Jackson Miller
'Boy-Wonder of the Roadie World'

Taking a sip of the coffee in his hand, Jackson tapped his fingers against his phone to the rhythm of the opening band's set. "Yes, mum, i'm sure about moving out, i'll get some other place soon, and Alex never pays his fucking ren- I meant freaking, mum." Letting out a sigh, he lowered the phone away from his mouth, keeping the speaker to his ear as he took another sip of coffee, listening to his mother's nightly advice and speeches, still trying to give him some guidance half-way across the world. Hearing the cheers of the crowd as the Opening band began to finish up their set, Jackson cut in to his mother's speech. "Alright mu- mum, mum! I've got to go, work's calling. Yes, i'll call you tomorrow, promise. Love you too." He said in a hurried manner as he tossed his coffee aside, hanging up his phone and moving inside as he tucked it into the pocket of his cargo pants, placing his headset back on.

The Australian man tapped his fingers idly against his belt as he walked back inside toward the backstage area, he'd had a rough day so far and this was adding to his overall stress, nothing had particularly gone wrong yet, but he generally held a deep-seeded fear of Murphy's law on gigs like this. The fact that everything had gone well so far, only served to work the Roadie up more, making him hankering for a smoke, though for the time being, he'd held off remarkably well. Getting back with the crew, he let out a breath, clearing his throat as he called out.

"Alright, get the setup reconfigured for the Headline, make sure we've got the keyboard out there and working." He clapped his hands together, making sure those around him were paying attention and doing what they were supposed to. Having helped to put the night together, Jackson had been put in charge of the crew for the evening, it was a stressful situation for him, a nobody band at an important gig, it could've made or broken his career just as it could theirs, tensions were high, but he was keeping it cool. For now. There was a break between both the acts, and he knew the Headlining band was still probably in the green room waiting for their call, but the break just meant more work for Jackson, making sure everything was perfect and set up for the act to go perfectly. "Did we set up those extra amps and make sure they're working? They were funky during sound check so I don't want them fucking up now." Letting out a sigh, Jackson scratched at his bearded cheek, just another night at work.

Oblivious to the perils of the boy-wonder of the roadie world, Levi plopped onto the couch with a bottle of Coors in one hand and a bottle opener in the other, taken from the conveniently nearby coffee table. After a nonchalant flick-of-the-wrist to pry off the lid, he idly tosses the bottle opener back onto the table and leans back into the couch, sinking into the leather with one arm holding the bottle and the other resting over the back of the couch.

"You guys saw how many people are out there, right?" Levi asks as he raises his bottle to his mouth. He pauses for a moment to take a mouthful before he sets the bottle back down and takes down the bitter liquid. "We must be doing something right to headline a turnout like that."

"OMG I LOVE THIS SONG! UGHHHH" Eureka said after coming to a stop from jumping around her room. "Nooo dont end..." She said looking for her iphone, digging in the pocket of her black skinny jeans attempting to replay the song. ♪Two~ sides~ twist and then collide-♪ "OMG Taking by Sunday.." She looked into the mirror shocked falling to her knees. "How could i forget about this song." She said falling to her back on her back reaching for her hair bush. When Eureka sung this song it would bring back the old times back in high school. At the annual talent show when her crush Cody performed My blue Heaven by Taking Back Sunday with his band. That year they came in first, despite the year before that coming in second. It had meant something to Cody and Eureka loves seeing the spark in the eyes of a singer.

"Fuck" She said looking around for her phone again. "What time is it ?" Damn it she thought grabbing her coat after finding her iphone in her pocket again. Later that night, Eureka found her self at the concert surrounded by people. It was truly her natural habitat as she blinded in scooting her way to the front just in time for the new fish in town. Green Room, The Amp

Where she was huddled in a corner with a pillow nicked from the couch, Mikayla had found where the WiFi signal was strongest. Her Macbook was balanced on her tucked-up legs. The screen bright, it made mirrors of the maroon-framed glasses on her nose, while she scrolled intently through Twitter. There were pictures of fans showing off The Amp, a few ten feet from the stage the band would soon be occupying with their larger-than-life presence. Selfies abounded across the Twittersphere, tumblr and Instagram. Every single face looked happy enough, and the followers had left near a thousand likes on the backstage photo Mikayla had uploaded only ten minutes ago, with the caption 'Blowing the roof off the place in an Amp near you. See you soon!' YouTube users who had bought tickets had left comments on their latest video voicing a unanimous anticipation for the concert. The rest of the fanbase had left replies of envy and congratulations. The last couple of months, fervour for this band had all been condensed on a screen, deceivingly intangible. Now there was a crowd screaming for four artistes. Mikayla couldn't help the small smile. Hopefully, none of them would leave asking for a refund tonight.

