History: A prodigious student of Physics, Elysia had a brilliant, pardon the pun, life, until a lab accident left her body essentially dead, but her mind alive. She was experimenting with quarkium at the time, in a lab at the Tokyo University. The accident, a quark-induced explosion that, strangely, left her unconscious with live wires criss-crossing her, but harming almost nothing else. When Emergency First-Responders got there, they tried to remove her from the wires, but the moment one of them touched her, they got a helluva shock. Her body was freely conducting the energies coursing through her. She woke up a couple minutes after this happened, looking around herself, she saw the extremely confused rescue workers, and then, looking down at herself, she notices the wires on her. At this point, she has sat up, but the wires that are contacted to her bare skin haven’t fallen off of her. Confused, she removes them herself, and sets them to the side. However, as she removes the final wire, she blinks for a couple moments, her eyes fading, and falls unconscious, her breathing getting ever slower. One of the faster-thinking rescue workers, who was also a fellow student of hers by the name of Darian Blitz, realized what happened and almost threw the wires back onto her. It takes a few moments, but Elysia’s breath returns to normal, and she wakes up again. “Try not to remove the wires again until we can find something that will make do, ok Elysia?” He says with a partial smile, and then says to one of the other responders, “Watashi, go find a car battery, wires and some tape.” Watashi goes to find them, still looking slightly confused as to what is going on.
Elysia turns to Darian, and asks, “The bloody hell just happened, I feel like I was kicked in the chest by a mule, and then dropped on a slab of concrete from 20 floo- Oh Newton’s Arse, my experiment!” She exclaims, as she fully comprehends more of what just happened. looking over at the lab table, the fragment of Quarkium has explosively shattered it’s tempered glass containment case, and has begun to hover a couple inches off the table, glowing and pulsing slightly, stuff that it did not do before this event. “What in the 7 hells is going on?” She wonders aloud, feeling almost pulled towards the shard. As she approaches the shard, Darian realizes what she is doing, and calls out for her to stop, but she doesn’t seem to hear him. As she nears the table, she reaches out her hand to touch the shard, and as she does, the world around her goes briefly dark, and then explodes, as the pulsing Shard almost phases into her, the burning light shooting up her arm and stopping roughly where her heart would be, as the wires fall away, looking as if they were pushed off of her. The glow dims. Only then does Elysia realize something. The noise that comes naturally from the human body, like the beating of her heart, was gone until the shard merged with her. Upon reaching this realization, she falls unconscious, and is safely transported from the building to a hospital by a very confused first-response crew.
Fast-forwarding a couple months, Elysia has recovered, but has also gained a number of remarkable abilities, and is working with Darian to both improve her grip upon herself, and to study the phenomenon that is herself. She ends up making the decision, after talking it through with her professor, one Dr. Amelia Myrn, and Darian, that she would join the Hero Association with the intent of honing herself and her abilities, and pushing herself to the utmost limit, to see where it takes her. For the purpose of science, the Engineering Department made her a super-suit of reinforced, conductive fibers, with a web of sensors woven into it, so as to gather as much data as humanly possible.
Motivations: SCIENCE!!! The money isn’t bad, either.
