Powers: Due to a curse in his bloodline some one hundred and thirty years ago, Dark Wolf is the latest humanoid werewolf with black and gray fur to bare the burden with feral senses, claws, and enhanced physical attributes. In his wolf form JD stands roughly six feet three inches tall but tends to lean down and forward. Gains an additional seventy-five pounds of muscle, several pounds of hair, as well as a tail and has an accelerated healing factor but nothing like Wolverine or Deadpool. In civilian form he's only about five feet nine inches tall and one hundred and eighty pounds.
Weaknesses: Silver. The wolf also isn't as powerful in the day as he is the night.
Alignment: Walking the line, he could potentially maim or kill an enemy

His fur would be a deep shade of gray with some black, usually in ripped up jeans or khakis.

BRIEF Bio:
JD is an average guy who suffers depression due to the curse in his blood that turns him into a wolf like humanoid form. He lead a fairly normal life with his divorced/drunk father until he hit puberty and starting showing the signs of becoming a wolf. When an argument with his father caused them both to transform JD defended himself and killed the man. He had barely finished high school, convincing his few friends his father had just left him to fend for himself. He's wandered the eastern United States the last decade working odd jobs Bill Bixby style and come across several other monster like superhumans in Florida [possible Atlantian?], Tennessee, Philladelphia, and NYC.
Storylines: Hero vs Hero, something akin to Wolverine vs Hulk or Moon Knight vs Werewolf by Night

BRIEF Bio: Luke Nesmith, born in the Bronx, grew up dodging gang shootouts and digging bullets out of his front porch. Joined the police force to 'do his aprt cleaning the city'. made it into SWAT. Got dishonorably discharged after 'accidentally' shooting a perp he knew would go free otherwise. Decided to take the law into his own hands afterwards.
Storylines: Coming to terms with how his brand of justice has made him just as much of a criminal as the gangbangers he blasts into red mist.

Mayhew is a master of the arcane arts. As such, Mayhew is able to manipulate the arcane forces through a few various conduits. Most commonly he carries a pair of twin oak wands which are grafted into silver hilts. Using these wands, Mayhew can cast a wide variety of spells ranging from manipulating the world around him to the various elements and even exhibit control over life ad death. Outside of casting spells, Mayhew is knowledgeable in potion brewing, rune carving and enchanting allowing him to make a wide variety of magical weapons and aids.

The most obvious weakness of Mayhew's is that without a wand or other enchanted conduit, Mayhew is unable to manipulate the arcane forces. Beyond this, Mayhew has no superhuman abilities and is still vulnerable to bodily harm if he doesn't magically protect himself.

Born in the early 1500's, Mayhew grew up in poverty always seeking a better life. He found that better life after stumbling upon an ancient Warlock. The Warlock took Mayhew on as his apprentice seeing potential in the boy, unfortunately this was his undoing as Mayhew ultimately killed the Warlock in his sleep in order to siphon the elder man's power for himself. Over the years, Mayhew has constantly grown in power whether through deals, murder or simply the possession of arcane items. Having reached a pinnacle point in his life, Mayhew now has more wealth than he could possibly ever spend but yet is in more debt than he could ever pay off. Owing his soul to forces from beyond, Mayhew constantly barters for one more day by offering other souls in his stead. Somedays a single soul is enough to satisfy the hunger from beyond but at other times, the hunger has sought for hundreds of souls. As such, Mayhew has tethered his store to a Hellmouth in order to feed the hunger the victims of his crimes and amusement. Now residing in a vast metropolis, Mayhew keeps his debt and boredom at bay through causing chaos on its numerous streets.

■ Arch-enemy is a rival sorcerer named Spindleshanks. Unlike Mayhew, Spindleshanks focuses heavily in the art of Necromancy, often raising the dead as puppets and enslaving the weak of mind to carry out his bidding and will.
■ Having lived for so long, Xander has no interest in relationships, merely seeking gratification when he desires it. He also has no distinct preference in partner.
■ Xander enjoys chaos and often sell cursed items to customers just to revel in the madness they cause.
■ Mayhew's shop is built upon a Hellmouth giving him a limitless connection to arcane sources. He's able to summon demons and other otherworldly creatures to act as minions and underlings when needed. Mayhew's shop also doubles as a seal however, preventing the creatures from freely roaming the city and should the shop be compromised it could cause an invasion from the otherside.
■ Mayhew's shop, The Grimoire is protected by numerous spells including ones that have animated the decorative gargoyles. These gargoyles act as Mayhew's guardians and are also used to perform errands for Mayhew when need be.

Able to fire beams of concussive force from his eyes. The beams do not carry radiation, but they do carry a significant amount of heat. The heat from his eyes is a lot more potent than that from his hands, burning for almost twice as hot

His hands can generate heat up to five thousand degrees Celsius - hot enough to melt most metals, barring some super alloys. His hands and forearms are immune to heat or getting burned- so are his eyes and most of his face.

His eyes are able to react at superhuman speeds. Burning projectiles coming at him before they can reach him, for instance.
While his eyes are able to register movement quickly doesn't mean his body can always keep up.

