“There are perhaps many causes worth dying for, but to me, certainly, there are none worth killing for.” - Albert Dietrich
Theme: The year is 2027 and the world is in Turmoil. The nation of Interum is the Hegemon of the world. Their power has made them a target for the other nations of the world. Constantly at war, fighting and battle are are part of life for most Interians. Many children aspire to become soldiers, and the military is glorified through pro-war media.
To the north of Interum lies its only ally, a small nation called Tellosia. The truce is shaky at best, so Interum has a series of smaller border guard outposts (BGO’s) on its Tellosian border. One such BGO is NO-36. A small, four-room concrete construct built in an isolated mountain pass. The six soldiers stationed there are either unskilled rookies or veterans sent there for punishment.
For two years, the most pressing issue facing these six soldiers was boredom. That was, until Tellosia declared war. Taking advantage of the weak border, Tellosia invaded. Fortunately for our six, no forces trudged through their mountain path. Interum high-command realises the relative uselessness of NO-36 and elects to disband it. As our six prepare to be scattered throughout the other BGO’s, they get a call from HQ. There is a large invasion force heading their way. Reinforcements from the Capital are heading their way via dropship. Just as the invasion force closes in, the dropship crashes. This leaves only one survivor, who has already regrouped with the six. Together, they will endure the horrors of war.
The Seven.

Firearms are still the most common form of weaponry. They remain mostly unchanged, with the exception of becoming generally more powerful. There are many, many kinds of firearms with the Interian military being lenient when it comes to custom weapons and modification. The following is the standard issue loadout for infantry.
M3 Abrams Carbine (has three round burst, automatic, and semi-auto firing modes)
Mid range rifle, useful in many combat scenarios.
Archimedes PDP Mark II (semi-auto)
The PDP (Personal Defense Pistol) is a simple sidearm used by Police and Millitary alike. It has high accuracy, an integrated silencer, and decent stopping power. Its light weight and low recoil have led some soldiers to forego their rifles and dual-wield PDP’s instead
Archimedes “Serpent” Combat Knife Mark III
The Serpent is the perfection of the vibro-blade technology. The edge of the blade vibrates at incredible speed, allowing it to cut through harder materials. This can be done for up to five minutes at a time, and it must be given two minutes to recharge for every minute active. Even when not in vibro-mode, the Serpent is still a solid, dependable knife.
Albrecht Ubergrenades
The Albrecht Ubergrenade design has remained unchanged for decades. The reason being that the design is near-perfect. A dial on the top of the grenade switches between an incendiary mode, a fragmentation mode, and a concussion mode. Some models have a smoke function in the place of the incendiary function.
Abrams Environmental Hazard and Combat Suit (EHCS)
The standard issue EHCS is a model disdainfully reffered to by soldiers as the “Clunker”. The suit is heavy and noisy. Most soldiers have either modified the suit or have purchased their own ECHS’s from different companies. Every suit has an internal climate regulator, keeping the wearer safe from extreme heat or cold. They also have jumpjets in the heels allowing for enhanced mobility. While some models don’t have it, the Clunker has a deployable vibroblade in the forearm.
Standard Uniform
While almost all fighting is done while wearing ECHS’s, the Interum Army issues every soldier a uniform that is typically worn in non combat situations or scenarios where ECHS’s are unusable. The above is the special version of the uniform issued to northern BGO soldiers who operate in a constantly cold climate.
While that is the standard issue gear, almost every soldier uses something different. Be it adopting a unique uniform to fit their own style, purchasing exotic firearms, or using entirely different ECHS’s, the Interum Army gives its soldiers much freedom in the equipment that they use.
It is as of yet unknown what gear the Tellosian invaders will be using.
The Western Commonwealth: An industrious nation famous for its complex mechanical warmachines. Currently skirmishing with Interum on their border. Borders Interum to the West.
Evoria: A socialist republic to the southeast. Famous for its philosophers and thinkers, it is a mostly peaceful nation. It is currently on the losing side of a brutal war with Ganaria. Borders Interum in the southeast.
Ganaria: A fascist nation to the northeast. It has little natural resources and has generated most of its wealth through conquest. Famous for its highly trained soldiers. Currently at war with Interum and Evoria.
The Isari Empire: Large Empire to the south of Interum, has rich natural resources. Famous for the guerrilla nature of its fighting. Currently at war with Interum because of border disputes. Borders Interum to the south.
Tellosia: Smaller nation to the north of Interum. Makes most of its money through trade and the minerals present in its many mountains. Was an ally of Interum until only recently, when it sent a large invasion force into Interum’s borders. Borders Interum to the north.
Interum: The most powerful of the known nations. An economic powerhouse with many natural resources, it has conscripted a massive and well-equipped army to defend its borders. Currently engaged in war or conflict with all but one of its bordering nations.

Staff Sergeant William Jacobson NO-36 Emergency Reinforcement Team Detached from Combat Engineering Corp
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 161lbs
Age: 39
Gear:
The Ares ARC-14 is the current standard in the military carbine market, and for what is considered good reason. With the compact nature, it does not hinder the operator's movement but still allows for the punch and operational considerations for a full assault rifle. While it is chambered in a slightly weaker cartridge than standard rifles and has a slightly lower overall ROF, the weapon's slower ROF is seen as an advantage by some, since it forces operators to maintain focus and place shots more carefully than with a full auto blaze of glory.
