@Blue DemonAs he has said, you dont have to be a junker/diver. I am making a airship piolet that will go to ground too. I dont think you have to, again, I am not having magic just lots of cool gadgest and maybe some magic equpiment, the mechanical limbs is a way of saying "You cant have magic and metal limbs". Demonology, No fucking clue
Yup, gonna have my character non-magic too, he's gonna be a machinist who can create a lot of battlefield traps and support gadgets using A/B. Us normals gotta stick together!
I hope you enjoy Ebenezer as much as I enjoyed writing him. :D

He has fair skin from spending lots of time indoors. He typically dressed in a suit or work casual. He always wears long sleeves, gloves, and a scarf to cover as much skin as possible. Under the clothes are carved symbols in his skin. Most appear to be nonsense, but others are arcane symbols found in the uncharted places in the world.
Personality: Most people say Ebenezer is crazy. Despite his sane appearance he has been known to mumble to himself about demons and to talk to nothing. He is a very secretive person and tends to lie a lot. Each time he tells a story it changes just a little. The common opinion is that nothing he says it true. Which leads into his paranoia, he claims Demons are after him. He also claims he has a Demon enslaved to his will that travels with him. Of course no one has ever seen it. Despite this Ebenezer is a very likable man. He's witty and pleasant conversationalist.
History: Each story he tells of his past changes. But a few details do always remain the same in every telling. It always starts with death and demons.
When I was young, just a little boy, my family was killed by demons. They came during the night. I still remember hearing my parents scream. I shared a room with my brother, despite the fact my parents were extremely wealthy. When the screaming started I panicked, crawled under my bed and hid.
My brother was always braver than I. He as three years older than me and my protector. He didn't hide as I did, despite my please for him not to go. When he left the room I cried, even as my parents stopped screaming. The silence afterwards was oppressive. I nearly almost wished for the screaming to come back. It must have given my brother pause too for he lingered at the door.
After what seemed like an eternity I could finally hear his foot steps tread down the hallway, bare feet on wood. I hid my head in my arms and wept for my brother, sure that he would die.
The silence stretched, then I too heard him scream. Thankfully his was short lived. I huddled even further under my bed when I heard a strange noise. It wasn't the sound of feet, or boots. It was a strange scratching noise and the sound of something heavy being dragged. I didn't dare look, couldn't, for I was frozen in fear as the noise grew closer and closer to my bedroom door.
I prayed, for the first time in my life, that I might be spared.
It must have worked for the thing snuffed at my door before moving onto my sister's room. I don't remember them screaming, nor the rest of the night. When the servants rose to get the house ready in the morn, they discovered my family. And the blood. It took them two days to even realize I had hid in my room and was still alive...

Hey, I encourage worldbuildin' and abilities outside the norm. My manta is 'anything is possible, but everything can be explained' so I'm happy to see something as interesting as Demonology becoming a prospect.
Anyways, let's get this show on the road:

I hope to see you expand upon these arcane symbols in the future. They must have some meaning, eventually, and I'm very curious to see what you come up with. Primary Focus: Demonology Magical Capabilities: None Here's where I'm a little confused. Is Ebenezer actually capable of speaking with or summoning demons? If so, I would consider that to be magical to some degree, even if there isn't a way to explain it in-character just yet. It's fine if he's able to talk with/summon demons, but I'd like these abilities to be listed explicitly. Weapons and Equipment: Four tomes on Demonology, a chest full of arcane supplies for Demonology (Summoning, slaying, etc) Sword, twin pistols. His Demon Imp companion. Read last comment, I'd consider the demon imp to be magical in nature, more like a summon of sorts. Or is her permanently summoned to his side, and invisible to others?

Although Demonology certainly isn't explainable by current studies, I'd have to infer that it has some magical influence. The one thing I need more detail on is his imp companion, and his capabilities. Other than that, I love it.
Summary: I need more details on the imp, and his demonology expertise. That's all, though. I really really like the character so far.
Also, with your permission, I'd like to add a section for Demonology, vaguely describing the theory of the study in the initial post. You could do this yourself if you'd like, I just prefer to have it in there somewhere for documentation purposes. It's fine if you'd prefer I didn't, though.
Lastly, although it's not necessary to use arcane/ki to describe your abilities, all magic, including practical demonology, would stem from one or the other in some way, since the three philosophies of energy are the building blocks of reality. @Jensoman Yiss, more peple es gud for are pee

