Character Name: Kilian ”Lockon” Erwan
Age: 29
Race: Terran
Homeworld: Space Colony over the mining world Telion. Telion is a small planet maybe half the size of earth and with hardly any atmosphere it is a dangerous mining planet providing ore, minerals and other materials for the League.

Appearance: Kilian stands about 6'1 and weighs in at 175lbs with shoulder length brown hair and blue eyes. He is of slim build but under his skin you can see muscles as he moves.

Personal History: When he was young, he witnessed the suicide bombing that killed his parents and younger sister. Because of the violent death of his family, he developed a deep hatred on terrorists. While he also desired to change the world for the better, he was fixated by his past and his desire to avenge his family. This event is also what drove him into joining the DefCom as soon as he could. In normal infantry training he quickly stood out with a better score then most others in the shooting exercises, especially when it came to long range shooting. After normal training he went on to the pilot academy where ghe despite his lenght managed to do really well. Not a fighter ace but certainly quite better then average pilot skills. At this time he is no novice in ground or air combat and has seen his fair share of action. He did recieve his nickname Lockon quite early in his pilot career, because when he got you in his sight it was almost impossible to escape him.

Personality: Lockon is actually really easy going and relaxed . Despite his difference with others, he never let it stop him from helping out in times of needs. He looks out for his team, he is fair and yet considerate with other people's feelings. He never criticizes people based on the wrongdoings they had done in the past. When someone is misunderstood, he is the one that tries to let other people, even himself, understand. He's also there for them when they felt doubts or when they expressed their sorrow. Despite admitting he's only nice to women, his kindness evidently reaches out to those around him. While Lockon is kind and considerate, he also has a dark side. When it comes to dealing with terrorists, he lets his judgement get blinded by anger rooted from his traumatic past. Prefering the long distance setup for his rifle because of his excellent marksmanship and fighter he is still a deadly hand to hand fighter. Although not ranking amongst the best in the group.

When it comes to ground combat Kilian likes to have time to establish a good vantage point for a ambush or so he can utilize the long range firepower to it's maximum potential. He is still able to adapt to most circumstances and function as a important member of the group. When in the cockpit he is an expert at using long range firepower and to hit the enemy hard with a barrage of missiles before closing in to closer range.

Gear and Equipment: His standard loadout for when on a mission is the M54 Adaptable Battle Rifle Integrated Sniper System, M8 Kenaz Combat Pistol, Smoke grenades and two M36 Tactical Knives. And of course his own pilot battle suit.
Fighter Customisations:He have had his fighter painted in the colors darkolivegreen and olivedrab.

Optional:
Character Theme:Come fight me in the sky!

(And don't go give me crap about the picture I choose for him now :P )

Character Name: Erien Bellioch

Age: 35

Race: Isorlai

Homeworld: Alcherna, an earth-like world with a comfortable range of climates and a rich biosphere. Primarily used for large-scale farming, forestry and tourism, it is a peaceful place that does not have a massive population, but neither a small one. The world is relatively wealthy, thanks both to it's thriving industries, and also the mining on its' moon and other local worlds in the star system. As such, it suffers occasional problems with pirates and smugglers, despite being more toward the core of League space.

Appearance:

Personal History:
Erien was born on Alcherna, a colony world home to many members of all species of the League. Mainly devoted to agriculture, tourism and recreational purposes, Alcherna was a peaceful place to live, but not an exciting one for a young and growing Isorlai. Like many of her friends of a similar age, she yearned for something more exciting, and was often in trouble for getting into trouble looking for excitement and a thrill.
Around the age of seventeen, after a particularly memorable incident in which she and her group of friends were involved in an incident that resulted in serious injuries and considerable financial loss and damage to a construction project, her parents sent her on a six-month trip to her aunt and uncle on the world of Garadonia.
En route to Garadonia and in the outer reaches of Alcherna's solar system, the liner she was travelling on was attacked by a mercenary group, hired to kidnap the daughter of an important official, also travelling aboard ship. The ship was boarded by a unit of the mercenaries, while their ships and fighters formed a cordon around the vessel. Erien found herself with the VIP's daughter through a set of unlikely circumstances, and managed to keep both of them alive and out of their clutches for long enough that the systems DefCom patrol forces arrived. Watching through the ships' visual sensors and out of windows, she was enthralled as their fighters duelled with the enemy, and the rescue ship arrived.
Once the DefCom forces came aboard, she revealed herself and her now friend to them, and was congratulated for her part in the escape and rescue.
The incident had filled the gap in her life, and from then on, she worked to better herself and do everything she could to fulfil the requirements to enter DefCom academy, with the specific goal of entering one of the Aerospace Combat Squadrons.

