Strengths and Weaknesses

Gifts
Bastian has not achieved the rank of Black Lieutenant by being weak. In addition to his natural cunning, he has three great gifts, which he has taken full advantage of with ruthless efficiency.

Firstly, he is perhaps one of the finest swordsman this world has known, certainly among the greatest still alive. With a blade in one hand and a shield in the other, few can match him.

Secondly, in addition to the immunity to disease and aging granted to him by his dark lord, Bastian possesses an uncanny regenerative capability. He can survive wounds that would be considered fatal for most men, and given enough years, can even grow back fingers, or even limbs.

Finally, and greatest among all, he has the power to dominate the minds of others. Through the power granted to him by the dark things beyond the realms of men, his voice compels others to obey his commands. This ability does have limits, however: for it to work, the subject must hear him. Additionally, those blessed with unnatural fortitude, or magical protection, can resist his directives.

Flaws

Just as he has three strengths, so too does Bastian have two great weaknesses:

For all his cunning, he is consumed by his own pride and arrogance. He brooks no insult or provocation, and his view of others as inferior beings makes him prone to underestimate his enemies, much to his own misfortune. Often, he acts as if he were a petulant child, sacrificing logical goals to satisfy his own ego. His ambition also leads him to often overreach.

Furthermore, Bastian is in the end but a man, and bleeds like any other. Given a sufficiently severe wound- a blow to the heart, for example, or the removal of his head- he would die in short order. This, in contrast with the more invulnerable followers of the Overlord, sets him out as particularly vulnerable.

Backstory

The great King of Kings was born to the Queen of Edrath, the youngest in a brood of innumerable princes. These were before the days of the Overlord, when good first reigned unchallenged. During his childhood, his kingdom suffered a great many wounds: eternally preyed upon by its neighbors, its castles picked off one by one, it was ravaged by the Dread Wind, a great plague which spread from kingdom to kingdom, killing untold thousands. Though he saw so many die of the horrible pestilence, including three of his siblings, he was remarkably unmoved. All that concerned him, that thought which nagged him day and night, was that he was so far in the line of succession as to have no hope at all of being crowned himself. Resentment grew in him, and he became such a pest for his family that he was eventually exiled from the kingdom entirely.

As he rode away from his home, disgraced and humiliated, he happened upon a cloaked traveler on the road. When asked to share his story, Bastian flew into a rage, and cursed his family, his kingdom, and finally, his gods. The traveler smiled, and offered a compact with the wayward prince. He offered power, power to take what was his by right... in exchange for his eternal soul.

"What are you, some agent of the Overlord?" Bastian asked hesitantly. Word had spread that a dark lord by that title had begun subjugating distant lands under his dark rule, and that the kingdoms were rallying to resist.

"There are powers greater yet, foolish boy," the traveler cackled. "This offer comes to you from dark gods without names, whose existence you cannot even comprehend... but the offer is earnest nonetheless."

When the rogue prince returned to his castle, he stormed the throne room flanked by legions of guards who had sworn utter loyalty to the crown, barging into a session of court completely without warning. He struck down his own mother, the Queen, and turned to the horrified lords, compelling their allegiance... and they obeyed.

Not long thereafter, he made a pact with the Overlord, submitting to his domination in exchange for immortality, and a place above all other men. For black centuries, he established himself as a tyrant, his rule only a pretense for his own satisfaction. He was also the first of the Black Lieutenants to fall, after a widespread rebellion erupted in his lands led by the blessed warrior Kadon. When Bastian met the rebels in battle, he was, humiliatingly, bested in a duel with Kadon, and chained like a common criminal.

It was only through cunning and luck that he escaped, gravely wounded. He had earned the ire of two dark masters then- the Dark Gods, who he had cheated through his achievement of immortality, and the Overlord, who did not forgive him his defeat. Thus, Bastian fled in the wilds, watching as his former master was overthrown, slowly but surely.

And hidden he remained, until that black voice echoed in his head once again...

Opinions

"Oh, you think I'M a monster, do you? A 'psychopath', you say? Friend, let me tell you a little secret: I'm just one of among several. And believe me when I say that they are each crueler, depraved, and boorish than your humble host... Not that you have a choice in believing me, the way I phrased it, do you? Hm. I should be more careful with these kinds of sayings. But I digress."

"Oh, where to start... How about that brute, Ukdur 'Hellhammer'? Really, do you need to know anything more about him than his name? I mean, what kind of peace-loving monk is called Hellhammer? Of course he's an Orc, and of course he's a brute. The beast has no appreciation for the finer things in life, besides killings things. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like snuffing the life of an enemy as much as the next man, but what he does is just butchery for the sake of butchery. A walking animal... That's just it, really. You might as well ask me what I think of my hunting dogs."

"But the others! There's Serikul, that vixen of a spider queen. Quite the freak show. Still, there is a certain beauty to her, I'll give her that. I wonder if we're even anatomically compatible? She never did answer me when I asked her that, aside from melting a few of my servants... Don't give me that look, like you weren't thinking the same thing! Honestly, people are such prudes, 'You can't do that, that's depraved', as if I care what their norms are. Anyway, she always gives me a look of pure venom- probably just a metaphor, but I can't be sure she wasn't actually shooting venom at me- whenever she sees me, the kind of glare that could (and has!) kill a man. I know that deep down she’s madly passionate about me, though. Not that I can blame her."

“And then there’s Uaziezuhr. A priest, if you can believe it! Well, sort of. When you’re a priest to the Dark Gods, you’re somewhat more active than a monk. Don’t even get me started on his choice of profession. I made a deal with those gods myself, and let me tell you, that’s not a bunch I would want to work with on a regular basis. Too much blood, death, and insanity, not enough sex and revelry. But aside from his queer worship, I find the man quite pleasant to be around. His powers are certainly quite the show, and unlike the other thugs I call peers, he isn’t some unlettered peasant. He’s of royal blood, same as me, and it shows. My verdict? I’d dine with the man, but when it comes time to give thanks to the gods for the meal, I would slip away with due expedience.”

