A loud crash sounded from inside Paxton's room, followed by the flutter of wings and a hard thud against the door leading in. Slowly the door creaked open, Madi wearing her glamour again and hanging sideways off the inside door frame. The parrot had it's head sideways, eyeing Akira distastefully as if someone had tried to feed it something foul.

"Yeah sure, I mean; whatever you feel like," Paxton shrugged, close to the ground as he carefully drew a set of irregular corners for a rectangular shape he was working on. Briefly his attention was brought towards the lopsided parrot, and he considered it for a moment before returning to his work. "She seems ready to go if you are- I think she's just in a bad mood is all," Paxton remarked, speaking into the floor as he eyeballed a spot where two lines intersected.

The parrot hissed at Paxton again, the noise echoing forcefully from itself and any nearby shadows. After expressing it's contempt though, the bird brought it's attention to Akira and looked her up and down once more before simply dropping off of the door frame. It didn't flutter it's wings, or try to catch itself, the bird just dropped onto the ground with a soft smack. Madi only gave a moment of pause after hitting the ground, picking herself up and puffing up her feathers to present herself. "Ready," it croaked, lifting one of it's talons and making a grasping motion towards where Akira stood.

"I don't mind where we go, but I could go for a change of clothes before we do." She told him. She arched a brow when Addie decided to invite them to her house, she figured that'd be the last thing she would do. "Well..if you're sure you don't mind." She told her, shrugging. "But I still wanna change." She added before turning to Dmitri, "Ready to go when you are then, sooner we get away from here the better." She told him happily.

I blink in mild surprise as I comprehend Adelaide's words, in part because I hadn't planned on including the bra... Adelaide, in the invitation to dinner, but then I hadn't been particularly exclusive either had I? Then to top off inviting herself to dinner with a mafia hit man, she suggest they have dinner at her place... What was this, some super cheesy fantasy soap-opera? This Adelaide girl was messed up. That much was clear, though... She'd demonstrated a talent of her own hadn't she? Blowing out the lights, had been mildly annoying, but no real hindrance to me. I was used to the cops cutting power in the building if they could to help maximize the effectiveness of their own barrel mounted lights when they stormed the building.

Perhaps Adelaide wasn't as useless as she seemed at first glance.... I wasn't about to bet on it, but there was definitely something off about the girl, and that might be a significant part of it. I'd be sure to have someone look into her later, returning back to the point that had thrown me through a loop.

"Are you inviting us to dinner at your place Adelaide?"

To worn out to care anymore, Dmitri stopped at Anya's apartment, and after telling Adeliade to stay put, walked with Anya to make sure the new door would be satisfactory. It was a thick, dark wooden door, with same locks as had been in Anya's old door, of which there was now no trace to be found. The door seemed simple enough, but where most doors were hollow, this one was made of imported ironwood, no mere knife would shatter this door, in fact most small and medium caliber bullets would fail to penetrate this door. Though it wouldn't hold up to a machine gun, it should serve Anya quite well, though she may have to take care to not let the neighbors see her closing the significantly heavier door with ease. Once sure she was satisfied with the door, Dmitri returned to the car to wait with Adeliade for Anya to get cleaned up and ready for dinner.

When Dmitri came back after stopping by what Addie assumed was Anya's place, she replied to his question looking at him dead in the eye not trying to intimidate him but help him realize just how serious she was. "I'm not scared of you. I'm not scared of her" She gestured towards the door Anya had walked through. "I'm trying to comprehend what happened, and maybe I'm scared of what happened. Maybe I'm scared of the world. I'm not scared of you though."

She paused for a moment. "So it shouldn't surprise you that I invited you for dinner." She finally dropped from his gaze, then turned her attention to her camera. She wound the film up and popped out the reel.

"Plus, I have somethings to take care of, myself" She said holding up the roll of film.

Anya hadn't expected him to get her what was evidently an expensive door, but she didn't question it, and plus a door was just a door and nothing to freak out over. It wasn't like he'd bought her a super expensive necklace or something, though she was still grateful that he'd kept his promise. She'd have to remember what he said about it being heavy too.

