[IC] Young Justice/Young Avengers: Dimension Shift

As Lex Luthor's men crowded in on the young superhero team, their leader twirled his eskrima sticks before cracking them hard against the men as they stepped into him one at a time. The large, drawn out cave system along with the tail end of summer made the combat grounds humid even in the evening hours. Still the group known as Young Justice were fighting through the hoard with precision. Finally making it to the end where Lex Luthor gently began to hold in his grasp the stone tablet with blue gem at its center.

“Alright Lex put down the freaky Mayan artifact and just walk away.” Nightwing sternly told Lex who only looked back un-amused. Even without his power suit he didn't seem to take the threat very seriously as he quietly picked up the artifact, which only made Nightwing more mad. “Its seven of us against just you Lex, don't do something reckless.”

“Who said I was even thinking of such a thing?” Lex asked aloud as he grasped the artifact in his hands, cradling it gently. “You don't even know what this is... do you?”

-Central America, Mayan Ruins-

-September 4th, Just after sunset-

The Doombots crowded in on the Young Avengers. Their leader angled his shield to defend the one called Wiccan from a palm-shot blast as he prepared his magic. The ricocheted blast took out one android but another quickly took its place. The deep, drawn out maze of caverns, each a previous chamber of sacrifice hundreds of years ago, along with the last days of sweltering summer heat made the entire area dripping with humidity even in the evening hours. An adolescent assembly of Avengers were assaulting across the accumulated automatons with aplomb. Finally making it to the end where Victor von Doom deftly gripped the stone circle with cerulean shine at its center.

“Latveria has no sanctioned patronage to this region of the world, religious or otherwise. Return the artifact and calmly disperse.” Patriot evenly informed Doom who only looked back as amused as a steel mask can. Even if he wasn't wearing his technomancer armor, which he always did, he didn't seem to take the threat very seriously as he began to scan the artifact, which only made Patriot more Stern. “You are outnumbered and out-gunned, don't do something foolish.”

“The only fool here is you, boy.” Doom replied as he turned the artifact in his hands, scanning the back next. “You haven't the slightest clue why you are here or what you are trying to stop. If Captain America was the government lapdog, you are certainly no more than it's prize breeding bitch.”

Suddenly though the artifact began to glow heavily as Lex's confident look suddenly turned to that of surprise and almost horror. Suddenly the room began to rumble and quake, and the dust rose causing Nightwing to cough. "What the hell did you do Lex?!" Nightwing called out. Only to not get a response from Lex who looked just as genuinely surprised. Before Lex could say something though a blue portal appeared before him. In its very center was a man in some kind of green hooded cloak. The portal seemingly only grew more powerful though. Causing Lex to get pulled in by its powerful force.

"We need to get out of here now!" Nightwing called back to the others. Trying to run out of the room though proved impossible. As the portal only grew more and more powerful. The force was hard enough that Nightwing, even grasping a pole, couldn't hold on and got pulled in.

Suddenly though, the artifact began to glow heavily as Dooms scans were a source of energy of any kind more advanced that the heat of a torch in a hundred years turned the doctors face to that of surprise while Eli look on in horror. Rapidly the room began to rumble as the rubble rose, causing Patriot to cover his face and wish he had brought a mask. "I warned you to put it back!" Patriot called out, only to be ignored by Doom who looked just fascinated as Th Avengers leader looked worried. Before Doom could say something, a blue portal or Kirby Particles appeared before him. In its very center was a bald man in some kind of green trenchcoat. The portal seemingly only grew more powerful though as Victor sent one of his doombots in to send surveillance of the atmosphere.

"Avengers, Fall back!" Eli ordered the others. He was the last to leave, trying to give everyone else the chance to get out of the room if possible. As the portal only grew more and more powerful y the second. The force was hard enough that Patriot, planting his feet wide with shield to protect the others, still got pulled in.

Slowly Nightwing started to come too, coughing from the dust coating his lungs as he struggled to get back up from the weird force that pulled him into that... whatever the hell thing it was. Once he was back up right he was able to get a good chance to glance around. Realizing it was still the temple's underground but something felt very wrong. He couldn't place a finger on it though. So for now he just had to use the detective skills any bat family member worth their grain in salt has.

That was when things got... weird. He glanced over and immediately his attention went to how some of the Young Justice members were there. Kyle, Superboy, Raven, and Beast Boy were all accounted for. The others however were seemingly replaced by some massive green guy thing with wings and someone in the most garish red and blue suit his ever seen. "The hell?" Nightwing started to glance over the two strange men before reaching up to an earpiece. "Oracle come in, something weird just happened... Oracle?" Nightwing realized that something didn't seem right at all. As all he was getting in return was static. Oracle's signal could reach them earlier, was it some kind of interference? "Oracle come in... ORAC-" Suddenly the large green guy was waking up and Nightwing had to hop away from him.

"Gahh..." Hulkling knew today was going to suck, Speed was being particularly a pain in the ass, and a planned romantic evening had to be cut short because of Dr. Doom of all people. With a grunt Hulkling stood back upright, letting his body go back to its usual human form before he looked over. Glancing at Nightwing before suddenly glancing again. "Hey wait, who the heck are you?" Teddy asked trying to shake dust out of his hair.

