@Leidenschaft, not as far as I know. It was just a tactical theory that could work later.

It's a lot of wasted effort and risk, is what I'm saying. You really think that us being locked out to try to repel the assault, they'll take the chances of opening up the gates to slip out some healers?

Furthermore, you really think the guy who just got opened up by a big fuck-off weapon or just had his head or chest stoved in is going to want to jump back into the fight after getting healed? Gotta factor in morale and if and when we break and have to retreat back behind the walls and sit through a siege. Besides, if your wounds are grave enough to need a healer while you're in combat, you've got bigger problems than getting back into the fight. This isn't an RPG where you can chug some healing potions or have your mage buff you or heal you so you can continue to fight. I'd say that's a bit "writing to win" which we wag our fingers at here.

@Leidenschaft, I was assuming that catastrophic injury would lead to a death too swift for healing magic to make a difference. However, those knocked unconscious by a body slam or stunned by flying debris could be given a quick boost and sent to the rear before the battle made a minor concussion fatal if there were healers already deployed.

Moral is more heavily affected by what the fighters actually see. They're not going to spend time looking at those who are out of action when there's a living equivalent of a tank bearing down on them, never mind a dozen per pier. Frankly, they should have shattered our lines and reduced everything to chaos during their first rush. No simple shield wall should be able to stop that kind of difference in physical power, and armor, with less than a 5/1 numerical advantage. This is a thing we do not have.

In short, I am not disagreeing with you. The current battle has no chance of healers being added to the fray. Even if it did, their influence would be minimal compared to the risk entailed. However, if healers are deployed earlier in another battle against similar forces, then their influence could be substantial if they wield their power effectively.

I agree that we technically all should be scrambling for the gates by now, but yea. In future battles, it would do good to have some healers. There's a bit of a lack of them, though, considering we're a mercenary company that mainly hires from the common rabble. Field medicine is the closest and the only person in the company who knows how to make health potions is Utu.

In more well-developed and organized armies, there's probably a dedicated corps of healers, namely in the Legion. Sadly, we ain't them. I'm expecting that we'll be losing a lot of men and we won't be holding for long in the battle. At least 8-10 of our 30-some men are dead or incapacitated, so. I'm also not saying wee going to be sticking around on the docks. We'd do better to hide behind our walls. It's worked for a lot of other people being sieged, provided we send a messenger somewhere.

@Leidenschaft... ... Yup. I have to agree with that strategic assessment. Though... I guess those healing potions might not be quite so effective with so few wounded having a chance to survive. Oh, well. If only it were the thought that counted. Still, archers do a lot better behind fortifications. It's hard to aim when you've been crushed... or cut in half... or impaled...

Oye... I still need to figure out exactly how Utu is going to perform in this mess... and I owe two more posts too... And I'm out of time tonight. G'night.

Do we even have healer PCs?

Do'Karth is a non-magic healer, but it's not like there's quick fixes when you are healing naturally.

Night, bruh. Maybe if we form a prayer circle once we get back behind the walls, it'll do something.

Take a knee and drink some water, rub dirt in it, etc.

I have Heal Minor Wounds, if that counts. I'm not sure how you'd fluff it. Got it for my character's headaches.

Dragging Felix back is an option for support guys.

For the battle, there's only around 20 enemies on the our part, and under 80 across the docks. We started with 20 guards and 30 mercs, and as Schaft said, probably going down to 10 guards and 20 mercs. This means most unnamed mercs are dead or dying. Reinforcements will come in the next post, numbering in hundreds of guards and militias. The enemies are all skirmishers, sent out to prod and will retreat after their momentum is halted. I'd say we have a decent chance of getting through this.

The real pants-crapping is still to come.

Rhasha'Dar has quite a few healing methods under his belt - anyone interested in doing a collab involving him?

I'd volunteer for a collab, but I am like 90% sure the hospital wifi isn't fast enough to make using a pad feasible. I can't even sign on Steam or Skype.

@Dervish

Not to worry my friend; I know our local hospital always had crappy wi-fi. Must be a hospital thing, I guess. XD
If you would like to do a collab, I can do it over PM, if that's more compatible and stuff - I would be interested to see our only Khajiiti members finally meeting. :)

I'm up for PMs! Might take me a little while to get the post done, but I'm down for the hairball convention. ;D

I know right? Is like they don't want you to look up treatments beforehand or something...

It's odd, I can load webpages and post without issue, but do anything that involves streaming data, it slows down to Lenny from Of Mice and Men levels.

As for arrows, I always thought any city worth it's salt should have a shitload of ballistas. Nothing sends quite an elegant "up yours" as getting impaled by a 2 meter long shaft of hardwood and hatred.
