Benjamin

Benjamin sighed as he looked to the city in the distance, ignoring most of the bickering among the passengers for a long time until a few gunshots rang through the air finally catching his attention. Looking towards the troublemakers, was three people whom he didn't care much to take note of any of their particular details. Sighing as he turned back to the city in front of them, he pulled out a notebook and a mechanical pencil before he began reviewing his notes with his eyes still captured on the island ahead of them.

So far what he knew of the place, it was a populated island of sorts with a few towns in some areas, and towards the south end of the island was Golla City a metropolis on an island. That for one was shocking as he wondered silently how did the place even begin, as he looked at a few of the ruins visible on the island. Guessing from the large area the dense jungles of this island covered, Benjamin expected there to be more hidden deeper within the jungles. The ruins he guessed were Roman in nature, with its architecture having noticeable similarities which gave clues and hints with its arches and columns littered at the sight. Besides from what lied in the past of the island which was another topic to be explore on at a latter date, there was also the current situation of the island to be examined as well.

At the current state of the island from what he could discover was quite... concerning to put it in the lightest term possible. Crime rate was quite high with the loose hand of the law here, everything here was quite 'iffy' to put it to terms. Signs of Drug Trading have been noticed on the island and 'public disputes' have been common incidents here but the reasons for why these crimes were being ignored was quite obvious. Golla City was a place far from the confines of society and thus more 'abnormal' crime was much more common, with the gathering of people such as himself and other people. The idea of crimes of more magical nature were being committed here, was quite a frightening prospect to think about but pushed it to the back of his mind as he closed his notebook.

Concluding all the tangible facts that he could collect of this island. He sighed as he finally released the gaze of his eyes on the city, moving away from the front of the ship as he returned his attention back to the troublemakers on the ship. There were three... and perhaps two more involved with the incident, as one was definitely guilty of drawing the crowd with the statement of throwing bets to see who would win and another with a bag who seemed clearly interested in the other three whom attempted to stop the fighting right after the crew-members got to them. He sighed silently hoping that they wouldn't meet latter as they seemed to be a troublesome group even if they weren't related or friends.

The students were left to their own devices to find the school with the help of the map. At least the boat ride was free.

Mikkish took a look over his map. The school was at the far other end of the island. He could see that place later. He still had some cash in his pockets, enough for a few bus trips surely. Besides, this was his first time really being in a city, he wanted to enjoy it.

"Yo, Fin. Want to go check out some parts of the city before we go to the school?" He asked, planning to go on his tour anyway if Fin said no.

Two gunshots halted the increasingly loud muttering of the crowd. Prism, having been used to the sound of gunshot from the many times her father and brother brought her with them to the gun range, wasn't fazed at all, but she knew what the captain's appearance meant. The fight was over and her betting scheme was ruined.

"Settle down, loves. I have your money still. I'll return it to you and no one even dare think you can con more money than you gave," she stated with a stern look at the crowd before tapping her temple. "Photographic memory right here." That wasn't true, of course, but what the people didn't know wouldn't hurt them.

"Reaching land in maybe 15 to 20 minutes."

Prism had just finished handing the ten dollars back to one of the betters when she heard the captain's announcement. She looked on over to where the others had began to turn and felt the grin rise to her face. Tall buildings as far as the eye could see. It was a metropolitan oasis in the middle of the ocean and the buzz of magic that radiated from the island seeped inside Prism and warmed her to the bones.

The captain seemed in a hurry to get them off the boat, probably because he didn't like the thought of his ship being sunk by a couple of rowdy kids. Prism offered him a cheeky grin before pressing a kiss to the cheek of one of the girls in the crowd around her and promising them that she'd make it up to everyone who got their hopes up with the fight. She looked over to one of the boys involved in the brawl - Mikkish was what he was called - and approached him. She placed an arm around his shoulders and peeked at the map in his hand.

"Hey, love. You owe me a good fist fight soon. The people are waiting," she stated with a good natured laugh. "Say, you related to Finny boy over there?"