So your character isn't a Diver? Because the IC kind of is going to be centered around Divers, outside of special cases and NPCs.
My notes. I think there needs to be just a bit of clarification here.
1) According to Ebenezer the ability to summon/control Demons doesn't come from you. Anyone can do it. It comes from the ritual and the power of the world. So nope. I stand by my answer. No magical capabilities.
2) Nope. Typical sword. I can look up and see if there's a fancy name for one. But there's nothing fancy about it.
3) I was told he doesn't have to be. I asked tex. If you think that's wrong, take it up with him.
I'm working on my reply to tex. It'll be up a bit later after I write it all out. (Of course I add so much work to myself. :( )

The thing about being a 'Diver' is that it's more of a label that people push onto you. If Ebenezer doesn't consider himself a Diver, that's fine. But if he leaves the confines of the city on his own, without an escort or some government order, than others would still consider him as a Diver.
Most Divers spend a lot of their time outside nation borders, while some simply leave their homes whenever it's most profitable. 'Diver' is really just a label for people who leave the borders, so if people don't know about that, they wouldn't even consider you to be a Diver.
Not to mention, some Divers take pride in the title. From the sound of it, Ebenezer is more concerned with studying (He is a scholar after all) than he is with profit, so he doesn't match the common Diver dynamic, despite the fact that he's left the border before. The occupation tab is more of a 'what does your character consider themselves as?' sort of deal.

Correct. He doesn't consider himself a Diver.

1) I can expand on them. If you want I can add them to the CS as we go, or be a sad puppy and do it now. Haha. (I'm currently not in the mood for writing atm, but I can do it tomorrow.)
2) He is capable of speaking and summoning them. However, as I mentioned to Hat earlier. Demonology doesn't use any innate abilities. Unless you count memorizing symbols and rituals. If you want to know more about the rituals, I guess I can go into detail, per quote below V
3) Imp is permanently summoned, until Ebenezer decided to send Imp back to where ever demons are from. (Void most likely) And Imp is invisible to everyone but Ebenezer. I wanted it to seem like he's crazy and imagining Imp. (Which he may or may not be)

So I need to flesh out Demonology as a study, which includes information about demons (Imp by association), symbols and rituals and implements used in summoning and control. Did I miss anything?
@Blue DemonThe sword thing is mostly a personal quip, since there's broadswords, longswords, shortswords, katana, rapiers. Mostly me nitpicking. I do that.
I don't think the not being a Diver thing is wrong. Was mostly a curiosity, and just something I wanted you to be aware of.

I guess it would most likely be a long sword. XD I'll add that in.

Correct. You don't have to explain all the demons now, but I would like them to have a small bio as they come in-character, just so I have an idea of what they're capable of.
From the way you explained it, practical demonology is all about the rituals, yea? If this is the case, then I think I'd still consider it magical in nature, although instead of manipulating arcane energy using your body, it's more along the lines of the ritual itself manipulating it, which would indeed mean that Ebenezer is not influencing arcane energy directly, but merely guiding it, in a sense.
So as an example, if a ritual calls for a set of specific arcane symbols to be drawn in a circle with a set number of lit candles, then this set up of symbols and objects would somehow interact with arcane energy to summon demons, either by opening a rift in the fabric of space time, or outright harnessing ethereal beings that would otherwise be unable to interact with humans. If it's something along these lines, I'm perfectly ok with it, and it adds a layer of complexity to arcane manipulation that goes outside the CMAS understanding of how arcane energy works.
It's the same principal that technology in Thorisa functions, where they harness arcane energy to perform a function in a specific way, wherein a ritual would do this to summon a demon.
...IDK if u're being sarcastic and hinting at something, or u're actually being genuine saying that. D;
A bit of both. I didn't have as many issues with the character (personally I have no real issues), just the way that Arcane is defined in this RP is a lot more broad than "doing the magics."
And yes, it's also a joke about how the character is a story-changing inconsistent crazy boy.

