The Psychic attacks had hit, but Titania and Gallade only felt minor damage in spite of the latter's nullified resistance to Psychic-type attacks. The Mega Gardevoir broke into laughter while Gallade threw a Shadow Ball at Solrock. "You two will have to do better than that! Titania, Hyper Beam at Lunatone!" Still laughing, Titania raised her right arm at Lunatone and fired a powerful pale pink beam. The beam got its pink tinge from the Mega Gardevoir's Pixilate ability.

"Protect!" Liza ordered. A green shield stopped the beam attack.
"Flamethrower!" Tate called.
"Furry Cutter on Solrock!" Liam called.

Titania had to recharge from her attack while Gallade slashed Solrock for super-effective damage that would add up through consecutive uses. The flames inundated the Mega Gardevoir for some damage, but did not leave a burn.

"Could you give me hand?" Liam asked his partner, hoping Shiranui figured what he meant.
"Furry Cutter on Solrock!"
"Sunny Day!" Bright sunlight flooded the room.
"Protect!" The move failed.

"You got it!" answered Shiranui, understanding Liam's hint, "Titania, use Helping Hand!" The Mega Gardevoir lent some of her power to Gallade to boost the power of his moves and Gallade used the opportunity to slash Solrock with triple the power of his last attack.

The move made a critical hit and KO'd Solrock. Tate recalled it, leaving Liza to fend off the duo of Mega Evolved Psychic types.
"Ice Beam on Gallade!" Gallade was hit by the ice attack, and one arm was frozen solid.

"Titania, Heal Bell!" Titania let off a cyan glow before soothing sound waves of the same colour issued forth. The waves were the right pitch for the ice encasing Gallade's arm to shatter into pieces.

"Thanks." Liam said. "Now, One more Furry Cutter!" This one hit and it hit hard. Lunatone was not knocked out by it however. "Light Screen!" Liza called.

"Titania, Snatch!" Titania waited and when Lunatone conjured its mirror-like shield, the Mega Gardevoir stole it and used its effect to suppress the damage from Lunatone's special attacks instead. Lunatone was left vulnerable.

"Shadow Ball!" Liam called. Gallade conjure the black ball and tossed it toward Lunatone. It hit with an explosion. When the smoke cleared, Lunatone was KO'd
"Lunatone is unable to battle. Gallade and Gardevoir win, the victors are challengers, Liam Coleman of Blackthorn City and Shiranui Tsukiko of Ecqurteak City!" The ref said. Liza recalled her Pokémon. The twins walked forward.


"It can't be helped, you two won."
"So, here take the Mind Badge."
Both twins held one badge out to one of the heroes.
Liam thanked the twins. He turned and praised Gallade and Titania.

Shiranui thanked the twins as well after receiving his badge. "Titania, Gallade, you two deserve some Poké Puffs," he praised. Titania was overjoyed and was looking forward to tucking into the treats.

Gallade was happy to hear it as well. "Let's go back to the Center than." Liam said.

Shiranui nodded and after recalling Titania made his way back to the Pokémon Centre.

Liam did the same with Gallade. Once at the center, Liam placed Gallade's ball in the tray that a Chancey held out for them. Once she had Gardevoir's ball as well, she was going to take them and heal them.

Shiranui gave Titania's Poké Ball to Chansey and after Chansey left he sat down with Liam. "I think we both know what we could be up against in the Sootopolis Gym," he stated.

"Well, it is a water type gym." Liam said.

"And from what I read, Juan has a unique style of battling," continued Shiranui.

'Well, Sceptile and Pikachu would be good additions to put on the team." Liam thought aloud.

[James Davy]

"He'll be expecting you to throw Grass and Electric-type Pokémon against his Water-types," replied Shiranui, knowing by his logic Juan would be expecting Kinoko and Manectric as well.
