Voices tutted as Jen rushed through the door. "Late as always." "She thinks she can just sneak in" chimed another. "Ugly beast with that scar. Even sneaking around she can't hide it." Voices tittered in laughter, amused at the girl's attempts. "Thinks she can can help." On and on, until Jen managed to get far enough in the cave.

"So you know I'm sneaky," Jen murmured to herself as she continued to walk.

Taste

The voices finally ceased their persistent needling. An ominous silence followed. Slowly Jen would become aware of a strange thing. She could taste something odd. It was cold, like ice, chilling her mouth. Not quite like a mint, something different. The taste came and went freely, sometimes stronger than it seemed she could stand, sometimes vanishing to just a whisper of a hint of flavor.

Jen frowned a little.
'What is this?' She thought to herself.

Smell

The awful taste of ash finally vanished but what came next wasn't much better. It was a smell that wasn't hard to place. The smell of burning. Burning hair and flesh to be specific. Perhaps one she was familiar with, but either way the whelming stench seemed to cover every inch of the cave.

The ugly screeching died away and she was left in what could've been a blissful silence. If not for the most peculiar thing she was experiencing. Her mouth tasted like wood chips. Every inch of it. It wasn't very pleasant and would quickly grow to be incredibly annoying. It seemed the cave didn't like her very much

Smell

Finally her sense of taste returned and she regained a feeling of what her mouth was again. Which would have distracted her from noticing what happened next. All trace of smells vanished. No longer could she smell the cold air blowing through the cave, the smell of lichen and small plants, the earthy smell of the cave itself. All utterly vanished. Perhaps her guess as to the inhabitants of the cave was right.

Ixonia was suddenly so overwhelmed by the smell that she did not realize that the taste of burning of burning flesh was replaced by the stench of burning flesh. It was so strong that she actually stood up and got a lantern then proceeded to glance about for signs of a fire anywhere in the area. She was so concerned that she actually called out to hear someone else's voice. There was no sign of anyone else in the cave and there was no room to turn around for the wagon barely fit through the cave. If she wanted to, she could reach out and touch either side of the walls.
It suddenly occurred to her that to panic is the worst thing to do. She must stay calm and remember that this was a test. Maybe a test of her patience or sanity, she was not yet sure but it was a test. Not the real thing. To help ignore the now nauseating smell of stench, she began to sing to Shadow for she to trust The Lore Master. Afterall Mystique had not lied to her before nor did she ever lead her wrong.... Only time will prove true.

As Samuel tasted the cold steel of a blade, he smiled. The cave probably tried to make him feel fear, to make him want to turn around. However, it backfired, and it encouraged him to move on. Samuel wasn't someone to back down from a threat, not even in the slightest. He would face it with honor.

Lance tasted the candy like taste, he wondered what it was supposed to mean. It had been forever since he had tasted peppermint. He blew his breath into his hand but it just smells like breakfast. Lance keeps moving onto the next part of the cave.

The taste vanished away as though it never happened. Then the cave began closing in. The walls got closer and closer and the ceiling was inches away from his head. His limbs felt weak, as though he could barely move them. He became aware of the oppressive weight of the mountain above him, threatening to collapse at any moment. Going through the cave seemed like a worse idea every moment. Perhaps he should go back?

The steel left his mouth, but not peacefully. A tiny slash cut through the back of Samuel's hand. Lightly, it couldn't have been more than a fraction of a centimeter deep, but a tiny drop of blood welled up on it. Then another, crisscrossed it. Every several seconds another cut appeared, lightly stinging, no more than a papercut.

Thankfully the horrid stench vanished. Though not without a replacement, as she was quickly learning. She felt a weak pull on her leg but when she looked there would be nothing there. Almost immediately a finger touch pulled on her arm then dissapaerd. Clawing grasping hands, they pulled at her clothes, her skin, her hair. All with less than the strength of a caterpillar. Barely noticeable before they vanished. Along with the feather touches would come a feeling of heat from each one as though they carried a flame inside them.

Suddenly the cold taste disappeared, replace by the chilling touch of steel at her throat. For just a moment Jen felt heavy breathing behind her, then both sensations vanished. Danger lay in the air, every sense screaming at her to run. Every shadow seemed filled with menace. Time and time again Jen heard the heavy breathing of an unseen attacker, footsteps echoing through the cave. A harsh whistling sound and a she felt wind rush by her and steel kiss her cheek before disappearing. Someone was playing games with her.

Finally the taste left. As did everything else. Before it had been her tounge, now it was her whole body. Though she could sense her body was there moving forward, she couldn't feel it. Her footsteps collided with nothing, her body operated like a machine, not feeling anything around it. It was like she was trapped in a strange world where she could touch things, but feel nothing. Her guess may have been more accurate than she thought.

Jen instinctively dropped down to a crouch, a dagger in her hand. Her eyes darted around the darkness, her breathing steady and calm.

As The Lore Master exited the end of The Tunnel she was once more reminded of the lesson it teaches each person who goes through The Tunnel.
She waits on her new horse with her puppy who struggles to get down. She leaned over to let the puppy on the ground.
“Shadow, stay out of the way of the wagons. I expect them to come through soon.”

Sight

Equal mixes of amusement and malice tinged the air. Flashes of movement swept across her vision. She could practically feel someone laughing at her. Another slice of steel raced past her, nearly hissing with anger, but instead sailing silently. She could see something darting around in the darkness with un-natural speed, but what?

Ixonia simply couldn’t figure out what was going on this time. And it was very annoying to her. She tied the horses to the pummel and picked up Shadow. Quickly she took Shadow inside the wagon where he would be safe. Shadow began to sniff about the cabin as if nothing was going on.
Ixonia realized that she still felt tiny touches of what could be fairies teasing her. But the fairies didn’t have hot touches. She lit a lamp and looked around the area which Shadow thought was a game. Finally Ixonia took a box and lined it with a blanket. She than took the lantern outside to do some searching. There was absolutely nothing for her to feel so it had to be one of those tests. She had to sit it out and thought that these test were nothing but a nuisance.

Gabanre heard voices like it was Lore Master. Coward the voices said. "I AM NO COWARD" Gabanre screamed, when my family house was on fire, i went back in and saved my mom and sister, sadly they died from the fire wounds. He heard Lore Master say but he didn't see her, and thus he went on.

Jens breath had started to pick up, her eyes trying to find this mysterious foe. She was shaking now slightly. Ahed never fought someone this fast.

The voice merely giggled at his outburst but fell silent all the same. Then in the flicker of one moment to the next, Gabanre felt the distinctive taste of blood well up in his mouth, as though he had cut himself on something. Nothing was in his mouth however, except the strange and slightly disconcerting taste that refused to go away no matter what he did.

Sight

The clawing hands vanished, but something arguably far worse came next. She saw the source. Bodies lay sprawled about the cave, flames ravaging their flesh and what bright colored clothing that remained, marking them as gypsies. The hands still grasped for help, but they simply passed through her flesh without any noticeably effect. Their mouths were open in silent screams, begging for help. Flames raged all around but she couldn't feel them, only watch helplessly as the things that used to be people slowly burned to ash.

End

As fast as it came, the presence vanished. Nothing was there. In fact Jen might feel quite silly now, since it was obvious she was alone in the cave. She could even see some light from the end of the cave, just around the corner. It looked like she was finished traversing the cave.

Jen let out a sigh of relief, putting her daggers away and heading for the light.
