Suddenly, Bofur and Gloin stopped and Bofur stooped down to pick up a leather pouch that was lying on the floor.
"Look!" drawled Gloin as he showed it to the others. "A tobacco pouch, there's dwarves in these woods!"
"Dwarves from the Blue Mountains, too!" Bofur put in as he snatched the pouch from Gloin. "This looks just like mine!"

"That's because it is yours, understand?!" snapped Bilbo at them, he had managed to shake off the enchantment himself and he knew he had to try and get the dwarves out of it somehow too. "We're going round in circles, we are lost!"

Maleficent looked around the forest when they stopped. She had to find a way out of the tight airspace in order to get the dwarves out of the sickening enchantment. "We lost the sun!", one of the dwarves complained as the sun was indeed gone. "Bilbo", she softly called him and pointed up to the treetops. Helping him get upon the tree, she was just about distracted when a white stag appeared in the distance. Following it, she didn't realize that it was leading her away from the group, unaware that they were, in fact, missing...

An arrow whizzed past Maleficent's ear, as Thorin had also seen the white stag and had shot an arrow at it. It missed the stag completely, and the animal in question was soon gone in the darkness of the forest.
"You shouldn't have done that!" Kili proclaimed as he worriedly watched Maleficent disappear from view. "It's bad luck!"
"I don't believe in luck." Thorin snarled. "We make our own luck!"
While Maleficent was gone and Bilbo was in the treetops, the dwarves had wandered off the path and gotten very lost indeed. Their clamouring and tripping over things had disturbed the webs, which had brought the giant spiders straight to the unsuspecting group of dwarves.

Bilbo looked around as he broke the treetops and heaved in a huge breath of the fresh air. He smiled slightly as a cloud of blue-black butterflies flew up around him, disturbed as the hobbit appeared. He looked around and got his bearings, finally finding the river, lake and the Lonely Mountain in the distance.
"I can see a lake, and a river! And the Lonely Mountain!" he called down to the others. "We're almost there!!" he said excitedly, but there was no response which made the hobbit frown. "Hello? Can you hear me? I know which way to go!"

It finally dawns upon Maleficent that she was being dragged away from the group by this "spell", as she claims it. Wondering how far she went, she looked around her among the trees and the forest surroundings, and she doesn't know this path by one bit, and all has gotten quiet. "Bilbo!?", she called. No answer. She began to move in a random direction, relying on the forest to take her through. There was nothing here that was familiar to her. "Hello?!", she called, still nothing has answered back. She finally stopped in her tracks; now she was lost. She couldn't fly, since that wasn't an option.

There was until she heard branches cracking above her, as something fell on the ground. It looked like a sack, a white sack, to what appears to be a person inside. Taking the dagger in hand, she knew what this stuff was: web from spiders. She has seen and heard tales of giant spiders, but not this close to the south from Dol Guldor. Cutting the web as fast as she can, she came across the face of Fili. "Fili?", she said in disbelief.

Fili coughed and stared up at the fae in surprise. "Maleficent?! What...what's going on? Where is everyone?" the blonde dwarf looked down at the web restraining the rest of him in confusion. "Wh-what is this stuff?!"

Maleficent managed to cut the rest of the web as Fili rumbled away in words. More stacks fell from the "sky" and landed around them, and they were squirming as the others began to come alive out of their confinements of webbing. "Apparently, you all must have been stuck in a sticky situation", the fae lightly joked as she finished cutting Fili free. She looked among the group and noticed that one was missing. "Kili?!", she called, turning into worry as she heard grunting in the distance, as if someone was being attacked. She was convinced that it was the younger brother and she moved quickly out of sight towards the source. Unknown to her, the rest of the spiders from the nests above, began to approach the remaining dwarves.

((Tauriel will be among the other kin surrounding the dwarves while Maleficent goes after Kili))

"Help!!" Kili shouted as he tried to get away, but the spider had a firm grip on his foot and was trying to drag him back into the trees once more.
"Kili!" Fili shouted after his brother, and went to go after Maleficent to rescue his brother.

It was just then that, much to the dwarves' horror, elves began to appear out of the trees, some shooting at the spiders with arrows while others used knives.

That's when Legolas appeared, using his arrows and knives to kill the spiders, after which, they point their arrows at the dwarves. "Do not think I won't kill you, Dwarf. It would be my pleasure", he firmly told Thorin as he kept his stance in front of him, with the arrow aimed at his face.

As Kili was being attacked by the remaining pack of spiders, Maleficent appeared from the trees, starts killing the spiders. It seems she had a lot of muscle and speed to kill them, and it also appears that she was flying. Her wing was healed! Agile maneuvers like any other elf, her dagger and her sharp finger cuffs being her only shape weapon, she killed at least half of the pack.

