- Kate/Kat: Being the most obvious nicknames to pull from her name, Katelyn went through her middle school and high school going by any variation of Kate or Kat, and though most people seemed used to calling her that she has found it to be a rather boring and redundant pet name.
- Kiki: Given to her by her father. Katelyn loves the name Kiki and often allows her close friends and family members to refer to her as such.
- In professional environments, Katelyn requests that everyone refers to her by her full name.

Standing at a mere 5'4" and weighing just over one hundred and twenty pounds, Kate isn't as imposing as she often wishes she could be. Delicate to a fault and with the grace of a goose she is prone to injuries due to her own clumsiness. Despite often nursing new bruises on her legs, though, Katelyn walks with a straight back and her head held high. Her face is usually kept hidden behind a veil of light make up, though even without the cover up the faintest sense of natural beauty can be seen. Katelyn is decently attractive, with narrow, dark eyes and small lips. Her face itself is heart-shaped and dainty, and it often curls cheerily with playful smiles.

Body wise she is thin and delicate. Though not much of an exerciser, Kat's vegetarian diet keeps her mostly healthy and fit. Due to her weak lungs, however, any extraneous activities can lead to an asthma attack or worse. Her skin, though easily tanned by most summer days, is currently a gentle white, clashing nicely with her dark hair and eyes. The stress of work can often be seen tugging at her face, and dark circles which are normally masked by plenty of concealer may sometimes be seen peeking out from behind her veil. Despite hating them, Katelyn is also the owner of a pair of snarky reading glasses, which she primarily wears while reading over case reports or working by herself.

Katelyn is a sucker for a good pair of shoes. She loves dressing up and looking pretty, going form an array of skirted suits to countless casual, darling little dresses. If not for her frugal nature her closet would be full of countless accessories and outfits.

Personality

Katelyn may be the exact opposite of what most lawyer's are meant to be. While the stereotypical lawyer may be stoic and blood-thirsty, Kate is very much a kind and cheerful soul. Though a burning wish for justice can often be seen in her very vivid expressions, Katelyn considers herself to be a polite and quiet woman, and takes pride in being as courteous and kind as she can possibly be. However, despite her wish to keep things pleasant, Kate will gladly change face to stay afloat in the court room. When pressured or when she feels as though people are not taking her seriously Kate will become something akin to a demon. Her words become biting and cold, and she may even gain a robotic tone just to get her point across. She is an intelligent woman, and those who do not take her seriously are often in danger of receiving one of her killer glares.

Having to put on her stoic front, though, can drain Katelyn mentally, and often times it leaves her feeling kind of depressed or tired. And a tired Katelyn is not a very happy one. She loves to work and often goes days without real rest due to her wish to just continue working. Those who are acquainted with her often complain about how she puts work before everything else, and they are often too correct. Katelyn has been working hard to achieve her potential since she was small, and she has not even thought about slowing down yet. To Kate, if she is without work or if she is not doing work, then she is merely wasting time.

In social situations with new people, Katelyn is often times quiet and a bit shy. She will cling to those she knows well and may stammer or stutter when spoken to casually. While polite, Kat can also be a bit naive and blunt when speaking to those she barely knows. Despite this, Katelyn is very skilled at reading the mood of a situation, and as such she knows when to keep quiet or speak her mind. When it comes to her friends and family she is loving and a bit playful, often coming across as a puppy who just wants to be praised. Though she is mostly seen smiling, Kat is quick to cry in sad or emotional situations, and due to this she is called a crybaby by many of her closer colleagues. When comfortable around people in a casual situation she may appear to be a bit childish or air-headed, but behind that grinning face is a woman who is willing to fight to prove her point.

History

Born to a poor Japanese and Chinese couple, Kate grew up in the cheery downtown area of a simple New Jersey township. Her mother was a strict, caring woman, and was often out of the house working. Watching her mother work so hard as she grew older was rather inspiring to the young Katelyn, who at a young age was already working hard to be the best in her class. Her father, who often took off from his own job to care for Kate, spent most of his days helping her study or playing around with her. Though the family was often separated due to work, they always tried to find time for each other, thus resulting in a healthy, loving family relationship.

In middle school and high school, Kat was known far and wide for being a top student. Due to her extreme measures of studying and working however, she had a meager social standing and often skipped out on events just to stay in and cram. Despite these odds, however, she did manage to make a few pals here and there. Her love for acing was only dwarfed by her love for her friends, and as such she would often take a day or two off of her intense work schedule to maintain her minimal relationships. This pattern continued on during her college life.

After graduating from Harvard, Kate went on to find herself hired by a desperate couple in need of her help. The case, however, seemed to be lost from the very start, and Katelyn ended up losing her first big job. Devastated by the circumstances, she experienced a brief depression and then went on to have trouble find work. With no where else to turn and losing time and money, the young Katelyn Song turned to interning and acting as an associate to pay off her debts and hopefully gain back what little face she had. Eventually, Kate stumbled upon Daniel Carrington, and once he hired her to be his paralegal the rest was history.

Education

Katelyn, after working her butt off in high school, managed to get into Harvard with a slight scholarship. Though obviously it wouldn't pay for her whole experience, she took up the offer and managed to graduate with a LL.B. degree (Bachelor of Laws). However, after graduating Katelyn found it hard to start up her own law firm, and has instead turned to working as an associate or paralegal for many different firms in an effort to both pay off her student loans and gain a name in the business of Law.

Favorite memory

Getting into Harvard and graduating from Harvard might be one of Katelyn's favorite memories. The feeling of joy and relief she had felt is something she has yet to forget.

Least favorite memory

Losing her first case. She feels as though this act was enough to tarnish her name in the world of law for good.

Tiny tidbit, but Song is a Chinese surname (though there is a Korean derivative, but it is less than 2% of the population). Not sure if that little "NBC NOW YOU KNOW" helps or anything, but its the only thing I noticed. I love that Nat will have somebody to talk to that isn't a complete cloud of darkness and despair though.