Born to a regular household, born poor, born with a will to make a better life for himself. He took to a life of crime pretty early, doing small time crime while still in high school, and by the time he dropped out of College at 21, he was a full blown criminal. He spent six months in jail for breaking and entering. While inside, he developed his super powers and when you have thermite coming out of your skin, crime becomes a easy living. He would gather a crew and the four of them would heist all across America, never getting caught and due to his powers they never left a trace.

During a heist in his 30's, in California, a civilian pulled a gun on his crewmember, and Douglas shot Joshua Daniels, 24 years old to death. The only time he ever killed. It haunted him and made him quit the game, taking his money and leaving his life of crime behind. Retreating to a private island in South America, he's spent a decade in riches and now, a midlife crisis richer he has decided to make up for old sins.

-Cybernetic right arm: The arm gives Hugh increased strength in that arm and also contains a high powered grappling hook used to turn his horizontal acceleration into vertical acceleration. Perfect for flinging yourself aimlessly into the sky.
-Future Human: In the 41st century, Earth is a lot differentfrom how it is in modern times. The mass of the planet had increased a great deal making the gravity stronger in response. There is also a lot of pollutants in the world making humans need to adapt or die off. Luckily humans decided to adapt to these horrible conditions and ended up being able to survive their harsh reality. While this only just barely allows a human to survive in the future, a 41st century human in the present has quite a bit of advantage over the normal humans in the present. Unluckily though Hugh is pretty sickly and doesn’t exercise so he basically equates to a normal human who works out regularly. Hugh is pretty well versed in mechanical engineering which allows him to upgrade his costume from time to time or help out other heroes with his knowledge.
-Slip-Stream suit: Hugh’s suit gives him amazing reflexes, capable of dodging an onslaught of attacks and even a few bullets (if he’s already moving or prepared for it) and it has a pair of headphones in it that enable him to hear police and criminal transmission over telephone or radio. The main feature of the suit is it ability to let the wearer travel at incredible speeds via a futuristic, clean energy rocket on the suit’s back. Currently the suit can just barely reach the speed of sound if Hugh really pushes himself.

Weaknesses:

-Human: Hugh is, at his base, a human who can be shot, stabbed, choked, poisoned and everything else a normal human can die from.
-Power: While his robot arm is a lot more reliable with EMP proofing and nearly limitless energy force, his Slip-Stream suit is a lot less reliable as it has no protection against EMP weapons (it can however repair itself after about ten minutes) and it need to be recharged. It can operate for 72 hours on a full charge or 12 hours if he’s running constantly.

Born in the far off future of the 41st century, Hugh Chase grew up in the average Neo American family with his mother, father and sister. Hugh grew up as a straight A student and eventually made his way to the most prestigious university on the planet where he studied robotics and superhuman/alien biology. With all of these amazing feats under his belt already, Hugh decided to put his talents to use as a superhero so that he could defend the innocent. After a confrontation with an enemy called the Chrono-Master, Hugh and his base was flung back in time with Chromo-Masterwhich had him bounce around through time for a little while but eventually he defeated the fiend but was stranded in modern times. Now he defends me and you from the dastardly villains of the present day with his futuristic technology!

Actual Origin

Born in the far off future of the 41st century, Hugh Chase was born to a mother who worked in the oldest profession in a post-apocolytic Earth which was conquered by Nightmares, beings who contorted darkness to their whim and stopped out any and all light in the universe. Hugh did get the highest education possible for a human and was pretty smart but his actual intelligence was pretty low compared to Earth’s interstellar rulers. When he got older, Hugh got a job as a drug pusher and was only barely able to get by in the cruel world that Earth had become. He kept his head down all his life trying to not be one of the unlucky few to be taken away by the beings but eventually he ran into a stint of bad luck and got into a scuffle with a stranger infront of the wrong people.

Now Hugh was on the run and things were not looking good for him but he still had an ace up his sleeve. While exploring a few years back, Hugh had found a large machine that he theorized to be some sort of time machine though he had never had the time to look into it further. Now he had all the time in the world as was on the run and wouldn’t be distractedby his job anymore. Using his extraordinary mind, Hugh managed to fix the machine up and fling himself back in time in order to avoid death or worse in the future. After five years of being in the future, Hugh has finally set himself up well by selling himself off as a human billboard for various companies, staring in commercials and being a superhero though most commercials are cheap dog food commercials and the people he’s sponsoredby are usually little family run restaurants.

Storylines:

-Paradox: Time travel sucks. Hugh finds that out after Hugh goes back in time to kill Hugh.
-Insider trading: Hugh likes money so when he’s approached by a company offering him a boat load of money and a new base how can he say no?
-Superhuman Rumble!: Hugh tries to bring in more fans and potential sponsors by arranging a one night only fight between the city’s most powerful heroes.
-Blast from the Past: A figure from Hugh’s past makes a return.