"Skraal is also worth a mention, I suppose. A freakish lizardman. Not much to him, really; his single most distinguishable feature- aside from being a goddamn walking lizard!- is that he's old. I mean, I'm old too, but this guy... thing... whatever, he saw the primal jungles of the world when it was first born. No secret there, he can barely shut up about it. He struts around with a wiser-than-thou attitude than makes me want to wear his skin like a cloak. Still, as long as he keeps his jaw firmly locked, he's tolerable enough, I suppose."

"Next would be Phastum, the Lich. A great spellcaster, to be sure. He can raise armies of dead, inspire terror in foes... but without a doubt his most formidable power is his ability to cure insomnia. Death, decay, the world of the living will fall, blah blah blah, it's all so tearfully dull. Our oh-so-mighty master doesn't keep him around for pleasant company, that's for sure. And that's when he does deign to recognize your existence- I swear, that floating corpse is even more arrogant than me."

"Calemvir. A dragon. He's actually quite fun to be around. Oh, sure, the beast's full of itself, but I'm hardly the one to criticize that, am I? The thing is, Calemvir might be the only one of us (besides yours truly) who respects the value of gold. Seriously, all the others, if they found a beautifully crafted gold-silver icon, they'd just snort and toss it into the nearest river, the savages. But Calemvir, ah, he's a true purveyor of all things shiny, and I can respect that. He's also the only other Lieutenant who truly appreciates the joy of ruling others, keeping them crushed beneath your iron heel. So, yes, he IS an overgrown lizard, but an overgrown lizard I'm quite fond of."

Ukdur Hellhammer

Ukdur Hellhammer, First Warchief of the Orc Clans

Race: Orc

Strengths

Of all traits sought after by the Orcs, strength is the greatest - and as the most powerful of his kind, Ukdur's is the greatest. Standing at a remarkable height of 7'8, muscles cover Ukdur's body, the warchief primarily relying on his brute strength in combat, swinging his massive great-axe Bloodfury with a single hand. His strength and size does not slow him down, as dark magics from the Overlord have ensuerd his agility near-equals it, allowing him to move quickly enough to be a formidable opponent in combat.

An average Orc is generally a terrifying sight to the average human, so undoubtedly the strongest of their kind, and their leader, would be a fearsome sight. Ukdur's mere presence inspires fear in his enemies, an incredibly intimidating being, his tenacity, ferocity and unrelenting nature in battle have caused more enemies to flee him, than have fallen by his axe.

While Ukdur wears little to no armour, his skin is naturally tough enough to withstand most attacks from a normal human, a sword likely to scratch him, but not pierce, and in lucky occasions, arrows likely to break on contact with his tough hide. This is not to say he's impervious, however, a strong enough blow will harm him like any other, and enchanted weapons in particular have a way of wounding the Warchief, but he is much tougher than an average person, and even an average Orc.

Orcs are traditionally known for being ruthless, warmongering, and stupid, it is uncommon for any of them to hold any other traits. This is where Ukdur differs from the average Orc. Known for his iron will, Ukdur is unrelenting both in combat, and in any other situation. For years after the fall of the Overlord, Ukdur remained chained in an Elven dungeon, suffering torture and interrogation, his body weakened slowly, but he did not waver, eventually, when his captors believed him finally broken, he surprised them all, breaking free and tearing their bodies apart, escaping to begin the reformation of his clans. He holds no fear, and will never relent.

Weaknesses

Intelligence is not a trait which Orcs are naturally blessed with, and while Ukdur is much smarter than the average Orc clansman, he is still less intelligent than the average human. He can be tricked, outsmarted and lured into traps with great ease, and usually his little more than his own brute strength and tenacity to escape them. While Ukdur is generally the one you want leading your armies in the front line, you may not want him in the war room, making plans.

Ukdur, as an Orc, has an incredible blood-lust. His life is warfare, and he will do anything to get a fight, whether it may be attacking a group of farmers for the hell of it, or deliberately exposing hidden troops to the enemy just for the challenge of seizing a better defended outpost, he thrives on struggle, combat and bloodshed, he's just as likely to start fighting his own clansmen, than the forces of good.

While Ukdur's allegiance is to the Overlord, and he is constantly satisfied with his desire for warfare serving under him, Ukdur as Warchief has the desires and well-being of the Orcish people in mind. He believed the Orcish race to be the strongest in the world, and as such, the most deserving of land, power and wealth. It is possible, however unlikely, that at some point, his loyalty to his people and to his master, may be tested.

Opinions

Bastian - A puny, squishy human, immortal or otherwise. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he was brought down by a mod of angry peasants, but the fact that he went into hiding afterward, if ever I could've held some respect for him as a warrior, that is gone now. Bastian is a wolf without teeth.

Uaziezuhr - Daemon-worshipper, and a magic-user. I suppose he's not really a human any more, at least not a normal one, and it's hard to say if that makes him better or worse. My people hold a sworn hatred for Daemons, and so he and I have butted heads on more than a few occasions. Provided he keeps his nose out of my clans, and sticks that staff of his where it belongs, I don't care.

Serikul - Spider... Lady... Thing... Zombie? I don't actually know what Serikul is, she looks like a spider, but someone told me she used to be a squishy human? How does that- nevermind. She and I have rarely had any trouble, in fact, we got along fairly well before our fall, not the best fighter though. Would've been nice to have some of the spiders in that dungeon helping me escape, but i'll let it slide.

Skrall - The Dragonkin, he was among his kind when Melkor led the clans against them in glorious conquest, and it was Melkor himself who struck the Dragon down. I do not hold any animosity to the Dragonkin, we were essentially victorious after all, and they were excellent opponents. He is a strong warrior, and his hatred for Daemons is something we both agree upon.

Backstory

Born a sickly child to the chief of one of the weaker northern Orc clans, there was little one could really expect of Ukdur, and many of the shamans assumed he would die at a young age, born in the middle of a harsh winter, weak and frail by the standards of their kind. However, through sheer force of will, and a little bit of dark magic, Ukdur managed to survive his young, trying childhood, growing into a powerful warrior in his clan. For the most part, he was an ideal heir to the clan leader, but he did not agree with his father's ideals for peace with the other clans, Ukdur idealized a world with a Unified Orcish Clan, spreading a tide of warfare and destruction over the domains of good. Their arguments over this issue continued for most of Ukdur's life, eventually culminating in a ritual dual, during which Ukdur took his father's life, and his place as clan leader, taking up his father's axe, Bloodfury, as a sign of his rule.