It would probably be more the the later, which I bolded, since that also keeps with the "Is Ebenezer actually completely insane?!" instead of outright going, yeah, he's actually onto something. Maybe he's not crazy. Because I like the: is he/isn't he? dynamic going on.
Question: Does that mean I actually need to change anything in my magic section? Because there was points brought up by both of you about his magic usage. (excluding the fact I have to add rituals, symbols, etc)
EDIT:

The only other thing I'd like to see is an explanation of the imp, which you can put in the magical section just for organization purposes, if nothing else. Other than that, nope, everything's good.
Blurb on Demonology you can feel free to reword/add to it at your own pleasure. Because I am lazy right now, but I want to get the basics down.
According to the CMAS, there is no such thing as Demons. No school will actually teach Demonology, except within other classes. However where there is a will there is a way. The CMAS keeps a sharp eye on anyone who proclaims themselves a Demonologist. Especially because a Demonologist describe demons as not coming from their world, but in reality it's more like pulling ethereal beings into reality (the most current radical theory, postulated by Ebenezer himself).
There are two types of Demons according to Demonology. The first is a Class A Demon. These demons can cross into the world from the void without aid of a summoner. It's theorized there are "weak" spots between us and the void that these class A demons can squeeze through. The most common theory is that weak spots are caused by misuse/ drain of Acana/Ki or evil acts (such as murder). Class A Demons are large, often as large or larger than a person. They are characterized by having more than four limbs.
Class B Demons are weaker demons. They cannot cross into our world without the aid of a summoner. They are often call Imps, rather than demons. They are usually considered useless. However they can be utilized as spies and watch dogs. They are most often described as being small in stature, the size of a big cat or small dog. The actual description of Imps vary wildly, which sometimes leads people to the conclusion they must be made up if no one can agree on a description.
The act of summoning a demon is long a laborious. If done incorrectly it will result in death. Only the most fool hearty actually attempt to summon demons.
To summon Class B demons, only a simple circle is needed. Depending on what sort binding you want on your Imp, you'd use a different circle. Of course you'd have to add the proper symbols and ritualistic items to the base circle to achieve the desired effect.
This sort of circle is a long term binding. The Imp will conform to your will for as long as you live. However the Imp will be unable to leave you for long periods of time, or even for a short distance lest it die.
This binding is for sending the Imp off on a task. Want to retrieve a rock from half way around the world without going yourself? This is the circle you'd use. Want to murder a co-worker without implementing yourself? This is what you'd use.
If you wanted to send the Imp off to spy a long distance, you'd use this circle. It allows the creature to remain intangible and completely undetectable.
Summoning a Class A demon almost always means death.
This last circle can also be used to bind a Class A demon already at large.
The most common symbols used in Demonology are
There are two sets, one for rituals, and one for basic usage.
All rituals need a wand, usually made of metal. Candles, water basins, herbs and salt. The quantities, and quality of the items are specified depending on the ritual.
EDIT: Updated Ebenezer
Just because you can't see them, doesn't mean I'm crazy
- - - - (Personal Details) First Name: Ebenezer Last Name: N/A Age: Varies between 28-36 depending on whom he's talking to Sex: Male Home Nation: Wont say.
Appearance: Ebenezer is six foot tall. He has medium length brown hair and a beard-mustache combo that is neatly kept. He has dark green eyes, nearly black.
In addition to some of the symbols used in Demonology he has symbols that match some of these:
These symbols have been found elsewhere in the world after Ebenezer found them on his body. There are also other symbols that appear to be just nonsense, such a squiggly lines:
Personality: Most people say Ebenezer is crazy. Despite his sane appearance he has been known to mumble to himself about demons and to talk to nothing. He is a very secretive person and tends to lie a lot. Each time he tells a story it changes just a little. The common opinion is that nothing he says it true. From there the story would go on to explain how he got started on his path to being a demonologist. Some tales recount how he ventured into the unknown and lived there, learning secrets from the land itself. Other telling told the story of him learning under a wealthy eccentric who had studied Demons before him. He also tells people that the demons gave him his scars that he has carved all over his body.
Whatever the case, he ended up in Arcadia, studying in a very prestigious university, which was also funding his trip into the unknown.