Archery, peak human combatant, a lifetimes experience of fighting mythological foes, unmatched cunning, the gift of tongues - the ability to understand and converse in every known spoken world language – which he uses with a glib ease.

Weaknesses:

Just a human (to the consternation of the Olympians.) Overconfident. As he was an old man when he 'died' he is now an old soul placed into a young man's body, and as such he has trouble controlling his new, youth sharpened passions. Anger and annoyance are forever closer to the surface than he remembers them being.

You been living under a rock for the last two thousand-plus years? No? Good, then you know Odysseus' story. The Illiad, the Odyssey, the whole Epic Cycle, it's all true. I wont bore you with the time-worn details, but suffice to say that the King Of Ithaka lived a long and interesting life, had some fairly unique adventures, captured the imaginations of the common man, and died at a ripe old age. At the last he'd figured that the God's of Olympus had finished with him, and that he'd get to while out the rest of eternity in the Elysian Fields, with his beloved Penelope at his side.

How wrong he was.

You see back then the Olympians were the top dogs around, with plenty of worshippers making all sorts of prayers, sacrifices, and entreaties to them, which was good because prayer is the currency of the Gods. Since then they're fortunes have fallen pretty sharp though, not least because of a little thing called Christianity coming along and blowing them out the water, followed quickly by the apathy towards religion created by modern science in 20th century man.

Zeus and crew are down on their luck these days, but they still dream of the dizzying heights they'd once held, and would do almost anything to get it back. Their latest scheme was to jump onto the 'superhero' bandwagon, and create a masked crusader of their own that would inspire the common man to glory the Gods once more. Zeuz, Poseidon, and Athena convinced the lord Hades – the one God still in ascendancy since people still had to die regardless if they believed in him or not - to help them bring back one of their greatest heroes to serve the roll. Heracles, Perseus, Achilles, any fine demi-god would do.

Unfortunately they got Odysseus.

Zeus was appalled. No mere mortal, regardless of how cunning, would prove equal to the task. He demanded that Hades send the king of Ithaka back to the Elysian Fields, and to fetch him a real hero. It was too late though, as Hade's power was spent, and they'd be forced to wait until he was back to full strength, which could take years.

Athena managed to convince Zeus to allow Odysseus the chance to attempt the task of bringing glory to the God's in the mean time – an act that angered Odysseus himself, as he wanted nothing more than to return to the rest that he'd rightfully earned his first go-round. He argued against it, but arguing against the Goddess of Wisdom is like trying to hold back the tide with a pebble. Eventually he acquiesed only when the Olympians agreed to send him back to Elysian when the job was done. He was given boons to help him in his task; the gift of tongues, light armour forged by Hephastus, a pouch of gold, and his old bow, and told to go an bring glory back to the Gods.

And that's exactly what he means to do.

Storylines:

Not really sure what you're asking for here. Are you wanting us to re-write canon DC/Marvel story-lines with our own characters. If so, what's the point? Can't we just write our own story-lines? I'd like to do something involving Oddie's ex, the sorceress Circe, and something involving the Cyclops, as well as more cut-and-paste type vigilante stuff were he works to take down street crime in a Green Arrow style fashion. I'd also like him to team-up with more traditionally heroic characters, to help develop the classically-heroic character (which if you know your Greek Mythology, wasn't all that nice) into a person more worthy of respect in today's age.

Overlord

Archetype: 'Big Guy'

Name: Charles Anspach

Alias: His primary alias is a simple 'Overlord', yet he also tolerates being referred to as 'His Highness', 'Lord', 'Emperor', 'Champion of

Darkness', and 'His Evilness', although as a self-deprecating joke.

Age: 90's, but due to foul black magic, late 40's physically.

Personality: In five words, he can be described as "Pragmatic, Untrusting, Determined, Icey, and Gentlemanly"

Inside of his armor (Which he often even sleeps with), he is a menacing figure with feathered ears, an intimidating visage, and a light grey-blueish color worn down with a blood-red tint over countless battles. Many pieces are covered in straps of leather or other pieces of cloth. The thick plates are occasionally decorated with fine engravings that are of obvious high quality to this day, many added after the armor's construction to commemorate great wars its owner has taken part in.

He seems to have forgotten what he actually looks like himself. Indeed, he fears if there even is a body under his armor anymore. Nonetheless, he has blue eyes barely visible through his visor, faintly glowing with mysterious energies, and stands at a very impressive six-foot-eight, height bolstered long ago by his original magic enhancements.

Alignment: Mostly Hero. Used to be Evil, but now Heroic, as requested by his dark gods.

Biography: Born in an alternate medieval timeline, Charles Anspach grew up relatively normally until he started receiving visions from what must've been the gods of his world. Ordered to conquer the known lands piece by piece, he was blessed with great arcane knowledge and magical enhancements to improve his own body with, being able to change his blood and flesh on the fly to the situation at hand. Using his newfound powers to strengthen himself, he worked surreptitiously to the very top of his home kingdom, instigated a civil war, and was simply the last man standing with the abilities to lead.

