Name:
Jasper of Steelport

Aliases:
None yet

Age:
23

Race:
Elf

Nationality:
Raliven

Religion:
Agnostic, doesn't affiliate with the major religions.

Appearance:
Short brown hair and green eyes. His hair is often messy and choppy, as he doesn't want anyone else to cut his hair. Often prefers to wear leather armor and a hood. Prefers to wear dark green over any other color. He's built thin and tall like most elves, but his right ear is nicked and the tip is missing. He stands at about 5' 5".

Specialty:
Jasper was trained in monster hunting at the academy, though only because it was an easy way to make a profit. He focused more on stealth and knife skills than magic, though he was forced to learn limited healing magic due to his abilities which he insists on not learning about. His talents lay in ambushing enemies and staying hidden. Jasper uses a pair of knives and light armor for his gear. He can also use his fists when necessary, but that works better on humanoids than monsters. He is also skilled in escaping wherever he is held.

Personality:
Jasper is extremely sarcastic, always with a smile and a quip. He's just as likely to try and con you out of all your coin as make jokes while fighting you. He's extremely loyal to his friends, though he tends to alienate anyone he meets through his sarcasm and con man tactics. He's used to operating alone, so working in a group is new, but he isn't opposed to it. Jasper has no attachment to any one church or religion, deciding that the world does not care about how pious you are. Jasper often goes out on his own to do various tasks, making him somewhat unreliable in a team.

Bio:
Born 759 AFS, Jasper was given to the church after being abandoned there. Jasper grew up in the church, and after he turned eight years old, it was discovered that the little elf boy had a talent for magic. They also didn't know that at the time he had a talent for stealing and theft, which he would work on when not required at the church for work. It mostly started as a way to subvert the church and the morals he had grown tired of hearing about. Jasper particularly enjoyed stealing from the rich parishioners who never gave to the tithes box anyway.

The church work Jasper did was mostly cleaning and rewriting old texts, which had always been set on a strict schedule. He very quickly learned how to read and write through it, and when to sneak off from his dumb tasks and how to avoid the priests. He learned how to be small and avoid notice, and most of all, he learned that the priests were just as hypocritical as they sounded when they preached. Jasper decided that letting the priests dictate his life wasn't worth it. Plus, he discovered the reason they were sending him away was that they expected the elf to have magic abilities from the start, and expected the boy to simply go with their plan.

When he began the mage school, he was also informed that he would have to sever his ties to the church, and abandoned all the church's plans for him. So after Jasper said his goodbyes to the church priests he had known all his life, he left the school but stayed in Raliven while stealing from the nobles and occasionally the Chevaliers. He quickly became someone who knew all the ins and outs of the Raliven underground, but decided against working with anyone.

Jasper was bored of Raliven and decided to try and see what Saria had to offer, as it held the big academy and the Arena. He continued to steal in Saria, but decided that he'd attempt something different than stealing, which proved to be hard to figure out. As he wandered, he discovered that the rampant monster problem could easily make some cash and an exciting lifestyle. However, he needed to convince the headmaster he was worth submitting, so he attempted to fight a monster on his own.

Before anything too bad happened, monster slayers stepped in and killed the Demon before Jasper ended up dead. When his plan failed, Jasper decided to try and apply to normal way, but quickly ran into another problem. He needed a last name. He quickly made one up, and submitted it. The headmaster eventually accepted it, somewhat suspicious, but unable to find fault with the 'donation' that had arrived at the same time as the application.

The basic training was boring, and the classes he took only attempted to help him with his magic, which he decided wasn't worth his time or energy. Reading and writing was easy while some of the practical appliaction was passable. When basic training rolled around, his archery was... abysmal. He hit a target once in the entirety of the training.

After four years, Jasper wondered if doing anything more was worth it, but stayed on to fight monsters and whatever they wanted. He passed all his classes, and tried not to let them put him into any advanced magical classes. He instead focused on his stealth and swordsmanship classes, refining his fighting technique from street fighting and punching and kicking to something less full of hoping the other fighter ends up dead.

Jasper stayed on to continue training as an assassin/monster hunter, and while he still didn't really try to apply himself, he still worked at finishing his schooling to hunt monsters. He recently learned that in order to graduate from monster hunting he had to kill a random monster on Saria. He pulled balverine, whatever that is, and is currently working to track one down and kill it.

Eric of Virazeil

Aliases:
None yet

Age:
23

Race:
Human

Nationality:
Lothan

Religion:
Castian

Appearance:

Specialty:
Eric trained in the art of monster hunting and swordsmanship for the majority of his time at the academy. Like all Sarians he has basic knowledge of all the branches of magic though he is completely inept when it comes to healing, enchanting, or dark magic. Eric focuses more on basic wards and low level elemental spells whenever resorting to magic use. He is only capable of using He is however an extremely proficient swordsman that uses a single longsword. Eric wears lighter armor that allows him to move agilely when fighting both monsters and people. Sometimes he also carries an axe or short bow into battle as he is proficient with both weapons.

Personality:
Eric is a sarcastic man who knows that he is a highly skilled individual and is not afraid to share that fact. He is also a slightly selfish man due to his mentor and father figure being an addictive gambler. His biggest dreams are to become a hero like in eh ancient times or the Dark Ages. While he can be selfish and sarcastic he also has a tendency to help those in need. While by no means a hero (and never willing to work for free) he will often take low paying jobs in order to help a peasant in need. He also considers himself a Castian, while not as devoted as some he definitely holds deep respect for the Church and prays every once in a while. Lastly he is quite an intelligent man and a natural leader.

