Welcome to Cyphan. While they are technically a Seperatist world, succeeding from the Republic about a year ago, they are not a violent planet and have not chosen to support the Trade Federation or other militaries. Instead, they are an Independent World, trading with both sides, and acting as neutral ground for the two sides to come together.
They have a fairly weak central government, a direct democracy, in which all officials are elected, and all of them are removed from office once public confidence in them falls to below 50%. All citizens may alter their vote at any time, voting either yes or no on their support for each elected official or law. Laws are created in the Senate, but have no power until the people ratify them with a 50% or greater vote.
Cyphan also has its own force tradition, formed mostly by ex-Jedi and ex-Sith several thousand years ago after they fled their respective groups and came to Cyphan, called the Cyphan Way. This tradition treats the Force as an extension of life, not a mystical field which must be revered. To them, there is no light side or dark side in the same way there are no inherently evil lifeforms or inherently good lifeforms. These concepts merely represent the good and evil sides of life, the social and anti-social if you will. The Force is a gift or a tool, the same way a musician may have a gift for art, or an engineer may have a gift for doing math. It makes no more sense to revere the Force than it would make to revere Math or Art.
The law of the planet tries to treat everyone as equals, though sometimes it fails. As such, the ability to use the Force does not place one above the law. A Force user who uses there power to kill will be treated the same as a person who uses a blaster to kill.
We just heard of the Battle of Geonosis. The cold War has turned hot, and we are in the middle of it. Both sides have come here to try and recruit our people, including the Jedi and the Sith through Dooku, and some people have joined one side or the other, believing in their cause.
We are a group of refugees and natives returning home who must decide how to deal with this war. Do we choose a side and fight? Do we remain neutral? To we support one side without fighting? The fate of the planet, and even the Galaxy, rests on the decisions that ordinary people make. Where will our decisions lead the world?
