"Well yes, but you obviously prefer to fly."
"Stop your fussing, Kili. She will be fine." Gandalf chuckled slightly.

Maleficent couldn't help, but give a chuckle of amusement as she held the young dwarf in her arms. She looked to Fili, and let one arm out to him, asking for his permission to accept her motherly love. "Will you both accept me, on this journey, as your godmother?", she softly asked them.

Fili had glanced back in Thorin's direction for a moment before he stepped into the hug and nodded. He was a little closer to Thorin than his younger brother, and more concerned about upsetting their uncle.
Kili on the other hand, nodded immediately. "Of course!"

Maleficent reached her goal after all; they both accepted her as an adoptive parent. But with Thorin around, this new addition will become complicated. She kept the twins within her grasp, and she smiled to herself for them both to accept her. "Thank you", she whispered to them.

"I would have doubted me too. I'm a Hobbit, not a warrior, or a burglar", she heard Bilbo say near them.

"Never have I been so glad to be wrong, in all my life." Thorin admitted with a smile as he hugged the hobbit genuinely for the first time.

Kili exchanged a glance with Fili and Maleficent and grinned happily. "I knew he'd come around."

Maleficent had her arm around Kili, for it to land on his shoulder when she stood by him. She returned the smile to him before she watches the Eagles fly off. "Is that what I think it is?", Bilbo spoke up as their gazes turned towards the mountain in the distance. "Erebor! The Lonely Mountain. The last of the Great Dwarf Kingdoms of Middle-earth", Gandalf explained. "Our home", Thorin breathed out in astonishment. A bird starts to fly towards the mountain. "A raven! The birds are returning!", Dwalin exclaimed when it flew by.

"That, my dear Dwalin, is a thrush." Gandalf corrected him, pleased however as it was just the bird that they needed to fly past. The thrush would be the one to show them the hidden door.
"Then we'll take it as a good omen." Thorin nodded as he watched the bird disappear over the horizon towards the mountain. "That the worst is now behind us."

As the thrush flies towards Lonely Mountain, it picks up a snail and starts bashing it against the rock of the mountain. The tapping echoes through the deserted halls of Erebor. Among the huge golden treasure, the head of a dragon appears at the surface. Its huge Amber colored eye opens, knowing that the company was close.

In a forest, Bilbo was keeping an eye out on the Orcs in the distance as they ride by. As he was about to get up and leave, a much larger creature from the distance makes a roar. It looked like a large black bear, only crumpled in some areas. Knowing that they will be in trouble, he ran off, not knowing that the creature already saw him.

"How close is the pack?" asked Dwalin as the hobbit re-joined the company.
"Too close!" gasped a distressed Bilbo as he waved his hands back in the direction he had come from. "A couple of leagues, no more! But we have another problem-" but before he could tell them about the creature, he was interrupted by the members of the company.
"Did they see you?!" asked Gandalf, alarmed when Bilbo didn't answer no immediately. "They saw you?!"
"No, will you just--"

The wizard sighed in relief.
"See, what did I tell you, quiet as a mouse! Perfect burglar material!"
"Would you just LISTEN?!" shouted Bilbo above all of their voices, finally getting their attention. "I'm trying to tell you there's something else out there!!" the hobbit pointed back towards where he had seen the creature again.

Maleficent managed to wear a black cloak that would cover her front and her back , until she could use her wings again after they heal. The cloak itself wasn't heavy, but light-weight. She stood with the twins when Bilbo came back.

"What form did it take? Like a bear?", Gandalf asked the Hobbit, making sure he knows what he thinks.

Bilbo looked at the wizard in surprise. "Yes...how-how did you...?"
"What does he mean?" Thorin turned to Gandalf. "What is that thing, and why is it following us?"