Crowned king, he began his divinely inspired conquest of the world, gifted with great visions and insights by his supernatural benefactors until a team of great heroes began working against him. He was convinced to order construction of a great mystical portal by his superiors as county by county was retaken by the rightful rulers of the kingdoms he invaded, until the band of champions working against him threw him into his portal. Little did they know, this threw him into an alternate (to him) timeline, falling from a great height in an alleyway, almost entirely depowered and with a final order forever written in his head.

"Sin no more, and join with an alliance of heroes."

Waking up from his unconsciousness, his true mission now clear, he shall work to regain his powers and complete his task by any means necessary.

Storylines: While heroic, Overlord gives zero shits about murder and still has a medieval way of thinking, not to mention recovering from being 'drunk on the dark side' for nearly a century. It'd be cool if he had a few arcs of character development to work better in the modern world and with a revised code of ethics.

Powers: While depowered, Overlord is still much stronger then your average human being. His powers now include:

• Charles Anspach is very strong in the physical, muscle sense. While he used to be able to 'cleave a mountain in two', now he can 'only' cut an armored man in half or make a hole in a concrete wall with his unaided fist.
• Complimenting his strength, his body has enhanced regeneration and endurance. As will be mentioned later, he simply can't normally bleed out and even the shock of losing a limb is meaningless to him.
• With some of his 'higher-level' knowledge still being quite difficult to remember, Anspach can still recite powerful incantations that allow him to change the properties of his own blood. Indeed, as his gods said to him, "Blood defines the organism." Due to this, he simply can't bleed out and even if his arm or leg was blown off, he could amusingly just pick it back up and force it to re-attach and work with his spells.
• Besides his blood-magic, he still remembers his personal combat style, emphasized with a sort of 'graceful simpleness' with quick slashes and disregard for short-term injury. Very few have took him on and lived to tell the tale. Indeed, the only way he was defeated was by extensive trickery.
• Charles Anspach occasionally sees visions from his gods, while a rare occurrence, he takes them very seriously.

He had various other powers, most he doesn't even remember at this time.

The weapons he had with him at his 'death' were two simple swords, one short, and one long. His very first weapons, unlike their master they are utterly devoid of magical enhancements now. Although, even without powers derived from sorcery, they are very well-made blades.

His armor is masterfully crafted and made with a special 'skysteel', and thankfully for Anspach still has that useful self-healing ability at least. While much slower then what it was at his heyday, it can still mend itself after a fight. Very useful for keeping the repair bill low. Nonetheless, it is much more durable in the first place then its more fantastically powered owner.

Weaknesses:

• While he possesses regenerative abilities, simple brute force, and a very strong set of armor, he can still be destroyed with enough firepower or force. Not to mention, this requires an upkeep of plenty of food and drink that could certainly cause monetary problems, and his chances at survival away from a sustainable supply line are limited to say the least. Without what can only be described as a feast or two a day, he won't be nearly as effective as his usual.
• His abilities can certainly seem quite freakish, and the fact he's so open about his past as a horrendous Evil Overlord won't be good for relations at all in many situations.
• While he can handily win a fight at close-range, his options for mobility are limited as he's simply a very large man that can't enter smaller vehicles, jump from rooftop to rooftop handily, nor be stealthy in any sense. The clanking of his heavy armor, glowing blue eyes and severely spooky appearance and ponderous pace will be noticed no matter the battlefield and he'll be a very good target for longer ranged combatants.

Notes on Overlord's fighting style and operation; 'Volume 1'

As a 'short' notice, in general, Overlord fights like a Bloodborne or Dark Souls player character, but with much more power available and quicker still in attacking.

Overlord originaly had a vast repertoire of weapons available to him, yet now he only has his two short swords; his 'Gravestone Blades', christened as such after a particularly violent fight earlier into his career, which at the end, he used the original forms of to serve as a makeshift gravestone out of respect for his fallen foe.

The current ones have lost their magical enhancements, yet are still able to accept Overlord or anyone else's lifeblood to activate special runes on the blades, although they are damaged and ill-defined, reducing their effectiveness in increasing the blades own. Currently, the runes lengthen the blades a fourth again and cause a thin fire to form on the surface of the swords. Of course, as Overlord himself is far weaker at this point, he would never use these qualities outside of an emergency.

On the swords themselves, the longer one is the more curved of the two, akin to a saber, and has a longer hilt with a hole in it able to uniquely accept the shorter one's own hilt. This, alongside the fact that the thick scabbard for the smaller of the two is easily applicable in a pinch, effectively allows the 'Gravestones' to form into a spear. Although, it isn't a particularly good spear, being entirely made out of metal, thus making it hard to use.

Aside from his blades, Overlord's body armor can easily be considered a piece of equipment itself. Made of a special 'Sky-steel' and possessing an arcane effect that allows it to self regenerate, if slowly. The series of plates and linked chains (And, of course, endearingly simple peasant-like clothing underneath all of that) offer a superb defense against melee weapons and many small arms, but dedicated anti-armor weapons such as sniper rifles, anti-material rifles, or simply heavier armaments in general (not to mention vehicular weapons) will easily be able to pierce it and damage the man inside.