Eventually, Patriot's body stopped squeezing and screaming at him started to look around. He struggled to get back up from the weird force that pulled him into that blue haze but something was off, not just the sense of time loss but like the way his body played in an artificial environment in training sessions at the avengers tower. He came to the conclusion that they was still the temple's underground but something felt very wrong. Doom was nowhere in sight, nor any of his doombots, nor any of the carbon scoring from the blasts either.

That was when things got odd. He glanced over and demanded a Sit-Rep. "Avengers, Roll Call! Anybody transformed or body-swapped?" Patriot started to glance over the strange forms before reaching up to an earpiece. "Attention all avengers on all frequencies, Doom is missing. I repeat, we lost doom, Activate tracking systems based around energy anomaly at my location in the last 24 hours." Unfortunately, all he was getting in return was static. It was subtle at first, But patriot finally noticed how they were being illuminated in the dark cavern, there was a glowing green lantern in the corner of the room.

They had finally managed to corner Lex Luthor in a cave in Mexico. Quite a wild goose chase it had been, but now he was in their sights. Raven floated behind Nightwing, her long cape hiding her body and her bird like hood covering her head and most of her face. She left the heroic speeches to the leader or any of the others, but they weren't really her thing. While the leader did his thing, Raven tried to best to scan the nearby vicinity, trying to make sure that they weren't being snuck up on but as far as she could tell, the coast was clear. With this they could finally end the chase and maybe she could finally spend sometime meditating the peace and quiet.

As the dust began to rise, Raven raised her hands and a black power began to flow from them, forming into a sheild-like construct that protected her from the dust. When the portal appeared behind Luthor, Raven let out a genuine gasp. "No." She mumbled to herself. Nightwing called for a retreat and she landed, the dark energy moving from her hands to her feet as she attempted to route herself in place, though as he slipping feet told her, for some reason it wasn't working. "What's going on?" She was genuinely surprised as she was pulled closer towards the portal. As she could feel her powers giving out she watched as the leader was sucked into the portal. "Nightwing!" She yelled, trying to reach out for him, before she herself got pulled away.

Raven was second third to come too from Young Justice, mostly being woken up by Nightwing attempting to yell into his earpiece. She groaned softly as she pushed herself into a sitting position. A dizzy spell overtook her and she held her head and closed her eyes, trying to get herself grounded. She had no idea where she was, but where it was, she was unfamiliar with it, which was strange. When she finally felt like she could open her eyes she did so, and stood up slowly, groaning slightly as her brain pulsed. "Gross." She mumbled, before she began to take in what was going on around her.

She slowly walked over to Nightwing, looking around the cave as she did so and eyeing the blond boy across from him. When she finally made it over to them she stopped and closed her eyes, trying to figure out what he was feeling. After her analysis she opened her eyes; yes, he was confused, but it wasn't quite the same confusion that they were feeling and at the moment, he didn't seem hostile. "Nightwing, from what I can tell, he's not hostile. Just confused like we all are." She nodded and looked back at the blond boy. "I do not recognize you, therefore I can only assume that you know where we are perhaps?"

Beast boy was sprinting down a long hallway as a faceless creature was chasing him. Glancing back over his shoulder, he stopped short as he saw just exactly who the creature.. no.. creatures were. Mento, Robotman, Negative Man, Elasti-Girl, and Chief. Beastboy stopped, his face filled with horror as they all just stared at him, their dead eyes glistening. 'why didn't you help us' Chief spoke. 'you could have stopped everything' elasti-girl murmured. They reached for him, their hands turning into claws as they tore away at his flesh before piling on top of his chest so he couldn't breath.

Jolting awake, Beastboy let out a shout as he realized a giant rock was laying on his body. A few minutes passed before he turned into T-rex again and shook the rock off his body before shifting back to his normal human form. It took him several moments to regain his composure, trembling as he shook his head to clear his mind. Thinking back, his heart still racing, he recalled what had happened a few moments earlier.

They'd cornered Lex Luthor and he'd shifted into a T-rex. The tiny arms were pretty much useless, but the amount of fear this form generated was wonderful. Any of his dinosaur shifts usually made lesser villains run away in fear. He'd been focusing on Lex Luthor as the dust was stirred up around them, and a massive blue portal appeared from nothing and Luther was sucked inside. As Nightwing called for a retreat, he growled, not liking the idea of letting Lex Luthor just escape. However, he could definitely agree he didn't like the idea of being sucked into the portal. He dug his hind claws into the ground, using the weight of his body and swishing his tail to remain in place. However, he soon saw the others getting sucked into the portal, and felt himself slowly being drug backwards by the sheer force of the wind. His muscles tensed as he tried his hardest to fight against the wind. However, as soon as he saw both Nightwing and Raven get sucked into the portal, he stopped, delivering a worried roar in their direction. That moment he turned around, the portal's wind sucked up a rather large rock, which collided with his body, causing him to let go of the ground in a moment of shock. This moment was enough to lift him into the portal and take him to the other side.

