"I would. First, may your nest prosper and your brood be strong" she recited an old dracon saying, customary for this occasion. Then, with that out of the way, she took the child and gently held him in her arms. "He's so cute!" Aerta told them, gently lifting the child up and down.

Larek rushed back with the supplies. "Now, I think you know what you have to do next. Just take it calmly and don't push until it is time. This isn't like childbirth, the eggs is round and smooth, and should come out easily."

"Yes, it was" Veax said, looking at the price for the food. "The price is rather... well, we can afford it, but let's just say I'm glad we don't go out to eaten very often."

Nyx nodded, "relax" she said, "females have been laying eggs for years. It will be okay" she smiled

nyx placed the egg gently in the basket, fussing until she was satisfied it was perfect.

"No, once in a wjile is enough" hermia said, "I love the farm too much to be going out alo the time" hermia enjoyed the open space the farm offered, and she loved being able to help out, even if she didn't have the stamina for continous hard work

"See? What did I tell you? Nice and fast. Not like a human" Caex said, relieved that it had gone so smoothly.

"Nice to see the city, every now and then" Orna said. "Or at least one of the cities" Veax added.

"Thank you," Avera said, passing Auryn over and grinning as he looked up at Aerta with wide eyes. "And he's strong too, he practically fell out of his egg when he hatched."

Nyx looked up and smiled, "i wasn't worried when it was happening" she said, then looking back at their egg. "And now we wait for him or her to hatch"

"It is nice too" hermia said, looking around again at what she could see still

"It's interesting. To see the differences between the cities too" tran said

Aerta lifted him up and down a few times, getting a sense of his weight. "Hmm. The magic you used to help conceive him probably accounts for his size and strength. He's very big for someone who just hatched."

"We keep the egg warm, and it should hatch" Larek explained. "Give it another four to five months."

"Each city is unique, especially the eight big ones" Orna replied. "Kos went to Naugoa before, I'm sure he could tell you more about it the next time you see him" she added.

Nyx nodded, fussing with the blankets, "so much waiting" she said with a sigh

"Perhaps we should visit them soon too" hermia said

"That's what Caex had mentioned, I'll need to ask my mother if all of my brothers were this big when they were hatched," Avera said.

[Aristocles]

"It beats having to squeeze it out of you. Alive. Kicking and screaming. Covered in blood" Larek said, suppressing a shudder at how mammals were born.

"Maybe we should" Veax replied. "I wonder what they are up to."

Aerta handed Auryn back to Avera. "You should. I imagine there's got to be a big meeting with our families now. Adykon's parents come over when a new egg is hatched around here. Mine... well, they're still alive, but it's complicated."

Aerta's family was a low-ranked noble house which had wealth without much status. Her father had so many children and grandchildren that he would have a hard time visiting them all, so they came to him. Compared to the largest noble families, her father's wealth was nothing special, and if it were to be evenly divided between his many children, it wouldn't amount to a whole lot.

"You know, I still have an egg in the nest here. It's funny how that works. My grandchild is older than one of my children will be" Aerta commented. "Anyway, please come in and make yourselves at home. I'll tell Adykon the good news."

"What news?" he asked, looking at his son, wife, daughter-in-law, and grandson. He figured it out quickly enough. "Oh... wow."

Nyx laughed, "I suppose thats true" she turned to him, and hugged him, "we have an egg. How amazing is that?" She said

"Probably similar to us, building up their farm?" Hermia said, "it might be good to visit, Sasha seems pretty worried , at least she seemed that way in her last letter" it was still strange to hermia that she didn't see her siblings everyday.

"Why should she be worried?" Tran asked, looking up. He really needed to write more.

[Aristocles]

Larek gave Nyx a kiss. "Now, we have to be careful. As long as the egg remains warm and undisturbed, it should hatch. It is amazing to look at, but our child is inside there, growing larger every day."

"Kos is probably working hard on the farm" Veax suggested. "Well, maybe not at this hour" he added.

"Something about them not having an egg, if I had to guess" Orna replied, stretching out.

"I know" Nyx said, "it shall stay warm and safe" she said

"Maybe not" hermia agreed.

tran winced, "sashas always wanted kids" he said, "I hooe everything is okay"

As the neat of the day left, Sasha stirred from the nap. She ooened her eyes, blinked, an stretched. She felt relaxed, and happy.

"And I'll keep you warm and safe too" Larek said, hugging her.

"I'm sure it'll be fine" Veax assured them, not so sure about his own situation.

Kos was already up, and he gave Sasha a hug when he saw he wake. "Hey beautiful. Sleep well?"

Nyx smiled hugging him back, "then I had best make sure you are always able to"

"Are you worried aboit us?" Hermia asked veax. "Because, you shouldn't be"

Sasha returned the hug, "seems like it. I feel good" she said

Avera nodded again. "And we would've come sooner, I just wanted to make sure Auryn was okay and had a chance to get a little stronger," She said. Avera smiled to Adykon and waved.

[Aristocles]

"I'm perfectly fine" Larek assured her. "My concern is for you now that you just laid an egg. Are you still sore down in your..." he didn't need to say where.

"Well, we don't have an egg either" Veax added, a bit embarrassed to say it, given his expression.

"Then let's make the best of it" Kos said. "We should go home, get something to eat. I'll get the food ready, and maybe we can eat it in bed. I want you to feel good, my love."

"He looks rather strong as it is" Adykon said, his eyes focused on his first grandson. "Yes, unusually so"

"We discussed that earlier, dear" Aerta told him.

"Hmm. Best to keep an eye on how he grows. In the meantime, come on in. The house has been a lot quieter lately." Even with the many children they still had, the fact was that Kos, Larek, Caex, Veax, Aura, and Orna had left.

Avera walked in after kicking her shoes off outside, shifting Auryn to her other arm. "Would you like to hold him Adykon?"

Now Nyx laughed, "im fine" she assured him, "good pain threshold"

"And as far as we know, neither does tran and Orna" hermia pointed out, "besides, whose to say we don't? I mean, obviously not...or rather not long..." And now she was making a fool of herself. "I think I've confused myself

Sasha smiled, "that sounds really good" she said, "almost perfect

"Sure" He picked up the infant easily, having done this with many, many children before. "Whoa there, little guy, take it easy" Auryn squirmed a bit but soon calmed down when he realized that Adykon's scent was similar to that of Caex's.

Adykon's other children were either upstairs in their rooms or out sitting around the living room. Technically, since they were Caex's brothers and sisters, these were aunts and uncles to Auryn, but Adykon didn't mention this to them. He sat down with Auryn in his grasp, handing the child back to Avera after a few minutes.

Aerta brought out some bread and tea, and then returned a second time with a bucket of warm water. "In case anyone wants to soak their feet" she added, sitting down on a cushion herself, crossing her legs and wrapping her tail around her waist.

"Hah! That's the adventurer I married" Larek said, patting her on the back. "Oh, your figure should return to normal quite soon. I can already see a difference."

"No need to worry about it" Veax said, not sure how to respond to that.

"What do you want me to make?" Kos asked, hoping it was nothing complicated.

Nyx looked down at herself and shrugged "alright" she said, looking back up and smiling

Hermia nodded, "right."

"Uh, so should we pay?" Tran said, clearly trying to change the topic

"I'm am happy with simple. Meat and Vegatables" Sasha said