On her 18th birthday she enlisted, and met all of the requirements. Taking a scholarship, she attended a college on Garadonia and studied galactic history alongside Astronavigation, getting a respectable, but not outstanding, mark in both subjects. Her proficiencies and performance in her Cadet Classes had been exceptional by comparison, and her achievements in the flying and shooting portions of the Cadet classes had gained her exemplary status.
On her graduation, she enrolled full-time in DefCom, and through sheer hard grit and determination managed to carve out a name for herself, becoming a steadfast, reliable, trustworthy and determined member of DefCom's forces. Initially rejected for a fighter role, she persevered, and after several rejection letters, was called to her CO's office. After an explanation and a reconsideration, she was given her chance. The Isorlai worked hard, and after contributing to resolving a personal situation with one of her fellow pilots was assigned to a front-line combat squadron, the Diamond Snakes.

Erien fell into a good niche with the Diamond Snakes, further cementing her role as a capable and adaptable pilot. She suffered with shyness and finding her feet in the squadron. While she is a capable pilot and a very intuitive one, she frequently second-guessed herself and doubted her own skills and achievements. After a near-critical incident during an operation against a band of smugglers, she had to find a way past this personal issue after it put one of her squad-mates in danger. Spurred on by a combination of harsh words and confidence by her CO, she managed to get a hold on her issues, cementing her position within her unit.

Serving well within her unit on a number of uneventful tours and standard operations for a further four years, it was only when her unit was deployed as part of a small operations group in response to a Dominion of Harsesis incursion into League space against the world of Corallia. The Diamond Snakes were heavily involved in the combat over Corallia. The Dominion attack was heavier than anticipated, the hostile commander being a canny and cunning individual. The Dominion held back a third of their heaviest force until the DefCom battle group were fully engaged and committed to landing forces on the planets' surface. The remaining third jumped into the battle after the Dominion spacefleet lured the ships and fighters beyond lunar orbit, crippling the DefCom vessels with well-aimed heavy cannon barrages. The fighters were forced to pick up the slack, and it was only through ingenious tactics and daring actions, pioneered by Erien, that the DefCom forces gained enough of a foothold to hold the Dominion back long enough for reinforcements to arrive.

Erien suffered injuries in the battle that lead to her left arm being replaced with a prosthetic from the elbow down, along with other serious injuries. Recovery took six months, during which time the Diamond Snakes had been stood down as a result of accumulated casualties from the Corallia battle. Cleared once again for full pilot status, she accepted a position as squadron commander for a planetary militia unit as temporary duty, remaining there for eighteen months, during which the only 'action' she saw were a handful of flights, scrambled to identify vessels with malfunctioning transponders, or as support for search-and-rescue missions.

At the end of her assignment, she was offered the chance to head her own squadron as part of the new stand-up for a new class of battle-carrier. Despite her own recurring doubts and reservations, she accepted and became the commander of the Wylde Fyre squadron.

Personality:
Erien is mostly a confident, charismatic and outgoing individual. Somewhat more accustomed to dealing with other species than many other Isorlai, she tends to be more reserved with her physical contact and emotions than other Isorlai, though sometimes forgets herself when she is excited or otherwise emotionally stimulated.
While she is a consummate professional when it comes to her role as a pilot and operative, and takes her role as a squadron leader very seriously, she does still find herself bothered by self-doubt and issues of confidence on occasion. She believes she lacks the experience and knowledge to lead, but this is not reflected in her evaluations or her performance so far, and her commanding officers have done their best to support her and coax her into believing she is more than capable. She leads with intelligence at most times, and a strong sense of bravery and willingness to take on a challenge at most times, it is only the rare occasion she will falter, when faced with something she cannot understand, or relate to.

On a personal level, like many Isorlai she values loyalty, integrity and trust. She gives the same cautiously, and lends the benefit of the doubt to most people she meets and serves alongside. If her trust is betrayed, her reaction will be a mixture of anger, disappointment and dismissal. She will take a long time to forgive anyone who acts in this way, and will always be on edge around anyone who displays such deceptive and dishonest qualities.
However, to anyone who does display the qualities she admires, along with being open, honest and genuine, she will often seek to form a strong bond of friendship.

Erien enjoys the company of others, although can be shy and a little awkward at first with strangers. Once she is more relaxed, she can often be highly enthusiastic and excitable, especially about subjects she enjoys, or about learning new things - and especially about teaching them to others.
Erien is a voracious consumer of knowledge and information. She loves to read; especially actual books, of which she has a small collection, and reads a wide variety of both fiction and non-fiction. She often tries to apply her knowledge to real life... not always with perfect results.
She is a very good singer, although can be shy about performing, and about her talent for it.
More physical activities she is fond of include archery, which she learned with her mother. She has no awards for the sport, but is nonetheless more than competent at it.

In combat, she is a fast-moving, agile fighter, either in or out of the cockpit. Her knowledge of historical battles and tactics often come into play in battle, using unexpected strategies and battle-plans. Aside from this, she takes careful note of the strengths and weaknesses on the battlefield, and plans and acts accordingly. As an Isorlai, she has great agility and physical strength, and uses this to her advantage, striking fast and fading away, always mobile and never in one place for a long time. Her combat style while in the cockpit reflects this too.

