Hikari is a goofball and pervert on his time off, though despite that, if a situation is dire then he tolerates no slacking off or goofing off. In dire situations, and even more simple missions, Hikari turns into a more serious person. Always staying calm, cool, and collected, he stays focused on the goal. Also being very intelligent, he can come up with multiple plans of attack in seconds. Can even see (Or hear) abilities for the first time and make theories on how they work, 99% of the time he’s correct on how they work, then he looks for a weakness in the abilities and strike.
Hikari cares greatly for the lives of his fellow Shinigami, even if he doesn’t like someone, he wouldn’t want to see them killed by someone and would go great lengths to risk his life and protect them. He hates seeing people suffer, despite his liking of fighting, he would rather end things quicker than let them drag on more than they have to and would mercy kill if need be even to his enemies.
Hikari is a man who doesn’t hold on to the past, although his goal in life involves what happened in the past, he doesn’t grieve on it everyday. His manner of speaking is polite, though at times blunt and harsh; he speaks what’s on his mind and tries to give advice to those who need it. His calm voice helps in the matter of calming people down, and sometimes with influence, he helps best with people who are grieving over the past and lost ones.
History:
Hikari was born into the Shinrai clan, a small clan in the Soul Society that values forms of Hakuda/Zanjutsu combat over Kido combat. Hikari had high spirit energy as a child, which caused him to be secured in a room for most days so he didn’t accidently to hurt anyone. Most of his days being spent reading books, allot of them about fighting. One night, Hikari had snuck out of his room and ran off.
Out of the clan grounds, he ran, wanting to see what was out there. He didn’t think about his Spirit energy though, and had ran into a Hollow resting ground where he attracted a Hollow. It was bigger than a normal Hollow, but Hikari didn’t know what a regular sized looked like. He turned and ran as the beast chased him, but he was finally caught.
Feeling a scratch down his eye, the next thing he knew he woke up in his room. Shinrai elder members surrounding him, it was revealed that he was out for a couple of days and that his father found him before the Hollow killed him. Instead of a punishment, he was put out to train. Figuring if something like that happened again, atleast he could protect himself.
Due to that, Hikari trained heavily in Zanjutsu and Hakuda. His training consisted of the basics first, wooden swords and punching trees. Once he got that down, a few years later of slow training, yet decent, he began his spars.
Sparring with his peers, he came out on top along with a few other members going by the names of Kenta (Adopted), Satomaru, Kaguya, and Kuro, the five went on to more advanced training which consisted in training with multiple weapons.
After years of training and studying, the five were knowledgeable and trained in the arts of Zanjutsu. In which four of students chose swords as their main weapon, Bōjutsu being an art of training in which Kenta chose a staff as his main weapon. Hikari was also proficient in Bōjutsu, not as much as Kenta, and not as good with it as he was with Zanjutsu, but enough that he could use it to defend himself if need be.
Next came Hakuda training, hand-to-hand combat, in which they were to practice fighting two whole years without their Zanpakuto. After the two years, results were out. Hikari came out as number one, in a tie with Satomaru. Number two was Kaguya, then Kenta, then Kuro.
The five then set off on their own, to train with individual masters of their clan. Hikari set off with his father, Hikaru Shinrai, whom was a clan elder and formally a Captain of the Gotei 13. He was also a Vizard…It was unknown why he left the Gotei 13, atleast to Hikari. But he never questioned it, and they set off to train.
Hikari was trained in Shinigami techniques by his father, trying Kido out first it was shown to be a huge fail despite Hikari’s higher than average spirit energy. They decided to scratch that idea, and worked on his shunpo. Hikari got it down in a couple weeks, and was even able to catch up with his father, a Captain. Though, he suspected his father was powering down for him.
The next part of his training was deadly, after years of training, at age 160 (16), Hikari was to be put to the test with what he knew. A no holds barred spar; they’d go against each other with everything they had. Hikari not really having much as his father pointed his sword yelling the words, “Bankai!”
Zhǎo shòu, his Zanpakuto name was. It matched his Bankai, what was summoned was a ghost shaped creature with long black claws. Nails seemed like they were covered with blood, but never dripping off but dripped down the nail anyways. Hikari didn’t let it get to him though, despite the fear that ran through him as he looked at the creature. He was always taught to never back down, and he didn’t.
