Larek put his hand on her belly too, being very gentle with her.

A few minutes later, a table opened up. They were led to a large round table with a large pot in the center of the table, sunk into hole in the center. There was a lantern outside for when it grew dark, and there were cushions for the four of them. Orna took her seat, making herself comfortable. A pink-skinned waitress gave them some menus.

Nyx smiled, sighing happily. Then said "I know this will probably be one of those you will just know it time answers, but how will I know it's time?"

"This is nice" hermia said sitting down and accepting the menu from the waitress, studying what was avaliable

"It's one of those things you will just know" Larek explained, or at least, he tried to explain. "I wouldn't know what the feeling is like, you see. It's a female sort of thing, a secret that males can't really get. If you want to talk to your mother, we can always go for a visit to her place later." The gate stones really were convenient.

"Looks like a lot of seafood" commented Veax. He suppressed the urge to let his mouth water, but the food smelled so good that he found it hard to do so. Dracon cooking was known for more than just more salt than humans were typically used to: it also included a lot of meat and fragrant spices. Prosperous dracons often liked to cook fancy, fragrant dishes as a way of showing off their wealth and to impress guests. The same applied to dracon restaurants, a kind of business that was rare outside of the big cities.

Orna nodded. "There's some meat and vegetable dishes too. I think I'll have the salmon with the rice. The rice comes with saffron cooked in." Fortunately for her and the others, they had all brought plenty of cash for this place and could easily afford whatever was on the menu.

They could smell the spray of the ocean from the platform, which was pretty much just an artificial extension of a natural cliff, raised up and made smooth by the construction skills of Naugoa's architects. In a few minutes, the waitress returned with a bronze pitcher filled with water and some glasses. "May I take your orders?" she asked.

Nyx nodded in understanding, "alright, maybe later" Nyx didn't feel like going out at the moment, quite content to stay here on the bed.
((I dknt know fish dishes. I am allergic to seafood))
Hermia looked out over the ocean, amazed t the view it beld. She had never travelled on a boat, didn't think she would find it very appealing for hours and days on end. She turned back to her menu, thinking, then decided on what to have

"It all sounds so good" tran said pondering over thr food

"Yeah..." Larek let his voice trail off, turning on his side to look at Nyx.

"If you don't like the fish, I'm sure they have other foods too" Veax pointed out. "I'm having the almond chicken myself."

"And could we have some bread?" Orna added. Dracon restaurants often provided bread and dipping sauce, and this place was no exception. Common sauces included meat sauce, tomato sauce, olive oil, and a spicy fish sauce. Butter was rarely used in the dracon lands, due to the ease with which it could spoil in the heat.

Nyx looked back at him and smiled, but didnt say anything.

"I don't mind fish" hermia said, "although the menu seems various, considering its near the ocean"

"The chicken sounds good" tran said, he was never much a fan of fish, although it was tasty.

Larek looked at her with his golden eyes, brushing his hand gently against the side of her snout.

"Get whatever you want" Veax told Hermia. "There's a lot more than fish here."

"So, two chickens..." the waitress said, writing the order down. It was unusual for paper to be so cheap and literacy so widespread as to allow that in the dracon lands. Naugoa certainly wasn't a typical place.

Larek turned onto his back and looked up. He rubbed his tail against Nyx's, under the covers.

"So, two chickens, two salmons, and some bread. Got it." The waitress left and got them some bread first, with a bit of red meat sauce. It was starting to get dark and the city was starting to light up, with oil lanterns being lit. The waitress soon returned with their food, and she lit the lantern on their table.

"Sure is pretty out" Veax commented as the sun started to set.

Nyx settled, and had soon fallen asleep. However, she woke a short time later, shifting and sitting up, puzzled

Hermia watched the lights coming on. Amused, she thought it was almost synchronized. She looked out over the sunset "it is" she agreed

Larek noticed that Nyx was awake. "Is something up?" he asked her.

There was a warm breeze that night as the sun slowly set. Just before it did, at twilight, some lights began appearing in the sky. Fireworks!

"Wow. So pretty" Orna looked out in awe at the many colors.

"Those are for the crown prince. It's his birthday, you see. He'll be forty-six at midnight" the waitress explained. Dracons lived longer than humans or many other species did, so that was not particularly old.

"Where are those lights coming from?" Veax asked the waitress.

"Ships just off the coast. The fireworks are made here in the city and launched by mages" she added.

"I don't think I need to ask my mother" nyx said softly
"Magic is amazing" hermia breathed out, watching the fireworks, amazed.

Tran smiled "looks like we chose a good night to come here then"

Larek was surprised at that. "You don't need to ask her? Meaning you think you know what it will be like, which means..." he put the dots together, and his eyes widened at the possibility. "Are you about to lay?"
"Yeah, it really is" There were explosions of every color, with blues that matched the stones of the city, red that burned like fire, and whites that looked purer than snow.

"Indeed we did" Orna replied, taking a bite of her food.

(Just arriving at Adykon's house...)

Avera adjusted Auryn's blanket and lightly bounced him to calm his fussing. "I don't think he likes gate stone travel," She said.

"It's very sudden, I know, but its much better than walking hundreds of kilometers" Caex replied as he knocked on the door. A moment later, Aerta came to the door, dressed in her blue loincloth and matching top. She blinked a few times when she saw Avera with Auryn, her eyes widening in pleasant surprise. She said nothing yet.

Nyx would have laughed at his expression any other time, instead she nodded, "yes"

Hermia watched the fireworks, starting to eat without noticing the food. It was, really quite spectacular.

"I know, but I still feel bad for the little one. It's not easy for him to travel so suddenly," Avera said, kissing the top of Auryn's head as he calmed down. She looked up and smiled to Aerta. "Hello Aerta, meet Auryn," She said.

"Oh gods..." Larek said, throwing the blanket off and getting to his feet. "Stay calm. I'll get the basket for the egg, and anything else you need. Just let me know."

The fireworks gradually tapered off, leaving behind a bit of smoke. Otherwise, the city went on as normal, business and commerce continuing well into the night.
"Is this-?" Aerta asked, her face turning to a smile. "I'm a grandmother?"

"Yes, mother" Caex replied. "He hatched a few days ago. As far as we can tell, he's a perfectly healthy hatchling."