While the regeneration effect can slowly recreate the entire armor from one example such as the gauntlet or chestplate, this may take several days and isn't useful in the heat of battle, aside from perhaps very minor cuts or dents. Aside from the durability and mild self-healing properties of the armor, the man inside is no slouch in the defensive department either. Overlord's defensive properties can be described as the antithesis of his own armor's; easily damaged in the first place, but easily repaired too. Almost hilariously, Overlord can even re-attach limbs in a fight while murmuring cryptic 'magic words'. Finally, on the defenses front, Overlord has little concern for 'bleeding out' or 'losing conciousness', being effectively immune to these due to a combination of psychological conditioning and lingering blessings by his dark gods.

Before getting to technique, Overlord has one final asset available to him; his Blood Magic. While it primarily allows his defensive abilities, it also has uses on the offensive. As aforementioned, his swords can be enhanced temporarily by inputting his own blood into certain engravings on the swords, yet more directly, if injured, Overlord can instantly crystallize his 'ichor' and force it out as a short-ranged, but still ranged attack. While not directly comparable to a bullet, having foreign, coagulated, hardened, and likely toxic blood entering your body on impact, not to mention the kinetic force, isn't pleasant.

Finally, the last combat related note on Overlord is the fact that all these abilities combined make for a potent warrior who cares little for personal injury as long as goals are attained. His general technique focuses on quick, simple (yet not 'crude') attacks meant to reduce the enemies' ability to fight before going in for a coup-de-grace. As he gets more 'injured', his abilities get stronger due to a rush of adrenaline and the odd euphoria that occurs before a defeat, bolstering his resolve and strength and using his own wounds against his enemies. Ultimately, the best way to 'handle' Overlord would be utter overwhelming force occuring all at once from surprise. As a fight goes on longer, Overlord's chances to win increase.

Alias: Radiance

Age: Real age is 350 years, but she appears to be in her late 20's

Powers: Light Manipulation

• Creation: Lilitavia is able to create light from the available sources given to her (the sun, headlights, lamps, etc.). Depending on the intensity of the light source, the intensity of her light can be strong or weak (the sun would be the best light source available).
• Flight: Lilitavia is able to fly with the help of her ability to absorb light.
• Light Solidification: Lilitavia is able to take light and transform it into a solid force. Most notable, she uses it to form a polearm that she uses as a weapon when fighting.
• Light Attacks: Using the absorbed light, Lilitavia is able to use light in combat. Such attacks include light blasts, light daggers, light beams, etc.

Weaknesses: Due to the nature of her powers, Lilitavia needs to be able to absorb light in order to use her abilities. If there is no light around, she is able to use her powers only if she absorbed light prior. When that light is drained, she cannot use her powers and grows weaker. If no light is absorbed for a long period of time, Lilitavia most likely will die. She is also susceptible to those with the ability to manipulate gravity or glass as both bend light.

BRIEF Bio: Lilitavia, light-sister of the planet Lumines, didn't expect to travel to Earth. However, she didn't expect her home to be plunged into darkness.

To those that don't know the story, Lumines is a planet in a far off solar system from the one Earth is in. On this planet exist a race of light users. Though they appear similar to humans, they are more light colored in skin, usually pale, white, or yellow. Their hair is either white, blonde, or grey and their eyes are almost all white. They have male and female in their species. The planet Lumines is a planet full of light. There is a constant stream of light that bathes the planet in its warm glow. There is no night or day, the species doesn't need to sleep if they continue to absorb the light.

However, they are not new to conflict. A race called the Nightmares (In English) seek to expunge the light from alien homes. They have been at constant war with the Lightbringers. As was her duty, Lilitavia was trained to be a Light-Sister, a battle maiden for the Lightbringer army. However, the Nightmares came with their own plans, subterfuge and even betrayal, led to the planet being consumed with darkness. Many lost their lives as the light dimmed. Lilitavia had no choice but to flee her homeworld and leave behind everything she knew.

It was then that she came crashing to Earth. At first glance, Lilitavia was frightened, but curious about where she was. One thing she had as a comfort was the orb in the sky that shined down on the new world she visited. She took comfort in the fact she was able to continue to exist thanks to this light.

It was here, on Earth, that Lilitavia saw more darkness, in a different form. Evil that scourged the planet, danger that caused destruction and danger. She couldn't return home. So she had to make do with where she was, and she couldn't allow her new "home" to be plagued by this danger.

Using her abilities, Lilitavia fought back against the dangers of Earth. Many who saw her assumed she was another costumed crusader in the fight against evil. She was given the name Radiance by the people she saved, and she decided to keep it.

She needed a residence. It was here that she discovered New Athens and stayed.