Mikayla did not look up from her laptop, when their lead guitarist spoke. She did, however, intone drily, "Good looks." Mikayla had seen enough comments raving over the band to know the fans loved them no small amount. Glancing over her laptop, she caught Levi's eye, and added, "And wicked sound, of course."

Their opening act had played their last notes. Mikayla shut her laptop and tucked it away on a cushion, fumbling for her phone and camera, popping to her feet and jogging out the green room. She wandered around backstage for a few moments, before she found Jackson Miller, the man with full hands keeping everything backstage straight. He looked keyed-up, but Mikayla was hunting for a couple of soundbites.

She slid in front of him. Any time now, the show would start. Smelling faintly of tobacco, Miller had a full foot on Mikayla, and - in flats - she had to stand on tip-toe and raise her arms so he could speak to the camera at eye-level. Finger poised over the record button, she said in a rush, "Miller, if you give me ten seconds of your time talking about how you feel about the show-slash-band, I'll buy you a donut afterwards. Do we have a deal?"

Jackson Miller
'Boy-Wonder of the Roadie World'

Directing people back and forth between their different jobs, generally making sure no one was doing something they weren't supposed to and everyone had something to do, Jackson sighed as he approached the audio set-up, making sure the levels on all the amps were appropriately set so they wouldn't blow out once they were used. His focus was drawn away however as Mikayla ducked in front of him, it took him a moment to figure out who she was, but he was able to note behind the Camera that he had met her already, earlier that night during the sound-check. "Ten seconds, huh? That'll cost you two strawberry jam ones." He smirked in a self-amused manner, adjusting his mic so it was out of his face, looking down at her as he adjusted his top, generally making himself look gorgeous before she hit the record button.

"Opening act here at the Amp was solid tonight, got the crowd nice and riled up, but I think everyone here's a bit keen for the headline to get out there and start tearing shit up." He said to the camera with a nice, charming wink, putting on his best reporter act as he spoke, tilting his mic back down as he shifted his gaze from the Camera to the smaller woman behind it. "Good? Or should I try it again more dramatically?" Jackson let out a chuckle, reaching past her down to the console she stood in front of, adjusting a few dials at the behest of an unseen voice through his headphones. Tilting his head back in her direction as he leaned over the console, Jackson idly tapped his fingers against the table to no particular tune. "They all ready? Some of the crowd here tends to expect a lot, not that i'm saying they won't get it, of course."

A random girl saw Eureka standing still not talking to anyone. She would say in a classic stereotypical valley girl voice, "So like, i hear the band only has one guy in it. Like, so hipster wouldn't you say?" Eureka was in her own la la land waiting for the band to take to the stage while daydreaming about Cody's autograph when she realized someone was talking to her. "Huh?"Eureka said looking back at the random girl who was standing a bit closer then anyone else. Eureka was drooling a little before snapping to reality.

The random girl took a step back and looked at Eureka."ehhh.. Oh I'm sorry, I just thought you wouldn't hear me with all the people around. This is close enough" said the random girl. She gave a fake smile waiting for Eureka to reply Confused, Eureka tilted her head to the right a bit with a blank expression. "What do you mean?"The random girl looked annoyed at this point, figuring Eureka has problems. "Oh.. wait"Eureka Would begin to talk to herself about Levi One guy? What in the world could she be talking about? Oh Duhhh? Is he dating all of them? What is this? he better be like the comic relief. Like if the band sucks he would tell a joke. I want to see him do a handstand. Yeahhhh a handstand would prove his awesomeness.