Gear and Equipment:
  • Standard Pilots Suit (Isorlai model)
  • M8 Kenaz sidearm
  • M54 ABR Carbine
  • M36 Tactical Knife
  • M47 Tactical Sword
  • Fragmentation Grenades
  • Smoke Grenades

Like everyone, Erien also carries a toggle. You're also likely to find a book on her person at most times too, if she's not in her flight gear. And even then, it's likely if she's not in the cockpit and flying.

Fighter Customisations:
Erien's fighter is standard colours, aside from a red and blue stripe on all of the fins, and a diagonal one running from the bottom of the cockpit canopy frame, to the bottom of the fuselage.

Character Theme: FIRE THE BASS CANNON

Other Notes:
I imagine her voice sounding more or less like Twilight Sparkle from My Little Pony (whether you like it or not!)

Character Name: James mcloyd
Age: 26
Race: Human
Homeworld: Silver rock Is an planet without an atmosphere and is incredibly hostile to any life. The surface is made out of giant pillars of silver that shoot out of the ground And giant salt beds. The temperature is always at a 100- Celsius And there are winds at speeds of 200 kilometers all around the year. The only reason why people even come near to this planet is because if the ridiculous amount of minerals.
Most population lives in orbit in a giant station. Which is a ring around the whole planet. And there are hundreds of mining colonies down under the surface. Though the way they are constructed is very strange indeed. The way a mining colony is created is by bombing a salt bed creating a deep and enormous crater. Then countless Drop pods full robots lauch into the crater and start making everything ready for the miners. Making small tunnels which will be used as all sorts of things. And making landing platforms for the miners. Then the humans arrive in small tranport ships. These ships dive into the crater and land ( mostly crash land) onto the landing pads. Then the mining can begin. The miners will Start tunneling there way to one of the giant silver pillars and start mining. The ore is then transported back to the mining colony and stored until the gun is made. The gun is a giant piece of artillery that is made in the middle of the crater. The ore will then be loaded into giant shells and shot into space where they will then be picked up by robots and moved towards the station to be refined. The population is mostly made out miners.

Appearance:

Personal History: James was born on the ring of silver rock to a loving mother and father. Even when he was young he wanted to be a miner just as his father. He studied all kind of rocks and couldn't wait till he was 18 to go into his fathers footsteps. He was also a sucker for boxing wining a lot of trophies. And then when he finally turned 18 everything in his life went to crap.

His father decided to go an a year long expedition with his son to a newly build colony. However one of the engines on the descent had a malfunction exploded and they crash landed into the colony. Somehow James and his father survived however they both paid a huge price for it. James father had one of his eyes and a hand. But James had lost both his arms. His father blamed himself for the accident even though James told him it wasn't his fault.

Yet his father still felt like a piece of shit and spend a small fortune to give James Cybernetic arms. Almost bankrupting the entire family. but he always said that it was worth it. He himself however had to mine with one less a hand and a missing eye. However James became very depressed because he couldn't box anymore. Apparently having metal arms meant that he couldn't fight anymore. At least if he didn't wan't to kill anyone. His friends tried to cheer him up.

They did this by renting a space ship and go on a little joy ride. While flying One of James friends who was flying asked if he wanted to give it a shot. And after taking the wheel and flying for a few hours James found his new hobby. Apparently he was really good at flying And so he decided to become a pilot. He passed Piloting school with flying colors and started doing trading runs to support his family.
However in one of these trading runs he was attacked by pirates. Which he took care of realizing that he loved doing it. And with tyhe trading becoming boring he decided to go join the military. Which he once again passed with flying colors.
Personality: James is a real chatterbox and you can always find him in the mes shall talking to someone about whatever he is thinking of at the the moment. Some people call him a real pain in the ass because of this. He is also a little bit of an asshole when on a mission constantly making rude jokes and never shutting the fuck up.

Besides his problems he is a really nice guy all around who is always ready for a good ol fashioned bar fight. To his friends he is always nice but will always give his opinion. James is also very loyal to his friends and supports them when they are in need making annoying comment all the way.

Gear and Equipment:
He mostly wears his pilot suit and has two m8 Kenaz combat pistols on both hips. As for any other fighting? Well lets just say that he lets his fists do the talking.

Fighter Customization: Both wings have a giant red white and blue middle finger on it.

Character Name: Asrial Olarin

Age: 27

Race: Aranok

Homeworld:

Appearance: Standing at 6'7'' Asrial is already an imposing figure, which is doubled by his Aranok heritage. His hide is a dark burnt amber color that fades to a lighter more dusty coloration in a few spots. His eyes are the normal Aranok coloration (that being very dark), but if one looks hard enough it becomes appearent that his left eye is slightly light than his right. On the same side a small pale scar is visible just above his mouth. As for clothing Asrial is a fan of two things, muted colors and tight fitting clothing (which are perhaps callbacks to his growing up on Octanus). This being said he seems best at home in his flight armor, often wearing it whenever possible.

