the ship curiously stared down the sides of the ship trying to see what was causing the water to move so harshly. They could see something slowly rising to break through the water, closer and closer it came, the more curious they became as to what this creature was. The crew of the ship stood in wonder as the creature finally broke through the dark water, it’s massive body towering over their ship. The crew quickly tried to scatter about as they reached for their weapons and shields to protect themselves from this great beast. There was little they could do to fight as the creature attacked their ship. Their arrows were deflected by the creature's armor like outer exterior, axes and swords doing only minimal damage.
Several of their warriors perished in the fight with the beast. The captain looked to his fallen brothers and sisters then to those who still remain, not wanting to lose more of them, he gave the order to abandon their already sinking ship. They quickly made their way towards dry land before this creature could finish what he had started. They reached the shore with only the clothes on their backs, the weapons in their hands, and what little was left from their wreckage. Very little was left after the battle. They had no boat, very little warriors and no way of knowing where they were or how they were going to get off the island. They would be forced to look for shelter and supplies to keep them alive if the islands inhabitants didn’t get to them first.