Walking over to her closet she got a simple long sleeved T-Shirt and jeans to change into, as well as grabbing her jacket off of the couch before walking to the bathroom and setting to work washing the soot out of her hair. After getting dressed she tossed her previous outfit in the hamper, she'd have to wash it later along with her hair ribbons. As much as she regretted it she currently had her hair down, one would assume she would have spare ribbon but she didn't. Grabbing up her satchel she exited her apartment, making sure to make it seem like she struggled to shut the door slightly as she saw one of her neighbors come up the stairs.

Anya pulled her coat over herself tightly as she exited the apartment complex and walked over to the car, despite being immortal she hated winter as much as the next person, she much rather preferred summer. At-least in the summer she could go swimming. Letting herself into the back seat she greeted them, "Miss me?" She asked jokingly, giggling soon after. "Much better..thanks for waiting on me Dmitri." She told him before leaning back in her seat.

Well, the girl was honest, so that made things simpler, in a way. Dmitri considered his words carefully, not wanting her to misunderstand him or his intentions.

"I don't want your fear, cowards are worth nothing to me, but neither are the fearless worth anything to me, they always get beaten by the slightest of foes, because they never bothered to fear the consequences of their failure. I'm surprised you invited us to dinner, simply because you don't know much about us, and inviting strangers to dinner isn't an american custom. And whether you fear me or not, if you're ever in my way I will remove you. It's just what I do. Tell me something, why did you kill the lights in the warehouse?"

I listen to her response, if she bothers to give one. When Anya returns, I glance back over the seat and notice the change in hairstyle, though most of women I know are constantly changing their hair so I don't make anything of it. I grin and slip back into the uncle role, why did I keep doing that?

"Of course we did, feel better now? ... It wasn't too bad, Adelaide kept me company."

I start the car again, and drive on to Adelaide's place, parking in the small lot under the building for residents. I turn off the car and get out, locking it as everyone piles out. I wait for the girls to head off, and shake my head. I must be going soft, guess I'll get to die tomorrow then. Oh well, I'll deal with that tomorrow. I follow my passengers up to Adelaide's place and try to find a seat somewhere.

Akira smirked, grabbing some of the money off of the table as she got up off the couch. She threw on her coat and boots, throwing open the door with subdued flair.

“C’mon Madi,” The demon beckoned, “Let’s see what kind of fun we can come up with.” She shut the door as soon as she was able, knowing that Paxton’s work should probably literally stay behind closed doors whenever possible. She wasn’t sure if any of the people around here would even care as long as they didn’t see the body, but it was better to not give any of them the opportunity in the first place. She practically glided down the stairs to the ground floor and opened the door to the cold streets of Chicago, exiting and waiting for Madi to follow.

“You’re not really just in a bad mood today,” Akira asked once the shadow imp had followed, “Are you, Madi?” She walked as she talked, heading towards a destination that she hadn’t actually thought up yet; another fact that she tried to hide behind her knowing smile.

The bird watched with it's beady little eyes while Akira readied herself, it's mood difficult to read now that it had stopped squawking. When Akira beckoned Madi forward, the bird lowered it's raised talon and let out a short scream, waddling over to the door in a brooding manor. When it neared Paxton, and was almost out the door, Madi let out a low growl that sounded more like a dog than a bird. This immediately drew Paxton's attention, his lips twisting into a scowl as if offended by the noise. Before he could react any further however, Madi had leapt into the air and jetted out the door towards the stairwell.

"Have fun," Paxton called out just as Akira shut the door, the bitterness still in his tone despite him trying to shrug it off. After that, the apartment seemed to fall into silence; the distant fluttering of Madi's wings indicating she'd reached the ground floor and was only waiting to be let outside. As soon as Akira walked out into the night, Madi fluttered after her and very tentatively tried landing on the demon's shoulder. The imp weighed practically nothing, and unlike how she tried digging her talons into Paxton's shoulder she seemed to be taking care not to rip the textile surface of the jacket.

Though the bird remained silent for a little while upon being questioned by Akira, eventually it lifted it's head and croaked a short, "no..." This was a followed by a few short bursts of awkward grunting and low snarls; nonsense to most but to demons it was fragment but understandable conversation.

"No mad... Pax- Pax idiot. Summoning... no like summon figure-eight. Ass. Figure-eight is ass."

Madi finished her thoughts with a final snort, seeming calmer than before but no less cheerful- not that cheerful was a norm for her.