Personal History: Born to "Group 23" (or Grou23 as they came to call themselves) Asrial was raised mainly by the group, all former convicts and their children. Growing up he was never really concerned with who his parents were, though he had some suspicions about a couple of the convicts, on of who was a human who had undergone the genetic treatment necessary to bare a child of a different species. But at his core he was and forever would be a child of Grou23, and he would in all honesty never have it any other way. but growing up on Octanus 5 was never what anyone would call easy, for if it wasn't the land trying to kill you it was one of the many predators, a fact that forced the young Asrial to mature quickly or die. But mature he did, and in doing so he learned to fight, fight those that wished to kill you, fight the planet that only wanted to swallow your bones, and fight the odds that always seemed stacked against you. Even by the time he was 6 the young Aranok knew his way around a knife better than most, and how to gut and prepare sand skitters so their venom glands didn't wind up in your food. By 10 he was joining the hunts for larger pray, the kind that eat you in one bite without an after thought.

But despite all this, despite all the killing and all the forced mental growing up, Asrial found himself looking up at the stars every night. While the others slept, he traced his finger across the stars, drawing his own constellations, his own stellar maps. His wide eyes would track the passage of comets and meteorites as they burned in the sky. He would reach out towards the blinking lights of passing satellites and ships in low orbit, trying to grasp them to join them. But they were always, just out of reach. This nightly ritual did not go unnoticed by many, though none really seemed to mind or care what Asrial did in his free time. At least that was how it appeared until and old female Ellori name Shara came to Asrial one night, bringing with her an offer to teach the now 11 Asrial all she knew about the stars and those who walked among them. An offer Asrial seized with both hands.

As the years went by Asrial grew and learned much from Shara, the proper names for constellations, other systems, and all about DefCom, which quickly became his favorite subject. Luckily it seemed Shara was an inexhaustible source of stories about DefCom, and was happy to share with the young Aranok. This continued until the say of Asrial's 16th birthday, when Grou23 found themselves in Morrisburg for some supplies that had just come down from an orbiting freighter. As they were all picking through the market with what they had to trade, Shara motioned Asrial to follow her. With a raised eyebrow he followed her lead, winding through the town's streets until they came to the landing platform where the transport ship from the freighter sat. Enraptured at what he saw, Asrial began to look over the craft with a sense of glee as his teacher explained the different parts to him. Asrial was so enraptured by the craft he didn't notice the smiling man approaching them. When he did he just about jumped five feet out of surprise, much to both the human's and Shara's enjoyment. After everyone had calmed down the man introduced himself as Johan and whet into an obviously rehearsed description of exactly Asrial's duties would be aboard the freighter.

After only a few sentences Asrial stopped him with a confused look and no idea what was happening. Johan looked confused himself for a moment and made a side glance towards Shara with one of his eye brows raised. Shara looked a bit sheepish and turned to Asrial, quietly explaining that the group made an unexpected amount for the hides it brought to this years market and were at a loss of what to do with it. So she had quietly suggested that they use it to help Asrial fulfill his dreams, to give a child of prisoners a freedom he would never find here. And in a surprising move they agreed, using the money to finance part of the cost for passage to a trade hub, with the rest of the cost being paid by his work aboard the ship.

With tear filled eyes Asrial embraced Shara and thanked her profusely before she slowly pushed him away. With her own eyes full of tears she told him that his things were already aboard the ship, and that it was waiting for him. A torn feeling suddenly sprang up in Asrials breast, but was assuaged by the smile that Shara gave him, but still he seemed hesitant to go his steps faltering slightly. As if sensing this discomfort Shara reached out and lightly pushed him towards the craft. Swallowing his discomfort Asrial listened to his old teacher one final time and boarded the ship. Turning one last time to see that the rest of the group had filtered out of the market and were all standing at the base of the pad, smiling and waving.

As the ship lifted of Asrial found his seat and his things in a rough travel bag. Opening it he found everything he expected, and one thing he did not. A large dagger in a rough leather sheath (which was embroidered with a rough 23 on the side). Pulling it out he found that the dagger itself was made of a Ka-Kal (a large sand burrowing predictor that has rock hard bones) bone and bore a carving of three spheres. With a melancholy smile he put it back into its sheathe and put that back into his bag as the transport was reaching the freighter.

After a short time on the freighter Asrial reached the trade hub and was offered a position aboard the freighter, which he agreed to as he honestly had no idea where to go. The work was alright and he enjoyed it, over time he was even taught how to pilot the transport ships, as well as the smaller cargo loading ships. He practiced and practiced on these smaller craft, soon earning himself a job as one of the crew's full time pilots. He would stay with the freighter until some time after his 20th birthday, where he would find himself on one of the fringe trade hubs, getting some shore leave with the other members of the crew when he overheard some recruits from the local DefCom instillation talking about a few of their recent sorties. With a twinge of nostalgia, Asrial's mind jumped back to his teaching under Shara and her endless stories. Grinning and taking a swallow of his drink he turned to one of his comrades from the freighter and asked in quite simple terms "where do I find the DefCom recruiter?"