"Oh wait, yeah I think I read that on the website when I got my ticket under listings." Getting excited she smiled and placing a hand on the random girls shoulder "If They're good Ill follo..." she paused ~Now Eureka darling A self conscience resemblance of an angle popped up on her shoulder. "Should you be telling random strangers our problems?" Eureka spaced out for a second in front of the girl for the second time. "Eh I mean" She said regaining her composure and changing her demeanor, "I mean if they're good I can see myself checking them out after the concert." Pulling away her hand slowly after realizing the random girl was uncomfortable. "Sorry about that.." The random girl turned away and began talking to another person in the crowd. Eureka shrugged."Oh well."

She pulled out her iPhone checking the website for the band's info. A list of members came up with no pictures but each name had a fun fact under them. "Levi huh.." She scrolled down looking at the comments at the bottom from the people who took the time to sign up, just for the 10% off ticket sale. "Oh... the only heterosexual, wait... what? Addy? What is pansexual?" all the comments seemed so understanding as if they could relate. "Am I the only one who doesn't know what a pansexual is?" At this moment she received a text message from her mother.

{I need you home after the show, Princess Nom needs you Eura. Mamas going out! xoxo}

Eureka slid down on the text message activating the quick reply. {{Mom... Princess Nom's is a cat...}} After hitting send she turned to the stage waiting.

Lidded, tall hazelnut latte in hand, Anita paced the green room, each one of her steps quickly proceeding the other as she passed the door multiple times a minute. Anita had worked her butt off to get this gig and was nervous for what was to come. This was the band's first proper gig, cafes, pubs and YouTube were one thing but a live gig like this was a whole other ball game entirely and Anita was going to do as much as she could to make sure this performance went as smoothly as possible.

Eventually she gave up her pacing and swiftly made her way to the closest couch, sitting on its edge, continuing to take small sips of her latte. She gives a sigh looking around at the band. Levi sipping a beer, Mikayla cuddled up to her laptop and such. The band deserved this, they had spent so much time working on their pieces and preparing for today, plus they had survived though Anita's stressful raging the last couple of weeks. Silently she slipped out of green room door, making way toward the stage area. She stood at doorway for a while, watching the roadies set up. She wasn't too knowledgable on wires and electronics and such so decided not to interfere for the moment. Through the thick curtain screams and yells shoot through filling the stage. Cheers for the band seep through. Tonight, it seemed, would go swimmingly.

Her preshow ritual consisted of three things:
1) Munching on the brownies/cookies/cupcake/whatever it was she baked the night before
2) Blasting her adrenaline-building, good luck-granting playlist
3) Charging her battery

Mackenzie nibbled on the last of her chewy, dinosaur-shaped brownies, savoring its chocolatey goodness. Not to toot her own horn or anything, but these were preeetty great. Like, even stoners would prefer these over pot brownies kind of great. She thought she had mucked up the recipe when she added a tablespoon more of Hershey's cocoa than was prescribed, but it turned out to be a happy accident. Anyway. First one down, two to go. Completing her ritual was a must. Laugh at her for being superstitious, but she'll have you know that there was a precedent to all this. That one time she skipped on eating her stress-baked baked goods (because she was having a really bad case of stage fright back then and eating would have been a terrible idea), she tripped over the mic stand and almost crashed into Levi in the middle of his guitar solo.

So. Time for number two—er, not that kind.

Pulling out her red wireless Beats from her backpack, Mackenzie sat upside down on the couch, feet immediately tapping out a rhythm against the wall as soon as the tracks played. Music blared out of her headphones; a muted melody to anyone that was not her, but a crashing wave in her ears, drowning out all ambient noises in the Green Room. It was easy all too easy to get lost in the upbeat riffs and the hypnotic tempo.

For a moment, she saw the band on stage. Bright lights flashing, the crowd erupting in cheers.

Mackenzie grinned.

No matter how many shows they've done, the preshow jitters never went away. It starts days before, planting dozens of little caterpillars in her stomach that metamorphose into butterflies right before the curtains were drawn. Some shows, it gets really close to a full-blown panic attack. Other shows, it's barely there. But what she learned was that the more it happened, the better she became at converting those jitters into pure energy. She let another three tracks play, letting the music wash over her, until it swept away her thrumming anxieties and only a growing excitement remained.