If there is a Class A demon running about, Ebenezer could understand and communicate, but it'd probably kill everyone before the first word was out of his mouth. Body Modifications: None, unless you count the scars Imp: Imp is a summon demon that is invisible and intangible to everyone but Ebenezer. Imp is the size of a cat. Ebenezer has never given the same description of Imp twice, but he always includes the fact that it has furry ears and claws. Imp is a permanate summon, and thus must be within a few feet of Ebenezer at all times. Weapons and Equipment: Four tomes on Demonology, a chest full of arcane supplies for Demonology (Summoning, slaying, etc) Longsword, twin pistols. His Demon Imp companion. Specialties: Demonology, University schooling, and backing.
- - - - (Personal Details) First Name: Lloyd Last Name: Maginn Age: 37 Home Nation: Illon Republic
History: Lloyd was the youngest child of poor parents. He was five when his father killed his mother and then himself. His older brother was twelve and subsequently went mad. He drowned himself in the tub after they were taken in my their aunt. His older sisters had been off at school and as far as Lloyd ever heard married up the ladder into advantageous unions. Lloyd himself went a little crazy too.
He began carving symbols into his skin with whatever he could find. His aunt eventually didn't care when he ran away, relieved to be done with the troubling boy.
Lloyd ended up on the streets where he cemented the idea of demons. On the streets is where he "summoned" up the Imp that still travels with him. When he reached his middle teen years, he came under the attention of the Council of Magic and Arcane Science for spreading rumors of Demons. At first the CMAS thought him mad. However as they caught him once and studied his markings that changed. Some of the markings were pure nonsense. However some of them could be found elsewhere in the world, in the uncharted places, origins unknown. It was possible Lloyd had seen them before, but they were perfect scale replicas.
Doubt crept into the minds of the Arch Mages that maybe Lloyd wasn't mad. However Lloyd slipped their grasp and escaped before they could truly determine his sanity. He reappeared as a young man in the capital studying at the post prestigious university. However, due to his backing by the school and a wealthy noble, the CMAS watched Lloyd, now going by Ebenezer quietly.
Lloyd's paranoid seems to stem from the CMAS and their diligence and watching him. After all, he is actually being followed.
- - - - (Power Matrix) Primary Focus: Never practiced. Magical Capabilities: It's possible Lloyd has a innate ability to use either Ki or Arcane abilities. Or he just might be insane. It's hard to say because he knows some things he shouldn't know. For example, sometime he says he sent Imp to look at something, and knows what a (chart/book/something) might say, having never seen it. Other times he's just plain wrong. Sometimes he also can predict an event that will happen, but more often he's wrong. Just coincidence?

Alright, you're good to drop your sheet in the characters section now, and I'll go ahead and fiddle with the demonology description a tad to coexist with this universe's physical laws. Sorry for the trials, but details are details and whatnot.
I think I'll have Demons fall under a void nature that won't be common knowledge until far later in the RP.

