[OOC] A Prized bride (The return)

Ok to speed along our time at the castle and keep unfavorable pairings from happening, it has been suggested we pair brides BEFORE we start.

These are the suggested brides to husband's, if anyone has a problem with them please say, as there are more Gems than Drakkens s some people will have 2 brides. They ate made both for compatibility and to have as much interaction between all players as possible ,so no one with two characters will have the same hubby

I think @NarcissisticPotato and I were putting our characters together again (Potato, correct me if I'm wrong)

Also, I don't know if we need to pair them for compatibility. In fact, I'd find the opposite would be better for plot conflict and whatever. What do you all think?

But yeah, conflicts are usually interesting! Like how the more rebellious of the gems were paired with the crazy Drakken last time (his name escapes me). The crazy ones would be put with him if it was about compatibility but due to the fact that it was about conflicting characters, the rebellious ones were placed with him.

I'm perfectly fine with who my characters are listed with, and I wouldn't mind if they were paired with any of the others instead. To me, each pairing can be interesting, as each character has their own personality. A rebellious Gem paired with a more psycho Drakken would be constantly fighting with him to get ahead, but a rebellious Gem with a more mellow Draken could lead to some interesting development of character for the Drakken trying to deal with them and the Gem being a little more free to cause the trouble they desire.

Also, I think pairs are fine either way. If the pairs aren't too conflict-y, then that's more time Valence can spend with them, to convince them to join the dark side the Cult's intelligence-gathering group.

See this is my problem with making Rynek into a gal - he's legitimately the best male character I've ever made because he's such a dickhead and I love him for it. I think I might just do something like the twins from the last RP and add a little sister for him! C:

Just out of curiosity, because I don't want to get too technical, but what would be considered part of each element? It seems like water extends to ice, but what about the others? Is metal part of earth, electricity or lava part of fire, etc?

Idk if electricity exists in the setting, but maybe lightning would work, like in Avatar the Last Airbender? That would probably be a really high-level skill so gems might not be able to do that though

@WIlsonTurner You definitely have a point, I see now. @agentmanatee apologies for raising conflict, I misunderstood. All good now!

@SevenStormStyle The elements (for Drakken and Gems alike) were always pretty archaic and basic. I'd say that metal can take part in earth, but it would likely take more effort/skill to mold it, as metal is stronger than dirt. Ice is just water in a different form, as is steam, so those are fine. I'd say electricity is out, since it's less of an element and more convoluded. Fire gems can't, say, squirt lava from their hands (as lava is hot rock) BUT they could pair up with an earth gem to make lava or heat rocks/metal enough to melt them, with effort. A Drakken with both Earth and Fire could probably make lava, since Drakken are more powerful and he has two elements to work with in the aforementioned way. Make sense?

Actually, Gems would be more likely to have an advanced understanding of their element, rather than the Drakken. The Gems have only one element, so they spend all their time training with that single element; meanwhile, Drakken have two elements, and have to split their knowledge and time between the two.

There's also that the Cultists have significantly more pressure to have an advanced understanding of their element- the Drakken are probably always in conflict with one and another, but they do not seriously expect to fight a 'real' war with an equally powerful opponent- and they aren't, not really. But the Cultists are going to give it their all, and so it's imperative that they tear apart as many Drakken as possible. So the Cultists would probably have an advanced understanding of their one element, unless they're out on the field- such as the Merchant. Zane would have a basic understanding of his element, and would be decent at swordplay- because he isn't meant to fight, he's meant to gather intelligence and live his life.

So what I'm getting at that the power of a Drakken and their double elemental status gives them greater freedom, but because of their power and their general superiority to other races, they will not be as skilled with their abilities. They will learn control and such, yes, but a full Warrior Cultist could technically out-magic them due to their drive to be as best as they could be. But again, they'd have to be very skilled, very determined, and very much a Cultist.

@WilsonTurner Remember as well, most Drakken are a fuck of a lot older than the Gems so even though they don't study one element or the other a whole lot at once, they've had a LOT more time to study and master them. Basically it's just about impossible for a Gem to overpower a Drakken elementally, I believe. I think they also have more power as a default.
I think that's whay the name of the game before was diplomacy when the Gem brides dealt with their husbands, since Gems (Cultist or otherwise) just don't compare on the battlefield.
