My apologies on taking so long with this. Real life intervened with me.
Name Viktor Euphen the 4th
Age 24
Gender Male
Appearance Viktor has long, striaght black hair that drops down just past his shoulders that he usually has tied up in a ponytail. He is of average height, and weight but has sunken eye sockets and protruding cheekbones, making him look skeletal despite not being overly skinny. Viktor is cleanly shaven and has an extremely pale skin. He is dressed very well for an adventurer, although the recent years have not been so kind to his attires; a long maroon coat that was once magnificent but is now worth no more than any other coats worn by average adventurers, a pair of tough leather boots that has seen better days and notably, a longsword crafted from the highest quality metal, with its hilt embedded with several precious gems and engraved in gold. Other than that he is wearing a maroon feathered wide-brimmed hat.
Personality Viktor is neither a follower nor a leader. He can be very regal and noble, capable of having charisma of a worthy leader. However, he dislikes being the leader of others and having a heavy responsibility for the others. He prefers to stand in the sidelines in a group, mostly allowing the real leaders to make decisions but tackling their logic and soundness when he sees fit. He can be extremely critical but insightful as well as being well-learned and educated. Viktor has trouble making human connections as the world he knew as he grew up is vastly different from the one he is in now. He has adapted for the most part, having the knowledge and skills to survive out in the streets by himself. However, he never fully connects with any non-royalty as he often has trouble understanding a lot of "normal" things regarding commoners. To that end, Viktor always seems distant and aloof, sometimes arrogant but mostly lonely.
Background Viktor is the son of the noble House of Euphen. When he reached the age of 5, Lord Daron, the ruler of the local kingdom, adopted Viktor to become a childhood mate of Daron's only son, Prince Moren. Viktor was raised alongside the Prince as if he were his own blood-brother for 15 years. Viktor and the Prince grew very close together, as they were the only true friends they ever had as they grew up since Lord Daron fathered no other children since Moren. Young Viktor would often be the analytical voice of reason for Moren, while the Prince was the charismatic and charming leader growing up to replace Daron when the time came. Despite their personality differences as they grew up, they still remained to be the closest of friends, Moren appreciating Viktor's knowledge and intelligence while Viktor was content supporting the Prince in his seat of power. However, during the Prince's 20th birthday celebration, an assassin made an attempt on Moren's life, coming extremely close to succeeding at his mission. While the Prince's life was saved, unfortunately he was heavily injured and fell into a deep coma. Investigations afterwards hinted that the House of Euphen was responsible for sending the assassin to kill the Prince. Naturally, Viktor Euphen was placed under arrest immediately on charges of crime against the crown. While there was no definite proof that the Viktor had anything to do with the attempted assassination, his political rivals were quick to accuse him and even crafted false-evidence in order to remove him from the political games. King Daron, believing in Viktor's innocence, secretly arranged for Viktor's escape. Viktor managed to run far, evading his enemies' eyes to other kingdoms too far for their influences. Slowly, he began to adapt to the lifestyle of a wondering man, doing odd jobs for money. His pride and power all but gone from him, being no higher than any other man on the street. For years now, he has wandered with nothing but his past memories. Yet Viktor has made a vow; to take on a great challenge, one that will allow him to return to his rightful place by the Prince Moren's side.
Motivation Viktor hopes that whatever is on the other side of the adventure, will cleanse his reputation and return his past life to him. Even if he fails at finding something that will aid him, he calculates that the sheer fame and glory from making the journey will gain him enough influence throughout the lands to attempt to cleanse his false accusations.
Equipment Other than the clothings described above, Viktor wears a simple wool shirt and cloth pants. His longsword is an elegant weapon befitting of royalty, one of the only pieces of his past he still owns. It has engraved decorations of gold and silver along with a large precious gem embedded within the hilt. A simple bag where he keeps his meager belongings, including fire-starters, small bits of dried rations and a canteen. Also has a very small knife with a dull blade. Viktor does have a small stash of valuables which he has managed to hold on to such as gold coins and small gems such as diamonds.

@DeltaV I may not play group games terribly often, but I definitely haven't seen a style like that. I like it! So I might PM some of the other people for conversing purposes, and then put them together in a post, assuming other people as glued to the guild as I am.