Storylines: Willing to work with others to create stories

Notes:

• Lilitavia is still very new to Earth. She hasn't quite adapted to living on Earth and there is much she needs to learn. She still has to adapt to customs, like sleeping and eating, if she hopes to continue to thrive
• Lilitavia is one of 50 children in her family (families produce many offspring to ensure their population doesn't die, as many are lost in the struggle against the Nightmares). She lost most of her family, save for some brothers and sisters who were consumed by the Nightmares and turned into Shadows.
  -Shadows are what the Lightbringers turn into when consumed by the darkness. They appear as dark formed husks.
• Lilitavia's older Sister, Lillivan, is one of the few Lightbringers to betray their race and help the Nightmares.
  -Nightmares look like humans as well, except their skin is black or purple and they have black or blue hair and red eyes. They are able to use darkness to their advantage.

Doctor Neutrino, the Size Manipulator!

Name: Jonathan Lowell

Alias: Doctor Neutrino

Age: 32

Powers: Doctor Neutrino is a brilliant scientist who discovered a methods to shift mass in and out of an alternate dimension. Primarily this allows him to shrink himself down to incredibly small sizes by shifting his mass out in a particular way or grow to tremendous size by adding additional mass, though it also has other applications including instead manipulating density in order to become incredibly dense or virtually intangible.

When shrunken down, he retains his full human strength and capabilities and at giant size sheer mass and the ability to move it enables him to be super-strong. The Neutrino Suit also affords him a limited degree of protection in various extreme environments, though it is not necessarily armored or possessed of any weaponry of note.

In addition John Lowell is possessed of a genius if somewhat eccentric mind and has since used his powers to become an expert in all things small from the tiniest aspects of human biology to cutting edge nanotechnology he's assembled by hand to even the very secrets of the subatomic universe.

Weaknesses:

Doctor Neutrino can only maintain his giant form for about five minutes currently, full-body intangibility requires him to hold his breath for the duration of the process or risk suffocation. While he can shrink, grow and adjust the density of other objects, he must currently make physical contact with them in order for the process to work. Currently without his suit he is merely a brilliant if ordinary scientist. His maximum height is a towering 40 stories tall, but any larger and he risks irreppairable damage to his body. His giant form also risks considerable collateral damage if he's not extremely careful.

Alignment: Hero

Personality: [Brilliant, Fun-Loving, Eccentric, Caring, Absent Minded]

Appearance: John Lowell is a bit of an absent minded professor, brown hair often mussed and unkempt, labcoats and jackets often smudged, singed and wrinkled from numerous experiments or just from some force that conspires to keep them that way. He's perhaps humorously not a tall man, about 5'3" when not employing size-altering technology. He has the sort of face that smiles and laughs easily when it's not puzzling over some new task or the general mysteries of the universe, though nowadays his experiments tend to be very hands on and action-packed indeed. His brown eyes can be either reflective or merry but are generally warm regardless. The Neutrino Suit is bright blue with white highlights on the chest, shoulders and sides and it's generally form fitting, though Lowell is hardly an Olympian, the helmet is silver and the visor a has a slightly orange tint.

BRIEF Bio: For most of his younger life, John Lowell was a party boy from an extremely wealthy old New England family without a care in the world except distracting himself from his own boredom. This was particularly difficult because in addition to wealth he happened to have a rather prodigious intellect he felt he was wasting on his admittedly amusing life of leisure. Eventually simple hedonism and partying wasn't enough of a challenge for him and he set his mind to revolutionizing scientific fields, or so he told himself. It took ages of work but he did eventually have a breakthrough, discovering a method to shift physical mass between dimensions. He started building a suit that would let him use his discovery in order to explore the world at all sizes, but before he could do more than finish a prototype a notorious Boston gang leader kidnapped his now aging parents for ransom. Donning his new suit in order to infiltrate the building where his parents were being held hostage he defeated the gang and rescued his parents.

This helped John realize something, namely that doing good out in the world was more rewarding than both hedonism and the pursuit of pure scientific knowledge. Thus he took the identity of Doctor Neutrino, protecting both Boston and the world at large and having big adventures at sizes both great and small.

Storylines: If it's alright I'd really like to come up with my own storylines instead.

Notes: I'm taking some inspiration from Ant-Man, but also the Atom and for attitude, Ted Kord the second Blue Beetle but played slightly more seriously than Ted occasionally was used.

Commander Gauntlet

Archetype: Inter-dimensional hero
Name: Marvin Smith
Alias: Commander Gauntlet
Age: 26
Powers:
Spectral Gauntlet: Marvin's only power is the ability create armored ghost like hand that floats above the ground and can be felt on the physical plane. He can manipulate it to do different tasks like a real hand and for combat purposes he can have it punch, grapple or whatever hand motions he finds useful for the task at the time. The hand can also change sizes and can go from being the size of a normal hand to the size of a Honda CRV. At its maximum size the hand is able to lift a maximum of one thousand pounds, at normal size it is just as strong as a normal hand. For defensive purposes Marvin can put the gauntlet in front or wrap around him to protect him from attacks.
Weaknesses: The hand can only move a maximum distance of fifty feet away from Marvin and when it is created it has to be within seven feet from him. While the gauntlet is tough it is not invincible and with every hard hit it starts deteriorate and starts to form holes. He can only summon one hand a time and after it is dismissed it takes thirty minutes for it to be fully repair from the damage. Once it is destroyed he has to wait to use it again. It also takes a few seconds for the gauntlet to grow in size and it requires concentration to manipulate it. Aside from his power, Marvin has all of the vulnerabilities of a normal human.