And now.. well.. it looked like they were in the same place.. except.. everything felt different. The air smelled different, and there were unfamiliar people scattered on the ground around the titans. Unease filled his thoughts as he scanned the area. "Okay.. Nightwing.. i know you are probably busy.. but i just had to ask. Where the hell are we and why does everything smell like a library? Oh.. and what's with the random people here? Should we attack them? Or.. just stare at each other for a while?"

“Well uh... you're in a temple in Mexico.” Teddy said to Raven as the room went from tense battle to people in costumes standing around and being confused. “I mean I think its still inside a temple in Mexico. But I can't help but think considering what happened I don't even want to know where we are.”

Nightwing glanced back at both Raven and Beast Boy before going back to the blond man before them. Behind the man was Green Lantern who looked like he was struggling with his ring and whatever it was that made it worked. Everything about this situation struck him as bad, but he wasn't sure about the new guy before him. “No don't attack unless him and the...” Nightwing gestured to the guy covered in red and blue. “That...guy... they attack first.” Nightwing could only wish he was a better word smith. Better than Starfire supposedly, but she's an alien so that doesn't really count.

As Teddy paused looking at the guy, the lady, and the shorter green guy, he looked back over at Spider-Man who didn't seem to be conscious yet. He gestured his thumb over to Spider Man. “No thats... wait wait wait who are you guys anyways?” Teddy was confused to say the least.

Glancing back at Hulkling Nightwing started to look around before pointing. “Well I'm Nightwing, this is Raven, that's Beast Boy... behind you is Green Lantern and... wait...” Nightwing started to look around again. “Where are Impulse, Superboy, and Zatanna?” Nightwing asked aloud as suddenly the gravity of the problem started to dawn on him. The group had become separated.

Hulkling suddenly raised an eyebrow. “Wait Superboy? You mean like Superman?”

“Well... yeah.” Nightwing was a bit surprised by the man's not having heard of Superboy, sure his team worked underground and out of public knowledge. But he knew that people generally knew about him and Superboy, some of the others too. This guy though was either playing dumb or something serious happened when they went through that portal. “Raven, Beast Boy, do either of you think you can find the others around here?” He quietly asked the other two while he kept an eye on the two strangers.

Meanwhile though Teddy started to get to Spider-Man's aid. Cradling his upper body to make sure his teammate wasn't dead. That was when the remembered the other thing this 'Nightwing' guy mentioned. “Yeah come to think of it where are Patriot, Stature, Hawkeye, Speed, and...and...” Teddy glanced around again and suddenly felt his heart sink hard. “Wiccan? BILLY!?” Teddy started to look around frantically as he realized shit just got real.

Superboy had been in the back hallway keeping the random henchmen Luther had hired this time away from the rest of the group. He still couldn't stand being around Lex, sure he could say no one could stand being near him but it felt a little different for him. Then he heard shouting and a loud noise coming from the room. He yelled to them, "Hey guys, everything alright in there?"

He didn't hear an answer so he quickly grabbed a shield and put it on hoping Lex hadn't done anything to them. When he rushed into the room the first thing he saw was Beast Boy getting hit by a large rock knocking him into a blue portal, "What the heck!" Superboy tried to slow down but his running and the pull of the portal pulled him in and rocketed him through the portal.

In a test tube Superboy woke up. How did he get there. Where was he before he had gotten there. He couldn't remember anything except for RAGE and ANGER. He wanted to hurt someone. But who? The next thing he notices are three faces staring at him. ATTACK! Why? They looked familiar. Suddenly Superboy jolted awake. He was having that same intense dream he had everytime he used a shield. Only this time it was stronger. He had woken up full of malice and heard voices. Somehow he had ended up back in the corridor. Or had he? These things on the ground weren't the same as what he had been taking out. Something was wrong. He had to find Dick.

Walking down the rest of the hallway he noticed that more had changed. He was making assumptions that weren't good. The shield was still attached making him angrier. Luckily he saw Nightwing, Raven, and Beast Boy before going into a rage. Then he noticed some random new guy yelling for someone named Billy. "Calm down kid. What are you doing in this place anyways?" Turning to Dick, "Whats going on here, Nightwing? Something's off."

Kate fired another arrow at a Doombot. It staggered then toppled over into another, taking that one down too. The young woman was one of the oldest of the Young Avengers. And she kind of felt a little responsible for them. She drew and nocked another arrow to her bow. Well, it was kind of her bow. She had received it from the (then not now) deceased Hawkeye. Not directly. Nor did she receive it directly from Captain America with his blessing. Sometimes thinking about her life made her head hurt.

Kate fired again as she heard Patriot start to speak. He was very nearly an echo of the Captain America 'I disapprove of you' voice. And having been on the receiving end of that voice, she had it on good authority. And it had just the same result when used on the evil guys. Doom protested that they were stupid and useless.

Kate was sure Doom was going to launch himself into one of his monologues. So she twisted and aimed her next arrow at the artifact. Right before she could release it began to glow. Shooting a glowing ancient object of unknown power was probably not the best idea. With another twist Kate released the arrow into another Doombot and kicked another in the same movement. Most of her team was concentrating just on Doom. Leaving her with the mass of Doombots. Because of this she missed the introduction of the portal. She only looked back at Doom as Eli shouted at them to retreat.