Gandalf doesn’t respond to the question as he turns away to think for a moment. "I say we double back" "We’ll be run down by a pack of Orcs" "There is a house, it’s not far from here, where we might take refuge", Gandalf explained sternly to the group. "A large bear, you say?", Maleficent spoke up. "Sounds like Beorn, Gandalf", she added to the wizard with her eyes slightly narrowing.

((The black dress she is currently wearing is the one she wore over her catsuit during the final battle in the film))

"Who's house?" demanded Thorin as the wizard talked of a place where they could take refuge. "Are they friend or foe."
"Neither." Gandalf admitted, pursing his lips together. "He will help us, or...he will kill us."

Kili swallowed nervously as he took in Gandalf's words. He wasn't sure he liked the sound of the second option, not one bit!

Maleficent had her hand upon Kili's shoulder the whole time, and ironically, she felt his fear. Reassuring him, she soothed her hand upon that shoulder. "What choice do we have?", Thorin asked aloud until there was a loud roar in the distance. "None", Gandalf silently answered to himself.

And they were running. The roar was getting closer until there was indeed a house in the distance. The fae's cloak was only dragging behind her a little bit, but it wasn't that long, so she didn't have to hold it up while she was running.

"Open the door!!!" Thorin bellowed as the dwarves all slammed against the locked door, the roar sounding again louder behind them. Growling, Thorin shoved through the crowd and lifted the latch, so they could all run inside.

As they shut the door, a few of the dwarves shouted out in surprise when the beast's head tried to push through the gap.
"PUSH!" Kili shouted, and Dwalin and Bofur got behind the young dwarf and helped him to push it shut against the giant bear, putting a wooden bar across it to make sure it would stay shut.
"What was that?!" Ori gasped, looking at Gandalf.

"That is our host." growled the wizard. "His name is Beorn, and he's a Skinchanger."

Running inside, Maleficent had her curved dagger at the ready if the beast ever passes the door's limit. Hearing the Gandalf say that is was Beorn, she sighed in relief before putting the dagger back into its place in her boot. "Sometimes, he’s a huge black bear, and sometimes, he’s a great strong man. The bear is unpredictable, but the man can be reasoned with", she spoke in order to add to Gandalf's explanation. She watched the dwarves get used to their surroundings. "However, he is not overfond of dwarves", she added in grim with her eyes narrowing. "Beorn has had a troubled past, I'm afraid, and it's best not to overcrowd him during a first encounter"

"The last person to have startled him, was torn to shreds." Gandalf added with a firm nod. "But try not to worry yourselves, you'll be safe here for tonight..." the wizard trailed off and muttered under his breath though Maleficent was probably the only one that could have heard it. "I hope."

That night, everyone slept on the floor in the barn, it seems to be. Maleficent laid on her back on a blanket as she let herself sleep in between the twins. With Fili's back towards her, it seemed that his brother was the closest towards her, laying his head upon her chest, like a child. That same night, nobody noticed Beorn in his strong male form, as he enters the house. No one, except Bilbo, notices him.

Bilbo tried to keep turned over on his back, hoping the man wouldn't approach them or try and hurt the group. But he simply shuffled around, spoke to a few of the animals, and disappeared around the corner.

The next morning, when he woke up, the other dwarves weren't lying around him anymore, but he could hear them talking with Gandalf around the corner.
"Alright, now, Maleficent was serious when she said it's best not to overcrowd him! So, only come out when I give the signal, and come out in pairs! Ah, Bilbo, you'll do yes, you can come out with me."
"Oh uh...is-is this a good idea?" the hobbit questioned warily, remembering what Gandalf had also said last night, about being torn to shreds if they did startle the intimidating strange man.

"Of course!", the wizard reassured him. "Actually, no...I don't know", he finally mumbled before taking his leave. "What signal would that be?", Bofur spoke up from the back at the window. Maleficent made her way to the doorway, and looked around the corner to see Gandalf and Bilbo approach the beast, now turned man. The skinchanger was lumberjacking some wood nearby, and he sure looked like he didn't want to be disturbed.