BRIEF Bio: In a world where nearly everyone has superpowers and heroes and villains are as common of a job as your average retail worker, Marvin Smith had a dream of becoming one of the great ones. Unfortantly in his dimension where a man can tow planets on a chain and heroes can move at light speed, Marvin and his singe superpower seemed insignificant. No matter how hard he tried Marvin couldn't compete and he wasn't able to make it to the top. In his world there are winners and losers of the super powered community, and he was among the losers.

Even in his home city in New Zealand he was still outclassed and found himself disappointed in his career as a hero. It wasn't too long in his disappointment and failure that he heard of ingenious scientists developing a potential dimensional doorway. Maybe in another world his powers and acts of heroics would be more appreciated, so with little thought for other things in his life, Marvin offered himself as a test subject to see if the dimensional gateway would work. After waiting about a month and preparing himself for the journey, Marvin traveled through the gateway and into primary earth.

Unfortunately the gateway only stayed open for a few seconds before closing behind him and leaving him trapped in this new dimension. With no friends or family in this alternate dimension, Marvin would have to start up from the bottom and work his way up. Thankfully back in his home dimension gold and jewels were a common commodity for money and he wouldn't have to worry about his finances in this new world he had stepped into. To his relief he also saw that this world had a much smaller population of superhuman people and therefor meant that Marvin could finally seize the glory he so desperately wanted.

With his alias and powers, Marvin set out to be a winner in the hero community. Unfortantly by traveling to this dimension Marvin unknowingly opened up a doorway for horrific extra-dimensional entities to come into this world and cause chaos.
Storylines: trying to become a celebrity in the hero community and failing most of the time while also fighting against Lovecraftian themed monsters
Notes: he has a combat knife for when bad guys and monsters get up close and personal and his spectral hand is gone.

Captain Genome

• Archetype: Super Soldier
• Name: Rosalin Wells (Subject-10032)
• Alias: Captain Genome
• Age: 21
• Powers: Captain Genome possesses what many would consider to be the "standard superhero package"; she is endowed with superstrength, the ability to fly, and nigh-invulnerability. Her strength is great enough for her to toss cars about without much effort, and her top flight speed manages to break the sound barrier (although she does need a bit of time and space to accelerate enough to reach this level; regular flight speed for her is usually much lower). Regular mundane blades can't seem to penetrate her skin, nor can most guns; higher yield firearms can knock the wind out of her, though, and she's proven to be somewhat susceptible to high levels of blunt trauma. In addition to the "standard" powers, she also generates a bioelectric field (which some theorize is the true source of her other powers); whilst she can't do anything like project bolts of lightning she can electrify her body to empower her blows, most notably using it as an improvised taser to stun and pacify criminals. The bioelectric field makes her rather resistant to electrical attacks, and it requires a substantially high voltage for her to be affected by such things.
• Weaknesses: Captain Genome's powers don't work on rubber for some reason (although many would point to the theory about all her powers being an extension of her bioelectric field). Her punches seem to lose the strength behind them when she punches something made of rubber, and if encased in it she loses the ability to use any of her powers. In addition, whatever alien species she's been spliced with apparently thrived in warm conditions and hated the cold, and so sub-zero temperatures will cause her powers to gradually weaken. Notably, for all her durability Captain Genome still needs to breathe, and thus whilst it's difficult to strangle her she can still be drowned or choke on poison gas or other such things; surviving in the conditions like the vacuum of space is right out.
• Alignment: Staunchly heroic. Killing is only an absolute last resort, and even then doing so would weigh heavily on her conscious.
• Personality: Idealistic, optimistic, hotblooded, compassionate, nerdy.
• Appearance: Out of costume on the left and in costume on the right.
• BRIEF Bio

  The girl who would become known to the world as Captain Genome was born in a lab, as part of a secret government initiative to create a new breed of soldier by combining the genetic codes of both humans and an extraterrestrial being who crashlanded in New Mexico in the 40's. Unfortunately, this initiative was hit by a few snags along the way, not least of all the fact that it took them almost five decades of research to get the splicing process to work properly and produce a viable hybrid. For the first five years of her life she was known only by the number 10032 and treated as little more than a lab animal, as she wasn't expected to survive for long before her body began rejecting her alien half. Unfortunately, around the time they started to realize that she was actually a success, the government decided to finally axe the project and told them to destroy all their research to keep it out of the hands of terrorists, supervillains and journalists.
  