@Blue DemonI hope the imp is absolutely adorable. And will probably rend our flesh.
Stoneskin - Alexander’s flesh is tougher than that of a normal human, a product if the concentration of Ki within his flesh. He can also focus on one portion of his anatomy at a time (head, chest, arms, core, or legs) to increase his durability even further. While it doesn’t make him anywhere near invincible, he could stop a light blade or strike easily. This is acceptable, but be careful about just how hard you make your skin. Although Ki can change your body's structure harmlessly and fluidly, it can't change the fact that you skin is still skin.
Reactive Ki - The more abuse Alexander takes, physically and mentally, the more efficiently he can channel his Ki towards increasing his physical attributes. He does this instinctively, making it appear that he naturally becomes stronger and faster as he takes more hits. This is fine, but Ki overuse can easily drain a person's energy over a long period of time. Although Ki is essentially infinite, it does have limits. Just make sure you don't go overboard with this, and it's good to go.
Barrier - To protect himself from magic or projectile weapons, Alexander manifests his Arcane energy into a barrier of raw force. This barrier is at maximum six feet long and high and can be of any basic shape, including concave and convex. When something strikes it, it sheds the excess energy as light and heat. Alex can only create one barrier at a time, and the centerpoint of it must be within two feet of him. This is good, but be aware that your barriers might not be strong enough to protect you from all forms of attacks. Also, consider your specialization. Try not to spam barriers too much, at risk of using up your energy supply
Kinetomancy - Alexander harnesses his magic to create effects brought about by raw, physical force. Due to their nature, these abilities have a very limited effective range. Beyond two yards much of the force is lost, resulting in little more than a light shove for the next yard before fading completely. So basically force-pushes away from his body, yea? This is good.
I'm ok with what you have so far! Looks like he's turning out pretty good. Finish it up and I'll give it a final evaluation, as will my Co-GM
Alright, here's the updated version. Let me know what you think.
- - - - (Personal Details) First Name: Alexander Last Name: Valerian Age: 27 Sex: Male Home Nation: Teknoh Occupation: Diver
Appearance: Standing at 5'10", Alexander weighs in around 170lbs. His eyes are deep gray in color, though they grow lighter until becoming silver as his Reactive Ki ability takes effect. Brown hair falls to his shoulder blades, framing sharp features and a rough, unkempt beard. Alex's skin is lightly tanned from his time outdoors and beneath it is hard muscle. Rather than the typical bulk muscle of a body-builder, his form is more compact and wiry. He tends to favor simple clothes in earthen tones that better blend in to his surroundings.
Personality: Alexander tends to come off as brash, overconfident, and stubborn. Though he backs it all up with a high degree of skill, he tends to end up with a lot of enemies. He generally acts before he thinks, relying on instinct in most things. On top of that he's got a wicked temper and often just can't help blowing off some steam in a physical way. The only people he really has any respect for are those who could clearly best or match him, or are simply fun to argue or fight with.
All of this of course limits the group of people Alex considers 'friends.' The people he trusts are few and far between, but those few have a solid ally who eventually reveals himself to be much more personable than first impressions usually allow. Aside from these connections, his only loyalty is to himself. The opinions of others hold little sway over his thoughts.
History: Alexander grew up on the very edge of Teknoh, and still came to feel overcrowded and cooped up as the population with the nation's borders continued to increase. When he was still a youth, his family moved further outward to an independent small town outside any larger power's borders. Alex flourished with the relative freedom and open air, though was often seen as out of control. Eventually, an older man offered his parents to teach him self discipline and how to harness his apparent vitality and strength.
It was then that he learned of how the energies of his body worked in tandem with each other, and how he could put each of them to use if he only knew how. Through the teachings of Jujitsu (The "Gentle Art") and Judo (The "Gentle Way/Path") he learned better control of both his body and natural abilities. Caution and knowing when to shut his mouth came along the way, as the old man was not so gentle as his teachings implied.
Eventually, even the small town came to grow too crowded for Alexander's liking. Gathering up the few things he felt he needed, he struck out on his own. His only goodbye was to the old man who had taught him much, and it came in the form of a silent prayer over his teacher's grave. Alex has not returned to that town since then, and circumvents it when he must return to civilization for supplies or to offload something worthwhile.
Stoneskin - Alexander’s flesh is tougher than that of a normal human, a product of the concentration of Ki within his body. He can also focus on one portion of his anatomy at a time (head, chest, arms, core, or legs) to increase his durability even further. While it doesn’t make him anywhere near invincible, he can parry a blade or strike with minimal harm.
Reactive Ki - The more abuse Alexander takes, physically and mentally, the more efficiently he can channel his Ki towards increasing his physical attributes. He does this instinctively, making it appear that he naturally becomes stronger and faster as he takes more hits.
Alex can only create one barrier at a time, and the center-point of it must be within two feet of him.
Kinetomancy - Alexander harnesses his magic to create effects brought about by raw, physical force. Due to their nature, these abilities have a very limited effective range. Beyond two yards much of the force is lost, resulting in little more than a light shove for the next yard before fading completely.
Body Modifications: None Weapons and Equipment: Alexander relies only on his body and magic for combat. Aside from that, he has a simple leather pack with a single strap that he uses to store equipment, loot, and food. He does carry a single long knife, but more as a tool than a weapon. Specialties: Judo, Jujitsu, and other martial arts to a lesser degree. Considers himself knowledgeable as to the nature of Ki and the Arcane, as well as how they interact. Also a passable cook, tracker, and musician.
I also figured I'd address your comments about his abilities a little.
Stoneskin: Most of the defensive power here is intended to defend him against the blunt impacts of parrying or knocking aside a strike, rather than directly blocking a sword someone swings at him. Think of the various Iron-whatever techniques of Chinese martial arts.
Reactive Ki: That's the main reason I mentioned efficiency rather than direct usability. He is intended to be worn out somewhat quickly overall, but be durable enough to take the hits he needs to ruin someone's day.
Barrier: By no means is this supposed to be a catch-all defense. It only really protects against physical objects and the force they carry with them. While it will stop a fireball or lightning bolt or something similar, it's only because they are coming into contact with what is essentially a solid object. It will not however stop the heat, sound, or light from either of these effects, and enough force and energy will overwhelm and shatter the barrier. When that happens it's like a flash grenade going off right in front of him.
Kinetomancy: At the longer distances yes, but closer up (mostly within his physical reach) he is able to focus it more. What starts out as a blade-sharp wedge of force that he projects as a punch would start out as enough to sever someone's limb, but quickly deteriorate into a blunt impact within about a foot. From there it would be like a solid punch for a few more feet before growing weaker, and so on and so forth.
EDIT:: It's also worth mentioning that he would be rather conservative in using both of the latter two abilities, as they would quickly become a major drain on his stamina.
Fiddle away. Better you than me. Haha.
And NP, on the trials. Should have thought my actions through. Demonology=More work. I just should have made him insane only. Instead I made him super special.