"Don't move, Dwarf!" Mel's voice rang out as she stopped Kili from trying to run the other way, forcing him and Maleficent to walk back towards the rest of the group which was already surrounded by the rest of the patrol. "Search them!" she ordered the other elves, who began to talk amongst themselves as they searched the group over, confiscating any of the weapons that they had.

"Legolas, hir nin (my Lord)!" called out one, who had taken Orcrist from Thorin. He bowed his head respectfully to the prince and held out the sword for him to take. The elf had recognised it being of elvish make and thought it rather odd that a dwarf would be carrying it.

As soon as the spiders were killed, she had her cloak back on. Before she knew it, a Wood Elf had them both captive, and were forced to stand with the others, who were also surrounded by the Silvan. "Silvan elves. My kin", she whispered to herself as her dagger was given up. "Legolas Thranduilion (Legolas, son of Thranduil)", Maleficent fluently spoke up in Quenya to the leading elf, after she gave a respectful greeting sign of the elves: hand on her chest. She had to prove that she was of the Elven kin.

"Saeril." Mel murmured softly in recognition, nodding her head slightly in greeting. Though she had not been to Fangorn herself, she had heard tell of Maleficent from the elves in the nearby wood of Lothlorien, which she had visited.

A few of the elves eyed Maleficent warily. If she was one of their kin then why was she dealing with dwarves? But they seemed to brush it off relatively well, though Maleficent was still taken in as a prisoner along with the dwarves.
"Thorin!" hissed Bofur as he was nudged past their leader, over the bridge towards the Gate of Thranduil's kingdom. "Where's Bilbo?!" the hobbit was nowhere to be found.

Maleficent was other than forced to walk along with her companions towards the gate of the Halls of the Woodland Realm. The fae may be have the respect for the elves, but she didn't appreciate herself being dragged by them. The ElvenKing was another story to her. She knew him, but she really watched him from a distance. She remembered Legolas when he was just a young elfling, when she, again, was watching him from a tree. They did cross paths once or twice unintentionally, but she doubted that the prince would understand, or even remember who she was, minus her newly added horns and wings.

The fae was surprised that she wasn't the one being taken to the dungeons like everybody else, except for Thorin. She did keep her eyes on Legolas, though.

Mel quickly stepped in front of the guards escorting Thorin before he could be taken with his companions to the dungeons. "Dartho(wait), this one goes to the King." she ordered, and the soldiers obediently pulled Thorin up a set of stairs and out of sight.

Fili growled crossly when one of the elf guards confiscated a knife he'd thought was so well-hidden that they'd never find it, and he was shoved into a cell next to his brother.

"Aren't you going to search me?" Kili boldly asked the female elf who pushed him into his cell. It was a long shot but maybe he could try flirting his way out of this. "I could have anything down my trousers."

Tauriel's eyebrows rose and she looked at the dwarf, quite unimpressed by his attempted charm. "Or nothing." she muttered and shut the door abruptly before he could try to step out. It seemed they were unsure what to do with Maleficent, because she wasn't shut in like the rest of the dwarves.

Legolas was narrowing his icy blue eyes in every direction of the room as cell doors were being closed repeatedly. Nothing seemed to have phased since he had that cold stare upon his Elven facials until he noticed that the fae was still in the open of the room. "Take her to the king as well. We don't want any new suspicions roaming these halls", his calm voice sounded to the other elves.

Maleficent wasn't in a cell, and was just standing at the stairs where Kili was imprisoned. Eyes slightly widening, she carefully and slowly reached through the bars to at least let him him know that she was still there. An expression of shame filled her, and she didn't like how her own kin would treat her companions.

(Funny thing is, in the books they weren't actually chucked straight in the prisons, they were only locked up after they started being rude and disrespectful to the Elves...also the conversation between Thranduil and Thorin goes slightly differently, so I'm going to do it sort of halfway between here if that's alright because the book version actually makes more sense xDD)

Maleficent wasn't allowed to stay with Kili for long as Mel's hand rested firmly on her shoulder and forcefully, however still rather gently compared to how rough the other Elves had been, steered her in the same direction Thorin had been taken. The Elvenking's voice echoed towards them as they climbed the staircase towards his throne, where Thorin was standing before him. Two guards stood off to the side, spears at their sides, and silent as they watched and waited in case the dwarf needed to be removed.

"Some may imagine that a noble quest is at hand," Thranduil began as he paced from his throne towards Thorin, who glared at him hatefully, "a quest to reclaim a homeland, and slay a dragon. But I myself am not so sure. Now, you will tell me exactly what you are doing in my woods, and to what purpose, or you will end up just like your friends. You plan to steal something that does not belong to you, I would deem." he nodded curtly towards Mel, who gave her uncle a nod in return, as the she-elf arrived with Maleficent.

