If so, could I create a Gemmatite thief who was given to a Drakken noble as a bride, but is secretly working as a spy for the Gemmatite government in order to shorten her sentence? Or would that be totally out of place for this RP?

Hey, now that I know that you're the GM, I thought I'd tell you that I posted something for the previous GM, as I wasn't aware that the job fell upon somebody else! So I'll just quote my questions here:

@Framing A Moose @Ellion Personally (As acting co-GM) I would be against it. It's quite out of place for what we know of Gemminia, plus the Drakken are far more clever (and cruel - no qualms about chaining a girl to a bed under armed guard for their entire life) than they look - she'd be caught in a matter of days. Also, they aren't "given" as brides - Soldiers come to all the villages and towns to take the most conventionally attractive girls every year. And Gemminite brides are kept till they die or till they become infertile and are then killed... it would hardly be "shortening a sentence".

EDIT: I realized belatedly how harsh that may have sounded. We're taking an influx of new players, yes, and we'd be quite glad to have you. We might have to fumble around to get the drakken-gem ratio sorted out for you but I think likely you'll wind up with Belle's new bride and Potato's Rynek Darion.

Yeah, that's why I thought it might be a little out of place. It's just that I want to play a strong, fiery female Gemmatite character who's not completely helpless, and that's my best idea. Also, I'm not sure if you guys changed it during the course of the RP, but on the first post, it says that most brides are given to Drekkan nobles, but some are chosen.

@Framing A Moose aaaah yeah this is the writeup that's been used over the last four iterations of this RP. Things have changed and no ones bothered to do lore rewrites - that's actually one of my projects for Christmas time cause I get an absurd amount of time off.

Anyway, regarding your character - there's been several spitfirey less-helpless characters introduced over the course of this RP - see Sorici Amberra, Liana Kasmussen, Atallia Faeron, Kasari Liesma, Lienna Orhhneaht (don't actually know if she ever wound up in the chars tab), Aubree Lamay, etc. for ideas. You can always PM me if you would like to discuss ideas.

I can't tell if Rya is a spitfire or not....mostly just obnoxious and @Framing A Moose we'd be happy to have you! I'm also not sure about the whole spy thing, but make a character ^^. Our poor Drakkon never have it easy lol.

Bio: Layla was taken in place of her stepsister, a plot of her stepmother to keep her own daughter safe. Layla is sweet but stubborn. Once she decides something she rarely changes her mind. First impressions with her are lasting. She is not considered as unearthly beautiful as other Gems. Her beauty is quieter, subtle, like a sunrise that gets more beautiful the longer you view it. She doesn't turn heads but once she is noticed she is hard to ignore.
She has already faced brutality at the hands of the Drakken guards who brought them here, having spoken out of turn and paying the price with a blow to the face that left her with a cut lip. As she watched the more strikingly beautiful Gems around her be chosen Layla feels a mixture of relief at not being chosen... and the disappointment of not being chosen.

Other: Has a birthmark in the shape of a raindrop on the inside of her left wrist.

@Belle objection - all brides have to be over the age of eighteen. We decided on that in the very first iteration just so that there's no question regarding the legality of depictions of... certain interactions. Other than that, looks good.

@RomanAria there she's 18. I was hoping to do a subplot of her being sent instead of her stepsister and that's why she's 17 but whatever makes everyone happy.
