THE BOOK OF SOUS

"It was a long trip, but we're finally here" You hear someone say, as you come to a slow and steady stop. Outside the window you're surrounded by light thick plains, and beyond those plains you see nothing but dense woodland for miles. "Alright! Everyone up! Separate yourselves and head to the exit single file! Just fill out your papers, and you'll be set!" You hear a tall man with light skinned man shout, covered in chain mail. He's armed with a small club, and upon his torso he is dawning an illustration of an open and awakened eye. "I said get up! Hurry outside, the chief of Varnelle is expecting your arrival. Musn't keep him waiting." He bangs against the wood of the inside, before exiting himself. You try to get up, but the long trip has left you weak kneed, and worse still the entire ship is at the will of the gently flowing river as it creaks up and down. You and the others, arms and ankles shackled move into the outside with the early dawn sun spreading it's early reaches onto everyone's face as well as your own. They move one by one inside a tent large enough for two standing men, and before you know it, it's your turn. A guard at the entrance of the tent unlocks your restraints, allowing them to fall before you. You step inside, given a pen and papers.

"Just fill them out, so we can begin."

Welcome to the Book of Sous! This is actually a D&D campaign that I decided to rework into freeform roleplay. Most of it still in tact, with the only things being omitted being stats and dice rolling. Instead you'll be using reputation, which like real life gets better as you make yourself known for being reliable. There's also basic money management, so basically you can't buy a house or a ship without the funds to do so.

You're in the land of Varnelle, a land that is riding on a coastline with many rivers, as well as wetlands. The highest point of the land is barely a mile above a sea level, and it's surrounded by a low mountain range to a path into Londyle, however it's dangerous to trek to without a carriage.

There is only one artifact and it's the Book of Sous. Little is known about the book, some say that it doesn't exist at all. Some say it's only a rumor which exists purely to pump adrenaline into adventurers who're curious about it's existence at all. But where is it? Is it real? What is contained within it's pages? Many who trek to find the mysterious text often does not come back, so maybe they have given up? Maybe you'll be the ones to find it?

The players are to be adventurers/former prisoners whose fate is to explore the world...or other things.

RACE

Any race will do. Since this isn't an rpg it's mostly for preference or aesthetics. There's little limitations here, as long as it's not too outlandish like a 100 foot dragon that is capable of destroying the world via endless cookie rain...you know that kind of thing.

RULES

Site rules obviously apply, keep it clean. But in terms of limitation rules? There isn't any. Just use common sense, like if you punch said cookie harbinger dragon, don't expect to get out unscathed. If you jump into a bottomless pit, expect to be in suspension falling for a very long time. With that being said, death is real. If you die you can be revived up to one time via Varnelle services. After this, that character is done.

SKILLS

What skills are you proficient in? Be sure to write what you're good in on the papers. Maybe you're good at sword fighting? Maybe you're good at alchemy? Write these down to define your character. I'll provide a list.

HISTORY

What was your character doing, and maybe why they might've got apprehended? Maybe they were just wondering nearby and got accused of crossing the border illegally? Maybe they got blamed? What happened?

Also quick ask, do I also place things like character sheets here? Anyone interested? Will answer questions.

Minor interest. No idea what you're going for since there's not a whole lot of info posted. Considering character options.