Ukdur's weapon of choice, Bloodfury, originally belonged to Melkor Hellhammer, the great grandfather to Ukdur's grandfather. With it, Melkor led the then-unified Northern clans in a great hunt for the High dragons, at the time, corrupted by demons. At least two dragon brood-mothers fell to the blade, and through its use, and demonic corruption of its own, untold power filled the blade, its blade never dulls, and it itself is essentially indestructible. Bloodfury has been passed down to each Clan leader of the Hellhammer Clan, and since Ukdur's rise to power, serves as the sign of the Warchief.

The first few years of Ukdur's conquest went well, the Northern clans were the weakest of the Orcs, and slowly but surely they began to fall under his banner, the Warchief's strength growing with each individual conquest, but as he began to leave the snow-covered and mountainous north to the plains and grasslands of the southern clans, his conquest was slowed, and eventually halted by another Orc who had held a similar idea to his own, Juk'tek Wolfsword. The war and rivalry between the two Orcish Warchiefs went on for close to two years, until Ukdur was approached by a single human man, clad in black cloaks bearing the mark of the Overlord. He was offered magical forces to help him defeat his rival, and power over all Orcish clans, eternal war, bloodshed and a growing dominion, if only he served the Overlord.

Eagerly, Ukdur accepted, and with the assistance of the Overlord, Ukdur annihilated the Southern clans in the Battle of Blackfire Pass, an event still celebrated at Orcish feasts, and discussed as a point of important world history. Now ruler of the Orcish clans, Ukdur served the Overlord well, his master would point him to a target, and he would lead his clans in glorious conquest, asking little more than the beat of wardrums and the cry of enemies vanquished. The Overlord ensured that none would be able to challenge his loyal Lieutenant's rules, not by changing the ways of Orcish clans, but by using his magic to make Ukdur even stronger, ensuring that no normal Orc could truly defeat the Warchief.

The Second of the Black Lieutenants to fall, Ukdur was brought down by the sly Elven magister Alleivah, who lured the Warchief into a trap alone, and wore him down with illusions and tricks, all the time withering away at the Overlord's enchantments until he could trap Ukdur, teleporting him to the dungeons of the ancient Elven fortress of Hiy'lean, far to the west. For years he remained imprisoned in the fortress, the clans now shattered and returned to their old warring states, until finally he escaped, and returned to the north to reclaim his title.

Once more he begins to rally the cries of the Orc clans, ready and eager to form the iron fist of his old master once more...

Serikul, The Spider Queen



Race:
Undead/Spider

Strong points:
Serikul, being the spider queen, has the ability to rule over all spiders, forcing them to do her bidding. She can move across webbing with no problem at all and she can climb up walls like its nobody's business. She can shoot webs to slow are even harm people.

Before becoming the Spider Queen, Serikul already had the ability of a great dancer and musician, able to entrance people in song, but was a renowned thief of the area. She could break into any building that she wished with a lockpick. Serikul is also handy at dual wielding daggers if she needs to.

Flaws:
While being an incredible dodger in the midst of combat, she cannot take a hit as it will hinder her ability to fight greatly. Fire magic works well against her in driving her back. Serikul is not the strongest so she is a weakling in hand-to-hand combat and she can be driven into a fig of rage if somebody says something wrong to her.

Opinions towards the other Lieutenants:
Serikul is very cooperative towards her peers and will often feel the need to help them out if she finds a reason to. Her feelings towards the others does vary however, with Uaziezuhr are the highest for he was one of the first Lieutenants that she met. Bastian hold her lowest favor because she still holds a hatred towards humans, despite her previous life.

Bastian
He just needs to keep his pathetic mouth AND MIND to himself, I already want to make a trophy of his head. Not to mention he seems rather... attached to me and to be frank; I don't know whether to be flattered, disgusting, or blood thirsty

Uaziezuhr
That man is rather nice. Sure he is typically the dark and brooding type but that can be looked over.

Ukdur
A yes the Orc, I find him to have the typical personality of one. Stubborn, Blood thirsty, dumb... Don't tell him I said that. To be honest he isn't all that bad to be around, only if I could get him to cover up his stink at times.

Skrall
It seems that the dragon may not like me much for whatever reason. Though I do not mind, so long as he does not act like Bastian then I am fine with him.

Phastom
The Lich, hmm, it's hard to say how I feel about him but I do respect him. I am lucky he was around for my, eh, adjustment to being undead. After all he is one as well so we have that much in common. However, I will stick to my spiders and he can stick with his brainless saps.

Calemvir
The dragon is quite the reptilian, he is a sucker for gold which I can find a use in for bribing and such. Not to mention is he an absolute muscle house. I wonder if he would have any intrest in sharing that gold with me...

Backstory:
Serikul was born into the poorer provence of the land and did not have many things to call her own. It was a dreadful first few years of her human life before she found an interest in music and dancing.

The thought of being a musician excited her and she practiced day and night to become the best, regardless if it brought her family any money or not.

One day, as she grew older, she had to perform for some gentleman who she had done wrong to in the past. What did she do? She helped infest the building with spiders from everywhere that she could go. Yet, she still performed for them, knowing that they would want to kill her but they were not given the satisfaction. She had gotten the spiders to come out with her song, killing everyone in the buildin, including her.

However, this was known as 'The Rise of the Spider Queen', as she was brought back to life a few hours later. However, she had a different from now, more arachnid in appearance. She had also found her new abilities with ease and used them to lay waster to the town that she grew up in, finding out that there were large spiders as big as man. It was a glorious day and she but on a show for all of her new spiders. This is when the overlord revealed himself.

She pledged her allegiance to him and went on to enforce fear into everyone who knew of the dreaded Spider Queen and her vendetta against most mortal men. She would go on to lay waste to villages, sabatoge castle defenses with the smaller, more venomous spiders. Afterwards, she merely enforced the law of the land.

After her defeat, however, she retreated to a mountain range and declared her own dominion over the land. Engaging in the disrupting merchants and armies who drew too close to her lands. Then she heard the voice of her master, beckoning for her to fight once more. She happily accepted.

