name: Thalios
gender: male
godly parents: Phobetor and Nephthys
sphere of control: God of Shadows, nightmares, and death. All that dwell out of the light.
personality: Thalios, a god of death and shadow, but not defined by what he influences. A gentle soul with a caring heart. Thalios is akin to Loki in that he generally causes trouble in the form of nightmares and hysteria to all who wander the streets where he haunts, showing them the death of worlds or the rise of monstrosities and any other traumatic event he can picture.
Though he will plague adults with nightmares powerful enough to kill, he will never inflict such trauma onto a child. Those small children who wander the night are his to lead to the light, a world where he cannot go.
sacred animal: Northern flying squirrel
powers: Thalios can inflict severe dementia and cause hallucinations even in the day, but at night he can force waking thoughts to become horrific nightmares capable of causing real physical pain.
As a god of the nighttime he can freely control living shadows in most any way he can think of, wrapping them around necks or restraining his enemies long enough to invade their minds.
The specialty of Thalios is the ability to deepen the darkness to a point where it is almost like fog, reducing sight in all directions and masking his presence.
weapon(s):
His beloved wand was crafted to resemble his fathers face, while a bladed edge was added for the less efficient ways of ending a life. The crescent shape of the blade houses his essence which serves as a key focus point for his powers. Though he is just as deadly without the staff it is still never far from his grasp.
History: Born of Phobetor and Nephthys deep in the underworld, a child raised in secrecy and peace, he was raised by his fathers hand to break the minds of weak willed mortals and inflict the endless nightmare upon them to feed their realm. His mother encouraged his work, his craft of nightmares was powerful by any standard, but whispered kindness to his ears frequently to spare the young children of the world the cruelty of the night. The shadows claimed all eventually and she promised that sparing them would only feed the nightmare when they became of age.
Thalios became powerful in an alarmingly short period of time as he matured rapidly and wandered from the underworld and his parents to see the mortal worlds for himself.
True to his word he spared the children from the cruelties he must inflict and focused on the worst of mortals with such terror, the sheer power of his presence often killed quicker than his powers did.
Threw that together. Not sure where I was goin' with it but meh. Momma didn't raise no quitter.