Hawkeye was far enough away that she probably could have gotten away. But there'd be no way she'd leave her teammates. She pulled out another arrow and fired it, trying to get it to hit the object. But the pull of gravity was too strong and sucked it into the portal. That was when she began to feel the tug of the portal. The Asian girl tried to moved further away but it was too strong. Kate watched in horror as all her friends got sucked in one by one until it was her turn.

"Worst trip ever." Kate groaned, hand to her head as she came to.

Kate lifted her head and easily spotted Cassie next to her. She reached out and grabbed the shoulder of her friend. "You okay?" While she was doing so she spotted nearly the rest of her team. There was Billy, Eli, and Tommy. But where was Teddy and Spiderman? And who was the lady in fishnets and the kid in the yellow costume?

"Doom!" Kate snapped out not waiting for Cassie's answer. Her head whipped around to where Doom had been only to see nothing. Kate blinked.

Raven nodded to the leader and closed her eyes, concentrating hard as she tried to find their unique energies. Usually it was easier for her but for some reason it felt like she was fighting through static or fog. Her eyes opened when she felt a growing rage coming towards them, but she calmed down when she saw Superboy walk around the corner and the feeling that she was getting from him subsided slightly. She shook her head, "I can only feel seven people in the surrounding area, and that accounts for us." She looked over at Beast Boy, "But there could still be others that.... I don't feel."

The boy across from them started freaking out and although Superboy walked over and attempted to comfort him in a very Superboy-like way, Raven could feel the depths of this fear. This 'Billy' that he was calling for was someone close to him, someone who he deeply cared for. Whether it was family member, friend or lover, she couldn't say for sure at this point but she could feel his terror, the helpless he felt being away from them. She probably could have said something, tried to comfort him, but instead she kept her mouth shut, backing away slightly from the group and the intense emotions that were brewing.

"I'll try to get help." She said simply and raised her hand in front of her, a dark power spinning around it. She was trying to open a portal, perhaps try to find someone who could help, but it was taking a lot more effort than usual. When she felt like enough power had built up she shot it out in an open and empty area of a cave but instead of creating a dark portal like it usually did, it simply fizzled out. This was not good. She tried again but only got the same effect. Now terror began to build in her. She couldn't travel or go get help for her friends or... She stopped herself and took several deep breaths to calm herself down. Everything would be okay, they would find the rest of the team together and get help.

Letting out a sigh she made her way back to the rest of the group, trying to figure out why her portals wouldn't open. The only explanation she could find was that, perhaps, she was still a bit dazed after being sucked into the portal and knocked out. Raven tried to think and find an explanation, but with all the emotions being thrown at her, she couldn't think. Finally she decided to simply give up, but then again, sitting around wasn't helping much either. She wanted to get out of the cave and find help, but leaving her friends behind was a bad idea and she knew that.

Cassie shrunk and jumped onto one of Kate's arrows as she shot it. She leaped just before it hit a doombot and grew flying past the bot and smashed the two behind it into the ground. Fighting through the hordes of fake dooms was irritating but necessary. They had no idea what he was after, only that they needed to stop him. She'd practiced fighting these things in simulations many times but it was still harder when it was the real things despite just being robots. She just had to go off her training and tips she'd received from many of the older superheroes.

They finally caught up to the real Doom. Eli gave a warning to Doom who was holding some sort of artifact. Doom barely gave notice to them other than a few insults that riled Cassie up a little. She was ready to launch a large fist right at Doom when the tablet started glowing. Eli gave Doom a sort of I told you so line and Cassie said, "I don't think now's the time for that."

That was when Eli gave the order to retreat. She made sure a few went ahead and ran out only turning to see if Eli and Kate were able to get out fine. That's when she saw Eli getting sucked in and she tried to reach for him only to get lifted off her feet and pulled towards the portal after him.

She woke up moments after Eli and Kate when Kate had tapped her on the shoulder. "Ugh, what happened?" First things she noticed were a highly alert Kate, a frustrated Eli, all the others knocked out on the floor with the whole room being lit up in a green light. "Guys. Please tell me you know what's going on. Umm, also where are Peter and Teddy?"

Speed was running at full tilt tripping up doom bots while Eli gave one of his high and mighty speaches. 'Doom won't listen, he never listens. This is taking too long' he thought. But Patriot was the leader and the team got mad when he did it his way. He went back to humming Another one bites the dust in his head and attacking the doombots.

It was too late when speed saw the artifact start to glow. 'Forget this' he thought racing at full tilt to knock the artifact from Dooms hand. He was mid stride when he heard Patriot call for a retreat which sounded like a movie plaid at ten percent speed. 'Crap' was all he thought now back pedaling as hard as he could. It was to late for him though the portal picked him up at the moment he changed directions. He tried to reach out for a handhold or a friend's hand but met only air. 'Well this will be good.' He thought.

He woke up, his head feeling groggy. Looking around he heard Patriot yelling orders 'shocker' he thought. Then he saw Hawkeye and Stature. 'Ok, ok. Four so far but where is...?' His thoughts stopped mid stream. Speed stood up and looked around as fast as he could. 'There.' His excitement grew and faded equally as fast.

He saw Wiccan but he didn't see him moving. Speed sped over to Wiccan and shook his shoulder. "I know your slow little brother, but it's time to get up." He said trying not to sound as urgent as he felt.