WHEW. Okay. I'm here. I've got a post partly written that I can edit due to the new circumstances / moving plot. Edit and complete, that is.
Am I still allowed to post? I apologize for disappearing like that. Life got in the way of me actually having fun, and I had to do a writeup for a roleplay of my own.
EDIT: Also, I caught myself up by reading the IC posts.
EDIT 2: And on that note, do I need to PM you, @DeltaV, about talking to the captain? Or do I just approach the Captain and discuss the matter in a post?
And by the way, this is my spring break and my midterms are all behind me, so expect me to be shoving my nose into this thread pretty frequently, folks.
There we go. Posted. I'm looking to do a collaborative post with either @Carantathraiel or @HangYourSecrets concerning delivering a message to the captain, though Cormac would "settle" for having someone else deliver his message. He's just, y'know... He's Cormac.
@DeltaV Just to clarify, myself and @Shorticus have a collaborate post worked out, but I was going to have my character try to talk with the captain, and he's currently with Eve. However in your post, it's stated that my character is sometime past the first week (head healed, and sea sickness) and Eve is on day two (captain conversation).
Are we assuming these two events are happening on separate days, or that everyone's post on the same day? I'm just wondering how you wanted us to tackle trying to talk to the captain.

This puzzled me, too. I will happily edit my post to end the dinner, if necessary, that was it can be assumed the dinner happened days ago. This the second group rp I've joined and I'm new to the collaboration thing and tend to respond with what I'm given.
Hmm... In retrospect I can see how posting something a week in may not have been the most considerate of me and consistentcies purpose. I could see us all labeling our posts with days in, that way we know what order they happen in. Or we can do a larger pause on day 2, allow for posts, and then another one 1 week in, etc. I could see us playing it out a few ways, depends on what @DeltaV says. :)
Roughly a week late, but I hope it's not to troublesome for me to join this RP.
Character Name: Jorrick Anderson/Male/26 Appearance: Lithe and agile, Jorrick could be called a "Fox" of the Ruins. His face, tanned by sun and sky, is framed by his short, wavy brown hair and his defined jawline. His pale blue eyes shine with a sort of eager intelligence. He stands slightly above average height, and is well built with lean muscle. His arms and legs hold some small scars from life, but on his body he has a large curved scar reaching from his armpit to his hip, along with an old knife wound under his left breast. Personality Optimistic, friendly, and quite often reckless, Jorrick finds himself comfortable with others and is quick to make friends. His intelligent often is shown through in face of adversity, but most may not suspect the observant mind behind his eyes. As well, being accustomed being more skilled at his craft than most, he often feels he is entitled to a larger share of the proceeds. More personally, he often prefers the peaceful solace of the Ruins compared to the life amongst the cities and farmland. Background Jorrick Anderson was born into some of the plethora of peasant families in the middle of the Hundred Realms. Coming from a family of 4 children, much of his early life was spent playing with his siblings in the fields and exploring the occasional rusted out relic, along with accompanying his parents with small tasks around his house. However, when he was 8 years old the neighboring warlord attacked, and his family was forced off their land into the refuge of their feudal lord's coast-side castle. At stiff resistance of the lord's troops, the attack fell into a long siege. Infection and malnutrition claimed the rest of his siblings and his mother, and as times worsened people became more desperate and tried to sneak their way out of the siege. Jorrick was largely pressured into his role though it bought him better odds of surviving. Him, his father, and a few friends and family managed to sneak along the shore out of the keep. The group of survivors eventually settled down in the nearby kingdom of Mason Bridge. Growing up in his adolescence, his father greatly devoted himself in ensuring his only son would live a better life, and his devotion greatly imprinted itself on Jorrick's future life and his personality. He paid for him to attend a basic education, however, Jorrick's hunger for knowledge ended up leading to the sect of Artificers in the town. There he quickly climbed the ropes, and being quick to learn and with his hands, Jorrick began to become a proficient Artificer. His rising position amongst the Artificers led him to end up amongst the curators of the king's relics. Jorrick became on quite good terms with then lord himself, though he quickly became on much better terms with the King's daughter. One night, after brashly sneaking into the daughter's room for an activity best left unsaid, guards discovered his presence and the king himself entered the room. Jorrick attempted to defend his intentions before his lord, but