Next thing he knew the Spirit energy inside of him shot out, causing him to hunch over a bit just by it almost crushing him. Though he kept a determined face, chuckling a bit. It was blue, his Spirit energy was, and it caused the wind around him to swirl violently as well the haori he was wearing to rip.
As the fight went on, Hikari was losing. Cut in multiple places, he hardly got a few hits in. Every time he tried to attack his father, the ghost would suddenly appear and cut at him like an angry dog causing him to shoot back. Every time he tried to attack the ghost, well, his attacks would go right through and he’d get cut again.
He finally fell, blood pouring from his wounds, his father then trashed talked. Saying how he couldn’t do it, saying he could fall just as easily as he did when he was younger to a hollow, which seemed to strike a nerve in his son.
Fingers pushing into the ground, Hikari slowly stood as more and more Spirit energy shot out of him. Wind swirling violently directly around him, and behind him, beside him. His golden gauntlets breaking, his eyes turned blue and it seemed like he was….”Oh no,” the words shot out of Hikaru’s mouth.
Quickly, Hikaru’s hand shot down his face as a mask appeared with markings on it. Black and purple energy shooting out from behind him, Hikaru deactivated his Bankai and shot over to his son with a chop to his neck causing Hikari to stumble back, Hikaru then activated his Shikai and pointed it towards Hikari’s forward. Within the next few seconds Hikari reverted back to normal, though completely wiped out falling to the ground.
Hikari awoke back in his room, wounds healed. He stood up and walked outside to see his father talking to other students, walking over; he was told he was out for a couple of days. Hikari felt a bit embarrassed by that, but never spoke out about it, just nodded and was told his training was over for now. That was, if he could beat a certain member, Jin Shinrai, he was the one who promoted other Shinigami in the clan. But it was more to it…
Sun fall came, and Hikari made his way out of the clan grounds, remembering this was the place that Hollow attacked him. He gripped his sword tight as he walked up to Jin, a powerful looking made with a long teeth sword.
Jin stated how this wouldn’t be a normal spar, and how it was dangerous. That one of them could lose their life, but Hikari accepted anyways, and so the fight began with normal sword clashing. Then came the actual fighting, blade splattering here and there but they ignored it. But fighting wildly, yet with skill. Jin was impressed by how much Hikari kept up with him, but then he jumped back and crushed something in his hand. Next a hoard of Hollows came running at them, mostly Hikari due to his high spirit energy. The fight continued with them attacks hollows, then each other.
They fought for a few hours straight, before calming to a halt. Jin’s breathing becoming a bit difficult, though Hikari was hunched over gasping for a breath. That was allot, but he knew he’d be fine. Covered in cuts, they both made their way back to the clan grounds while avoiding the Hollow bodies that soon dissolved.
That was when Hikari was promoted to a Knight, one of the highest ranks. They were set to protect the clan, and were only given to the strongest. Kenta also found his way into that rank, along with Satomaru and Kuro. Kaguya was sent off to become an assassin, made sense to Hikari.
At age 174 (17), Hikari was now one of the strongest in his rank. Alongside Kenta, and Satomaru, they were a strong trio. Kuro was strong, but by far the weakest out of the four of them. At that time, also, Hikari had learned of his father’s death. It was unsure why he died, but Hikari wanted to find out.
Late that night an attack happened, three Gillian’s appeared with another strange individual. Late to sense them, the three Hollows shot a cero out in unison which destroyed most of their clan, the children were all dead. Knights on patrol died, some of the elders couldn’t handle the three cero shots and died.
Hikari shot out of his room to help fight the Gillian, but instead he encountered the individual. White clothes, white hair, the man had a thick Bankai that was surrounded by a dark purple Aura. The man attacked Hikari, not known of the high spirit energy, Hikari raised it high at the last second, the attack sending him a few feet but not cutting him badly. Hikari shot towards the man, then noticed who it was; Kuro.