It wasn't until he reached Billy that Speed even paid any attention to his surroundings. There was a strange green light, people he didn't recognize, and come to think about it this place didn't feel right. Looking over his shoulder he said "Uh, Patriot? Where are we?"

Wiccan was growing frustrated as he shot out blast after blast, but it seemed like it wasn't even making a dent in those Doombots. Every time he blasted one into oblivion, another just took it's place. Billy levitated up a few feet and focused yet another ball of magical energy into his palms, this one a bit bigger than the ones before. He knew this could potentially drain him, but they were getting cornered and it was the only way. After charging his magic, he released giant blast of his magical energy at multiple bots destroying most of them with ease. But of course, more bots began to take it's place. "Aw man screw this!"

He managed to free himself from the Doombots in order to meet up with the others who had probably closed in on Victor. As he suspected, they had him cornered and were ready to retrieve the artifact. Billy was ready to stun Doom and retract it with a telekinetic pull until he heard their leader tell them to fall back. That's when everything went south. A portal began to open up and it took no effort for the wind to suck Wiccan toward it since he was already in mid flight. Without a chance to fight it off, the portal winds latched on to his cape where he inevitably was sucked through with his last words being, "TEDDY!"

"How much do you love me? I don't think you love me more than I love you," Billy teased as he through a popcorn kernel at Teddy's nose. They were having a picnic on top of a gorgeous hill that Billy teleported them to. He had always wanted to sit here and relax with the man he cared deeply for. "Thiiiiiiis much," Teddy said as his hands turned huge and monstrous, holding them out wide. Billy blankly stared at him and turned away. "Aww you're so cute. Isn't this perfect?" He gestured out to the view. "I want to live in a place like this, don't you agree?" He turned to Teddy only to find he wasn't there. "Teddy? Teddy where are you!?"

Billy finally came to, mumbling 'Teddy' under his breath. His vision was a bit blurred at first, but his eyes finally adjusted to find his brother Speed trying to wake him up. "I know your slow little brother, but it's time to get up." Wiccan moaned in pain as he tried to sit up, rubbing the back of his head as if he got hit by a 18-wheeler truck. "Oh my god, my head...Tommy?" He wasn't quite all there yet. When he finally was in his right mind he looked around and noticed things were different. He could feel it in his spirit that they weren't exactly in Kansas anymore. He looked around noticing some of his teammates were missing but replaced with others who he didn't recognise. Without much hesitation, he began to telepathically scan them to see who they were. The one in fishnets who went by Zatanna had immense energy. She was magical like himself but her magic seemed to be different. It wasn't something he was used to or ever felt before. The one in yellow named Bart could move fast. Really fast just like Tommy. "Tommy...where are we? And where's Teddy? I can't feel him anywhere."

Wiccan, check, speed, check, Stature, check, Hawkeye check, two unknown. Carefully Eli put his Kite shield on his back and kept his hands open. There were too many unknowns to act rashly, now was the time of cool heads and calm orders.

"Avengers assemble. V formation behind me. As for you two, We're avengers, defenders of earth. Protectors, heroes. Who are you?"

(Nightwing, Hulkling, Green Lantern, Spider-Man, Raven, Superboy, Beast Boy)

Green lantern slowly stood, not even wasting energy on levitation, he shook his head as he inquired to the ring.
"Adjust ring output to 11 percent, dedicate one percent to constant scanning this planet only for any energy signature matching the energy spike in this location in the last 24 hours. Define familiar unknown."

"Adjusting...Scanning... Definition: Unknown elemental compositions for earth detected, known elemental compositions missing... Scanning.... Beast boy tilted his head, his tail flicking back and forth as he took better stock of his surroundings. Nightwing, Green Lantern, Superboy and Raven. Well this sucked.. he managed to be stuck with the least entertaining four people on the team. Nightwing was... Nightwing.. he didn't really know Green Lantern that well.. Superboy tended to get way too angry way to easily, and Raven.. well.. he couldn't really get a good read on her, she tended to keep her emotions in check.

Shifting quickly into an Elephant, he used the sensitive trunk to try and pick up the scent of the others. Other than their lingering scent on their clothing, there was no hint that any of them were in the area. Moving around the room, he tried to sniff them out again, maybe he missed something. But that was impossible, seeing as the elephant has the best scent receptors in the animal kingdom. Shifting quickly back into a human, Beast Boy shook his head. "From what my nose said? They aren't here. Its just the seven of us.. which kind of makes me wonder where the other guys went. Definitely not anywhere around here. Maybe they decided to ditch us."

Beastboy then let his eyes wander, focusing on Raven as she attempted and failed to open a portal with her powers. Panic crossed her face for a moment. This was extremely concerning to beast boy, as she was always the rational and calm one in the face of pretty much everything. Wandering over beside her, he tilted his head to get a good look at her face. "You alright?" Even if they didn't get along sometimes, she was sill his team mate, and he didn't want her feeling upset or anything.

Flinching as Green Lantern said something, Beast boy sighed, waiting for whatever news he had to tell them. "Wait.. did your ring thing say something about alternate earth?"