After that he enlisted, initially entering the ground forces as his background and natural strengths found him more in tune with the ground pounders than the navy. But that didn't stop him from sneaking into the on base simulators after hours to try his hand at them. Which was all well and good until a few months into it he beat the simulation with flying colors, which then in turn meant that his success was recorded in the servers, and those in charge finding out about his nightly self training.

One short disciplinary hearing later and Asrial was certain they were kicking him out. A feeling that was reinforced by all of his stuff missing from his bunk, and the Lt that stood next to it with a very serious look on his face. Sighing Asrial walked forward to be given the bad news, when much to his surprise the Lt informed him that all of his things were simply moved and that he was being reassigned to pilot's school. Not quite the punishment that Asrial had in mind, but one he would take with a big grin on his face.

After training he was assigned to Warlock Squadron, where his 'unorthodox' approach to combat drew the questioning eye of a couple higher ups, yet for all of their questioning all had to admit that Asrial was brutally effective. Still after a time another squadron, the Titan Killers, began to grow low on numbers, and so Asrial being the junior was transferred. After flying with them for a couple years, Asrial received word that he was being sent to the newly created Wylde Fyre squadron. Which oddly enough he found to be and exciting change...

Personality: On the outside Asrial shares the gruff, surliness of his race. Snarling at the most minor problem, toying his claws if he feels bored and the ever present distrust of new people. But after one gets to know him, and learns the subtle tells that shows Asrial to be what he really is, which is a quiet, caring, inquisitive individual who will follow those he deems as friends to whatever end.

In combat he is a brutal hunter, singling out targets and engaging them with exacting efficiency to create holes and havoc among the enemy ranks. On the ground he is just as exacting, but he can and has turned into a berserk attacker if he feels the need arises.

Finally his greatest weakness is caramel drizzled brownies. Perhaps a product of both never being exposed to them before and his natural tendency to gorge on sweet things, he cannot resist over eating the things. In fact if they are present it is not uncommon to find him the next morning half passed out in bed with chocolate and caramel smeared around his mouth, after which he usually proceeds to vomit as his body violently reacts to the sugar heavy food.

Gear and Equipment:

-Flight armor w/ closed helmet (Aranok variant)
-Bone dagger
-M29 Combat Shotgun
-M8 Kenaz sidearm
-first aid/trauma kit

Fighter Customisations: He has named his Saber Hierophant, and has painted the three orb symbol found on his dagger on the tips of both wings. On the nose he has a snarling maw akin to the fighters of a bygone era, only with a deep amber color instead of the normal red.

Character Name: Elik Hel'kayik

Age: 27

Race: Aranok

Homeworld: Spacer.

Appearance:

Personal History: Elik was born and raised on a starship, as expected from someone that lives on a ship he is a fairly good engineer having been taught by the crew. The ship's crew were Nomads usually wandering the outskirts of league space but occasionally they would be hired by the league to aid in exploratory expeditions. Elik learned to fly some of the ships used to go down to the surface when they were gathering resources or salvage, even some small fighters used to fend off pirates. Eventually they were approached by a DefCom captain about another exploratory mission. During the expedition this Captain, A Captain Wayland Hayle, was impressed with his technical aptitude and offered him a place in his crew, which Elik gladly accepted. Rather than bring him through the academy however, Hayle called in a favor and had a few records changed, Making Elik a pilot under his command.

Elik served on Hayle's ship for sometime until he received a transfer order to a squad known as "Wylde Fyre". In order to avoid suspicion he went along with the order. In the time before he arrived Hayle provided him with some files on some of the squad's known members. He found himself attracted to the squad's leader and upon seeing that a hobby of her's was archery, and looking it up to see what it was, he decided to give it a try himself. He found he enjoyed it and would practice whenever he could in the few months it took to get to the Heart of Valour, even designing a bow for field use.

Personality: Elik is carefree and friendly but a bit of an odd one, he rarely observes the formalities of ranks within the DefCom navy and can sometimes be found in strange places, not attempting to hide rather simply being there, he was once found taking a nap in an air vent. While he does fine aboard ships, when he is in a large crowded area he will get nervous and quiet and may move closer to a friend for comfort. if he is left alone in a crowd of people that are strangers to him he might panic.

He seems to have a thing for Erien, often referring to the squad leader as "Fluffles" and finding ways to sneak into her quarters. the latter he does for two reasons: 1.) The bed in there is insanely soft and 2.) It smells like her, it's a plus for him.

