[OOC] Mid/High Casual - Divinus: The Deity Roleplay Mk.II

I am torn on my opinion over the initial "world building" scene happening or not, they are always so confusing and full of things and likely somehow both stale up and go out of control at the same time, its a pattern with all three Divinus. Wonder how that would go with free, but I would advise for a strong hand of Mater, if we are allowing gods to create the world, one wish and you are out of the room or something like that.

My main inspiration for the Vault is to give gods the opportunity to add things to the universe a la the Codex / womb of the world scene in this game, but in a more structured way that can be discussed with the players out of character, and can apply to characters that join late. That way extradimensional stuff like the Mechanism of Change, the Gap, the Hells of Time, and the Godkiller are hopefully a little more democratic. So while Lei might get pretty busy in the first turn or two, there won't be much of a Shattering Disunity scene...

Here's the prose intro for Divinus Lite.

In The Beginning...

A solemn wind disturbed a dune of stellar ash, sweeping dead stars, like dust, across the galactic sea. The thing that looked like a man gazed on, wishing it all away.

"Why?" said the thing that looked like a girl. "Why did we let it happen this way?"

"Because we were afraid," said the thing that looked like a man. "Because we wanted them to live, and never gave them room to breathe."

"Then let them have it," said the thing that looked like a girl, clenching her quivering hands into fists. "Let them have it all. Let them make this world their own; let no limits be upon them. Let them laugh and cry and hate. Let them go out there and be happy," said the thing that looked like a girl, laying her hands on the thing that impaled the man. "Set them free."

"You know not what you do."

"I don't care," said she.

The thing that looked like a girl wrenched the javelin from his chest and raised a great cry. Then she hurled it into the darkness, where it tore a wound so bright that quenched stars lit in its gaze. She braced as the winds of dawn blazed against her, burning her, igniting the dune and the body and all the stars therein, blowing it apart and carrying its dust into a new galaxy.

She stretched her hands against the force of the wind, and felt a mass growing where the gale met her palms; and when the mass grew too great to hold back, she stretched out her other hand, and a smaller mass grew there; and when the gale overcame her they slipped from her palms and she tumbled back, laughing, as the two orbs spun one around the other.

As they fell into the cool distance, she grabbed the greater mass in her hands and twisted it; she felt it warm, and fizz. She clutched its warmth to her chest, and kissed it, and the moisture of her lips enveloped it.

And the thing that looked like a girl fell onto its surface, where the sun warmed her still, and she laughed, and her joy rose on the horizon in a hot, clean blue that covered the sky. And she struck her palm at the ocean, and a plume of cyan entered it. Again and again she struck, dancing along the shore, until the sea was filled with life and oxygen.

Then she fell to her knees, exhausted.

"Take it!" said the thing that looked like a girl, laughing as the tears streaked down her face. "Come and take it all."

Lasis is, essentially, an artist at heart. She is extremely rebellious to any type of authority, and is malcontent to take orders from others. Due to this, she is known as the Patron of Rebellion, or more flatteringly, the Curator of Innovation. She, however, genuinely has good at heart, looking to improve people's lives by challenging social order and societal norms. She prefers peaceful means to rebel, however is not above violence if she deems it absolutely necessary.

Generally Lasis chooses to appear as a small wooden golem, dressed in a cloak and pants, with a white undershirt. A book always dangles from a strap, and she carries with her a wooden pyramid at all times.

We could always excuse the extraordinary power used by Level 1 lite-gods at the start by saying that much of it had to do with Fate and Mater lending them the power necessary to create an entire universe to their liking. So the basic laws etc. of the universe will be created by the gods as with Mk.II

Unless Mater creates a basic intelligent species with which the newborn gods can go about playing and developing into different species.

I'm... Pretty strongly inclined not to do either of these. The former sounds vague and inflexible, and I'm generally opposed to any kind of 'baseline' fauna. *

I think it could work if the world initiated as a cold desert or just water or seas of sand, the cool gods congregate in one area, create a small oasis of life, each one flexing their divine muscle, and then from there, life spreads to the rest of the planet. The outcasts, shy, and edgy, could go and make their own areas with pool tables and punk music, send just an ambassador, or act in the shadows.

Such area would work in a similar way to the initial "nothingness" of the previous divinus MKs, except once it is done and the world has life, this original land could become a permanent "godly land", legendary to mortals, coveted by many gods, so on. (though it would take some turns, or for example, if there is no god of seas, it could stay permanently as a land where sand separates continents instead of water, so on)

It's pretty, much what happened in this RP Gods did their whole making the Codex and laws and whatnot, but it was really Fate and Amul who did the creating itself.

But yeah, maybe that way of doing things is a bit vague and inflexible ^^' long-winded and confusing as well, as Capy pointed out

Just curious. Is this Divinus lite still launching in the Free section? I don't mean to judge, but all of your characters, not to mention the depth of the rules, really speak more to me of the Casual section than the Free section.

While I know the rules are complex and our Character Sheets are rather big, I vote to keep it to the FREE SECTION.

I can see that the free section has posts that are three paragraphs, sometimes slightly longer, so it allows for some detail for those of us who are verbose bastards. Cough.
I don't want Divinus Lite to end up taking up our efforts & attention and effectively supplanting Mk.II. If we wanna write big stuff, Mk.II is here. If we want to write something short'n'quick, Lite is for that.

ANYWAY GUYS

If you're wondering why I'm so insistent on using random terrain for the empty planet (and if you didn't know that I am, well, I am), here's why. Forgive the equirectangular projection.

Elevation and water map

In my opinion, the only distinctive geographical features that developed on the blank Mk. II Galbar map were the Shalanoir region, the upper curve of the Ironhearts surrounding the Mahd basin (Venomweald/Firewind/Mangrove), and the updated Mesathalassa and upper Metatic. Everything else was just massive blobs.

Meanwhile, look at this thing! It has straits, isthmuses, islands, plateaus, inland seas large and small, more than enough ocean to navigate and land to explore. It even has one of those mythical ring-shaped mountain ranges everyone loves so much!

Given the extent to which gods can changed landmasses even with the nerfs I'm working into the OP, there's still plenty of room to make everything you want, but even the spaces you don't hand-craft still have shape and character. And we can settle on a scale for the planet, to boot, so people can actually get a vague idea of how large all these things are.

So yeah. Randomly generated land-and-water maps for me please.