Upon the Young Justice’s journey to catching up with Lex Luthor in order to defeat the man Zatanna found herself more worried about the stone than anything else. Being labeled as one of the many powerful sorceresses around, the young woman knew slightly more about the blue stone than the other members were given, But truly not every little detail about it. While the stone may have a simple yet delicate appearance, it was a stone not to be tampered with by the wrong hands or anyone else for that matter -of course- and she pondered in her head about what would happen if Lex had managed to get a hold of the item himself. She figured in her opinion that it would probably create some sort of unknown butterfly effect she hadn’t yet dwelled on and ran next to her fellow teammate, Nightwing in order to take in the scene which awaited them up ahead.

In simpler terms, the young sorceress simply explained that the blue stone was,”One of the most powerful artifact no villain should get their hands on”, So it wasn’t much of a surprise in her opinion to see Lex standing rather nonchalantly beside the stone before grabbing onto it slowly. That was when the surprise came--There seemed to be no damage done immediately after a regular and mundane man cradled the thing in his large hands and she heard the leader of the group speak.

“Alright Lex put down the freaky Mayan artifact and just walk away.”

Zatanna immediately looked at him. ”Oh--And you think he’s going to actually do that after getting this far himself !?” She said to the male in a hiss as the sight of Lex holding onto the stone became increasingly unsettling. She felt something very off-putting about his appearance, and more importantly about his ulterior motives over the stone. He was able to hold it without anything happening to him, but it was the unknown motive he had behind this whole scheme. Why was he suddenly after an artifact so powerful?

“Tsk.”

That same poker/smug face as usual. It was the face which she despised most from Lex, for she knew that with that blue stone in his hand -- He would soon wreak havoc amongst the realms of sorcery and magic, possibly creating a sort of unbalance even. Again, unknown butterfly effects were soon to be made and she stood there anxiously, waiting for the leader to give an all clear in order to attack. Or even for Lex to do the first move and allow them to attack.

Then suddenly, things had happened way too quickly to comprehend on time. The stone had a sort of reaction which opened up a portal and forced Lex in. The young woman in fishnets gasped as she took a step forward. “NO!” She shouted. Before she knew it Nightwing had been dragged into the direction of the portal by force, then Raven who had held onto their leader. Zatanna quickly outstretched an arm as she reached for Raven’s cape and began to hold onto it as tightly as she could, but the portal only began to take her teammates more forcefully than ever and before the woman knew it, they were gone. Just like that, the portal had closed and Zatanna looked behind her to see if anyone else had managed to stay back. But to her surprise, she only found impulse. Just one member it seemed, and she ran to his aid. “Hey--You alright ?” She uttered with concern before giving him a smile.

Then Zatanna heard multiple voices which belonged to unfamiliar people as she was kneeling beside Bart.

"Worst trip ever."
"Uh, Patriot? Where are we?"
"Tommy...where are we? And where's Teddy? I can't feel him anywhere."

Her eyes shifted from her current and only teammate as of now, to five other people who all spoke amongst each other. They seemed familiar to one another, and to Zee’s knowledge she didn’t see these people with Young Justice here before. Better yet, she’s never even seen them anywhere. There was an archer girl, a speedster or teleporter as he appeared from one place to another.. and a young male, who had some sort of mystical aura around him. Zatanna examined the group as she clearly raised an eyebrow out of curiosity before her thoughts were snapped out of.

"Avengers assemble. V formation behind me. As for you two, We're avengers, defenders of earth. Protectors, heroes. Who are you?"

With this current information, Zatanna gave a look of confusion that was clear. She slowly stood, keeping herself alert for any upcoming threats and tilted her head back. “Defenders of Earth?” She inquired. “Avengers..?” the girl in fishnets repeated before shaking her head and waving her hands up in the air in order to move the subject along. The name did indeed sound like a threat, what team uses 'Avengers'!? But then again.. The man who appeared to be their 'leader' did say they were 'defenders of earth'. Zatanna placed her arms back in a crossed position across her chest and stood there for a moment. If they were truly antagonists, they would've attacked by now and never take the time to introduce themselves--Or at least the leader for that matter.. But she had never heard of such a group name in this universe.

“I’m Zatanna Zatara of Young Justice.. But I wasn’t notified of any other team aiding us.. Especially one called the ‘Avengers’.” Zee stated as she looked around again for her teammates, before looking back at Patriot and widening her eyes. Wait… Zee then began to look at the emptiness behind her and the group in front of her and pointed. “There’s five of you.. And five of mine are missing.” she whispered to herself halfway through her sentence. “Incredible..” She said to herself as she held onto her head, pondering. This can’t be… Were her teammates replaced somehow? Or was this all a coincidence?

Zatanna’s other outfit was back at the Headquarters, so simply conjuring up stuff was slightly impossible if she didn’t have her hat. She felt her teammates around, as if they were here… But.. she didn’t feel them actually here with her at the same time. It was a complex situation she was taking in and she furrowed her eyebrows in silence, thinking as she bit her lip before looking up at the group.

Kate's head whipped back to Cassie as she stirred. She could only offer a small shake of her head to her friend's questions. Kate had no idea what was going on. Everything was weird and strange and just wrong. The whole world felt a little off. It was small things mostly. The temple was different, but it was also kind of the same.