  ...So this is ending up longer than you probably wanted so let's just go into cliff notes here: scientist tasked with terminating her couldn't go through with it, adopted her and raised her with his wife, raised to believe in truth, justice, sanctity of life and all that goodness, became a superhero when her powers really started to kick in during her late-teens.
• Storylines:
  • Rosaline's "father" wasn't the only member of the initiative who didn't follow orders to dispose of their work. Some might even have started to realize that Rosaline is in fact the supersoldier they spent so long working on, and might went to take her back for testing...
  • Wait, doesn't half of her genetic code come from an alien race? What if they've developed an interest in Earth?
  • Is Rosaline truly the only product of the initiative that worked out? Have some of its former members decided to pick up where they left off?
• Notes: Rosalin is more powerful than either of her parent species due to hybrid vigour. She's also sterile, and can't have children even if she wants to. Main influences: a variety of "Captain" superheroes, the Weapon-X program, the Radio Noise Sisters, Superboy.

Otiga (Venusians)

The Otiga are an alien race hailing from Okanim, the planet we call Venus. In terms of appearance, they are superficially similar to humans, having the same basic build and average size. Their eyes lack pupils and are a bright (almost glowing) yellow, and their hair is pure white and generally sticks up in stiff spikes. Their skintone is a dark grey, they have only four digits on both their hands and feet, and their ears look somewhat fin-like. An Otiga's body generates a bioelectric field, which boosts their physical strength above the human average and allows them to hover for short periods, and due to living so close to the sun they are adapted to warmer climates and can withstand higher amounts of solar radiation than creatures of Earth can.

A scientifically inclined race, the Otiga utilize their bioelectric fields to power their technology, which is far more advanced than what humans are currently capable of using. Otiga scientists and inventors don't take credit for their individual achievements, for they all believe that each new discovery is a blessing from their god, the Machine Mother, who is enshrined in the center of the grand senate of Okanim.

Millenia ago, the Otiga had an alliance with their closest spacefaring neighbours, the inhabitants of the planet humans would later name "Mars". Historical records of that time are fragmented, but what is known is that something called "The Great Betrayal" happened and the two planets were drawn into war with each other. Eventually, the Otiga won, but at a cost; their numbers had been crippled by the war, and so they had to spend thousands of years repopulating and repairing even as the people of Earth progressed and developed outside of their watchful eye. Eventually, during the early 20th century (by Earth's reckoning), they decided to scout out the blue planet, sending a manned probe... Which due to complications unfortunately crash landed nearby Roswell, New Mexico, killing the pilot instantly. In a panic, the operation was aborted whilst the Otiga tried to figure out what they could do next; the war had led them to be cautious of aliens, and so they didn't want to directly approach Earth until they understood whether they were potential allies or an enemy that needed to be crushed before they grew into too much of a threat. And whilst they discussed and debated what to do, a clandestine human organization salvaged the crashed spacecraft...

Okanim (or Venus) has since been equipped with an elaborate planetary defence system to prevent the humans from getting too close, one that makes their probes send back false data on the atmosphere of the planet which makes it seem like a desolate, hellish world unsuitable for life. To keep up this masquerade, any probes that get too close are destroyed by the defence system, with the intention being that this will make the humans think that the "inhospitable climate" was the cause of the destruction. Meanwhile, they still secretly keep tabs on Earth, as the senate continues to debate whether or not they are trustworthy...

The Initiative

Originally a clandestine department of the US government, the Initiative was founded during World War II in an effort to create the perfect soldier with which to fight the Axis forces with, and once the Cold War set in they were determined to stay one step ahead from the Soviets. Initially, their experiments mostly involved relatively sane if somewhat experimental science, but everything changed in 1947, when a vessel of extraterrestrial origin crashlanded nearby Roswell, New Mexico. What remained of the wreckage (including the deceased pilot) was salvaged and taken into the custody of the Initiative, who immediately began experimenting on the alien technology and the corpse within. Ever since then, they quickly descended into mad science and ethically questionable experiments, to the point that by the 90's they were shut down; the government have proceeded to disavow any knowledge that the Initiative ever existed.

Despite this, many members of the Initiative disregarded orders and instead began working even more secretively than before, all for various reasons. Some were too deeply engrossed in their research to stop, some felt that superhumans were a growing threat and they needed weapons to use against them, but whatever the reasons they had they reformed not long after the official disbandment. Currently, they operate in a secret underground facility near New Athens.

Whilst the most well known product of the Initiative's research was Project Genome, developed by their genetics department, they didn't solely focus on genetic engineering. The Initiative was (and still is, to a lesser degree) split into several departments including the aforementioned genetics department, but also a robotics and cybernetics department, a pharmaceutical department, a department researching various forms of radiation, and the bloody, grisly mutant research department (whom even the other departments believe go too far in their research). The robotics and cybernetics department have occassionally leaked some of their research, and many a robot or cyborg hero includes part of their research in their designs. Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical department was working on a drug that temporarily grants superpowers to the user, but not only did this get (unintentionally) leaked but the formula was degraded and modified to use easier to acquire ingredients. This led to the emergence of the street drug known as "Psycho"; rare and expensive, immensely addictive and with horriffic withdrawal symptoms, but still popular with those who can acquire it due to the fact that it does allow them to develop superpowers for a short time.