Gear and Equipment:
  • Modified Aranok flight suit
  • M54 ABR
  • M8 Kenaz Sidearm
  • M47 TacSword
  • Custom collapsing bow - Something of Elik's own design, This bow can collapse down to allow for easy stowage and carry. Fully collapsed it can hold 8 arrows with it, due to this limitation he uses it more for recreation than combat

Character Name: Fendric Masaryk
Age: 24
Race: Terran

Homeworld: Twilight, a dense planet with a vast underground network of cavern-cities converted from a long-defunct corporate mining complex. Much of the necessity in building underground, besides pure convenience on account of those mining operations, comes from the fact that Twilight is tidally locked, with nearly the whole planet either too hot or too cold to support any but the most specialized or microscopic life. Above-ground cities do exist, but they are small and form a line that follows the dusk/dawn line. The cities are also mounted on massive tracked vehicles with open deck areas of tens of square kilometers. The mobile underworks of the city exists to adjust the city's precise location in accordance with the minute, seasonal, changes to the Dusk-Dawn Line to match the planet's orbital wobble.

These crawler-cities are archaic leftovers from the corporate mining operations. Construction of new crawler-cities was decided to be cost-prohibitive, hence the population shift into the mines. The cities, however, do not lack for spare parts as there is a massive industry built solely around the construction of machinery for these devices. The industrialization has also made Twilight to be something of a regional leader for mid-quality heavy industrial machinery of all sorts, with a small ship-building industry. Most of the planet's military hardware is imported, but it does export military components, like navigation computers, fuel tanks, ammunition, and various other mechanical parts.

The planet's geography is pretty average, quite solid with massive polar ice flats which created a thin, but breathable, atmosphere thanks to sublimation. Liquid water is uncommon in all but the deepest, warmest, parts of the cave systems. Due to the ice, water, standard liquid rocket propellant (liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen) is a major export as well, sold mainly to frontier worlds where they launch rockets to massive orbital stockyards that connect them to the galactic market.

Appearance: Having lived underground for most of his life, Fendric is quite pale, almost ashen in complexion, with sandy blond hair and reddish eyes adapted slightly for low-light conditions. He's a small, straight, nose, his lips tight and serious, giving him a perpetual look of serious contemplation or even disapproval. Clean-shaven, he wears his hair just over an inch in length, styled in no particular way. His physical shape matches that of pilots of old, short and stocky. 5'7", 180 pounds.

Personal History: His life prior to joining up with the League's armed forces was pretty run of the mill and uninteresting for any cavern-raised citizen of Twilight. Not a lot of space, too little light, it all grated on the young Fendric before he left the planet. When he put in his requests at the recruitment station, he insisted on going into the aerospace track, simply because he knew if he went into the infantry, he'd be liable to be thrown into some urban garrison, doing nothing. And the navy was too confining as well, in its own way. Sure, cockpits were even more cramped, but at least there was a lot more freedom of movement. In an aerospace vehicle, he at least chose where he'd go. In a ship, he had no control.

He went off to the Dorset Aerospace Academy on the planet Cornubia.

Fresh out of flight school, he served 9 months in a YSS-1001 with a DefCom System Defense Force, flying out of an orbital defense station that sat at a geosynchronous polar orbit high over the main settled planet in the system. This instilled in him an interest in electronic warfare. Flying as a back-seater was a frustrating experience for the man however, since he never felt at ease, without active, constant, control over his craft's movements.

At the end of his 9 months with the System Defense Force, he put in for a transfer, where his qualifications in the YSS-1001 were an asset, put onto a picket carrier that hunted down the undesirable, criminal, resistance to the League. He mostly flew interdiction and anti-smuggling patrols, to great effect, but he hated that feeling on the back of his head, that sense that his RWO was silently judging his every single action.

When transferred to 122 Expeditionary Aerospace Combat Squadron, Fendric finally got a change to fly his own ship. It was nice to now be in the front seat, and to be up there without a nagging RWO in his ears. He's been with them for about a year. Now here, he's looking to tray and modify his AI system to serve as a more effective Electronics Warfare platform. He's also currently examining hte feasibility to modify the dorsal payload bay, to remove the tube launchers and replace them with an EW pod, to ensure his ship conforms with the tube-launcher dimensions.

That modification is still a work in progress, however.

Personality: Fendric loves his tobacco, his drink, and just doing whatever he feels like. He's a pilot's pilot, as it were, with a bit of an attitude, preferring to work on hs machine himself, treating it with the sort of care due to a child. His idea of relaxation, when not drinking or smoking, is reading AARs, theory books, and spending time in the simulators, putting the lessons posited in the texts to practical use.

Despite his business-first mindset for free time, he loves spending time when possible with his comrades, knowing full well that trust, friendship, and morale were the keys to an effective unit.