She glanced over to Fin. It was such a shame, really. He looked so much like a pretty girl from afar - totally Prism's type - but he was still a boy. It didn't matter. She liked the dynamic between Fin and Mikkish. They seemed like polar opposites and she just had a feeling that exciting things would happen if she hung around them.

A blue haired girl, Prism, commented to him about them fighting.

"Oh no! You want to...fight me?" Mikkish joked "First day here and I'm already gettin bullied. Yeah, Finian's technically my brother. We got adopted by the same piece of shit druggie. Lucky us."

Mikkish thought he sensed a certain way Prism was looking at Fin...attraction? Wow. Normally, Fin just got attention from guys who had no clue (which was often hilarious) or guys who did know (which Mikkish honestly found disturbing) but THIS was different. This was just rich.

While Prism was over here, Mikkish also decided 'what the hell?' and asked Prism "Hey, me and Fin were going to check out some of the city on our way to the school. You're welcome to come if you want." He said.

Finian Callahan

Finian nodded at his brother, responding to his comment before walking over to the edge of the ship so he could look down at the ocean. It was surely very beautiful and thankfully everyone was more calmed. He ran his fingers through his golden hair, cuffing a string behind his ear before making his way back over to his brother noticing a girl having an arm wrapped around his neck. Finiah stood there before giggling softly as he shook his head, Mikkish surely knew how to get the girls huh? "Wow, you found yourself a new girlfriend now, brother? It hasn't even been the first day and you already have girls clinging on you." Finian laughed while fixing up his skirt, he turned his body towards the exit of the ship as he pointed up ahead with an excited expression forming on his face. There was a beautiful city up ahead that they had to explore and knowing Finian, he loves to try new things too! Especially with having his brother right next to him to adventure with. The two have been together ever since they were orphaned and they became like best-friends, they both had different similarities but that's what made them so close. Brothers.

"So, what exactly do we have to wait for?"

He asked while turning around to face his brother and the girl, his eyes went up quickly over to the girl wondering why was she staring at him so much. It actually made him feel a bit uncomfortable, his cheeks turned slightly pink as his cerulean hues stared somewhere else. "Why is she staring at me?"

Rather than head straight to school John thought it might be wise to go shopping for the items required in making a new sling. After all if this place was like NYC but with mages having a weapon definitely wouldn't hurt. Sure spending money on the ticket towards one of the shopping districts, polyester and a ticket to the school would probably eat up most of the money he had with him for non-necessities, but he could deal with that.

Going off on his own didn't strike him as smart though, especially since reading maps wasn't his forte. On the other hand randomly asking someone if he could join and if they were willing to go shopping seemed like it would be awkward, so he kind of just stood there while figuring out what to do.

Prism didn't even attempt to hold back the huge grin that spread on her face as she watched the brothers interact. It was refreshing and reminded her of her brother and sister. She missed them, but she was sure they were busy with their shows and films. Her hand inched to check the phone inside her pocket, but she knew she would just be disappointed.

She shook her head and grinned back at the brothers. "I'm afraid I'm not a fan of participating in fist fights so I'll pass."

Prism took her arm off of Mikkish after Finian's comment and stuffed them inside her pockets, all the while maintaining a cheeky smile. "I prefer my lovers without dangly bits between their legs," she fired back with a wink towards Finian. "Although I might we willing to make an exception."

Laughing good-naturedly to herself, Prism took a look around the deck to see what the other students were up to. Many had already bunched off together in groups and were discussing what they would do once they got off the ship. There were a few stragglers, though.

"Well, I don't know about you two but a party's always better when there's more people involved." She shrugged, not waiting for their response before moving in front of them and calling out to the other students.

"You there. Blondie," she called out to a blonde girl looking out into the mountains on the island. "Sling," she pointed to a boy that was awkwardly standing on his own, as if indecisive about going off alone or joining one of the groups. "You too, Jacket," she called out as she approached the boy that seemed to be hanging back and just observing the others.

"Want to come with us and explore this wonderful island?" She flashed all three of them one of her bright grins, a signature move of sorts.