Uaziezuhr

Uaziezuhr, Dark Patriarch of the Dddhacact Assembly.

Race:
Corrupted Human.

Strengths:
Uaziezuhr is an elite spymaster in many respects, with a developed passion and skill in the ways of intrigue. The existence of his cult alone is but an old legend to most, and even then, the existence of a dark patriarch is only a rumor held in disdain all but his four Dark Cardinals: his mysterious hands and will. Through the means of the watchful eyes of his cultists, the talented shadowsingers: the spies and assassins of the cult, and the daemonic dopplegangers summoned by the former, little information evades his elusive grasp; even the likes of nations may come to bend to his will, with his shadowsingers tactfully disposing of councillors and heads of state and replacing them with dopplegangers if he would will it.

Uaziezuhr is incredibly intelligent, having spent well over a human's lifetime as a scholar and de facto political leader. It's not uncommon for him to spend his time away from his eternally rotting throne reading varied tomes and books, or furthering his understanding of magic theory and the dark arts; admittedly, there's little else to do when you're a living myth. As both a mage and a leader, this makes him an adversary not to be underestimated: whilst he normally acts in mysterious and deceitful ways, his battle plans of old during the first reign of the overlord were truly devastating.

Uaziezuhr is one of the most, if not the most potently powerful mage the realm has to offer. For the span of generations, he has been a studying the likes of magic theory and the dark arts, all the while being thoroughly augmented by the will and power of the overlord and daemonic rituals alike. His power extends to the point that not even the mortal plane may contain him: he may walk between hell and the material world through the means of dimensional rifts - effectively functioning as both personal portals and a means to open a gate for masses of daemons to flow and pillage, if he were to ever favor a less methodical method of open warfare.

Uaziezuhr is blessed by the likes of daemons - so much so that he was offered ascension to daemon prince, which he declined as to not potentially displease the Overlord on grounds of possible defection. He often flirts with the beings of hell, and is considered a lord by lesser daemons, a leader by greater daemons, and a peer by daemon princes. As such, he is capable of summoning a wide array of daemons and summoning to his will, and is granted permission to pass unholy rites to select follower so that they may do the same. Additionally, his magical power is multiplied through daemonic means, and his phyiscal form is altered to be strictly functionally speaking, much superior; his build is unnaturally large and he is clad in grand daemonic armor which is merged with his flesh and muscle bar the helmet, which may as well be if it didn't strike him of a number of his senses at this point.

Flaws:
Whilst Uaziezuhr is functionally augmented by the gifts of daemons, he is disfigured and mutilated beyond humanity in practice. His skin is pale and in a permanent state of part rot, he is incapable of growing a hair on his body, his eyes glow a bright and imposing red, his form is unnaturally shaped and figured, and his face permanently bears various hideous scars and other injuries. In his form, he may never walk among his former peers again, and his presence alone would rally Inquisitors and Exorcists of all degrees and origins against him.

As Uaziezuhr's cult revolves around the employ of mages and daemons, anti-mages and exorcists make a naturally effective counter to his will. To be worth more than a meat shield to the cult an initiate requires magic affluence, and the rank-and-file in warfare is filled with demons, a mass mobilization by an Inquisition could easily raze the cult, if not take it out at the roots - himself and his Dark Cardinal's - under the command of a talented Grand Inquisitor.

Uaziezuhr flirts with both the likes of daemons and the overlord, creating a potential conflict of interests for a particular superior. He's welcomed among the court of daemon princes in the planes of hell below, and acts as the forward commander for the interests of hell's lords - all of this on top to his apparently superior commitments to the Overlord, which is easy to draw into question with his known skill in the ways of intrigue.

Opinions:
"My thoughts on the other Lieutenants? Oh-hoh-hoh, you are brave, aren't you? Very well then, I see no harm in it - I would expect my Cardinal's to be on the same level of understanding as me in order to interpret my will.

"Let's begin with... Bastian Wenderuthweiler, the claimant 'Emperor and King of Kings'; such a credit his title pays when he is exiled from his own government: he could not even manage something as petty as a rebellion, let alone had himself stoop down to the level of having to deal with it himself. Even after all that, he allowed himself the humility of living to be chained like a degenerate plebeian. He lacked even a contingency plan - if it weren't for his skills as a swordsman and his uncanny mind control abilities, he wouldn't even be worth the scheme to make him a pawn. But to his credit, he did manage to cheat the dark gods themselves, he is of noble blood - rare enough among the Lieutenants, there has been much time for revision and hindsight in the absence of our Overlord, and his mind control abilities are nothing to be underestimated. I shouldn't be rash, and should reevaluate his value when I meet him again; mass mind control could be useful into gathering sacrifices and subjects for daemonic possession...

"Next... Ah, ugh... The Orc Warchief, Ukdur Hellhammer. Ukdur and I have had our.. differences in the past: he arrogantly lacks appreciation for the finer things in life, such as court and worship. He seems... naturally predisposed against the dark arts and the likes of daemons, which is a shame as his might and the might of the united orc clans is nothing to be underestimated; if only he would come to bend the knee and accept the power of the dark gods, I could bestow such unimaginable power upon him and his clansmen. A ground force of daemonically augmented orcs would have no equal, and under the command of the likes of my dark scholars - the very plane would bend to my will within the year, and he would have his rewards. I should scheme carefully.

"I'm missing someone.. oh dear, how could I ever forget? The pleasant Serikul, the appropriately titled 'Spider Queen'. What a pleasure it is: she's simply wonderful to work with, bends nature itself to her will, and understands the necessities and pleasures of transhumanism, and command over direct combat; like me, she's abandoned her defective body of old and has been reborn superior. She's one of very few worthy of the title of consideration by our overlord. I need not scheme with her - she's a peer and equal, and deserves fair negotiation and trade. With a bit of cooperation, and perhaps a bit of 'dark influence', I can't help but wonder if her brood would make unmatched cavalry...