Bio:
Born in the year 758 AFS in the Lothan City of Sauguis to a peasant hunting family, Eric’s mother was killed by a balverine when he was only four years old. Shortly after this his father became addicted to alcohol and beat the young boy for the next five years without mercy. At the age of nine Eric ran away from home and into the Lothan jungles until he found his way to the small town of Virazeil. The local priest, an old man named Brother Pharn took the boy in after catching him trying to steal food from the inn. The priest was a good man though not without his vices, such as his gambling problem and struggle with greed.

For two years the priest taught Eric to read and write while also directing his anger at his father to the beast that killed his mother. From then on he decided that he wanted to hunt monsters and began ‘practicing’ with broomsticks on everything from furniture to other children. Brother Pharn was not thrilled with this because he had hoped to train the boy to be a Priest.

Finally on Eric’ eleventh birthday Pharn brought him to the College of Mages in Raliven so that he could be trained by the mages to hunt monsters. He was however turned away because his magical abilities were deemed as “sub-par,” something that caused the priest to burst into a fit of rage at the Mages calling them fools and hypocrites. This made Pharn an even greater father figure in Eric’s life than before.

Months later Pharn and the young Eric found themselves at the doors of the Sarian Academy where he was accepted within an hour after Grandmaster Florian Serrer heard that the College of Mages had rejected him. In order to be trained Eric had to be left in the hands of the Academy professors meaning that Brother Pharn had to return home. After a heartfelt goodbye Eric was informed that he needed to choose a surname for the Academy records. Due to the fact that he had long since forgotten whatever family name he might have been born with he chose to put ‘Of Virazeil’ after his given name as he now saw the small town as a home.

For the first year of training he was put into basic learning classes along with the rest of the first year apprentices. He excelled in reading and writing while he struggled in the practical applications of magic classes. Eventually he was allowed into basic training classes in which he was a natural at archery (probably due to him being a Lothan) but for whatever reason preferred the feel of a blade in his hands. While still struggling with magic he was able to cast basic warding and elemental spells.

After four years of training at age 15 Eric was allowed to choose his advanced and specialized studies along with the rest of the fourth year apprentices. He quickly chose to focus on monster hunting and swordsmanship. He stayed in remedial magic classes but excelled in every other subject with an extreme interest in the history of the traveling heroes of the first Dark Age.

By the time he was 19 Eric had been training for 8 years and was ready to graduate with the rest of the 8 year students. Instead he decided to stay on to study master monster hunting and swordsman classes with another four years of training. It was around this time that word reached him of Brother Pharn dying of old age. Due to the priest’s high gambling debts he was not able to leave the boy an inheritance. He left the Academy for a month in order to attend the funeral before heading back to complete his master training.

Over the next four years he became the highest qualified swordsman the Academy had ever seen in the forty years of its existence. One of his instructors even stated that Eric was the best swordsman he had ever seen. Currently he is completing his last task in order to graduate from master monster hunting, track down and kill a random monster on the Island of Saria. Ironically enough, he pulled balverine and is assigned with killing one as his very first real taste of combat.

Name: Edward Pierce

Aliases: None

Age: 19

Race: Human

Nationality: Loth

Religion: Castian

Appearance:

Specialty: Edward specializes in the skills of the Paladin order, utilizing heavy plate mail and a sword and shield. His magical capabilities are limited to healing and aid, but he makes up for it with a huge build and incredible strength. His hand to hand combat skills are intermediate but he prefers to keep enemies at a distance with a blade.

Personality: Edward can be quite introverted at times, as he's never had too much social interaction. But he values companionship very highly due to that same reason and would lay down his life to save his comrades. His preferred battle position is out front where he can shield his companions from harm. He harbors a hatred for war and large conflict, the thing that took his father figure from him. He doesn't touch alcohol and takes his fitness very seriously. His favorite way to sleep in curled up in a ball.

Bio: Edward lived a lonely childhood, being the son of a wealthy baron in Loth. As a child his mother often told him stories of Sarian Adventurers, which fueled his nighttime dreams. That was the only time his mother was around, and even that would change eventually as she was a lady of the court. This left Edward alone all day with nothing but his imagination, he'd often play outside and imagine himself as a holy warrior. He became so fixated on the idea in fact, that when he turned eleven he begged the local sword master to teach him how to use a sword. His mother and father only got busier, leaving him more time to spend with his mentor Angelo. He was his apprentice for a span of three years, learning up to intermediate techniques with a blade. But things didn't stay like this, Being a swordsman of Loth Angelo was often called into battle during the war. Many weeks after one such trip Edward received notice that his mentor had died on the battlements, the man he had looked up to as a father figured was gone; and his real father wasn't much to speak of. After many weeks of thinking he reached a decision to apply with the Sarian Academy via letter, and after doing so looked into his father's documents of ships heading to the island. After months of waiting the Academy finally responded, with news of his acceptance. On receiving the letter Edward slipped into the cargo bay of an outbound ship the following night. He didn't leave anything for his family, The only one he cared for was gone.

When the ship finally reached the island Edward cared not for how hungry or smelly he was, and went straight for the school. His enrollment in the Academy went rather smoothly, as he was near top of his classes; save for magic. The only things he could muster were middle of the road healing and aid spells. The instructors told him that his skill set was perfect for a Paladin, exactly as he had imagined himself as a child. The memory of his old mentor kept him going through the trying times of his training, giving him a five year graduation. He was finally ready to forge his own path, and he even made a few friends.
