Nikita Yankovsky
"Yeah, her porn's as good as her cop gig—sub par and filled with cock-toting men."
"So, I'm guessing that's not the first time you wore that outfit," Daniel quipped from behind his place in the pub. Nikki gave him a blank stare and he felt the beginnings of a laugh bubble up his throat. "Well," he disappeared beneath the counter top, his hand clenching the side of the polished wood to steady him, a single Carebear nail glued crooked on his index finger.
After a moment, Daniel slowly lifted up, a DVD case in his hand and a shit eating grin lifting his lips. It took Nikki a pause before her brows lifted and then furrowed, "You mother
fucker."
"I mean, I'm sure I could find something like that. But, this one's priceless," Daniel's lopsided smirk rose just slightly and he shook the case, "a little Hollywood, eh...
Blondie?"
"I'm not above gutting you, Danny Kid," Nikki growled, "I'm sure Boytoy Dorito over there would hate to find his future boyfriend clutching a bloody porno DVD."
"Yeah, I didn't have to guess who the bad cop was, you're kinda," Daniel paused to look at title, "easy to read, and especially easy in

That's a lie and he knows it. It's just a matter of seeing douchers actually try and then end up drunk in a stall nursing their upset stomachs.

Megumi
"No."
Alistair never gave two shits about Daniel. His little girl did, though. No. Not him. Ethan.
Of course, she'd like the goofball the minute he walked into the room. Daniel's face twisted, incomprehensible and Alistair caught it. The little recovery smile didn't help the look the vampire gave him; he wouldn't explain himself, not in front of Ethan.
After a small stare off, Daniel conceded and made himself comfortable in a small corner of the library with a look on his face that he couldn't quite wipe. Ethan sat in a circle of children on a too bright place mat with
The Giving Tree opened to a random page. Daniel grit his teeth the moment Alistair came to sit beside him - he couldn't help scrunching in on himself, feeling the heat of Alistair's glare on his cheek. Beside Ethan, a smile on her lips despite not understanding a word coming from Ethan's mouth sat Megumi, enraptured by the expressions and gestures.
"You two thinking of adopting?"
"Wh-what?"
"You're fucking right? You've got this domestic shite going on; it's not really hard to miss," Alistair's eyebrows furrowed for but a moment before the lingering silence from Daniel rose them far past the blonde bangs hanging over his forehead. "You're kidding me right?"
"Fuck off."
"There are kids."
"
Fuck off."
Alistair just laughed, but Daniel could feel the pity in it and suddenly that look Alistair caught seemed to quietly reveal itself.

Ethan Cooper
"I'm just waiting for the time where he finds someone better. I think, of all the things in the world, that's an inevitability; it's just something that's going to happen. Right now, I'm just cherishing the time I get to spend with him - even when I know what he'll say."
Sixteen and angry at the world - at life and the people in it, a cigarette hanging by the tip on pouting lips and eyes glazed over in thought. They'd sit on the hood of a car catching up on time spent away from each other before silence sat over their heads to swirl in the smoke puffing from Daniel's lips. This time the silence came first, Daniel's jaw clenched and his hands bruising his thighs in a stiff grip.
"There's nothin' to talk about," Ethan huffed below him, barely an octave high enough to reach Daniel's ears. A hard dent in the gravel thudded beneath Ethan's heel as he smacked it against the ground, then scuffed his sole along the tiny, grey rocks. They made a scratching noise, crunching like Ethan's voice after he'd sobbed a good hour after Breakfast Club - he shouldn't find that alluring, not when it sounded harsh on Ethan's scraped voice below him.
The response had Daniel on the ground, flicking the cigarette to the side. "The hell there isn't," a deep creasing frown stretched his chapped lips and he bent low to tilt Ethan's chin up. His breath caught, partly because of the shiner stinging Ethan's eyes, partly because the dumb, yellow light threw deep shadows across smooth features and the shine of tears still hung above low eye-lids. Daniel's reverie cut short by Ethan's rough head shake, tearing the hand away from his jaw. Bless Ethan's stubbornness saving him the horror of leaning forward too much, taking that chance that he shouldn't.
Pursing his lips, Daniel straightened himself and drew in a deep breath. "Let's head back then?" he cracked, coughing to clear his through and throw his head to the side, "I'm sure your mom's got a cold pack of peas; I'll tell her I clocked you good with the car door before school, yeah?"
"Yeah, sure." She wouldn't believe either of them, just like Daniel barely believes himself half the damn time.