"Unfortunately, the dragonkin Skrall still lives. By the will of the dark gods he should be dead and his grave rotted and forgotten, but so he lives, with his company of Deathguard at his back. I had briefly considered working with the dragonkin - the dark gods willed the dragonkin's death eons before the rise of our Overlord, and his specialist infantry company would make a fine set piece for the board - but he is ultimately unwilling, and his attitude is nigh unbearable. If it weren't for the blessings of his patron god, I would simply have him assassinated and install a doppleganger in his place, but in the name of our Overlord I shall tolerate him for now. I should scheme carefully so that I may, perhaps, bring his company into the fold. In the case he is as stubborn as he is ancient, then there is an alternative to death available..."

Backstory:
Uaziezuhr, born Levi of the lesser noble house 'Arcenia' of a nondescript dime-a-dozen kingdom, was raised as a mage in a family in which magic had died out 3 generations ago. The family has subject to a bloodline revival effort, where they were provided a female mage by their liege to bear children with; Levi was the only child born of this experiment, and became the hopes and dreams of the house as result. He was expected to grow up to become a court mage for their liege, from which position he could elevate their houses influence and make them a great house once again; as such, he had a rigorous regime of magic studies and the elusive ways of intrigue from a young age. Regardless of how much he tried, he was.. never very good, simply because the magic in the family was barely revived and not given the time to flourish once again, given some genetics and accepting strictly mages as wives for a few generations.

Despite Levi's valiant and relentless efforts, he simply wasn't genetically capable of reaching the standards of a court wizard. He failed in his trials a total of 4 times, where his liege told him that it wasn't worth pursuing. He was borderline excommunicated by his family for his failure, who - by standards of their arrogance - had no choice but to place all faith in his success. This gave him endless determination: determination that would turn him cold and cunning by nature, and drive him stubbornly on even when encountered with total failure. Needless to say it was doomed to fail, but luckily enough, he was offered an alternative: at the mere cost of his soul, he could become one of the greatest mages of his land, and he could make his family not just a great house, but place them on the very throne at the top of the kingdom. Whilst he was reluctant, well educated against the likes of such deals and bargains, his determination left him no choice but accept.

When the court wizard refused to trial him to become his apprentice once again, Levi invoked the right to a duel. The rules were simple: only one spell was permitted, a spell that harmlessly knocked back an opponent, and the first mage to be knocked outside of a large circle lost. Levi, with the dark power of the overlord augmenting him, easily won the duel, much to his lieges surprise. He was controversially accepted as the new Court Acolyte, where he furthered his studies much further and began enacting the will of both his house and the overlord. After the passing of 2 years, in a bid to get more power for the Overlord's upcoming crusade on the world, his master encountered a 'terribly unfortunate accident' and was killed in an abandoned iron ore mine, where he was then named Court Wizard granted the skills to do so.

Enacting the will of his helpless family, having the ability to serve his overlord: the power was blinding for Levi, and he needed more. He began to experiment with the dark arts in secret, starting with the crude blood magic and eventually proceeding to the likes of forbidden ritual magic that allowed interactions with hell and it's residents. Although he was unable to sell his soul to the daemons, this was something of a blessing: some lesser daemons saw him as a much of a monstrosity as they were, and offered to lend him their power in exchange for a suitable sacrifice. His family would fit the bill. His family... oh, the disgusting leeching rats: not even the head of the house had to rely on his son for his status as a noble simply being maintained. They were only holding him back, after all - so conducting a lesser ritual to summon a pact of willing lesser daemons into his family manor so that they may drag them into the planes of hell and torment them for a time to come so that they progress their own careers wouldn't be a problem.

As his power grew, both daemons of hell and the overlord used Levi to more gain. The daemons would come to taste the blood of a King, the overlord gained a Kingdom a doppleganger loyal to his subject installed in a prior King's place, and with the Orc clans united plus another Kingdom brought into the overlord's fold, the realm would begin to fall to the overlord's will. Kingdom's and eventually Empire's would eventually fall, either overwhelmed by daemons and possessed warriors who thirst for blood or their leaders replaced with dopplegangers and their resources added to Levi's powerbase. Greater Daemon's and eventually Daemon Prince's would share their unholy power and secrets through bargains, trades and agreements, and the Overlord would reward his success; so much power, that he became endlessly disfigured to the point he forgot even his name and family, where his affectionate daemonic nickname "Uaziezuhr" - translating approximately to "Lord Summoner" - would act in its stead. In the end, Uaziezuhr became one of the reliable contributing Lieutenant's to the Overlord's cause, aiding to secure his iron rule over the realm for a time.

Uaziezuhr's a smart man(?) - what if the Overlord's reign were to be dismantled by a set of veteran warriors as if it were child's play, or his own powerbase was taken out from under him? Tactfully, he started a cult in the case something disastrous were to pass: the Dddhacact Assembly. He would name himself Dark Patriarch of the Dddhacact Assembly, and after bringing 4 Dark Cardinal's into the fold - talented mages that would become his future will and voice within the order - he would simply vanish, to all but the likes of daemons, the overlord, and his fellow black lieutenants. Uaziezuhr and his Cardinal's established a rigid chain of command consisting entirely of mages through which the cult would be ruled:
- Under the Dark Cardinals is the Dark Prelate, who acts a the 'figurehead' of the cult to the rest of its members. With this, even the existence of the Cardinals would be doubted, let alone the Patriarch.
- Under the Dark Prelate are the Dark Exarchs, generals and leaders of the cult. Generally, they managed operations in great areas of territory such as nations and acted as generals for armies.
- Under the Dark Exarchs are the Dark Archbishops, who acted as regiment commanders and governors.
- Under the Dark Archbishops are the Dark Archpriests, who acted as company commanders and local cult leaders.
Initially, Dark Archbishops acted alone through the ways of intrigue and summoning; they raise and lead companies of demons in battle, and use them to carry out their will. Later, due to the need of more influence and unit diversity, non-mages were entitled to 'enlist' into the cult - even if they were used as little more than pawns and meat shields.
- Dark Bishop's are the non-commissioned officers of the cult, and is the highest a non-mage cultist can be. They ensure the enslited cultists are being managed and are doing their jobs, and are held accountable for their men's failures.
- Dark Priest's are simply initiated members of the cult, and generally blend in to society to gather information and silence any who would oppose the rule of the Overlord or become aware of the cult, and run other miscellaneous tasks such as extortion, rackets, worship, gathering sacrifices, and dying en masse as meat shields.
- Dark Acolyte's are uninitiated recruits, who have yet to pass their trials.