Gear and Equipment:
  • Pilot's Battle Suit
  • M54 Adaptable Combat Rifle in Carbine configuration for ground operations.
  • M8 Sidearm (all times)
  • M36 Tactical Knife
  • M12 PDW in the ejection capsule's emergency locker.
  • Comms suite (rucksack, ground ops only)

Character Name:
Nyx Miles

Age:
26

Race:
Terran

Homeworld:
Borlix, the world that can easily be described as a 'junkyard with an atmosphere'. Most planets often send junk or wrecked ships here to be recycled and broken down into spare parts. Where there isn't a junked ship or garbage it is a desert. It's a fairly large planet run by one person, who 'adopts' orphans and puts them to work on anything they can get their hands on. It also from time to time supplies parts to various ships.

Appearance:

Personal History:
Nyx's family died while serving DefCom, and as a result she was put up for adoption when she was no older than six years old. She lived with a few different families, but ultimately ended up on Borlix. The young Nyx didn't understand why she was trapped on this dead end world, but she decided to make the best of what she had. She decided to try and study the parts and materials she worked with each day, and eventually became a part of the small crew in charge of installing parts into ships that passed by the planet by age fifteen. She still worked to recycle with the other children, but was given more leeway to slack off due to her increased importance.

When she wasn't required to work, she often watched the sky, because without light pollution from any kind of proper cityscape, she could make out every star and comet in the night sky and the brilliant moons of Borlix during the day. She dreamed about going up into space and escaping the day to day of Borlix. So she decided to hitch a ride on the next transport that showed up for repairs. It was about three years later when one was desperate enough to pay for the replacement part.

She hid on the DefCom ship, managing to hide until it was far enough away from the planet the returning her would end up being more of an annoyance than anything else. She was found after a crewman was checking the cargo bay to make sure that they were still prepared for their mission.

She was deemed a civilian on the ship and told to wait until after their mission for her fate to be decided. As she watched the fighters dance in space and the operation be carried out, Nyx decided then and there to join DefCom. Shortly after being dropped off on a League planet, she enlisted and met the requirements.

In the academy she became known for her piloting and engineering skills. She could fix and fly a ship just as well as anyone, though she tended towards tricks and silly antics, thus having her be shot down from taking any sort of piloting role. She served on one ship as an engineer, and during a surprise attack, she went against orders and piloted a ship of a pilot who had fallen ill.

Her actions carried the day, but the captain was conflicted on whether or not to court martial Nyx over her actions and going against her orders. In the end, he decided to recommend her for the new fighter squadron, Wylde Fyre. She was accepted as a pilot, and this is her first time being in a squad.

Personality:
She prefers to work on her own plane, liking to know what parts go into it and altering how it feels on her own. She takes pride in her ship, as it's her first time being trusted with a plane of her very own. Nyx is very intelligent, but lacking in knowledge when it comes to formations and strategy. She's a very skilled pilot in her own right, however, capable of handling her ship in whatever the universe throws at her.

Nyx has a tendency to carry around food. From places that people don't understand how she managed to take it. She tends to force people to eat if she doesn't see them eat in a few days, often going so far as stealing food from the cafeteria to feed people. She's still a little new to the idea of free food for everyone.

Nyx also wears her goggles at all times, even when she sleeps. Nyx also loves visiting new worlds and seeing what the universe has to offer. However, just as the cat, her curiosity also manages to get her into a lot of trouble.

She tends to joke a lot in fights, when relaxing, and pretty much any time she wants to make a joke. She also likes to have fun on missions, stating that 'even if she's a part of the military, she's going to have fun with it'.

Gear and Equipment:
  • Standard Pilots Suit (Teran model, painted red)
  • M8 Kenaz sidearm
  • M54 ABR Carbine
  • M36 Tactical Knife
  • Smoke Grenades
  • Thermal Vision Goggles (usually around neck)
  • Toolbag
  • Varying amounts of food (not regulation, usually stolen)

Fighter Customisations:
A red handprint on the underneath of the cockpit and teeth painted on all of the engines.

Character Name: Gurjan Wallon
Age: 28 years
Race: Isorlai
Homeworld: Merros, an inhospitable planetoid that nevertheless houses a small population of miners to extract the large local deposits of high-quality metal ores. Government control is rather tenous, and most in-system security is handled by the local branch of the company that finances the mining colony. Though the security force was rather lacking in resources and quite often prioritized smooth mining operation over civil service.
Appearance: At first glance, Gurjan is your typical Isorlai Specimen, thick fur, imposing six foot three physique, claws, teeth, etc... However, there is a certain hollowness to his posture that anyone even remotely familiar with Isorlai would recognize as unusual. He has quite an impressive collection of scars on his body, mostly consisting of bite marks and claw wounds. His hair is not all that curled or braided, save for the rather necesarry stripe pattern on the upper arms.
Personal History: His parents both came to merros with the original wave of colonists. His youth was quite boring. The cramped hallways and living spaces of a mining quality are hardly good For an Isorlai growing up. To occupy his restless mind, he began hanging out with other similiarly bored youngsters. The feeling claustrophobia and entrapment on the colony only grew with the years, but moving away was not an option due to the draconic employment contracts that all the colonists had signed up for.