Paxton licked his fingers, the chalk dust on his hands dissolving as he wet the tips of his digits. Carefully he brought his hand back down towards the floor, and gently smudged away a few inconsistencies in some of the shapes he'd drawn. The number of little runes totaled nineteen once he was finished, each one spaced away from the others and separated by the two large shapes dominating the center of the salt circle: a crooked star, and a spiral with a figure-eight twisted into the center.

"Thank you, Akira," Paxton breathed, shutting his eyes for a moment and smiling when he didn't hear the flutter of wings or a horrid screech. He only had time to appreciate the silence for a moment though, and felt he should get things over with before Akira eventually decided to come back to the apartment. Slowly Paxton stood, looking down at his handiwork before carefully stepping over the circle of salt on the ground. It took up about the same space as a dinning table, a considerable portion of the room due to it's size, and would be big enough to lay down in should one try.

This was sort of the intent though, and Paxton put away his chalk and salt so that he could turn his attention to the body still leaning up against the wall. With a short huff of preparation, Paxton knelt down and bunched up as much of the corpse's clothing as he could to make two handholds. Slowly he lifted himself to stand, raising the body off the floor and lifting it high enough that it's limbs wouldn't drag on the ground. Blood dripped from the stump that had once been a hand, creating a tiny trail along the ground as Paxton heaved the body over the ring of salt and down onto the ground inside it. After the body was on the floor, Paxton peeled open both it's eyes and began shifting the body so that it's feet were inline with the furthest point of the star. This left most of the spiral, and the figure-eight, covered by the body itself, and with those final adjustments done Paxton leapt out of the salt circle and rushed towards the coffee table where he'd left his jacket. In it's pockets he found his father's codex, the old, purple leather-bound book warm to the touch. With the book in hand, Paxton rushed back towards the circle, stopping at it's edge and opening the codex to flip through it's pages. The papers were old but well taken care of, a multitude of foreign languages filling the pages; most human, some not. Here and there the pages were scrawling with edits made in pen, clashing with the timeworn ink and overpowering whatever it had once said. It was a page like this that Paxton sought, one that detailed the ritual he'd just placed out before him but in a much simpler context. The pages had no mention of the use of a corpse though, nor did they detail the 19 extra runes Paxton had drawn. It was by choice not to make those edits and put them into the book; they were safer in his memory. The words of summons however would not survive in Paxton's mind, and instead were written in pen at the bottom of the page.

"Tempus Bibitor, attingit per spatium vacuum vicissimque scabunt. Invoco te virum finxit temporis!" Paxton spoke, each word beginning to resonate with the next as if each carried a tremendous weight. With the final syllable his voice had grown to a shout, and the final weight had been dropped causing something in the air to snap. From upstairs someone began stomping, demanding silence which Paxton ignored. He need not speak anymore however, the crackle of energy in the air jolting erratically as the chalk on the floor began to glow a soft red in colour. The ring of salt lit aflame, smoke blowing inwards towards the corpse at the center of the circle. Soft tendrils of vapour passed over the cold, dead flesh, wafting over the body and caressing each soft curve and edge. Then all at once the corpse seized up, and the smoke was sucked into it's now gaping mouth. The body began to spasm, like someone were trying to bring it back to life with a car battery, but it only took a moment to see this was not the case. The corpse had begun to age, slowly at first but soon at an alarming rate. Years of potential that had been cut short flashed before Paxton's eyes until eventually the corpse grew thin and withered. Flesh turned to dust and bones crumbled soon after, the thin grey powder beginning to rise into the air and swirl around the spiral drawn into the ground. The dust began to congeal, a humanoid form being outlined by the small but contained vortex within the summoning circle. Limbs became more recognizable, a body was soon visible, and slowly the dust put itself back together to create a new body. Now solid, the body dropped towards the floor and caught itself on one knee, unmoving and silent with it's ash grey head bowed low. Overhead the lights flickered in and out for a moment as the air began to settle, and the strange energy in the air dissipated as if it were never there.

"Hey, Tim," Paxton muttered, pushing his foot forward and breaking the circle of salt.

"Long time, Gerelade," the ashen figure breathed, still seemingly frozen in place but now with it's lips curled into a smile.