"Sling" "Want to come with us and explore this wonderful island?" John couldn't believe his luck. Just when he was wondering if there was anyone he could travel with the blue haired girl he saw near the fight and who seemed to be a member of the biggest group of students asked him to join.

Since he had no reason to refuse he walked over to them. "Thanks for asking me along. If it's not too much trouble I was hoping to hit a shippingdistrict so I could make myself a new sling. This one may work against normal gangmembers but if this city is dangerous as the pamphlet suggest I might need some firepower. As he mentioned his sling he held it so that anyone who was interested could see ]his weapon.

"Want to come with us and explore this wonderful island?" the girl who was taking bets on the fight ealier called out to Sera as well as two others on the boat, she seemed to be hanging around with one of the two trouble makers and his sister. She was blue haired, pretty. Sera swore she'd seen that face before but couldn't link a name to it. "If you're going to all the trouble, then it would be rude to turn down an invite to join you wouldn't it?" she replied, smiling. She hadn't spoken to anyone during the voyage over, so she should probably try to get to know someone.

She heard the one the referred to as sling say he needed to go shopping to get a new sling, did his magic require it or something? Sera decided not to question it. She didn't really care where they went so long as they were able to kill off some time first. Maybe she'd find something useful for her own magic in the market? This was an island of wizards right? "Where we go doesn't really matter to me, so if Sling needs some stuff we can go there. Oh, name's Sera by the way, pleased to make your aquaintance,".

Mikkish looked on his map to see what kind of shops there were. None of the names did he recognize. No regular McDonalds or Burger King, or Gamestop, or Best Buy. It seemed like none of the usual chains back from the US.

He noticed a recurring name: Maniacles. This was in two different shops he saw all over the island, Maniacles Pharmaceuticals, and Maniacles Discount (likely a hardware store.) He also saw some interesting names he figured to be martial arts studios, such as Burning Fist and Cosmic Dragon. The most impressive thing was there were no Starbucks.

"Well, hope they take American money." Mikkish said, looking over the map "And I'm sure Fin would make an exception too." He said, smiling at Prism. It was funny. A lesbian hooking up with his gay cross dressing brother?

"I say we hit this...Celestial Coffee first, its further up the road. I woke up way too early this morning and I hear coffee is good for a hangover."

The coffee shop was neighboring a Maniacles Discount and a place called Jackel Blades (a sword shop?). There looked to be few gun shops on the island. Mikkish couldn't see any.

" Oh, name's Sera by the way, pleased to make your aquaintance,". When the longhaired girl introduced herself John realized it might be smart to do the same. Though rather than tell the other his name he decided to show off a bit. He took out a lighter he kept for whenever he wanted to use his Fire Manipulation and using it's small flame basically wrote his first name in fiery letters. The letters weren't very big and were only visible for a few seconds but he thought they should still impress the others.

In John's opinion Celestial Coffee was as good a place as any to start maybe even better than some, since coffee shops generally had food. He hadn't eating while on the boat in case he would get seasick and lose the contents of his stomach to the water, and while he wasn't exactly hungry yet it would only be a matter of time. "Coffee sounds good to me."

"You too, Jacket, Want to come with us and explore this wonderful island?" He heard someone calling, only just realizing after looking at his own clothes that they were refering to himself. Turning in their direction with his intrested perked for the moment. 'What whould they want with me?' He thought to himself as he watched the blue-haired girl extending an invitation to him.

The offer was good, and was aligned with his own goals as he too wanted to explore the island as well but like any good horror movie finatic, exploring alone is such a bad idea on a island where he didn't know anything. But at the thought of exploring of the many jungles, it was even more stupider but as long as they stayed within the city he was fine with it, but who knows what lies in the city. The only unappealing thing, was the other three trouble-makers but their bickering was indeed funny to extent. He nodded to the invitation "Ummm... Thanks for the invitation" He said akwardly before giving an simple "Mhm" as confirmation for coffee. Wondering what the coffee was like here on this island, was it like the same back where they were from or different? He was curious at how different the island would be, compared to back on the mainland where everyone was used to.

