Yeah, I'm... oof. I'm wrestling with myself here, not really sure how I want to do this. The main thing I'm grappling with is that what I wanted to write Dorian to be and what I'm finding myself increasingly coerced to writing him as are two very different things.

-What I want and would still like is for him to be a confident, if young lord who stands in the pretty large shadow of his deceased father and wants to either grow into it or get out from under it, and overall kind of like a more lively version of how I was playing Wilhelm. In particular, I would've liked the affair of his inheritance to have been multiple years prior and, theoretically, this is not his first selection. The main problem with that, I'm finding, is that under that setup there's really no reason for him to be there on Day 2 or pick out a bride as... let's say difficult as the three I've been promised to. Maybe Aubree, but Atallia and Liana would both be a pretty major stretch, at least in my mind.

-What I'm finding makes more and more sense as I think about it is to have him be this irritable, hotheaded little punk with a massive chip on his shoulder who was supposed to make a good impression at his first bridal selection ever, but some incident waylaid him by an entire day so now he has to settle for Day 2, work with what he can get lest he look like a fool, and he's not happy about that. Which is an interesting idea, but it wasn't really what I had in mind and it throws a lot of ideas I had for development further on right out the window.

And none of that is meant as a slam on the three brides in question, they're all fun characters that I'm looking forward to working with. I'm just having some issues getting the character I had in mind at conception and the character that fits the situation to line up properly, and I felt you all had a right to know why I jumped in so enthusiastically but haven't really done anything yet. As soon as I figure it out (and I have little doubt that I will eventually) I will get right on it, I just hope it comes quickly because nobody likes to wait. So, thank you very much for your patience.

Sleepy solutions from Ellion:
What if they a)aren't his first brides. And b. What if he doesn't get them. Like, he is so impressive/busy (or held up at the war) that he sends someone in his place to get the new brides to have them waiting for him when he gets home. Either we can adjust our intros to reflect that or have who ever he sent a)be the one that messed up and came late and got the best he could to avoid the wrath of Dorian or b) purposely got him difficult brides to be salty about something.

@Ellion That's certainly a possibility, I can stuff that in my back pocket for if I just take too much time. I've actually thought of a good reason for him to take Bree and Atallia, the tricky one is going to be Silence of the Lambs over there...

Really, it's a-ok! It's just that when I went to picture the head piece you described the first thing that came to mind was a modified Hannibal mask, so that's what I'm running with ^^;