The same man in his Knight squad, he told Hikari that he felt tired of being considered the weakest. No one had known he acquired Bankai, in which he had the ability to summon things through a portal using his sword. Hikari was pissed off, but didn’t show it. He found it petty, and kept his calm, he wouldn’t show anger over petty things.
The two then began fighting more, Hikari holding his own well even if Kuro kept summoning Hollows that fired ceros. Hikari took the attacks like they were nothing, still holding his own and getting some attacks off of Kuro. Rain fell with Hikari and Kuro hunched over, sword next to sword, panting as destruction rained over them as one Gillian kept his stand and most of the Knights dead.
A strong spirit energy came by, a Captain from the Soul Society had came and easily wiped out the last Gillian. Kuro took his attention off of Hikari for a second to look at the Captain, which was his downfall. Hikari forced his blade through Kuro’s chest and fall on top of him with his blade going into the ground trapping Kuro there.
“Hikari,” a whispered came. Hikari looking up with a, “Huh? Who called my name?” he asked as he looked around which made Kuro chuckle, “The plan…Worked,” he mumbled as the Captain dropped down to help Hikari up.
It seemed that he and Kenta were the only two who survived, waking up in a medic room he looked at Kenta who looked beat all to hell. Then down at him, wrapped in bandages.
He sighed and figured they had no other choice but to stay in the Soul Society instead of the clan grounds, Kenta was ok with that. Hikari was too then, so after they healed they joined the academy. Six years later, he and Kenta both graduated, though parted ways afterwards.
Other:
His goal is to find out what happened to his father, and to find anymore surviving members of his clan, though he puts Soul Society first.
His spirit energy is above most of his peers, and makes him able to move freely around those with unnaturally high spirit energy. Though in no way is it comparable to a Captain’s, and isn’t on the same level of Shiro Sora’s. It could be compared to an average lieutenant, though a bit higher.
Due to having high control over his spirit energy, he’s learned how to infuse that with his blade. So when he stabs into the ground, or into an enemy, he can transfer reiatsu so that it explodes or overwhelms an opponent. He can only do this in his sealed form.
Although he has a Shikai, and knows some abilities, he prefers using straight forward Zanjutsu than Shikai abilities. This may seem like neglect to his Zanpakuto at times.

Shikai skills:
(Only activates it for training, or if he absolutely needs to…Like a serious fight. Or ordered to)
1. Kaze rūsu (Wind Loose) – Wind swirls around Hikari like a ball, and although only he can see the wind, whoever gets close to him can feel it and are sometimes thrown off their feet if not careful. This ability needs little action to activate; all it needs is one twirl. This ability enhances his agility and speed for a while. (Can use up to four posts only, as well deactivate it for further use [I.e can use for two post, then deactivate it for another two post though shortened times]. This ability stays active even if Hikari switches to his sealed form, though there’s no way he can deactivate it).
2. Hari no ame (Needle rain) – Hikari slams his Shikai into the ground, causing the sky to turn grey and rain to fall. Only, the sky turns black only in the surrounding area. And the rain is set to hit a certain target, the rain acting as needles only that they don’t penetrate and stay in the skin, only give off the immense pain of thousands of needles hitting the body. It also causes cuts. The downfall of this technique is those who rely on speed, although the rain will follow after them, it is very easy to dodge this technique which is why it used better if an opponent is down or is slow (Or a bait and catch technique). (The rain falls/follows for a minimum of three posts, and then takes a three post cool down. Same rules apply as above; can deactivate it for more turns later but at a cost of it being less effective)
3. Hiraishin (Light[ning] rod) – Hikari holds his Shikai up in the air and calls down a lightning bolt to zap his Zanpakuto, then if he blocks an attack from a metal weapon (A blade) whoever is holding that weapon gets zapped, depending on how hard they’re hit then it could paralyze them for a short amount of time. Paralyzation can simply just numb a hand, or stop the entire body from moving. As stated, it depends on how hard the attack is. Someone relying on full brute strength would be paralyzed more likely than someone who focuses more on speed attacks. Downfall of this ability is that his hand[s] gets numb the more he blocks attacks. (This ability can only be active for five posts, and then takes a five post cool down. Though due to the risk of his own hands getting numb, he only does it once unless he’s in a life or death situation)
