"No kidding, huh? Seems like just yesterday we were hunkered down here trying to blow eachother's heads off," Ty chuckled. "My my how time flies, huh?"
"Noticeably slower, now that I don't have a time machine," said Raven. "But that's okay, I'll just put that on your tab." He grinned, hoping Ty might clue in, as he'd used the same words after stealing Moses' comm.
Ty cast him a wary, sideways glance, but shook the look from his face quickly and chuckled. "If you say so. I'll have Dana wire you the payment," he smirked.
"You need to learn a thing or two about stuff to say in order to gain people's trust," Raven replied teasingly. "The people you con must be reaaally stupid."
Ty called down the service elevator and chuckled. "Those are the easiest ones to con," he said. "That's like conning 101. Target the stupid ones." The gates rattled open and Ty stepped through and held the doors for Yebbok and Raven.
S"the stupid and the rich ones right?" Raven said as he entered. "Cause thst way even if they figure out what you're doing they'll have too much money to care."
Ty laughed loudly as the elevator rose with an electric hum. "You'd make a hell of a pirate, you know," he said and clapped Raven on the back. "If you're ever looking to switch careers, I'm always looking for fresh talent."
"You would not be the first." Ty said, stepping out of the elevator and heading towards the command deck. Yebbok stepped silently aside into one of the rooms, leaving just Ty and Raven on the deck. Ty dropped into the command chair and tapped a couple buttons on the arm. "Now then. Let's get down to business," he said as the large holoscreen on the far wall lit up, displaying maps of the system.
Raven crossed his arms, leaning back against the command chair arm (whether Ty was okay with it or not). "Firdt thing's first: does the Vespera have a CHAM shield? If not I can modify your current shielding systems to suit it. It will be essential in remaining undetected during the operation."
Ty nodded but shrugged. "The Vespera is technically CHAM capable, but not enabled. Whith the mods I've done, there's no way we could maintain the power output to reach full speed while under CHAM."
"We'd only need to maintain it while loading and unloading the cargo," said Raven. "That way pursuers couldn't track us theough our hyperjumps because as soon as we come out of it it'll be like we droppwd off the face of the galaxy."
Ty spun absently in his chair. "That'd be good and all, but the Máni haulers were never equipped with hyperjump drives. They were built with warp drives. It was supposed to be the next hot thing in faster than light travel. Turns out they rattled up the cargo too much for anything delicate. They are also not nearly as subtle." He patted the console before him. "Mánis are tough little bastards and real maneuverable at sub-lightspeeds, but they are not subtle ships."
Raven just sighed. "Whatever you say," he replied. "On another note, can Dana pull us up a floor plan of this ship, or one like it? So I can note entrances and exits."
Raven examined the layout. "Okay, so theoretically, we can do this all without being spotted by the crew if we get it done while they're all off duty. That's good to know."
"Dana, bring up the station the cargo is on," Ty said. Dana nodded and a moment later a star map of the Quealt system with a cutaway of one of Balgder's numerous natural satellites. The largest of which contained a storehouse that the local sector police used for confiscated goods. "This is where we'll be hitting. Balgder Confiscated Goods Holding Facility 4. It's the largest of the five and specializes in oversize cargo and pharmaceuticals. Our target being the latter."
"Drug operations, well at least I'm keeping my felonies consistent," Raven commented. "Still, why you always have to go big or go up is something I'll never understand."
"Showmanship!" Ty grinned, waving his hands. "What's the point of being the most notorious pirate in the galaxy if nobody knows your name ro your legacy?"