Alas, long after the rule of the overlord was cemented an enforced, Uaziezuhr was the third black lieutenant to fall. A band of pubescent heroes would liberate his governed territory, learn of his contingency when enacted, and then smite the Dark Prelate to rid of the cult from the face of the realm. As far as the world was concerned, the cult was dead and Uaziezuhr had long since had his sins and blasphemous acts catch up to him. Uaziezuhr and his Cardinals retreated to the dense and unwelcoming swamps of the east; their discretion regarding their existence had paid off, and in turn, they could begin to rebuild the cult from the ground up in preparation for the overlord's return.

Skraal, The Eternal Paladin

Race: Dragonkin

Strengths

Skraal is basically immortal in the long run as his patron god brings him back if he ever dies for he is the first paladin of Death, a relation that has been there longer than the human race and that no one knows why it is still there.
Skraal is also a great strategist and economist due to the constant trial and error he has experienced during his extensive lifespan. He has learned from and taught the greatest minds of the world. He knows and has employed every strategy that exists (even inventing several of them)
In his countless amount of time alive he has also learned to master most weapons and come to know all types of magic. However when it comes to the arcane the Dragonkin has preferred to evade it and knows only the basic of every field.
As most Dragonkin (or at least his eternal clan) he can breathe fire if necessary and grow wings on his back that enable him to fly short distances.

Weaknesses

Weaknesses are a very hard thing to find in the eternal paladin but it is evident that outliving gods can make a being insensible and condescending with most. But his biggest personality flaw is one he developed rather recently (recent for his standards) which is attaining wealth, for Skraal believes that if there is one thing in his lifespan that has always being there it is the undeniable power of wealth. Skraal now is obsessed with amassing a vast fortune.

Another and his biggest flaw as life has proven is his vulnerability to assassinations and magic (magical weapons count) Skraal is so confident he never takes care of watching his back to stealth and always underestimates magicians.

“Bastian is very decent with a blade for being so young and I find his presence actually tolerable for being in the company of a great warrior is always welcome but sadly his defeat was pathetic, he disgraced the tittle gifted to us by the Overlord and the expectations I had”

Backstory

Skraal was born in ancient times when the world was mostly tropical and inhabited by giant lizards (Dinosaurs) His kind coexisted with most of these creatures and lived in harmony at a tribal stage while their numbers ruled the earth.

He was born in the golden age for his kind, a time when medicine, society and technology were exponentially growing and the sky was the limit. It was then when disaster struck, the countless volcanoes dotting this tropical earth began exploding all at once as Demons; one of the oldest races after angels woke up. The sky turned to ash and the land slowly started dying as lava and death spread throughout this pre historic world. The timeless demon armies massacred Skraal’s kind in the greatest genocide ever seen. The one sided war was brutal as the ancient evil cleansed the earth in the first apocalypse.

It seemed only the largest flying creatures (what later became known as dragons) would survive thanks to heaven’s protection (both figuratively and literally). Skraal was desperate, his kind had to survive somehow. He renounced his dying pantheon and tried to barter a deal with the lord of heaven but he refused as he had already bowed to protect one race, he then tried to barter with the lord of the demons but was rejected as well.

Prehistoric Dragonkin

With no options left he was prepared to die in the last great city on earth. The nameless city had resisted wave after wave of demons thanks to his brilliance as a leader but its fall was near. Skraal gathered the last forces he could muster while leaving the breeders, young, and best warriors behind and charged into the enemy in a last ditch suicide run. It failed. His pathetic force was brutally torn to pieces by the demons and as he lay with an arm cut off from his torso and that same torso separated from his legs that he realized the only true god was Death.

It was death, the lord of the purgatory to whom he pledged alliance in his final words and it was Death who brought him back like new and gave him an eternal lifespan. Death also sent his city and survivors underground fooling the Demons into believing their apocalypse was over. The brightly colored scales of his people (and his) grew brown and their forms evolved as time passed. When they resurfaced after thousands of years the lush green tropical land he had left burning and filled with demons was now a rocky desert.

Dragonkin at the resurfacing

Up there through their vast and ancient knowledge the now dubbed Dragonkin by the new dominant races (A name they reluctantly accepted as they were still learning the language) began growing and making a vast kingdom. Skraal served as the king of this kingdom for a hundred years until his own kind got tired of his religion and greedy way of life and he was assassinated.

To his surprise Death still remembered his first paladin and brought him back once more. Skraal and his loyalists started a civil war which decimated his kin’s numbers and sent the kingdom into chaos which the elves took advantage of and took over. The Dragonkin scattered through the globe and Skraal had no choice but with his remaining supporters to become an elite mercenary army.

Because of this line of work he died 5 more times. The last of these was tragic as all his company got slaughtered by [someone related to someone’s past] It was then when a young Overlord approached him and offered to bring them back and make them invulnerable to disease and age if he joined him in the first stages of his master plan, Skraal gladly accepted and became his first lieutenant helping the great overlord accomplish his early goals with ease for the Scaled Deathguard is the smallest but most elite fighting force one could get.

Dragonkin now

Skraal was the last to fall, the small kingdom bestowed upon him was the last one the opposition could physically reach and so the Scaled Deathguard fearing for their now longtime leader hurried to intercept them on the outskirts of their master’s land. The guard held the “heroes” back for a whole month but after a Dwarf lord tricked them into battle on a series of underground tunnels the creature sacrificed himself and brought the network crashing down on all of them. Skraal died but was brought back while his forces were unable to die and so remained buried. After some time the Scaled Deathguard slowly managed to stabilize most of the subterranean complex and easily survived down there due to Skraal’s countless years in a similar situation. They trained and became even better, patiently awaiting the right time for the second resurfacing, this time however it didn’t take long…

A quick explanation on how old he is

We invent the fluff as we go so I decided it was best if we changed the distance between the prehistoric era and our own because heck this is a world of magic, so for logic's sake earth suffered its first apocalypse 50,000 years ago and it took it 25,000 years to change geographicaly so in that time underground Skraal and his people were in stasis. They then woke up and lived for 7,000 years down there warring against Drider and other sub-terrenean races before surfacing and living in harmony for another 8,000 years in a great empire. Civil War happened, the empire fell as elves rose and took dominance and the Deathguard was formed as a mercenary group 10,000 years prior to the start of the story. Then the first human cities were built 4,000 years later and a sensible amount of time after that (In the 6,000 years remaining) the overlord contacted Skraal for help in the first steps of building his empire. So to sum up he is 50,000 years old.