Kate regained her feet, picked up her bow and offered a hand to Cassie. Of course that was when Eli started barking orders. The older teen sighed and moved into position behind their fearless leader. He had hefted his shield, replaced it on his back, and took up a firm stance. He barked his words at the two teens that were strangers. The girl in the fishnet tights blinked owlishly at them. She looked just as confused as Kate felt.

As the girl mused out loud Kate followed her line of thought. She wasn't close enough to hear what the girl was saying, but reading lips came in really handy. Kate would have to thank Clint if she ever got out of this alive. Or even returned to her own world. Because that apparently was a thing now. But ten again, elaborate ruses were all the rage.

"Are you seriously thinking we're from different Dimensions?" Kate asked Fishnet Girl. "Isn't that kind of a logical jump not really supported by all the known facts? I'm a firm believer in Occam's Razor, but you still haven't eliminated the less complex solutions."

Spider-Man (Rather known as Peter Parker) was not having a great day. Spidey swinged from a web, and kicked into a doombot. A loud metal crunch was heard as the bot short-circuited and fell over. "Ouch! That must've hurt." Spidey added. Another ran at him, but didn't get very close as Spidey slammed a big, heavy, web ball into it's face. If that was a person, that would've been probably hard to watch.

He uppercutted a bot, then grabbed it by the neck and chokeslammed it back into the ground. Another ran at him, only to be roundhouse kicked. These bots didn't stand a chance at all. He fired a web into a drone's arm, and ripped its arms off.

Seriously though, someone needs to call the mechanical ambulance, because when the Young Avengers are done with these hunks of junk, they're gonna need one. Badly.

Spidey fired webs into the walls with both hands, and pulled himself up. "Watch out! A Spider Slingshot coming through!" Spidey let go of the web, letting him fly right into the robot's chest, he practically went through the robot. Both of his feet were stuck in the bot's chest. The lights in the robot's eyes dimmed out, and it fell. Spidey pulled his feet out of the bot, and made two large webs and slammed both of them on the right and left side of a bot's head, ultimately crushing it like a bug.

"Boing! Boing! Boing!" Spidey yelled, as he threw himself around, using bots' heads as trampolines to jump on. He landed on the ground in his iconic pose. Four bots swarmed around him. "Oh nuts..." He said, looking around. The white eyes in his mask were widened. The bots ran at him.

"Sike!"

He spinned on his head, kicking their heads off of their bodies. Spidey was surprisingly enjoying this. These doombots weren't very worthy of the name. One jumped at Spidey, and he turned around. "Uh oh...!" It pounced him, punching him in the face.

"Gah!" A normal fist would hurt a lot coming from a bad guy or criminal. Now imagine a metal fist as 10x more painful than a normal fist.

Spidey then grabbed the bot, and pushed it off, he fired a web into and pulled it closer to him, clotheslining it. Hard.

"Doombots? More like junkbots!" He yelled, while practically RKOing a doombot. Then...well something happened, something that was unexplainable even for him, as he has seen spiderverses, and different worlds.

A black hole or something opened, sucking everything and everyone in. "Whoa...! WHAT THE!? WHOAAAAA!" Spidey fired a web at a wall, trying to hold on for dear life as he watched his friends get pulled in.

"NO!" He yelled reaching out for his friends, but he wasn't safe as any of them. The web snapped.

"AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!l!" Spidey was sucked into the hole, then everything went black.

Spidey slowly started to wake up. He couldn't remember much, all he could remember was being sucked in a black hole that he didn't even get a look at. He felt like he fell off a building without his powers and webshooters, ten times. Spidey groaned loudly, and his vision started getting clearer. He was temporarily startled by a green skinned blonde brute, only to realize it was his teammate, Hulking holding him. "...Wha...?? Uuugh..." He then noticed a woman that had a female magician outfit, w-was that Wiccan? "..Wiccan, dude...did you get...gender-swapped...?" Spidey was dazed.

"Superboy don't worry, right now we have bigger fish to fry. Green Lantern what did that ring just say?" Nightwing realized what it said fairly quickly though. But he felt like he couldn't believe it. An alternate dimension? It did amazingly answer some things about what had happened. Nightwing's concern was WHAT reality were they in? Nightwing had seen Sliders before, he didn't want to even start guessing what kind of crazy crap was in this reality.

"Superboy..." glancing over Teddy suddenly saw Superboy's shirt, and instantly recognized the logo adorned on his shirt. He was about to say something when Spider-Man in his grasp came too, mumbling and mistaking the girl for Wiccan. She was certainly no Wiccan Teddy could attest to THAT. Still Spider-Man sounded like he was delirious.

"Is he... is he okay?" Nightwing asked glancing down at the two.

"Yeah hold on..." Teddy rear backed a palm that was slightly enlarged, and with a good swift motion slapped Spider-Man right across the cheek. "Come on Peter come back to us buddy!" Teddy calmly said as he was ready with another slap for good measure. Spidey held his cheek from the slap, and noticed that another was coming. "Wait, I'm good! Teddy, wait!" He sputtered, he did not want another slap from the Hulking. Seriously, those hurt...alot. Fortunately, the slap did wake Spidey back to reality and out of his deliriousness.