only succeeded in pushing the king over the edge. He was challenged to a duel, and pitted with his knife against the king's sword he quickly realized the fight would be disastrous for him. After only a few blows the king reached out to finish him, but Jorrick managed to dodge the blow enough that he was only left with his long scar on his side. He quickly left the castle, and knowing he would be forced out of the town he attempted to bring his father with him. His father, struck by his reckless irresponsibility and too aged to travel far, stayed, and so at eighteen Jorrick left his home once more. He traveled south, coming under the service of a feudal king as the position of a scavenger. Aided by his agility and stealthiness, Jorrick spent weeks in the solace of the Ruins of once great cities, recovering ancient medicines and great instruments of war. His skills were honed as he spent longer and longer amongst the cities, and as he became more skilled in recovering the great Relics, more and more unwanted attention was focused upon his lord. Returning from once such excursion, he found the town and keep burned to the ground, razed by fire-spewing Relics from a nearby warlord. This drove him to seek the protection of a greater king, and he began again his voyage further south to the city along the Potomac. However, a vicious winter forced him to weather the elements in the crumbling relics of Baltimore, where isolation forced him to become as resourceful in survival as possible. Through the winter he wandered amongst the towering buildings until a warm spring rain made travel possible once more. There he became an artificer amongst the lord of Washington, guarding and gathering the surviving objects of the fallen Predecessors . Motivation Jorrick is accustomed to life amongst the Ruins and the Relics of the past. With not much to leave behind amongst the tatters of civilization, he answered the call of the West, seeking fame and glory, along with maybe some personal company. More personally, Jorrick feel's his destiny lies amongst the fallen cities, the traces of a civilization long gone. Equipment: Accustomed to quick and quiet travel, Jorrick's equipment revolves around his agility and stealthiness. He has soft leather boots, adept for stealth, and neutral colored tunic and breeches to blend in with his surroundings. On his back he carries a faded green cloak and a small, light pack for miscellaneous supplies; whetstone, firestarters, food and water, and of course money, along with a few trinkets from his voyages . He carries his knife on his belt, and a spare in his boot, but otherwise keeps his body free of weapons. Traits: Thick skinned +1 Basic Weapons +1 Agile +1 Quiet +2 Intelligent +2 Artificer +4 Greedy -1 Reckless -3
Since you guys are already embarked on a ship, I could say I board a bit downriver/down coast.
Alrighty, everyone. Sorry about things, I was a bit busy for a couple of days. First up, I have to ask: what do you guys honestly think about how my post was done? I'm relatively new to GMing and want your opinions -- the goal was to be able to keep the plot spurring forward at a decent pace (since it's a pretty long time period that we're talking about here, and I don't think anyone wants to spend a month on a boat post-by-post), but I can understand if people don't like it because it's a bit railroad-y.
For the moment, as far as chronology goes, it's not of too much particular importance so long as you place it within a week or so of everyone else (or it could be at the same time, that's fine as well). Whatever you guys want to do. For sailing on a pretty small boat, especially, there's not a ton to do so I've been a bit liberal with the timescale. For the sake of you guys' planning, I plan on having 1-2 more 'big' compiled posts that take place at sea before everyone finds themselves back on terra firma.
Character Name: Jorrick Anderson/Male/26
Accepted. I'll go about getting you into the thick of things with my next post, which should be . . . soonish. I think we're still waiting on one more person to post?
@DeltaV Thanks for clearing it up, and I thought the post you made was really well thought out. Almost made me feel like we were playing a version of DnD. For purposes of chronology, I would suggest we assume we're all on the same time in between your posts, although it's totally up to yourself. I totally understand why the timescale has been liberal thus far.
@Carantathraiel However you'd like to handle the dinner is fine by myself; the only thing is that my and @Shorticus's collaborative post is going to end with Amos hopefully finding the captain in some manner, so I wanted to clarify the timing of it all before I posted that and caused some sort of time rift. :)
Yeah, I think the only thing left in the collaborative post is for Amos to go hunting for the Cap'n.
@DeltaV The GMing style you're using reminds me of another roleplay we were in together, and frankly that's not a bad thing at all. I certainly didn't see any glaring flaws. Clearing up chronological stuff in the future may be helpful, and clearing up what we're allowed to do with NPCs and such would be nice, too. Otherwise, all seems well.