Race: Undead(Lich)

Strengths

Lord Phastum’s powers during the Overlords reign were vast and could rival anyones.

Aside from Immortality granted to him by The Overlord, he is greatly skilled in magic, namely death magic. He knew of the powers of the white makes but could never deflect them. He's arguably considered the most dangerous mage ever living.

Through his time studying the arts of magic he also learned of an object called Seeing Glass which allowed to him to see vast distances anywhere in the world.

His final power the strongest of all his might is fear itself. It inspires his own warlords and has caused heros to fall from grace into madness or under his will. This came after his time studying and eventually turning into this undead mage and when people gaze upon it’s true form is horrifying. However when in his truest form he's also his weakest which means he'll only be able to use dark magic.

Flaws

The weaknesses of the lich were few but can cause him serious damage. While sunlight will weaken his powers some he unlike others don’t get hurt and will merely be a nuisance to be him if that.

In his true form while it'll drive weak minded men to madness. Those that can with stand it will have an easier time destroying the lich.

What the hero's used to defeat him was the power of white magic which blinded and confused the lich. However he couldn’t have been killed as aside from the power of the overlords Immortality he also connected his soul to that of necklace hidden in a tomb.

Opinions on Other Black Lieutenants

He has an interested in all of his fellow LTs.

First there was Bastian the human King he felt hated by his people just as the lich was. While he has powers similar to the lich he’s a brute in practice and one that can be easily manipulated especially now seeing as though he was the first to fall

Next there was Ukdur the Brute who he disliked the most as he cared little for knowledge and only destruction though it has served purpose with fear in the past. Easily manipulated and can be a decent ally if needed.

The third to fall was Uaziezuhr and the Lich liked him very much. He mastered the dark arts, began a cult for the overlord and can command demons however he was too loyal and could never be an ally or if they did he would be tricky.

Next was the spider queen who was interesting she used music for power which many people do not think of. Even better she used spiders and like the lich himself was corrupted by darkness. He believes her to be useful. Though she can be annoyed easily.

Finally there was Skraal the dragon who is just another brute but is loyal to the overlord. His mistake is that he is easily weakened by the numerous spells the lich can used and weild.

Backstory

Lord Phastum is an ancient lich from long ago that no one but himself and Overlord knows of. If one could recall the Lich used to be called Jundal the White. He was the youngest of the white mages of his time. However while his colleges focused on their own research and staying away from mortals and interfering with the balance, Jundal left the order to help kingdoms who were hurt or dying. On his travels he met a fair maiden named Lily and they married shortly after. They continued to help the mortal lands as needed until his wife was taken from him. When he brought her to the White council for help they said nothing could be done. He did not believe that,

He knew the White Council disliked him for leaving the order,marrying and interfering with mortals. So he begun studying ancient forms of magic, dark things awaited him. He eventually found a way to bring back the dead. When he chanted the spell it worked and Lily was amongst the living but not alive. She had no color,no emotion and was mindless. This time he had to kill her and end the misery of his love.

He kept care of the tomb and continued studying looking for a way to save her, As the years past he learned more dark power that eventually corrupted him. Eventually he knew his time in the living was nearly over but rather than allowing his love remain alone he found a spell that could keep him tied to the world. This was the tipping point that ended any chance of redemption.

He tied his soul to that of the ring on Lily that she had when the married. Yet when the spell began he lost his soul,skin and other things that made him human except his mind. Which was retained in full. He now had a vendetta against the living and over the years built an army of undead from a mountain fortress in the cold darkness. While he also learned of new magic and spells that he can deflect and use. Eventually the darkness called for him and he answered.

The Darkness now known as the Overlord made the new mage his first Lieutenant and over the years he built an army with more knowledge granted to him while his master gathered followers. However he never had an intention of staying with the Overlord he planned on betraying. Yet there was no one willing to stand up for a long time so he continued researching and building.

Eventually some heros began a quest to slay the Overlord and at first he took no notice of them. It wasn’t until the Dark Lieutenants began to fall that he took notice. One by One they fell eventually he came to them with a deal. They spared him in return for the destruction of his lord. They accepted and he told them.

He waited and when the Overlord fell he wasn’t defeated so the Lich had to appear against the heros and be defeated. He the strongest and oldest of the Black LT’s and was never defeated but merely fled in a “weakened” state. He waited and rebuilt and army until the day his lord called for him.

Calemvir

Calemvir, The Awoken

Race: "Look upon my scales and tell me, am I not an Elder Dragon! You humans and your feeble lives, yours are but a speck in accordance to my own."

Strengths:
"You would have me list my strengths as if I lack some? An insult, and I will remember this!"

A form of most powerful and complex muscle hidden behind black scales. Calemvir boasts a towering strength and size among even his own kin, not to mention the lower races of this realm. To stand before such a being would be folly indeed, for amidst the battlefield deadly claws and teeth, or even a swipe from a bludgeoning tail from such a great beast could spell one's end.

Clad in a skin of black scales, this natural hide of overlapping scales common amongst most dragons, protects Calemvir as if it was a suit of plate without the weight, allowing for a perfect freedom of movement. Unlike many of his kin however, Calemvir's hide has been subject to the direct power of dark magics which even now resides upon his scales with their influence, imbuing them with a resistance to most magics.

A dragon's cunning leaves something to be admired, doubly so in Calemvir who has lived millenia to hone it. As many a hero, adventurer and foe has met their end through the devices and machinations of this dragon as by its claws.

A natural advantage of a dragon is the ability of flight. Large, leathery and bat-like wings protrude from Calemvir's back to his upper thigh which allow for flight and gliding in the air. The beating of these powerful wings show the true splendor and power of a true dragon, though such flight can only be sustained for a time due to the large body mass of any dragon and not indefinitely.