"We were just passing through." insisted Thorin stubbornly as he avoided the elf's piercing blue-grey eyes. "We were hungry, and looking for food and shelter." he certainly wasn't going to admit to the Elvenking that they were going to the Lonely Mountain, or he would most certainly demand some sort of bargain from them.
"I do not believe you." Thranduil answered sharply. "Tell the truth, or I will lock you up until the fancy strikes you to stop lying to me, even if it takes a hundred years!"

For Maleficent, she kept calm as she was steered by the she-elf who was at least the same height as her. Again, memories came flooding back as the fae looked around the halls of the Woodland Realm, and she remembers their Elven leader greatly. Thranduil wasn't one to stick outside his walls, and Maleficent knew that there were some layers to the tall elf that she remembered. But, as she was lead to the top of the stairs, there was Thorin before the majesty himself.

"My lord, we came for a purpose", she spoke up after stepping forward a few times, just about stopping a few feet away from Thorin and the ElvenKing. "I am Maleficent, lady elf of your people", she introduced herself in a proper tone of voice. "I know your son", she breathed out.

"Do not speak out of turn, fae." growled Mel firmly into Maleficent's ear. "I have been gentle with you so far, but you are as traitorous as they if you have been helping them creep through our lands unawares. If you do not watch yourself you might find a knife or two will accidentially find its way to poke you in the back, do you understand?"

Thranduil's gaze turned to regard Maleficent as she spoke, and it was just as hard and cold as the way he looked at Thorin. "Yes, you do not think that I would have forgotten you, Saeril." he answered smoothly, with one eyebrow raised as he regarded her, stopping in front of the fae for a moment, with his arms held behind his back as he moved. "Or your tendency to choose the wrong sides." the Elvenking growled lowly. "Somehow it does not surprise me to find you with dwarves sneaking around my woods. It is very clear to me that you had a specific purpose in being here, but I do not believe the lies that your dwarvish friend is trying to feed to me. It is a crime to wander these woods without leave; do you forget that you were using the road made by my people? And did you not rouse those foul spiders from their holes with all your yelling and clamouring through the wood? After all your disturbances you have made to my people, I have every right to know what it is that brought you here, and if you will not tell me now then I swear I will lock you all away until you have learnt sense and manners!" Thranduil seemed to get more angry by the second each time Thorin had refused to tell him why they had come to Mirkwood, and it seemed Maleficent had not had much like to quiet his wrath either.

Maleficent's facials did not change since she was ready for something like this to happen. Again, she knew the king, and once knew their queen. The poor elfling. The fae's eyes were pinned to the taller elf, and there was no fear within them. She was strong to conquer these kinds of encounters, but the wrath of the ElvenKing was a different story. Breaking their stare down, Maleficent exhaled as she looked down to the floor before walking at least three steps around the elf lord, with her back to him and still looking down.

"You don't trust me, and you possibly might not ever", she softly said in her voice as if there was sadness within her. "Our purpose of passing through your domain, would give us a safer road through the forest to claim what is theirs", she gestured to Thorin. "Under Gandalf the Grey's order, we were stay on the Elven path. You might not trust them, but dwarves are just as stubborn", her proper voice returned until turning around. "We are to claim the Lonely Mountain up in the Mist", she finally said it.

"Traitor." Thorin hissed angrily at her. How could she claim to be on their side when she would give away their secrets so quickly to their sworn enemies.
"Enter the mountain?" Mel scoffed at the fae, her own eyes sharp as she glared at her. "You are a fool, you will never get past the dragon."

"No," Thranduil shook his head as he circled Thorin ominously, his head tilted to one side as if he were thinking something through very carefully. "they have found another way in. And he seeks to claim the thing that would give him the right to rule. The king's jewel, the Arkenstone."

"It's not about being a traitor, Oakenshield. It's about bringing the enemies together. To work their differences. And to all of the Elven kin, you have been with one this whole time, and you never..placed a cursed on me if I ever was your enemy", Maleficent explained to the dwarven Prince, in order to share some sense to him. "I did warn them about the same valuable piece, my lord", Maleficent spoke to the ElvenKing once she narrowed her eyes slightly at Thorin. "There is a sickness up there that I have witnessed in the early age. That sickness..is never leaving that mountain, and the future king isn't afraid of it. Like it was just a fairy's tale", she finally came out on honesty on the dangers of the mountain, and she hoped Thorin would understand his future fate. Her words weren't just swayed for the elf lord, but to Thorin.