Now for number three.

Mackenzie rolled off the couch with flourish, newly awakened vigor very much apparent, and slid her headphones down to her neck. Now, the last part was the most important. Every performance gets emotionally-charged really fast—it was one of the perks of being a walking, talking marquee of expressions—and that means it gets draining just as quickly. She needed her dose of assurance.

Her eyes searched through the room and locked onto a target. One tried and true and ever effective.

Mackenzie bounded toward Mikayla, giving Levi a light head-ruffling as she passed him by. The bottle in his hand made her playfully wag a finger at him. Beer probably did nothing to his amazing guitar skills, but she had learn to dislike the drink after it had dried up her throat after only a couple of sips.

"Miks!" Mackenzie was careful not to interrupt until the camera dinged, signaling the recording was over. Then her hands flew up and around her best friend's neck, in a Max-patented tacklehug from behind. "Charging time!"

The red LED numbers projected on the wall started a countdown. There were only minutes left until Miami Over Moon took center stage.

Samantha McGlynn

She sat atop the lone ottoman in the green room, hunched over as she held her compact mirror to her face. For the 5th time, she brought a red and purple stained tissue to her lips, wiping off the plum colored lipstick she'd just applied. With the tissue still in her hands, she bent to her side, reached down into her oversized makeup purse, and latched her index and ring fingers onto another tube of lipstick. She uncapped the capsule and reapplied it to her lips, coloring them burgandy. The girl grinned at herself in her mirror, clasping it shut along with the lipstick and tossing it back into her bag.

Undoing her high bun and letting her hair fall over her shoulders, Samantha retrieved her phone from the front pocket of her dress, snapping a quick selfie... or four, rather. Once she was done, she locked and pocketed the phone once more, practically beaming as she stood up straight, turning her head over to the bespectacled man on the couch behind her. She must not have noticed Mackenzie passing her by just moments ago, having been too focused and stressed out about getting her makeup to look the way she wanted it to.

"Hey Levi, when are we on?" she asked him, having forgotten the existence of the clock hanging on the wall behind her.

As Levi raised his bottle to his lips, he met eyes with Mikayla over the bottle.
"Good looks. And wicked sound, of course." Mikayla answered. Levi perked his brow in agreement as he lowered his bottle.
"Got just the right man for the job then, hey?" he jokes with a smirk as he idly looks over those in the green room. Samantha McGlynn: talented bass guitarist and singer, and she founded the band with him all those months ago; defiantly one for stage presence, with that personality of hers. Who else, uh.. Adalaide Laroche - a little for quiet tonight, that's a bit unlike her. But where did Mackenzie g-

Levi playfully swatted at the hand so impolitely ruffling his immaculatly groomed hair - or so he'd probably like to think, anyway.
"Hey, the hair! Hot property!" he playfully cried before returning a hand to his hair to fingercomb it back into the ideal spot. After identifying the waving finger, Levi couldn't help but smirk: he raises the bottles back to his lips as he makes a peace sign with his spare hand. After taking in another mouthful, slowly progressing through the bottle, he rests his wielding arm back on the chair with a content sigh. It was looking good, after all: good company, a big gig, and Coors - oh, the lovely Coors.

"Hey Levi, when are we on?" came a familiar voice - the aforementioned Samantha McGlynn herself.
"Uh..." Levi lets out as he brings up his left wrist and tilts it around to present the top to himself. After a brief moment to figure out the whole 'analogue clock' thing again, he lets out a lesser curse as he swings his head up to the countdown in the room. "Bit under 3 minutes." he quickly follows up before raising the bottle to his lips, holding it near-vertically and quickly processing the rest of the drink. Upon completion, he hurriedly sets the empty bottle on the coffee table before he reaches over the couch to grab his American Vintage '58 Telecaster. After a brief moment of fumbling to take a Jazz III plectrum out from it's tactfully position holder behind the headstock, he runs through the strings from low E to high E as a last-minute check that all's tuned and in order. "Get keen, boys!"