This frustration soon evolved into deliquency and petty criminal behaviour. Vandalism and civil disobedience became a hobby, and tension with his family over this only pushed him deeper. He became involved with a more hardened criminal element in the colony's underground, first as a mere errand runner, but soon quite up to his neck in the whole business. It was all a rather dark phase of his life filled with violence. Rather predictably, the entire thing was ended by a stint with hunter's moon, an ill-adivsed illegal street fight, and waking up in a hospital.

As other cases much like his own had boiled up all over the place, the local crime problems became rather hard to sweep under the rug. Combined with complaints about working conditions from the miners, the comapny was subjected to a federal investigation and found guilty of exploitative labor practices and similiar offences. All assets were seized and the facility was abandoned. The day he took the shuttle off-planet and saw the blight of his youth being bulldozed down felt like a weight of years falling off of his shoulders.

Of course, there was still his crimes to answer for, and a family that had grown quite estranged from in the whole ordeal. As he was still quite young at this time, he was assigned to a youth correctional facility where he stayed a few more years before being declared a reformed young adult. He drifted about for some time, rather unsure what to do with his newfound freedom.

Eventually, he found himself signing up to be a defcom figther pilot. Motivated by his memories of fighting... and how it had felt strangely comforting to him back then. Gurjan took quite well to army life, perhaps due to the control and clear purpose it brought. Boot camp was quite a learning experience. Whatever softness he had left was stamped out and replaced with discipline and tenacity.

After quite a few years of training, Gurjan was assigned to the Heart of valour battle-carrier as a newly assigned pilot.

Personality: Gurjan is a contempletative and quiet person. He prefers to speak with little pleasantries or complicated words. He is generally respectful and good to get along with, but he has no qualms about speaking his mind when he strongly disagrees with something.

M36 tactical knife

Character Name: Nicholas “shade” Cavernmaw
Age: 25
Race: Isorlai
Homeworld: Space born, Scapus
Appearance: https://36.media.tumblr.com/923788c181b223c80c246d84ea708e3c/tumblr_n6quiwEUp51sefjsro1_500.jpg

Personal History: Born aboard a merchant vessel, and constantly traveling, nick never really knew a home world, the closest thing was his family’s main trade hub, Scapus. His parents, worried for bone atrophy, kept him planeside as much as they could, and actively training when he couldn’t. Acting as an extra ship hand since he could follow his parents, he gained a keen special awareness, the ability to mingle with vastly differentiated groups, and a love for the last frontier. Despite being mobile, his schooling didn’t really suffer, and while he isn’t a math major, nor scholar, he knows enough to get by. His interest in DefCom came after reports of colony’s going silent, and ships going dark after jumps. Initially just curiosity, it wasn’t until a rival trade ship returned from a jump with punctures and rents that it all sunk home. You don’t blast clear through the cargo bay to pillage it. Something was very wrong.
A few years later, nick was enlisted and training. Scoring high both intellectually and physically, nick chose to apply for service space side, but first had to complete basic training. During basic, nick showed high promise in evasion and infiltration, becoming one of the best scouts in his group. By utilizing his predatory instincts, and a few tricks, Nick was able to avoid detection, and became one of the few ever to steal the drill instructor’s campaign cover and whistle during his time as a recruit. That event earned him the nickname “shade”, and a week of dawn and dusk perimeter runs, though to be honest, falling in wearing the hat, and blowing a whistle may not have been the best plan. However, during this training, Nick was involved in a training incident, which landed his sparring partner in the ICU for a week. Having failed a grapple, nick accidently slashed the recruit’s brachial artery. While he did help keep the pressure and stabilize the wound, the other recruits distanced themselves from him and rumors that it was a bloodlust event permeated the base.
This lead to a subconscious paranoia that he might injure smaller teammates, and his focus on proving himself capable of piloting space craft. His early life as a merchant kid helped a lot with low or non-gravity engagements, and plotting courses was second nature. It took all the instructors had to stump him, and his only real problem came from actually piloting the spacecraft. Used to lumbering cargo ships, the high maneuverability fighter craft had him darting to and fro before he finally reigned it in and began to shine. In a years’ time he went from student flier, to more than capable pilot, preferring to hit and run tactics then dogfights.
His training completed, and fully enlisted into DefCom, he found himself joining the crew of the Wylde Fyre squadron

Personality: Perfectly fine to remain quiet, and observe, he is the first one to jump in during a crisis. While he does generally trust most people, those that have earned his friendship will rarely find such loyalty elsewhere. More likely found in fatigue pants and a t-shirt then his uniform

Gear and Equipment:
Standard issue pilot suit.
M54 Carbine, with IR laser, silencer, and midrange scope.
M8 Combat Pistol, with silencer.
M47 and M36 Tactical Blades.
x2 Flashbangs
x2 Smoke Grenades