Looking at everyone who made up the group looks, there were four magicians in the group and with him five but what about the other two girls not including Finian whom he confirmed to be male. The other two and Benjamin himself havent confirmed any uses of magic yet, and one of the people who joined was John whom showcased his magic using pyromancy revealed that he too was a magician. So far it seemed that the majority of this new formed group was composed of all magic users if not the whole group. He made to keep note on the other two girls for any signs of magic usage, covertly keeping an open eye on them and along with making sure that he too hid his own magic. Excusing himself for a few seconds as he ran to pick up his backpack from his room which wasn't quite far from the top of the deck and came running back to the group with the thing strapped to his back. Checking to make sure his phone was still in his side pocket of his jacket.

Finian Callahan

"Although I might we willing to make an exception."

Finian blushed slightly as looked away from the others so they wouldn't see the feminine male blush from what the girl had to say. If she didn't like males, then why could Finian be a possible exception? That was weird. Finian looked at his brother with an embarrased look on his face before nodding his head as if accepting his brother's offer. Some coffee would sound really good right about now, especially when they've been on this boat for a long time. He wasn't sea sick or anything but something other than water would be nice to drink. Finian rubbed his arm while staring at the others, they all had different looks and very unique personalities. The feminine male didn't really know what they were, did they have magic and all that? Questions running through his little head.

"S-So! Uhh, so if we go to this coffee place what would we do after that? Explore a bit more? I-I mean, I'm just asking because we were given a map for us to explore around...perhaps there are some things they want us to see in this city? And Mikkish, try not to cause anymore problems please." Finian said to the others before turning his head towards his brother to give him a worried look. He already embarrased himself in-front of all these people, hopefully he wouldn't do it again.

Finian turned away from the others as he stared at the city, he made his way back to the edge of the boat as his hair swayed from side to side with each step that he took. He waited for the others to lead the way so he'll follow.

"Problems?" Mikkish truly had no idea what Fin was talking about as he started walking "Whatever. I wonder if this shit will taste better or be less expensive than Starbucks, at least."

As they were getting close, four cop cars zipped past them, with their sirens blasting. They looked like normal cop cars from back in Georgia (where Mikkish was from) but they had GCPD on the side. Golla City Police Department?

Mikkish turned to the coffee shop. Right under the "Celestial Coffee" sign, was a piece of paper, taped to the wall, which read "Blood Mages Not Welcome."

Giving a shrug, Mikkish opened the door and walked in. The selection looked pretty standard, with regular coffees, flat whites, cappuccinos, etc.

Mikkish just got a large coffee. No cream or sugar, and slumped in a seat at a table next to a window.

Prism grinned broadly as each of the three people she'd called agreed to her invitation. That was good. It didn't do well to have people being left out, especially in the school. Excitement over learning more about magic had overshadowed the looming sense of dread that crept up Prism's spine, but now that she was merely a few steps away from the island, she could feel it as clearly as the sea breeze. There were bad things in the island. Just what they were, she didn't know yet but she had a feeling it wouldn't take long to find out.

Introductions had been made while they were discussing where to first go once they stepped into the island and Prism took a moment to have them all memorized in her head. There was Mikkish, the instigator of the drunken brawl from before, and his adopted brother, the girly Finian. Sling has been rather creative with his introduction. John seemed to use flaming projectiles, if his chosen weapon and abilities were observed. She made the mental note to keep her plants away from his fiery fingers. Blondie was called Sera and she seemed nice enough. Prism would keep an eye on her, if only to make sure she got her eyeful of pretty faces for the day. She wasn't like her brother who saw women as goals to conquer, but she wouldn't turn her back on an opportunity to flirt. It didn't seem as though she'd get far with Sera, unfortunately, but Prism was nothing if not persuasive.

Then there was Jacket whose name still eluded her. He had been the only one to remain quiet and detached even after she'd called them in. There was something about him, mysterious... Prism would surely keep an eye out.

They had just agreed on the coffee shop when Finian spoke about Mikkish getting into trouble. Running a hand through her hair, Prism walked up to Finian and lightly bumped her shoulder with his. "Lighten up darling. What sort of trouble could we get into in this place?"