"Ten seconds, huh? That'll cost you two strawberry jam ones." As Jackson preened himself for the camera, Mikayla just grinned at the image of his face, captured in a miniscreen. She couldn't speak for herself - but she reckoned Miller could appear on footage with an egg smashed on his head and the majority of women would still find him attractive.

"Man, inflation hit us hard here," she said, pressing record.

Mikayla dodged to the side for Jackson to fiddle with a few knobs, letting the camera run a little longer for B-roll. "Nah, it was good," she said with a grin. "Girls online will absolutely love you." About to answer the next question, she ended recording, only to hear her name in a yell. With but a moment's preparation, Mikayla felt herself propelled forward in a bodily tackle from the back. She jack-knifed at the waist, but straightened her back with a beam as wide as the moon. She knew that voice, that practice. "Charging time!"

"So charge your battery, not at me," joked Mikayla, turning around to engulf her oldest friend in a tight if brief hug before pivoting to sling one arm over her shoulders and face Jackson. "You're going to have to ask the best member on this band if they're ready. I haven't the foggiest clue," she said to him, looking between Mackenzie and Jackson. "With you killing it onstage with the rest, and you holding down the fort, I can't imagine anything going wrong."

'Boy-Wonder of the Roadie World'

Oblivious to the fact he was still being recorded, Jackson let out an amused chuckle as she confirmed that the recording was indeed fine. "Girls online will absolutely love you." Tilting his head to the side in a combination of mock and legitimate interest, the right side of Jackson's lip was tugged upward in a smirk. "That so? Maybe I should've included my number in the recording somewhere." Laughing at his own quip, Jack tilted his head over Mikayla's shoulder momentarily, eyes drifting toward Anita as she came out from the green room. He'd been contemplating speaking to her throughout the night, however had decided considering he was so busy keeping things running, and because he couldn't think of a topic for the life of him, he would let her approach him if they were to speak that night. It was while he was watching Anita that an unfamiliar voice yell from elsewhere backstage, and Mikayla stumbled a few steps closer to him, propelled forward by one of the excited band members. "Charging time!" Lips curling back up in his trademark grin, he shifted his gaze back and forth between the two girls before him.

"Best member, huh? Well if that's the case, then it's an honour!" Giving an over-exaggeratedly regal bow, Jackson stood up straight once more and kept his gaze on Mackenzie. "I'm Jackson, guy in charge of all the tech tonight, absolute pleasure." He introduced himself in a more serious, legitimate matter, tilting his head back toward the countdown clock which hung on the wall. It was then that Mikayla said those terrifying words. "I can't imagine anything going wrong." A delightfully awkward chuckle escaped the tobacco-scented male, his face turning back toward the two as he reached up, idly scratching at the back of his neck. "Let's hope so at least, don't want to jinx anything, right?"

"Bit under 3 minutes." she heard him reply. Samantha made a face, as though the words had offended her. "Oh my God, what? Really?" she spoke hurriedly in reply, her attention directed away from Levi and towards the obnoxiously yellow painted electric bass guitar that stood on it's stand. With her socks hanging halfway off her feet, she practically leapt across the room on her toes, grabbing the instrument up and sliding the strap over her head and shoulders. Samantha twirled around suddenly, facing Levi as she began to backpedal.

"C'mon, I wanna get a picture before we go on!" she called out to him, spinning back around just as soon as she had faced him. As Samantha scooted towards the backstage in her tights, she knelt down in a quick, fluid motion, swiping her black pleather flats up off the ground. The roar of the crowd and the noise from the tech crew backstage drowned out Levi's reply as Samantha disappeared around the corner and out of the green room.

"...don't want to jinx anything, right?" Samantha heard the roadie's voice sound from around the corner. She nearly slipped as she came into view of the three conversing behind the stage, holding her hands out to keep her balance as she slid across the floor. Her shoes clattered to the floor once she had stopped, and she then stepped into each one as she reached for the phone inside of her dress' front pocket. "Hey, scoot together guys, I'm gonna take a picture!" she pipped up effusively. Samantha took several steps back, allowing everyone to get into view and situated before snapping the picture.

