Reiji Saikumo
Magenta eyes watched the finale of the skirmish between the jounin and his students. The morning sun reflecting in the vibrant orbs reflected the fire igniting in them. Hidden in the trees surrounding the clearing Reiji smiled underneath his hood. It really isn't fair...a last minute team assignment change and I end up getting here late. As much as I want to go toe-to-toe with a jounin it'd be rude to interrupt them. On the upside... He smirked as the ones he deduced to be his squadmates sprung into action; one, a puppeteer and the other wielding a sword and incredible speed. The kunoichi used the kunai scattered across the field to moved swiftly towards who Reiji understood to be his sensei, Mao of the Mirror.
"Sorry for the inconvenience. You're hereby assigned to Squad 15. Mao of the Mirror will be your leader and teacher. He may not seem like much at first but he's fully capable...though a few hours of sleep could do him some good~
Using the makeshift footholds to avoid the traps littering the area--a detail Reiji wished he'd known on the way over so he wasn't left picking leaves out of his hair--the girl followed behind the her teammates puppet as they launched a coordinated assault. Obviously a jounin wasn't going to overtaken by a couple of fresh genin so easily. Reiji studied Mao-sensei's unusual equipment but couldn't determine what it's use was. As soon as the puppet was in range there was a blast and a cloud of smoke along with a strange sound. Mao-sensei emerged from the smokescreen unharmed while the puppet's attack only made contact with the ground. More notably it's movements were sluggish now. What had the jounin done? Whatever he did it was clear that close quarters wasn't his preferred combat scenario.
The other two had picked up on the the strange tools purpose as a close quarters deterrent and put their own plan into action. Reiji watched the next moments unfold becoming even more envious that he wasn't able to join in the action. Minutes later it was over. Reiji couldn't help but laugh at the conclusion, both teammates holding half of the bell now. "Heh, smartasses~" Mao-sensei congratulated them and arranged a celebration spot and left with a look that suggested it was time for one of several naps of his day. Reiji watched them clean up and waited for them to leave.
Once he was sure they were gone Reiji moved out of the trees and stood in the middle of the recent battle ground. "That's my squad, huh? And he's my sensei. Considering he never touched that bow that was sitting there he hasn't shown what he's really capable of." His eyes flashed with excitement at the thought. What could the jounin really do? And how would he measure up? "I've got some time before lunch..." As Reiji looked over the clearing he imagined everyone in the positions they were in when he got there. "I can at least do a little prep. Using what he knew Reiji simulated his own attempt at the test.
Entering the sushi restaurant, Reiji looked around and located Squad 15. He'd noticed Mao-sensei walk in a few moments before he did. Not the most punctual person is he? Then again... "I'm not one to talk either. I think I might just have taken the award for tardiness from you Mao-sensei~" The platinum haired genin said as he walked up to the table rubbing the back of his head. In truth he'd gotten carried away with his image training and lost track of time. "I'm Reiji Saikumo, fourth member of Squad 15. That is if you'll have this poor time manager~" A confident smirk formed on his face.