Perhaps the most fearsome trait of a dragon remains with its deadliest weapon, Calemvir's fiery breath promises death. A third lung stores the flammable gases of methane and phosphor which when released with the dragon's breath ignites in contact with the air creating a deadly torrent of flame.

Stuff of legend, is a Dragon's horde, on untold riches do Dragons sit. Calemvir had amassed quite the treasury within his mountain cave which he jealously guarded before his fall. Nevertheless, should it remain the wealth is there and perhaps of use if one was to convince him to part with some of it.

Flaws:
"How dare you puny being, demand of me to speak my flaws, for there are none!"

While a Dragons hide is indeed strong and true, there are however vulnerabilities among it's hide. A lack of strong scale around Calemvir's eyes, underbelly and the inner leathery skin of his wings remain critical locations, which if struck could grievously wound. Calemvir however has with the help of his Goblin slaves mounted a large and jeweled chest-piece across his upper chest to provide some protection for this vulnerability whilst revealing to all his wealth to behold.

A Dragons greed is a well known trait, and in Calemvir it is no less true. For he holds a maddening lust for gold and when it can be acquired, there will be no reasoning and no planning for it will have to be added to the treasure trove immediately.

Mentioned just as much as their greed and treasure troves, is the arrogance of Dragons. Calemvir is of firm belief that Dragons are superior to all races, even his fellow lieutenants whom are powerful indeed, but simply unable to match the splendor of a Dragon. The lesser races distract themselves with paltry ideals and beliefs, Calemvir is firmly above such things

"A man, simply human by all accounts of the word. Bastian Wenderuthweiler while certainly insignificant, never ceases to amuse me with his actions of debauchery and ignorance. The man however, is not completely lacking in his use for he is a fine swordsmen and for some unforeseeable reason owns the gift of control over the baser races, if one was to look beyond his final hours with the Overlord, he might even be called... courageous. Unfortunately, his courage is put to use sating baser, human desires rather than directed in any useful capacity. One must after-all, have courage to court the likes of Serikul - Nevertheless he certainly makes things interesting, perhaps a friendship with such a man might prove fruitful."

"Orcs, far too large and muscle-bound for their own good, it makes them rather inconvenient to eat. I imagine this remains doubly so for Ukdur Hellhammer who stands among the largest of his race. Even if he fails to match the splendor of myself, his ability to make war owes him some due respect. Why the Orc even managed to gather the Orc Clans, with all of their infighting, and make himself their leader. There must be some quality I'm missing here when I look upon the brute, other than that his kin would make fine slaves."

"Serikul, The Queen of Spiders and the amusing object of Bastian's desire. I'm told she was once human, and a thief no less. Hmm, how many such thieves have departed from this realm through my claws?
She certainly has an interesting set of skills and her command over arachnids is rather intriguing, I remember her songs even now. For as long as she knows not where my treasure horde sits, we shall get along amicably."

"Hah, the cultist Uaziezuhr. A connoisseur in dark magics, always dancing with the demons of the abyss. When I look upon such a corrupted being, I see a fool so twisted amongst the darkness in dark pacts and deals that I see no fortunate end for him. Nevertheless, while his sins catch up to him, the cultist has proven himself a schemer among other things. To trust this man would be my folly, to use him though, my boon."

"Ah, the Dragonkin Skrall. If I respected any of the lot, it would certainly be Skrall. Should I believe his tales, I would believe that while my own ancestors flew in the skies, he stood upon the ground fighting demons. Certainly the Dragonkin's imagination deserves some merit for it's wild stories. Nevertheless, he is of draconic origin and as such worthy of any respect I might bestow upon him."

Backstory:
While the Overlord ruled the realm, Calemvir whom had stood loyal by his side since the early years of his rising. Languished in the new found power through his association with his master, he embraced what was clearly his destiny as a god-king over men and their ilk. For naturally, a beast such as he was superior to the tiny, frail, and short-lived beings that would come to worship him. For power equals truth, and a Dragon's power over men was indisputable evidence of his superiority.

For as long as the Overlord stood, Calemvir ruled over his own piece of territory which he ruled with an iron fist. Terrorized and subject to heavy tributes to their ruler, the people's wealth diminished as the Dragons horde grew into abundance. For the longest time, there was no resistance to his regime assured by a Dragon Cult which was formed to worship their new ruler. Naturally, these sympathizers made up of the least morally concerned folk, benefited from the Dragon's laissez faire rule with riches of their own. All they had to do in return was grovel and worship Calemvir whilst enacting his justice and law upon the land.

This would all come to an end however, when the "Heroes" took up arms and marched against the Overlord and his Dark Lieutenants. News of his fellow lieutenant's being defeated, angered Calemvir greatly. These petty lesser races had to be put in their place. Calemvir took flight from his great treasure horde stowed within a large complex of caves within the mountains, to engage the so-called hero that had entered his territory weeks prior. Sir Stanwyck Reeve, the Gallant was the warriors name, and one which would be added to the list of Dragon-slayers.

Calemvir engages Sir Stanwyck

Sweeping down from the skies, came the black Dragon upon the marching formation of Stanwyck's retinue. A loud cry and a gout of flames amidst the tight ranks of soldiers ended the lives of many and announced to all his arrival. A terrain of ash, fire and screams now surrounded the Dragon and his prey, Sir Stanwyck. A long and drawn out battle ensued, there was something terribly, terribly wrong here. This puny man weathered the fiery breath, and failed to show even the slightest sign of fatigue which encumbered all men. Enraged, Calemvir flew into a relentless assault which would be his undoing.

A swift and sudden blade tore its way across his upper chest, blood seeped from the wound endlessly. Suddenly disheartened, Calemvir took to flight as his life blood left his body freely now. His weakening form continued flight laboriously, covering a grand distance before plummeting to the ground far away from that wretch Stanwyck. There, the Dragon bled out upon the brown earth in a valley of evergreen, in his last tormented moments an energy pulsed throughout his form before the darkness reigned supreme. It would be when the Overlord called, when he would awake once more.