"Oh my god, what? Really?" asked Samantha as she screwed up her face and made a beeline for her bass guitar. Levi didn't have much to say - he just sort of let what was to happen, happen. He gave his high E string one last pluck, satisfied with its tone, before briefly laying out a E major chord across the fret-board and running across the 6 strings as a final confirmation.

"C'mon, I wanna get a picture before we go on!" called Samantha as she twirled towards Levi as he looked up from his guitar whilst concurrently putting his black-and-white checkered shoulder strap over his shoulder. Levi couldn't help but simply observe, a little bit stuck in the moment, as Samantha twirled right back on around and went low for her shoes. It was moments like these that you want to last, y'know? The ones that you take photos of and upload to tumblr or instagram or something with a nice filter on it, like the one of that girl excitedly pulling a guy along by his hand. The sort of stuff dreams are made of.
After partly recollecting himself from his daze, Levi shook his head to shake off any excessive last-minute nerves before speaking mostly to himself as he stands, guitar in tow:
"Showtime."

"..jinx anything, right?" Levi intercepted as he moved in pursuit of the eager Samantha, with one hand supporting the center neck of his guitar.
"Hey, scoot together guys, I'm gonna take a picture!" Samantha directed enthusiastically before moving to allow for the selfie. After briefly finger-combing his hair to ensure all's in order, Levi leaned into the side of the photo in a way that would display his guitar, his mandatory peace-sign, and part-comedic part-smiling facial expression.

Finally content on how the electronic work was going Anita spun on her heel to face to face the green room. As she spun Mackenzie came flying out of the Green Room missing Anita by centimetres but Mackenzie didn't seem to notice. Anita gave a sigh, pushing a wavy, honey blonde lock of hair that had come loose for her ponytail assuming Mackenzie was in her 'charging time' mode. The first gig Miami Over Moon had with Anita. As their manager was quite a small gig but Mackenzie had still taken to her usual charging time routine pouncing on an unsuspecting Anita giving her a bit of a fright.

She quickly looked down at her watch- 2 minutes to show time. She then turned her head to see the band together, Samantha, predictively, snapping a selfie of the group alongside the ever-so-confident roadie, Jackson Miller. Taking a deep breath Anita approached the group.

"Alright," she starts, looking down at her watch yet again, "An almost packed theatre and 90 seconds to show time, get out there and them what you got," Anita then points in the direction of the curtain-drawn stage with a smile watching them walk over to the stage.

As the group started leaving Anita turned over to the roadie deciding she should say something.
"Jackson" she greets him simply with a small nod of her head

Jackson Miller
'Boy-Wonder of the Roadie World'

Turning his head to the left, Jackson set eyes on Samantha and Levi, two other members of the band who he'd briefly met earlier before they went to chill in the Green room. Levi had seemed a decent bloke to him, the kind of guy you'd like to get a beer with, he was chilled out and generally seemed to have a laid back attitude about him. Samantha seemed quite the opposite, bubbly, always happy and keeping the mood high, also the kind of person you'd generally like to hang out with. "Hey, scoot together guys, I'm gonna take a picture!" Chuckling in an amused fashion, Jackson shifted so he was near the middle of the picture, making a comical face indicative of 'who the hell are these guys' as he'd point his thumbs toward the others in the photo, the jokey intention of the gesture more than obvious in the ensuing photograph.

Chuckling as the photo was taken, Jackson let his usual grin return to his face and slid his hands into his pockets idly, looking over the group, they all seemed in a good mood, of which he was pleased, the fact that their nerves weren't getting to them usual was a sign that things were going smoothly. "Alright," Jackson hadn't noticed Anita approaching, staying quiet as he looked over to her and watched her usher the band on-stage, as they moved out, he took a deep breath, listening to the cheers of the crowd out there as they moved onto the stage, ready to begin their show.

"Jackson." It was Anita again, looking over to her, he gave a sincere, but awkward smile, returning the nod. "Anita." It was simple, and appropriately awkward as he stood there for a few moments, internally debating on whether or not to continue the conversation. Eventually, he decided to do so, despite a small part of himself assuring him that it was a bad idea. "It's uh, been a while. How've you been?" He asked simply, sucking on his lip slightly as a nervous tick.