Just as she'd said that, four cop cars zipped by them. That was definitely a bad sign and Prism gave everyone a sheepish smile. "Well, there's that.

Laughing lightly to herself, she looked around the general area while they made their way to the coffee shop. There didn't seem to be any place for gardenig supplies and the like. "Hey Mikkish, did you see any place in that map of yours where I can buy supplies for my baby?" She motioned to the terrarium on her neck.

While waiting for Mikkish's response, Prism took the time to order. The barista was a rather pretty lad and Prism was going to have her fun. "Now I know why they call this place Celestial Coffee. Your beauty is out of this world." She leaned on the counter with a bright grin before turning back to her companions with a cheeky grin. "Oh, but don't worry, Finny. I still like you best."

'Seems like everyone agreed for coffee then' Benjamin thought to himself as he looked at the rest of the group before walking among the others, watching Finian tell Mikkish to stay out of trouble. "Lighten up darling. What sort of trouble could we get into in this place?" Prism said openly to Finian and the universe in general, Benjamin sighed as he heard this and made sure to knock on some wood, knocking on a bench that they were in front of right now. "Knock on woo-" He began to say before he was interrupted right before he finished saying the phrase, there it was conveniently right there as 4 cop cars with their blazing lights scream past them. "Wood..." He finished after the police car blazed past them.

"Well, there's that." Prism said after which made him smile sheepishly before realizing this and discreetly wiped his smile off his face with the back of his hand, with one moment his smile was there and then whoosh- after his hand passed his smile returned to a flatline of a heart monitor with his mask firmly placed on once more. He sighed at the irony before they made their way to the coffee shop, entering in the place which smelt like coffee obviously. It was like Starbucks where they ordered and gave name which was a perfect opprotunity to butcher his what sense that the group had a hold of him with Brenjamin firmly intent on giving an alias.

Once it was his turn, he ordered something simple and basic cause Starbucks was too fancy but at least the universal love of caramel did apply to him as well. Order a large Caramell Frappacino casually under the name of Seth, it was a sweet and sugary delighte that would inflict diabities upon him but he didn't care, he loved it. It wasn't awkward at all to pick up the order under his nickname, as he was given many nicknames by his weird friends from the mainland, such as Thomas, Bob, William, Charley and many more to which he has responded to many times before.

He occasionally peeked above his slightful sipping of his caffinated coffee drink that was loaded with sugar, to look at Prism every once in a while to see if she suspected anything. The only socially adept person here was her, as she was the one is the glue to this group but if otherwise, this group wouldn't even be a group. But he didn't keep his eyes long on her as he picked up his phone from his pockets and began drinking his drink in one hand and surfing the web on the other.

Finian Callahan

As they finally walked towards the coffee shop, they came to a halt where they were going to order their coffees. Finian glanced at Prism as she was flirting with the barista but then gave Fin a grin, but he quickly looked away from her with his cheeks turning slightly pink as he was blushing. He ran his fingers through the ends of his blonde hair before taking a few steps away from the group as he walked to find an empty table for the others and himself. His brother already knew how Finian likes his coffee so he didn't really have to be standing up with them, they were crowding the place anyways. Prism was obviously making Finian a bit uncomfortable, nothing bad or anything but he has never had this type of affection before, especially with a girl so it was pretty new for him. "Mmmm... I wonder how this sight-seeing will go." he'd say while staring at the table as he rose a leg on-top of the other since he was wearing a skirt. Finian's body was hairless of-course and pretty smooth for a male, some boys were staring at him but he ignored them and tilted his head slightly over to his brother and the others.

The gathering quickly decided that coffee was a good stop off point to start with, sling decided he was going to introduce himself using magic - a cool party trick. Jacket was still rather reserved about his name, guess he wasn't too eager to share anything about himself - apart from his lack of an adventurous sense of style. Sera wondered if his magic was something to do with not divulging your name to people. For that matter she wondered what most of their parties magic was, John - as sling had revealed his name to be - seemed to be a pyromaniac to some extent. Everyone else however, was a mystery Sera.

