Ah. Completely comprable to human psychology, although the instinctive fears of a Matoran might differ greatly from those of a human. (Maybe Matoran instinctively fear darkness or something. Instinctive human fears are loud sounds and falling sensation). Physically, the ratios of limbs to height for Toa is basically the same, but they're more like cyborgs, and heavily mechanized ones at that. I'd imagine a lot of their bones would be metal, and their joints mechanical, but with muscles attached, and maybe some kinds of organs, but mostly robotic and armored exteriors. I'd imagine it might vary from Toa to Toa though.

I see. Interesting character development idea. Although, really, and Matoran with a temper could have that same issue as a Toa.

Yeah, it's just a natural thing with Ta-Toa and it's normally overwhelming. Jaller could contain it through discipline but normally it's bad.

Well, I think it's one of the minor issues of type-casting all the Toa, like how water Toa and Matoran were always female.
So, accepting the humanity of the Toa, like is it enough, or not how you expect?

I normally play almost entirely human, but it's fine XD the GMs on the other one never set a strict definition so eh. :P

And the way I always took it... It's a byproduct of the flame energy. Like... Ta-Matoran are very resistant to heat, that's part of their "biology". The anger is caused by the Toa energy much like our emotions can be influenced by hormones or chemical imbalances. That's not to say that those imbalances are part of who we are, but it's a part of our mind being bound in the body it is.

Don't make me get into a philosophical soul argument, I beg XD

Biological you mean? Cause the psychological stuff seems the most logical, and easy to play if they can be imperfect, 'human' characters.

Interesting. Could be. Although makes them kind of flat as a classification, ya know?

Haha, not now anyway.

Biological, yep.

And yeah, see, you'd think that from a storytelling perspective.

Keep in mind (Bioniclestory.com spoiler alert) that the Great Beings originally intended them to be robots. Self awareness was a glitch in the system.

Any flatness in characterization can thus be handwaved, like the master of his technique that old Farshtey is.

EDIT: Don't click the link. It goes to bionicle 2015 now.

Noted. However, since Bionicle means Biological Chronicle, and there's a distinction between the Rahi/Matoran/Toa and the Bohrok, with the latter being fully mechanical, and the others being at least partially biological. (I didn't know about the self-awareness glitch but I knew enough that it's not that much of a spoiler.)

That would be because it wasn't a glitch.

Well, it was originally the canon explantion but it got changed around because of

Oh, interesting. Such intrigue. We won't be getting into the depths of the will of the Great Beings here. And I purposefully left it ambiguous as to where this RP will take place. That way I don't have to track any beings/objects/events to know where it must happen. It is, however, after the Great Calamity, but most likely before the end of Bionicle as we know it. Basically, it fits where-ever it fits, so it can work.
Also, I do think that I might want a second "campaign" so we can have a bit of Year Two Toa action, if you know what I mean.

I have really interesting character ideas but either I can't think of a proper weapon, or a way for the mask to be useful, or it's a bit too Year Two.

@Kaithas Sorry, I didn't know that was a touchy subject.

@tobiax If you can't think of a useful mask, try going with a power that relates back to the character in some way. Maybe it references some aspect of their personality, or works well in combination with their element or skills. Don't worry so much about utility. Eventually, a situation is bound to come up when any particular mask will be useful, even if it is one with a narrower range of applications.

For one character, I have a mask, but no weapon. For the other, I sorta thought of them as a Toa before a Matoran, so everything happened backwards, so the like, most root of the personality I'm not sure about, and I don't know how to handle the mask, since I know what effect I want but I don't think any masks really do that. It's more a matter of the personality though for that idea.

If you can't pick just one mask, remember that suva exist.

For the weapon, there's nothing wrong with a simple sword if you can't think of anything that is specific to the character.

On a related note, what is the technology like on this Kongero Nui? On a scale of Mata Nui to Metru Nui?

I don't feel like a sword fits the character, to be honest.

Hmm. Probably a little more than Metru Nui. Like public transportation mechanicals and automated doors and lifts will be rather common in the core of the city, and there's even an area with multiple generators.
And I misread "On a scale of Mata Nui to Metru Nui" as "On scale with Mata Nui to Metru Nui" which made less sense.
It's Metru Nui +. As comparable to an actual modern city as you can get with Bionicle, without any of the down steps that you'd have to take, and not likely that much telecommunication. Maybe radios though. In some places.
Edit: True, Suva do exist. Mask swapping is possible. But I can't really think of any that fit the one specific character, or any that could grant the effect I want. I should really think more about the personality though.

Well, for the one character, I was thinking a Plantlife Toa with a way to access a bit of alternate powers, such as either venom, or maybe a swarm or small insects. But, because I didn't think of, like, what his life was as a Matoran yet, I'm not sure what kind of mask would really fit.
The other character idea is a Ko-Matoran who actually hates the cold. I was thinking that, due to his past, he'd likely get a Mask of Psychometry, but as for weapon, don't even know. I should probably get the OOC up somehow.

Mask of Rahi control has been noted to not work well on insectoid Rahi. I already looked it over. Also, we have an OOC.