A family Heirloom, passed on from father, upon him growing too old to serve in the military, to the son as he progresses or joins the military lifestyle, one that manages to still have a place on the battlefield. What it lacks in technological sophistication it makes up for in sheer reliability and raw stopping power, chambered well above what most sidearms, and even some long arms, might normally use. It also kicks like a mule out of EHCS and still noticeably so when wearing the combat armor. Heavily modified to the point that the original form and make is long since gone, and there are scattered identifying parts that make figuring out its original make and model nigh impossible for anyone outside the family.
A sturdy, no frill combat knife that is balanced for, and to a degree designed to be used as, a throwing weapon. While it lacks the vibro technology that the standard issue knife does, the blade itself is honed to a far sharper degree than the vibro weapon is, providing a far deadlier cut without having to rely on the technology having to charge or, in cases of prolonged use, recharge.
Under his EHCS' cloak is a tool bag full of various parts, tools, and devices designed for field engineering works including entrenching positions, laying munitions such as mines or ammo caches, disarming or cutting through hostile fortifications, or even repairing armor and vehicles. Taking such a comprehensive kit prohibits him from normally carrying large amounts of other ordinance outside of Jacobson's normal weapons so he has to either have supplies on hand, or improvise with what the man can find in the field, to provide effective work. Normally, neither are particular issues, but there is a time and place for everything to go wrong.
EHCS:
Mk. VII Ares Field Survival EHCS
Personality: Staff Sergeant Jacobson comes from a long, long family history of soldiers and combat support personnel and it often shows in his demeanor and actions. He has a rock solid certainty in his actions and reactions to problems that can be infectious, providing a sometimes desperately needed air of calm and control over chaotic battlefield situations. This tends to be a double edged blade, though, as he often clashes more harshly with rookies and inexperienced allies due to his lack of tolerance for mistake and bumbling about in situations that demand nothing but perfect focus which, in his opinion, is any combat situation. He has no problem voicing his opinion, perhaps a reason he has not advanced as far as most of his family usually does, and he makes sure that anyone he is dealing with is under no disillusion as to what he thinks about them. Off the field he is approachable enough and even willing to teach others a few tricks, but he is often unnervingly silent, staring off with an often all too familiar thousand yard stare towards enemy positions, waiting for the next time combat called upon him.
Bio: Born in the capitol city of Interum, like the rest of his family, William Jacobson was raised as a soldier might be trained in the barracks. As in, very roughly and with very high expectations. While his father was deployed, his uncle would raise him much like a drill sergeant would, and the boy would spend much of his childhood learning to fight and work a battlefield to his advantage than he did playing games. His uncle, being a retiree of the Engineering Corp, naturally pushed the young boy in that direction, pleased with his natural aptitude in the technical challenges the older man would routinely put in front of him. From bypassing increasingly impossible positions to making open targets less so, and everything in between, William proved that he would make a fine engineer should the time come. Of course, like most members of the Jacobson family, he would volunteer with the Inertian Army as soon as he was old enough to do so, continuing the legacy of Jacobsons within the Army.
Coupled with aptitude scores and some quiet words from his Uncle, William was admitted into advanced training as an Engineer after basic training was accomplished, where he would excel at operating in the field and providing on the spot workarounds and emergency repairs instead of being a reserve element preparing longer term positions. So he would find himself initially deployed against the Isari Empire and their guerrilla combat tactics where holding long term positions would only be wasted time against such fluid opposing forces. His short term craftsmanship in preparing sudden positions against attacks with little warning would create several decisive victories that helped solidify faltering portions of the front against the Isarian Army, although he would never receive any sort of credit or recognition for his activities. Instead he would find himself, over the next twenty or so years, rotating from front to front with little rest in between them, creating an increasingly scarred, hardened soldier that could afford himself less and less rest in fear of breaking otherwise.
Jacobson was finally slated for a break of sorts, being assigned to the same advanced school for training future Engineering Corp selectees when the sudden invasion by the Tellosian Army occured. Instead of a well deserved, and vitally needed rest, Staff Sergeant Jacobson was hand picked as a second in command of the emergency response forces moving to push off the Tellosian forces. While en route, word of the massive force moving in on the otherwise useless NO-36 post was discovered and the team he was part of was rerouted to reinforce and prepare the place, likely full of green lads and fuck up veterans that had nowhere else the Army could throw them off to wait out the rest of their term with the Army. It was about that point, almost within visual range of NO-36 that his transport was shot out from underneath him and killed everyone on board. Except for Staff Sergeant Jacobson, who would be forced to grab as much as he could carry outside his own supplies and march the rest of the way to NO-36, and towards what was likely his last stand.
Other: William's father, a Captain in the logistics corp, has been puppeteering his son's constant deployments against hostile forces without rest, with the intent of either forging a war hero or breaking the man. Whichever came first.
This looks really cool. I think I'll through a CS at you sometime soon. Spring break starts next week so if this kicks off soon I can devote mroe time to it than I usually would be able to do.