The gang made their way to the coffee shop, Finian was pestering his (At this point Sera had made the links that Finian wasn't female, as she initially believed) brother about causing any more trouble, He must have caused the fight on the boat them Sera though to herself. Prism tried to console this by asking Finian "What sort of trouble could we get into in this place?" and in perfect timing four cop cars whizzed past them, Sera couldn't help but let out a laugh, not even slightly stifled, quickly clearing her throat afterwards and hoping no one looked at her too strangely.

It wasn't much longer after that incident until they rolled up at Celestial Coffee, Prism was worried about whatever it was attached to her necklace - it kind of looked like a small plant within a glass ball - and she referred to it as her baby. So was her magic to do with plants? Or was she just an enthusiast? Or both? Sera learned magic which aligned with her passion - using her summons like chess pieces - so did the same apply for others too? She could probably figure that out later when she got to know everyone better. She stepped up to the counter to order her coffee, Prism was a flirt with the barista , Jacket had something sweet under the name "Seth" and Mikkish ordered something bog-standard. Sera opted for a Latte, she never was a big coffee nut so it was about the most she could handle and returning to sit with the rest of the group. "So from the sounds of it we need to hit a craft market and a garden centre after this," Sera said, mostly to anyone who would care to listen, "anywhere close by or are we looking at another bus ride?".

It didn't take long for Prism to have the barista's number tucked into the back pocket of her jeans and a cup of black coffee on the house. With a parting wink to the barista, whose name she'd already forgotten, Prism made her way to the table her group had chosen. It was rather spacious, enough to fit all of them and still have some elbow room. She took a sip of the coffee given to her, grimacing slightly at the slight hint of sugar in it, and eyed the rest of her companions.

"So from the sounds of it we need to hit a craft market and a garden centre after this."

Prism turned to look at Sera and nodded. A craft market for Sling and a garden centre for her. They would need to find those locations first before they created their transportation plan, but Prism hoped that they would find some nearby. They had passed by quite a few shops on the way to the cafe that she would have liked to visit. Maybe she'd even find something to aid her newly discovered conjuration abilities, something she'd kept secret. She was just a druidic mage, as far as everyone was concerned, and she liked it that way. She liked having a trump card up her sleeves for when she would find herself in a tight spot.

"We could head to the craft store first and look around the area. If there's a garden centre nearby, I'm sure I'd feel it," she offered, eyeing the map that Mikkish had. "I'm not in quite a hurry to get some supplies since I brought some with me, but it would be nice to secure a place for when my babies need something."

She nodded to herself, as if her statement was final. Another sip of her coffee and she'd finished with it, taking this time to look around the cafe instead. It wasn't crowded, per se. There were some patrons aside from them but none of them seemed all that approachable.

She chanced another look at her companions before leaning on the table and finally asking about something that had been bothering her for a while now. "So, that sign out front. The whole 'Blood mages not welcome business', what do you think that's about?" She looked over her shoulders to make sure no one was eavesdropping on their conversation before continuing, "There's no 'blood mage' here, is there?"

She side-eyed the quietest one in their group. "How 'bout you, Jacket? You've been very shifty there. Not a blood mage, are you?"

"Blood Mages Not Welcome." That sign worried John a bit, because if there were ways to see someone's style of magic other magical means of security no doubt existed as well. That combined with the four police cars that passed by earlier meant his plan of acquiring extra spending money just got a lot harder if not downright impossible.

When it was his turn to order he settled for hot chocolate, and a blueberry muffin. Since he considered food a necessity, even snacks depending on the circumstances he paid with his card rather than with cash. As he sat down with the group he couldn't help but notice that the girl miss Bluehair seemed interested in had some pretty nice legs.

Speaking of miss Bluehair she seemed curious about what types of magic everyone had since she brought up the sign. "There's no 'blood mage' here, is there?"How 'bout you, Jacket? You've been very shifty there. Not a blood mage, are you?" "I don't think anyone here is a blood mage. If they went through the trouble of putting a sign up, they probably have some way to sense blood magic."