"Okay okay... just got to be through is all..." Teddy replied holding his hands up in self defense. Thankfully Spider-Man could handle his power, he did that to someone like say... Speed, without a warning. He'd knock that psychopath's head around on his neck like a tornado.

Nightwing started to glance down at Spider-Man and his mind started churning to where he had seen the costume before. Since now he had the realization that they very well could be somewhere different. "Hey wait a second..." Nightwing pointed down at Spider-Man. "Spider-Man right? Miles Morales?" Spidey looked at Nightwing like he just called him a random name, which he did. "Uuhh, who's Miles Morales? I'm Peter Parker..I'm assuming you're...yeah, I don't know."

Teddy glanced back over at Nightwing. "Yeah actually... is Superman just like a ton younger or something?" Teddy confusedly asked.

Clearly everyone was just confused at this point as Nightwing waved it off. "Look right now its probably best before something else insane happens." Nightwing just decided it was best to start figuring out where they were, just in case like dinosaurs were still around or something. Seriously if Jerry O' Connell shows up Nightwing was going to just turn around and get the fuck out of there.

As the seven of them all left the temple, Teddy looked up and saw the Quinjet. Suddenly he started to feel a lot better. "Oh sweet, thank God Patriot taught us all how to fly the thing..." Teddy sighed feeling alright again.

Nightwing on the other hand though wasn't as excited, "Oh... ooohhhhh...." Was all he could say as it all dawned on him what happened.

DC/Detective Comics

Bart Allen, or Impulse smiled. It was about time Lex and his crew got what was coming to them. Impulse uppercutted a spec op in a fast manner, the thug yelpded and practically went skidding. "Bring it on!" Impulse said, still smirking. Impulse threw a flurry of punches into a another spec op soldier, he groaned and fell, holding his chest. "I hope Lex is feeling the mode, I can't wait to see the look on his face!" Impulse said, running around another soldier. Lightning flashed around, and a streak of brightness coming from the bolts on Impulse's visor that were on the ear area. The spec op soldier went flying.

This was pretty crash. These spec op punks wouldn't stand a chance against the team. Grinning Impulse was trying to stay fending back the guards like Nightwing had told him too. When though he heard Nightwing and Lex having their little word wars though Impulse had to go look. Zipping into the room though he was in time to see the portal opening behind the bald baddie. As much as he wanted to be smug about Lex deserving it. His duty as a totally crash superhero meant he needed to step in. Running up the plan was to grab Lex and pull him away before something happened. That was the plan at least, what really happened was suddenly feeling the portal forcing him in caused him to practically launch himself into it. Yelling "THIS IS SO MOOODDDDEEEE!" All the way in.

When Impulse came too, he was certainly not prepared for what he saw. He watched Zatanna looking down a group of five or so people he didn't recognize at all. Glancing back and forth between the two in a rare moment of quiet. Finally though upright Impulse had a beaming smile again. "Man you guys look soooo ridicious right now you know that on man dude this green suit is SO crash you a speedster too I've never seen you around though I'm Impulse you guys work in like Gotham City or something Central City Star City heck where ever you guys work so long as you're good guys its all crash!" Impulse was clearly not intemidating nor really had what happened settle in, instead he got a chance to meet new fellow young superheroes.

By the time Beastboy asked if she was alright, Raven had resumed her usual expression. She looked at him, a completely serious expression on her face and uttered the words, “I’m fine.” She did her best to keep her raging emotions in check. There was a fear in her that if they found out how truly crazy her emotions were if they were unleashed, that they would be afraid of her. It was just easier if she kept her emotions hidden.

As she tried to find a reason why her portals weren’t opening, she heard Green Lantern’s ring and froze. As crazy as that sounded out loud, it made a lot of things make sense to her, like why her portals weren’t opening. If that was the case, did that mean that everyone else was on yet another alternate earth, or were they back on their earth, and if that were the case, was that also where these people’s friends were?

As she was in the middle of her thoughts, the one in the red and blue suit singled her out, asking if she was a gender swapped version of, who she guessed, was one of his friends. There was a range of expressions she could feel trying to show themselves on her face and she fought them all back, keeping the same stare she always had. “Yes, obviously it only happened to me.” She oozed sarcasm, and was just as glad when his teammate corrected him and smacked him back to reality.

As they left the cave she stayed at the back of the group, wondering if she had went too far trying to be sarcastic with people that she had just met. Perhaps she should have just kept her mouth shut instead. Well there was nothing she could do about it now, so what was the point in worrying, but until she knew for sure she knew that it would nag at her. As much as she tried to seem aloof, she really was self-conscious, not that she would let anyone know that.

Nightwing’s prolonged vowel made her look up and she saw the ship that only the newcomers seemed to recognize. She took a few more steps forward and looked up at the craft, trying to calculate how heavy it was before the blonde boy mentioned he knew how to fly it. Good, she wasn’t really sure if she was up to levitating something that big on this alternate earth anyway.

She wondered if she could still access Azarath on this alternate earth, and the idea of not being able to made her fear flare up again but she was quick to suppress it. She would have to try once she found a quiet corner to meditate, which she was hoping would be soon.
