Good morning, everyone, and welcome to your first day at Babbling Brook Daycare Academy! My name is Miss Emily, and the lady behind me is Miss Madeline Brooks. I know that it’s always a little scary being someplace that you’re not familiar with, but I’m sure that you’re going to make lots of new friends and go on all sorts of adventures! Remember, if you ever need any help, Miss Madeline and I will be right here!
Hello, little children… I’m The Black Star. That's a 'The' with a capital T, that's important. Don’t try to look for me, I’m not here…at least, not yet. But I’m coming, and there’s nothing that your sweet Miss Emily or Miss Madeline can do about it. They can’t see me…they can’t hear me… Because they don’t believe in monsters like me. But you do, don’t you? So… Are you brave enough to face me and my minions? You’re the only ones who can.
So, that’s it in a nutshell. You’re all preschoolers, doing what preschoolers normally do: Save the world! Adults don’t see it, but those sticks you’re holding are magical blades of virtue, the mudpies are potions, your ‘fwoosh’es and ‘blam!’s are the real deal. The line between what’s real and what’s imagined is blurred, it all comes down to what you believe!
So here are a few rules:
All of the normal RPG rules apply.
Since this is a game about little children, I’d rather not have a grimdarkness trying to weasel its way in. This includes (but is not limited to) explicit gore, sexual content, and swearing.
Toy Ships are okay. But, like I said, nothing too explicit.
I hope I don’t have to tell people not to godmod. Deus Ex Machina, while a popular trope in children’s pretend, will rarely come into play here. The threat here is real, at least to the children, and it might not be able to kill the children but it can keep them from playing.
Don’t fight in the OOC. I haven’t seen it here all that much, but in the event of a disagreement, I hope we can talk it out and come to an agreement, which brings me to my next point:
Everyone will have a say in what happens in the RP; I am open to all ideas, but my Co-Gm and I have the final say in anything. Please respect that, and we’ll respect you in return.
Have fun! Be young again! Go nuts!
Here’s the character sheet:
Name:
Hero Archetype: (A short list of Archetypes can be found below, along with a brief description. I am always willing to consider new Archetypes as well).
Hero Name (If applicable):
Physical Description: (A picture is fine)
Family: (You must have a family of some type, even if you don’t live with your parents.)
Other: Anything we should know about your character? Do you have a peanut allergy? (for example)
You might notice that I’m not asking for an age, personality, or bio. I’ll tell you why:
Age is irrelevant; we’re all preschoolers, which means a difference of maybe a year or two. Nothing major.
I think the personality section is needless, as well. Your character’s personality will/should change during the course of the RP. Don’t feel like you have to fit a mold.
I feel that the bio is also needless since you’ve only been alive for a few years and have likely not had any major childhood experiences.
The Daycare:
The Daycare Academy, known as Babbling Brook, is a medium-sized daycare facility with a 15-child capacity. At the moment, applications are closed.
There are two rooms, one large playroom that doubles as a napping area, and a smaller dining area that leads to a bathroom.
The yard is about an acre, and it has two large pieces of playground equipment:
The entire area is surrounded by a 4-foot tall chainlink fence.
Let's have some fun!
