”There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” -Ernest Hemingway
The year is 2032, and as usual war is ravaging the world. The weak are defenseless in the face of those with power. They raise their hands up to the sky and scream, “Save us!” but it falls upon deaf ears. The superpowers in the world with all their military might, stand with their hands tied to help those in need, so it falls upon those willing to do the most dangerous of missions to fight on their behalf. They do not do this out of the kindness of their hearts, but for the money that will fill their bank accounts with so many zeros. No matter your past, or your reason for leaving it behind, the path of war always calls back it’s faithful.

Skills: (You can choose up to 4.)
CQC Soldiers who have been trained in CQC are able to perform more potent takedowns on multiple targets while also being able to take down enemies silently. Having this skill grants access to a more armored sneaking suit.
Up Close Soldiers with the Up Close skill gain access to SMGs and shotguns. They also gain access to a ballistic knife.
Sniper Soldiers with sniper training are capable of using high powered rifles. Snipers are also able to wear location-specific camouflage which gives them incredibly increased stealth ratings while laying in compatible terrain.
Assault Soldiers with the assault skill are able to use assault rifles. Assaults can also wear a lightly armoured uniform that protects from small arms fire while still allowing some form of concealment.
Heavy Weapons Soldiers with heavy weapons training have access to light machine guns, grenade launchers, and rocket launchers. They are also able to competently use mounted weaponry including the minigun on the helicopter. A heavy weapons soldier gains the option to wear a state of the art heavily armored suit designed to withstand most dangers presented by modern combat.
Technical Expert Technical Experts are capable of disrupting electronics and hacking terminals in a non-suspicious manner, allowing them to sabotage certain things without raising alarms.
Demolitions A soldier trained in demolitions is able to use high powered explosives including mines and C4. They are also capable of disarming explosives.
Medical A soldier trained in medical aide is able to carry more healing sprays and apply them more effectively. They are also capable of performing operations such as removing bullets while on the field.
Survivalist This skill allows a soldier to survive in harsh environments via makeshift camps and preparing meals using nearby flora and fauna. In addition to this, a soldier with the survivalist skill is more resistant to injuries, taking both less damage and recovering from them faster.
Stealth All soldiers that are part of Foxhound are capable of stealth, but there are some who have undergone special training in order to allow them to pass through populated areas unseen and unheard. This skill not only gives an innate boost to your stealth rating, but also grants access to the iconic sneaking suit.
Pack Mule While allowing a soldier to carry extra gear on their person with only slight decreases to their stealth rating, a pack mule may also bring a large backpack containing extra gear for both them and their team to use.
Missions work in several different ways. There are three types of missions, with a collaborative way of starting each one!
1st Main Missions, these missions contribute mostly to the story line and push the plot forwards. Every decision made will have a lasting effect throughout the rest of the RP. All players are able to go on this mission at the same time. In fact, it is encouraged as to keep everyone up to date and gaining themselves notoriety for the completion of said missions. (Only certain missions are buddy capable and will be noted as such at the beginning of the mission.)
2nd Side Ops, Side ops are normally boiled down to at most 2-3 characters, and a buddy if they opt to take one. These are not essential and completely optional, though sometimes going on these missions can help you in main missions as well.
3rd Solo Ops, These are single player operations that can only be taken on by ONE character. They are extremely dangerous missions with high payoffs in terms of gear, buddies, and other secret rewards. Failing them usually means death.
Equipment for missions will be decided on players individually at the start of each mission. It is in Foxhound’s best interests to keep things on an even keel so that depending on how things go they can react appropriately. Some equipment will be based on skills and may not be taken by those that do not meet the requirements.
Buddy’s are special allies that do not actually join the players on missions, they work as support from a distance normally or even just through comms. Some buddies can and will get more involved with missions, but only for short periods of time as they are usually very powerful. Buddies are normally reserved only for side ops, but can be used in main missions when specified.
1: Characters can and will be injured or die, based on player actions during missions. Don’t blame me if you get shot in the head for trying to sneak past an automated turret before hacking it.(However if you die, when/if you make a new character we will compensate/reward you for your perseverance within our RP.) 2: Arguing is not allowed, though polite debate is, so raise your pinky when you drink that tea. 3: GM/Co-GM word is usually law, though we are reasonable people… To a degree.. Sometimes.. We’re nice. 4: Be reasonable making your characters, no one is Solid Snake here, yet. 5: We’re not going to be able to keep track of every action your character does, we’re not going to micromanage you, so keep it reasonable with what you do. This is a story, you’re not trying to get the high score. So screw up sometimes, or succeed it’s up to you. But if we catch you effectively godmodding we may just have to lay down the hell of MGS on you thick. 6: This is not a Romance RP, though I suppose romance can and likely will happen, though the furthest i want this to get taken is some heavy petting making out etc, but no you know.. Mounting the old hot todger with the dangly banger. Take that junk to PMs. 7: When we say don’t post in the IC, don’t post. It means something epic is about to happen.

Hey guys, feel free to ask questions and the like in the OOC. We'll be tweaking and adding to what we've posted already to make things more clear/sort out any typos that we've missed. We ask that you share your CS in the OOC first for us to take a look at it before you post it in the Characters tab.
Physical Fitness Profile: (F,E,D,C,B,A with A Being best, F being worst) ****Strength (Standard rank of a Foxhound is C) ****Endurance (Standard rank of a Foxhound is C) ****Stamina (Standard rank of a Foxhound is B) ****Agility (Standard rank of a Foxhound is B)
Regarding the Physical Fitness Profile, how are we permitted to deviate from given examples? Obviously marking each condition with an F would create a character incapable of rising from the couch. Marking all categories with an A would make the character superman. What method of adjustments to your examples, should we use?

The ratings that we have given are the ideal for a Foxhound operative, though you can deviate as much as you want (Within reason of course). Your character is a highly trained soldier and so it's up to you to determine exactly what kind of training they underwent in regards to what skills they have or what form of combat they specialize in. So while keeping in mind that the ratings are in relation to Foxhound ideals, F could very well be basic physical training on a more civilian level, while E-C are what you'd expect from someone with a more strict/intense fitness regime, with B-A being on your way to peak physical condition. There's nothing wrong with a character having ratings lower than C, as they will very quickly gain the skills required to meet and exceed Foxhound standards.
I hope that explains it well, let me know if you have any other questions.
@Rekaigan This looks pretty good to me, but we'll see what @The Emperors Blade thinks before putting it in the Characters tab. We're still messing about with CS related stuff so we don't want to rush into everything just yet.
Does the japanese military still exist in the PMC-dominated world of Metal Gear? It doesn't really exist today, ever since 1945 and the end of the second world war. Just the Japanese Self-defense force, and that seems like exactly the kind of thing a PMC would be only too happy to take over.
And i was trying to tie in my poncho-wearing sapper into canon PMCs, but oh well.
The Japanese SDF and Maritime force would indeed more than likely still exist due to US Involvement in Japanese military. The two major powers being US and Russia during this world at large while others having militaries these are the two most powerful, and a lot of countries operationally used PMCs to fight on their behalf so that they do not have to risk their own home military. So yes the Japanese SDF would still exist even in this PMC controlled world.
We're going to be able to advance beyond our current status in the RP, yes? Get some better gear and weapons (maybe a suspiciously-similar flightsuit)? I assume so, I just want to make sure I'll actually be able to make the character I want to make.
